A flexible digital camera solution for fun pictures in wet
This plastic shell makes it possible for you to bring your camera with you while you go bathing, swimming or diving. Usually I buy the "use once" cameras that also are a bit waterproof, but I find that the picture quality not so good. With this underwater casing, I can bring my S40 instead, giving me a lot of nice pictures. I think the price for this underwater camera shell is about 20 "use once" cameras, but regarding the large amount of pictures you can take with the digital camera, I think it is worth it.

In 4 weeks I will take this gadget to the south of Italy for a try diving. As long as the water is clear so there is enough light this underwater camera solution should produce great pictures. When there is lack of light, the flash is not strong enough though. I will update the review when I am back.

A flexible digital camera solution for fun pictures in the wet - perfect vacation gadget

---
Back from Italy:
While in Italy, I took around 1000 pictures. About a 3rd of the pictures were really good. Some pictures lacked focus, and some lacked fishes =). Diving in southern Italy, the water is very clear making it easy for the camera to use auto focus. I used macro mode only during this trip and I got some really good pictures. The only problem I had was the battery. After some days I learned how to take pictures without using the LCD screen. Turning the screen off will prevent the battery from going dead too soon.

I am very pleased with the underwater house, and I will continue to use it during my future trips.

Awesome
This case is great for underwater work. I have taken it to 120 feet and I has held up fine (it is only rated to 100 feet however, so go deeper at your own risk) I use the flash a lot, but where I dive there is not much particulate in the water, so backscatter was not an issue, except when I was in caves and such. I highly recommend this case to anyone wanting to take underwater photos. An external strobe would improve photos a lot, and I am working on fabricating one to work with my Powershot. There is a tripod mount-style hole on the bottom of the case that facilitates attachment to a strobe assembly. I usually set the camera to automatically power down after 5 mins, this saves battery somewhat. I have been able to take up to 90 shots over the course of about 6 hours (2 dives and a long surface interval) with 80% of the shots with flash. Thats about as far as one can extend the battery's life. Get an extra battery if you plan on doing more work than that without a recharge, Overall it is an excellent product to go with an excellent camera

I like it. My students liked it.
I am a Scuba instructor and I own a Nikonos V, a Sea&Sea MX-10 and an Ikelite housing for my Pentax PZ-1 SLR. I wanted to move to digital photography for my Underwater Photography classes. (I am NOT an expert. I am NOT a professional photographer. I teach the intro course.) I also needed to reduce the weight of the gear I was hauling to the Caribbean. The Canon S30 with the DC300 housing lets me do just that. I added an Ikelite Substrobe DS50. (If you want to use an external strobe, you REALLY need to get one that is specially made for digital. Normal strobes don't work!)

I taught a class of high school students to do Underwater Photography last spring with this rig. I used it myself last summer on my own vacation trip. I'm using it again this summer in preference to my other rigs. We were all able to take remarkably good pictures and see the results using my laptop during lunch. I really liked being able to give feedback on the student's technique while s/he still remembered taking the picture. No waiting for developing.

(We also were able to take remarkably bad pictures as well. The delay between pushing the shutter release and actual snappage of the picture is Especially Annoying!)

As with any underwater photography gear, meticulous care and cleaning is necessary. That said, I found this particular rig very easy to maintain and very easy for my students to learn how to maintain and use.

Good camera but software problems.
This is a very good camera and it is easy to use and takes great pictures. The problem I have with it is that it won't communicate with my PC. I have installed all the software that came with the camera as instructed but when I try to install the USB Driver it says that it can't be found. I am operating with Windows 98, 30 gigs hard-drive, 128 megs RAM at 800Mhz. Has any one else had similar problems?

This camera is AWESOME!!
I bought this camera about month ago...and I use it alot. Its so versatile... I love Polaroid 500 pics anyway...so this was neat because it is a digital cam along with the OPTION of polaroid *quick* prints. Yes it IS larger size...BUT ...I still love it.

