GREAT SOUND - GREAT RECEPTION
Great sound and easy to use
My Favorite Clock RadioThey weren't kidding. No other radio or tuner I've owned beats the Recepter in that regard, and most of them cost more. It's exceptionally good at picking out weak and distant signals from among closer and stronger ones. The radio has connections for specialty aerials, but I've gotten along fine with just the wire antenna that came with it.
The simple controls are nearly perfect. I like having rotary volume and tuning controls, instead of all those tiny push-buttons that populate a lot of electronics. The station presets and clock functions are very easy to use, and the display is informative and easy to read.
None of this would mean much if the Recepter didn't sound good, and it does. The vented cabinet and "BassTrac" circuit make for more bass than I thought was possible from such a small radio. Enough, in fact, that it can be a bit much if the Recepter is placed too close to a corner, or too far back on a bookshelf. Keep it a little distance from a wall or other boundary though, and the boominess goes away.
I'm an FM radio nut, and I tried out a number of other hi-fi clock radios: the Bose Wave, Cambridge SoundWorks 730, and Tivoli's Model Three. I liked all of them, but the Recepter was the best combination of features, sound, and price.

One isn't enough! Bring it back! But, I'm a true fan of this clock. I have a hard time seeing blue or green digital clocks. The red LED numbers are large and visible even in the bright Arizona daylight. The snooze button is right in the front, which I like. The alarm sets both forward _and_ backward (instead of having to go through the whole cycle again if you missed). It has a digital timer with memory settings (I've not used that feature much; I'm a one-station kind of gal). Even with my glasses off, in the middle of the night, I can roll over and easily see the time---yet the clock isn't so bright it keeps me awake (like my husband's current clock does!).
I have two complaints, one minor(!) and one major(!). The minor one: the buttons on top have little recesses around them, which collect the dust from our dust storms---I would like to see something more integrated (similar to the buttons on the KitchenAid blenders designed for easy cleaning). The major complaint: I can't find this clock _anywhere_ any more! Both my husband and my son want my clock. I can't bear to give it up, but they both need the alarm clock more than I do. *sigh*
Not only would I recommend this clock, I want RCA to bring this model (with the RED LEDs) back, so I can buy 4 or 5 more!
GREAT NAP FEATURE
Great features! Love it!Another nice feature is that the sleep button holds the last setting. Most clocks set themselves for one hour as soon as you hit the button so if you set it for twenty minutes and then accidentally hit the sleep button again, you have the reset it for twenty minutes. On THIS clock it holds that twenty minute setting until you change it. It also lets you move backwards and forwards so if you miss the twenty you don't have to start over.
As far as the basics go, it has a large clear display, clear and crisp sound, and sharp tuning. My only complaint is that the small buttons are a bit uncomfortable to press. That shouldn't be a major issue though.
In short, I love this clock and highly recommend it!

Great little clock radio
Best CD Clock Radio I FoundI have had this for a week and it works great and the controls are simple.
One great feature is the alarm reset. You just hit the button to turn off the alarm without having to reset it again for the next night. It also has a snooze.
Waking up to CD is great (it does play CD-Rs). A minor complain, but it always starts on the first song regardless where you left it the night before.

Miniature Wonder -improvement over the SW100
Sony SW-07 receiver comparison
- portable AM/FM radio
- weather-resistant
- internal AM antenna
- telescoping FM antenna
- 5:1-ratio analog tuning knob

BEST Sounding small portable radioBest is to take this when working outside and get the rich full sound you can't get with radios 10 times the size.
For most stations, I don't even pull the telescoping antenna up, only on the weak distant stations.
The rechargable pack gives you an amazing long amount of play time before needing recharge.
The Model One has a slightly bigger speaker which gives it slightly better sound, but that one is not portable. I have two of each of these radios, and end up using the PALs more, because I can carry them from room to room, use them in the shower, take them outside, use them in the kitchen.
This was the very last radio Henry Kloss designed before his death. He also designed the Model One, but none of the others in the Tivoli line besides the PAL were his ideas. He would have cringed if he saw the way they turned his ideas into clock radios and stereo versions with all the other features he didn't want in the radio. He wanted them simple, without any gimmicks, and that is what this radio is.
You will have a real "Henry Kloss" original if you get this one.
the perfect radioWhen you turn it on the speaker makes one of the rich bass "pumff" type noises that bigger stereos make as the speakers come on. It has the sound quality that I've heard from Boss acoustic wave machines. Okay, maybe not that good, but very impressive nonetheless.
The nicest feature for me is the tuning knob. The knob that you turn has a five to one ratio to the outer indicator knob. This allows for easy fine tuning, great for the crowded parts of the radio spectrum.
And finally the reception is nothing short of the best I have ever come across. I live about 80 miles from the radio stations I listen to. Sometimes my favorites just don't come in. Not with this radio. In fact I discovered some Seattle stations I'd never heard before.
If you like owning the best, and can cough up the money, buy this baby. You'll be glad you did.

Beats Bose
I love radios and own the Tivoli Model One, the CCradio, and now this one.
The sound quality AND reception on FM are great on this radio, and better than you will get on any Clock Radio. Probably any radio other than the Model One which is equal in reception on FM, and also has great sound.
But I did not expect the not only great reception, but amazing fidelity of the AM on this Boston Acoustics, which is better than it is on the Model One, and just as good as the Ccradio.
The best feature of this radio, is that you can mix AM and FM stations together in the presets, which are not from just 4 or 5 buttons, but in a rotating knob. You can put stations in any order, and have an FM station, than an AM, or any combination in the presets, and not have to change the band to AM and FM like in all other radios when using presets between the two.
Sleep functions, snooze that you can extend snooze periods just by how many times you hit the snooze button to add more snooze time, just a fantastic radio that you will never be sorry you purchased, and realize that the high price was well worth it.
Only a few decades ago, most people did not have stereo systems that sounded as good as this radio. Don't be fooled by it's size, the bass response on this tiny radio is as if it had a subwoofer attached to it.
Usually in a radio, the AM is an after thought and never any good, but the AM tuner in this radio had as much quality in design as the FM part.
Just listening to a voice of an announcer on an FM station will be enough to realize how amazing the sound is on this radio.
I will be buying more of these radios for other rooms of the house.
I still love the Tivoli Audio Model One. I, as many others, can not find a favorite between these two, they are both great in their own ways and I love both of them equally in sound and reception on the FM, but for a bedside radio, then THIS one is the winner hands down.
I took my Ccradio away from the bed, and replaced it with this one.
