Value for money, but a compromiseIt had to be a 10X optical zoom, as I got used to long zooms during my SLR days. Originally I had my eyes on the Fuji S5000, but did not like the reviews (particularly the pretend 6MP setting, see DPReview).
STRENGTHS:
The price is unbeatable. The camera does not feel flimsy, even though it is plastic. Stickier surfaces would improve handhold, but shape is fine. The controls are logical and well-positioned, and with medium-sized male fingers I can comfortably reach and identify all buttons without taking my eyes off the viewfinder.
The viewfinder picture is what the lens sees (SLR-like), so there is none of the annoying parallaxis error of cameras with separate viewfinder windows.
The autofocus (a weak point in many reviews of various cameras) works fine throughout the zoom range. Macro ditto. The lens seems fine, although I did not play with test patterns.
There is the broad range of general settings expected nowadays, eg, four exposure, seven scenes, five focus, picture colour/sharpness/contrast, ISO between 70 and 400.
The range of manual-mode settings is excellent for this price. For example, there are five built-in white-balance settings, PLUS two manual pre-sets. Continuous shoot is available, as is 3 or 5 frames in a row. Exposure adjustments are available. The extent of viewfinder/LCD information displayed on settings can be changed to suit everyone.
Picture-processing speed is much better than the Kodak DX4330.
Operating costs are low, as it takes AA size batteries (from alkaline to rechargeables) and the cheaper secure digital cards.
WEAKNESSES:
Precision of the sensor is not great. Images are marginally noisier than those taken with a Kodak DX4330. This is not an issue for standard print sizes, though.
I am not wild about the colour. While the Kodak DX4330 had a blue bias, the Vivitar 3755 is red biased. There is no tone setting.
The viewfinder is quite grainy, and it can be difficult to identify objects with the zoom fully out. For people preferring to use the LCD on the back (accepting shorter battery life) this is not an issue as that latter is large and fine.
Unless I missed it, there is no option for a date stamp for photos.
Great cameraI love it.
3755 Vivitar so far so good.....I would recommend it to anyone... My boss just purchased a slr Sigma and he was impressed with it because of the wide range of use.. Of course its not an slr but for 349.00 it's a good deal..
One thing though.... buy a charger.... with 2000mhp... or more...
I went through 8 aa batteries in 4 hours just playing with it....I have already taken over 300 shots.....
So far so good..

Useful but PLASTIC
good idea canon ole bud

Powerful for a little Web camI use this camera as a Web cam and to take pictures that I want quickly to put on the Internet and top quality is not of importance. Surprisingly, this camera even takes short videos. I filmed the first video on the first time I used it and was surprised how easy it was to capture the movie and then put it on the PC.
Beginners should find this one easy to learn with the help of an instruction manual. Intermediate and advanced users should be able to dig right in -- maybe look at the manual for button information. I used this Web cam when we were building a pool and enjoyed seeing the captured photos when I was away from home, but had access to the Internet.
A simply superb little cameraIt is small and light, easy to slip into a pocket or purse, and the shape makes it really comfortable to hold, that's a good plus for me, but the quality of the pictures it produces(128 at good quality) has to be seen to be believed, and thats the clincher!!You are getting, almost true, digital camera quality photos for the price of a web-cam. Obviously you dont get a zoom or some of the other features that you can expect when you pay for a digital camera, but, if you want a web-cam that takes superb pics, that's exactly what you will get,and more, this is real value for money.
It also has a video and voice recording capability and the software that comes with it is good, but, if you have a great imaging programme all ready, this, little beauty has twain~~ so you can import from your PC~CAM 300 straight to either the PC-CAM's photo centre or your own programme.
I love this camera,it is so much more than a web-cam,and is simplicity itself to use. I have had so much pleasure and enjoyment since I have had it~~it is one purchase I will never regret.

Can't use 'smart face tracking'!
Good for easy set up and chatsI plugged it (and the microphone headset that came with it - nice touch!) into an IBM laptop running XP, and had zero problems getting them to run with the chat programs. You do have to install the software to get it to take pictures, however.
The clamp takes a little getting used to, but it will sit flat, hang on to your LCD (it involves balancing, so don't think you can move your laptop with it hanging on), or put it to your regular CRT monitor. This kind of versatility is useful.
The face tracking is interesting. The camera itself is panoramic, so it's realistic to think that it can follow your head as you move left and right (without physically moving the camera).
One last specialness to note about this camera. Because it is not the Logitech brand, you can set it up to output to your website (although this eats your bandwidth up) instead of paying for the monthly fee to put it on Logitech's site.

Great Starter Camera
I love this camera! The quality of the pictures is "okay" on low-resolution but wonderful on highest resolution. I suggest buying a larger flash memory card so you can keep the setting on high resolution and still take loads of pictures.
After having this camera dropped causing a misalignment that rendered the download cable unusable, and finding that a repair would cost more than the camera (HP then tried to sell me their $200 photo printer as a "fix") I purchased a Sandisk Flash Memory Card Reader for $30 and I wouldn't live without one. Just wish I'd known sooner because the flash memory card reader has saved me a ton of money on batteries. I no longer have to keep the camera on to download the photos and it virtually eliminates downloading time. I will be buying flash memory card readers for several people on my christmas list!