On the polaroid part... you can take 4 to 9 pics (which you have taken on the camera) ...and put on ONE polaroid print... it's SOOOOOO cool.

One thing I havent been able to do yet is download... for some crazy reason...my computer isn't picking up the cam... BUT... I still love the camera....I RECOMMEND it... Its a fun camera :-)

ITS AWESOME!! Go for it :-)

I love this camera!!
I have used many digital cameras--mostly high end products. I have never been able to achieve the color clarity as well as the detail that this camera can produce--even in ambient lighting situations that are not so camera-friendly. I have uploaded pics to my pc as well as taken the smartcard to the camera shop to have them printed out. It was really easy and took only a minute for either function. At the camera shop, I selected the views that I wanted and had them printed to CD since I knew their equipment was color calibrated far better than mine! (you can tell I'm obsessive about color--for an amateur). The quality of the print was so excellent that my photographer husband thought that it was taken with a 35 mm. Ya' gotta' love it. I also used the polaroid print function and found the color to be excellent in that respect as well. The nice big preview screen on the back is great and can also be used for framing shots.
Since I prefer a "sturdy" camera, the relative bulk of this camera doesn't bother me a bit! The super light cameras tend to "fly away" on me, and I'm never sure that what I wanted was what I shot.(Guess I'm getting old!) Very nice camera with excellent optics. I sold my other fancy digital camera to buy this one...Good move on my part!!!

Amazing value, Amazing quality
I was in need of a better digital camera from my old one. After searching for some time, I decided to get this model because of the optical zoom and easy to use features.

Initial setup with this camera is extremely easy, and you'll be taking pictures within minutes when you first open the box. Image quality is very good at the 2.1 MP this camera is capible of. The on-screen menu system for the camera is very easy to use and to change settings. The movie mode for the camera is also fun and easy to use, and movie record time is limited only to the amount of memory in the camera. The camera automatically adjusts to lighting levels, and you also have the ability to change color controls and can even change to macro focus modes with the camera menu system.

The HP software is VERY easy to use, and the camera even has buttons right on it if you want to email a picture of print a picture right to your printer (all of this an more can be setup with the included HP software). Battery time isn't the greatest, but I've found I can take around around 50-60 images at higher quality, and you can probably take even more if the LCD screen is kept turned off. I recommend you buy some NiMH rechargebles if you are going to get the camera, as they are the most economical. I would also recommend getting a SD memory card for the camera, as the built-in 16MB fills up quickly.

Overall this camera is a great value, with easy to use features and image quality that is very well.

A fantastic camera for a great price!
I'll admit it, I basically bought this camera because it was affordable (I got it for $149.99 at Target), and it had all the features I wanted in a digital camera.

It's incredibly easy to use! I took it out of the box and started shooting photos about ten minutes later. There are so many nice features, too. It has a built-in flash (which can be modified to a red-eye reduction setting, a night setting, and other settings depending on what lighting you're using), optical and digital zoom, an LCD screen, and much more. I thought 2.1 megapixels wouldn't work well for me, but I've found that they are perfect for me. Most of the photos I take are just for fun, for my website, for selling items on eBay, or just everyday use, so I don't need to print out photos any larger than 8 x 10.

I would suggest buying a larger memory card for the camera if you want to take lots of pictures at one time. Mine came with a 32MB card, and that takes about 35 pictures (if you use the highest quality setting -- more if you use a lesser quality setting). Also, purchasing rechargable batteries is a very good idea, seeing as the camera goes through batteries fairly quickly.

Basically, if you're looking for a camera that's easy to use, takes fantastic photos and is affordable...this is the camera to buy. It's great for first-time digital camera buyers (like me).

BEGINNERS PERFECT CAMERA
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA FOR "ANYONE" ANY AGE AS A STARTER CAMERA FOR DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY. I WAS GIVEN A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE CAMERA (DIGITAL) FOR A GIFT. MY FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA. IT WAS A DISASTER. I COULDN'T EVEN READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL IT WAS SO CONFUSING. I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AS A TEACHING TOOL FOR MYSELF. IT WAS PEERFECT RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. I HARDLY EVER USE THE "OTHER" CAMERA(IT COST $400).THAT ONE IS LEFT TO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS.

SO FAR NO PROBLEMS. BATTERY SEEMS TO GO ON FOR EVER. I PAY ATTENTION TO ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON ENERGY SAVING. WORKS PERFECT WITH OR WITHOUT THE DOCK FOR TRANSFERING THE PICTURES. NO END TO RECHARBLE BATTERIES. THE SAME PAIR HAS LASTED FOREVER. THANK YOU......JT

The perfect size for my Digital Camera Needs
The Camera Bag turned out to be absolutely perfect for my needs. My Olympus D-550 camera fits perfectly into the pouch. The pouch has a padded removable velcro divider. My Kodak Max K2000 battery charger fits great on the other side (at an angle because its width is larger than the pouch. On the other side is my camera with product manual. They fit just right such that they fit snug and cannot move around. In the front zippered pouch my memory cards fit perfectly into their special slots and the batteries fit in their respective elastic straps also. There was even room above the batteries for another 4 batteries in an additional small mesh pouch. In the zippered front pouch I was able to put some cables in loosly and the thing still closed nicely. The top of the bag velcros shut and then there is a buckle to snap in. This thing is built tough with a nice canvas like waterproof material. On the outside there is another mesh pouch on the side that my USB cable fit right into. On the back is a velcro strap that could be used to attach to a belt. I love the bag and would recommend it for all your small digital camera needs!

There could not be a better little digicam bag!
I am an amateur film photographer who has switched to digital for my snapshots. I keep a Fuji FinePix 2650 in this bag. Like I expect from a 35mm SLR camera bag, it is roomy and sturdy. It can carry the camera and then some. The front features elastic bands that will grip 4 AA batteries nicely and space for 3 memory cards. There also is a small mesh pouch. All this is protected by a zippered flap that comes up and buckles to the top. The bag closes nicely keeping your equipment clean. The bag is well padded and very sturdy. The main pouch has padded divider fastened with velcro like you would see in a good SLR bag.

I would not let the other comments about the buckle discourage you from getting this bag. It takes some getting used to since it is so small and stiff at first, but it is quite secure. And you don't need to bother with it much since the front flap zippers up and the top flap fits snugly and has a bit of velcro to hold it down even without the buckle. I did read one review that said the buckle is "upside-down." This orientation is actually how many good camera bags are. They make opening it one-handed much easier since the buckle will open and fall out of the way rather than dangle off the top flap.

I can't say much more. This is the best little digicam bag I have yet to see. The most impressive thing is how well it is built. I haven't given it the Samsonite gorilla test, but I did have it get kicked around a bit under the seats at a baseball game. No damage to the bag or contents ... and the mustard came right off!

Incredible Digicam Bag
If you are looking for a camera bag, this one is it! We got ours nice and cheap at amazon.com. It has separate hand and shoulder straps, several interior pouches, including two that are set up to store 4 AA batteries. It offers plenty of protection so that stuff doesn't spill out--the bag's cover is fastened with a velcro strap, and over this you can fasten a buckle that adds a second layer of protection. The main inside compartment (where you will store the digicam) comes with a moveable/removeable boundary that you can adjust so that however wide your digicam is, it will not bounce around. These guys thought of everything! This bag is well built, with what looks like very strong, water-resistant materials, and should last a very long time!

easy to install, good picture quality, update your drivers!
i use this camera on win98 exclusively. you can't install it on an NT or win2000 machine (the software won't install, nor will the updated drivers); on win98, very easy to get working. you can use it with any popular videoconferencing program that you like. the included software is nice to organize photo albums or make video movies. you can also use software to create web pages, and even a web cam (download the new software from intel.com); the focus wheel is on top of the camera, which makes focusing hard if you aren't right next to it....the lens cover is nice if you want to close it and protect the lens. the base is pretty stable, and comes with a bit of sticky tape so you can firmly mount it. if you don't use the sticky tape, i recommend velcro for easy mobility to different angles, otherwise the weight of the usb cable will cause it to tip a bit if it's not firmly seated. there are two lense settings for indoor and outdoor, but i've never used the outdoor option. (it's really a setting for light balance); update your drivers from intel.com and you get the pan and zoom features, as well as fixes to some of the hue and colour balance options.

Excellent image quality and good features
I compared this camera with the Creative Labs Web Cam 3. Intel Pc Camera shows a better and a superior image quality. The software is A+ plus, you can create videos, take photos or send cards through the internet. Dont forget the video conference capabilities (the package include two licences of Intel video phone software). But before you install this camera in your PC, go to tech customer support site to get the correct software ID number, (this is incorrectly labeled in the package). A special note; many friends are reporting configuration problems with pcs equiped with ATIs video cards or ATIs video software.

I found it on the tash...
My dad left crap on my front steps, this was one of the items, it works great...

Good value and lots of fun! Not for hi-grade photos, though.
I bought this camera mostly to play around with and to be able to email simple and impulsive photos. I really like this little camera. If you're looking for quality photographs you're not going to find it unless you go to at least 2-3 megapixels. Digital cameras are not to the point of getting high quality images for pocket change just yet. Capturing images on film is much simpler than with electronics (you can take film pictures with a shoe box with a pinhole in it if you know what you're doing). I say all that to emphasize that this is probably one of the best deals you will find in an inexpensive digital camera. I found the camera simple to operate (although I've not really used the software since I already have photo editing software). Some of the pictures may not look so great when you first download them, but a few simple clicks usually balances light, color and sharpness to decent levels (I have also held blue a filter in front of the lens when shooting to balance incandescent indoor lighting with very good results). When I email images, I usually size them down to 400x300 or 320x240 and they look even better. I have only had the camera a short while and it has been a lot of fun and has delivered some suprizingly good pictures (and a lot of junk ones, too, so shoot in volume - it's cheap!). The one thing that is a little disappointing is the distortion -- usually it's unnoticable or insignificant; sometimes it's bad. Like any fixed focus camera (the manual focus is only for web cam operation) don't expect to get close up. If you're looking for a cheap thrill this is your camera. This camera is not fancy, but it does what it says it does. If you're looking for a camera to do high quality pictures, close-up work, or capture once-in-a-lifetime shots then you need to be willing to fork out some cash on a digital camera (I couldn't find a digital that would approach what I would want for less than $300; personally, I will wait till I can get what is now a $500-700 camera). If you're going to be an uptight perfectionist (like I am with my 35mm SLR), you will be frustrated with this camera. If you want to hang loose and have some fun for cheap, then you need this camera! It's great!

      Small Camera, Small Price
I purchased this camera this afternoon and I am very impressed with it. I found a great deal on this camera so I bought it for my 12 year-old daughter. It stores 64 photos at it's highest resolution (640X480) and 128 at it's lowest. We shot a bunch of pictures in all of it's formats on the way home and around the house in all sorts of lighting conditions. I was surprised by how well it worked in low light. The shots outside were more than acceptable in color quality, depth of field and exposure. It is very light weight and fits easily into a shirt pocket. If you need a decent snapshot digital camera you should definitely check this one out.

      Feature-Packed, Easy-To-Use, Camera.
Chances are, if your reading this, your looking for an inexpensive digital camera. And believe me, there are some bad ones out there. Kodak arguably makes the best digital cameras on the market. Only Sony has as high a quality-to-price ratio. With that said, the Kodak EZ 200 is one of Kodak's best products.

I bought the Kodak EZ200 expecting an "adaquete" camera, that I could just use to get a vague image of myself on the web. Color me very suprised when I discovered it took pictures that were slightly better than a $150 35mm camera. Even more impressive was the fact that this little camera, which was smaller than my wallet, not only could hold 64 of them, but take three shot bursts, 10 second video clips, and was capable of streaming video over the web. All of which it did flawlessly.

Digital photography lives. And for $90, this camera is worth every dime, which is something you can't say for a lot of electronics, especially digital cameras.

      Lots of drawbacks
Yes, it takes great pictures, but there are several things I'd change about it. First, don't trust the wrist strap to hold the camera. My broke in a matter of days and the camera plummeted to the ground. It's extremely flimsy for and $800 camera. Second, there is a one-second delay between the time you push the shutter button and the time the camera takes the picture. This is extremely annoying for users of traditional cameras that respond the instant you activate the shutter. It makes candid shots nearly impossible. Third, the camera is ridiculously clumsy to hold. It's not built to fit the human hand at all. The user's thumb naturally lands on the LCD screen, which is very difficult to clean after ; the camera fall over too easily when standing on its base; it's very easy to drop. Fourth, the LCD screen is hyped as a great feature: well, what Kodak fails to tell you is that using the LCD screen while the camera's running on batteries causes the batteries to overheat and freeze the camera until the batteries return to normal temperature. Yes, the camera takes great pictures, but you'll probably be disappointed by everything else wrong with it.

      not so good
i has read a review of someone talking about "the great" software interface...
yes, i think its great when do you dont use the letter that the software assign to the camera!!! i was instaled the cam, and later, plug a new HD and installed programs there... then, is very hard to uninstall/reinstall all programs cause a new HD letter assignament, then... i try to move the camera letter...
I CANT!! and kodak, have a solution... MOVE YOUR HD LETTER.
im now reinstalling programs like "websphere studio", "MS VC++ 6" and other heavy disk load :(

Good color in pictures, slow USB implementation
I have taken over 2,200 pictures with this camera and I am amazed of the quality. Even pictures that I didn't think would come up due to poor lighting come out excellent. The medium resolution is my favorite. It gives the best balance between picture size and storage.

The USB interface allows you to drag the photos from the camera to your computer. You just highlight all the pictures and drag them to the folder you want to store them in. It transfered each image fast but there is a long pause between each picture. I purchased a USB card reader and it copies about 15 times faster.

Basically don't think that the USB interface for the Kodak means fast downloads, it will be just as slow as serial (or even slower).

      It broke
Nice camera at first. If you take 3 pictures of same object 1 picture will be extremely sharp and the other 2 will be noticably fuzzy when you zoom in. I don't know if this is an autofocus problem or hand jitter problem. Taking videos with this camera is fun and more convienent then carrying around a second video camera. The video quality is poor, but it beats having nothing. Everything else worked well with the camera. I didn't have a problem with the battery. I was able to take 100+ pictures with my battery. After about 6 months with the camera we were on vacation in California. The battery went out and the lens wouldn't retract. After charging at home the zoom lens wouldn't move. No doubt it broke in the handling.

Con: Flash Pro: Great outdoor photos.
This camera takes great outdoor pictures-couldn't be happier. However, the flash is pretty much useless after one picture, unless you wait 2 or three minutes. I have printed absolutely fantastic 8.5x11 inch photos of various outdoor scenes; cannot distinguish from a regular 35mm camera photo!! Some of the photos of active porpoises, whales, etc. at sea. Came out great!

I haven't begun to tap all the camera's capabilities. I bought when camera first came out( two or so years ago?) at a considerably higher price ... . It still works great and I only wish it were a little more compact. The flash problem doesn't concern me. Sometimes, depending on lighting conditions, indoor photos can be taken with flash "off" and come out fine.

Anyway, camera certainly worth price being asked, assuming in good working condition? "Macro" very good, too.

First Timer...Simple and Easy To Use
I've been wanting to write this review since I started using my Toshiba digital camera a month ago now. Having ordered it online, it arrived in no time. I had it out of the box and clicking pics quicker than you can load film into a 35mm camera. Easy setup and simple operation are some key factors to consider when buying a digital camera, and this one fits the bill. I had spent numerous hours researching products online and it came down to two; one a Sony, and the other the Toshiba.

I've had it for a month now and am still stoked at the performance of the camera. The ease of operation and simpleness makes the camera a pleasure to use. Picture quality is outstanding. The software bundled with the camera is just as easy to use. Connection is through a USB cable, and once connected the computer is 1,2,3... to view and edit pics accordingly. The software does some nice fixes, making up for the camera itself. In some photos the camera tends on the "blue" side of the spectrum.... which can be easily adjusted in no time (with the computer); as you'd expect from your film developing company anyway.

Secondly, crucial to any electronic device is the power source. The lithium battery of the Toshiba is ok; longer life would be nice, yet it is much better than most. (A second battery would be a wise investment.) The battery charges in the camera in about 5 hours. There is an external charger I plan on getting when I do buy the second battery. Charging time is much shorter according to the literature.

A third consideration is the shutter speed, the time it takes when you depress the shutter button to the time it takes for the camera to actually take the picture. For the Toshiba it is no longer than it would for a 35mm camera (A BIG plus when subjects are not always standing still).

Overall, I am quite pleased with the Toshiba PDRM70 and would recommend it to any shutterbugs without hesitation. Happy clicking.....

      Great styling, okay picture quality
The Exilim EX-Z40 is a small wonder to look at and hold ... and to actually use. It's arguably the best-looking digital camera on the market today. One look at it and you'll want to buy one. The matching cradle is also just as "cute."

Picture-quality-wise, it's good, but not as good as Canon's offerings. There's a certain softness to the pictures it takes, and you cannot adjust the sharpness level like you can on many (admittedly larger) cameras. The 2" LCD is just totally wonderful, but does put on some drain on the dimunitive battery.

All in all, a pretty good package if a bit expensive. It's definitely something you can impress a lot of people with.

Features are great.. Pics are good...
I had 6 criteria when purchasing a new digital camera.

1st was ultra-compact size. The casio is perfect. Small as can be. Only pentax smaller but battery, speed are better on casio.

2nd. Battery life can not suffer due to size. This battery lasts forever. I started and stopped this camera a dozen times taking 10 pictures at a time, half with flash, all with LCD, and it still has power left. I am amazed by this power management.
One important point. If you battery runs out you are done. You must put camera on usb docking station to recharge. Battery is proprietary. Casio offers a rapid charger for those who need it. Battery normally takes 190 minutes to fully charge.

3rd. Simple to use.. I understand all the settings of manual mode but implementing them can be too difficult. The casio was easy plus it has the BEST SHOT feature. Pick your scenaio. For example PORTRAIT, SCENERY, CANDLELIGHT, etc... It automatically sets the basic settings (ISO, Exposure, White Balance, Focus) based on the BEST SHOT selection you make.

4th Speed. I'm tired of missing things. I want fast finger to snap shutter speed. This camera is great. Even shot to shot is very good.

5th. Picture Quality. This is highly debateable. Without comparison I though the pictures were good. Next to a high quality camera I noticed issues with sharpness and graininess. But before comparing I thought pictures were good.

6th. Low light. Does very good compared to other cameras at this size. Not as good as Larger.. But I was pleasantly suprised.

One big bonus. If you host your own website this camera during usb connection can not only copy the pictures onto your computer, but it will also design web pages with your pictures on it. I really liked this feature.

I was seriously looking at Canon SD-110, Canon's Picture quality is better. Also SD-110 does 640x480 movies. Casio only does 320x240. But I wanted a really small camera. And though the Canon is compact it is not ultra-compact like the casio. Overall I recommend this product.

      Love My Casio!
I love my Casio. This is the second digital camera that I have owned, my first being a Sony Mavica. The size on this camera makes it so convenient to bring anywhere. It is very easy to use, especially with the accompanying camera dock to upload your pictures to the computer. Battery lasts forever. I can't find a bad thing to say about the Casio Exilim.
