I agree!! This clock/phone is awful! You cannot tell what time it is unless you hit a button to have it light up! What kind of clock is not lit up? The LCD display is awful on the caller ID. Even trying to move the phone around to look at a different angle does not work. I am definitely returning this item. Good idea, but very bad design.

Bad phone, bad clock
This phone is awful! You can't see the display unless you are standing above it, so you can't see the time from bed. The phone sounds so bad that I will walk to the kitchen to answer instead of picking up in the bedroom. Sound is terrible and crackely on both the phone and the radio. Really a poorly made product.

    didn't play cds well
I liked the button setup a lot, the way you set the alarm, etc., but there were only 2 cds out of my whole collection it would play. It made a loud spinning noise when playing, and most CDs (even brand new CDs just out of the case), the display would just read "NO" and it wouldn't play. I kept it anyway, but it still only lasted a year until the alarm just wouldn't set anymore. I would not recommend this product.

    No specs available?
Why would anyone risk the $70 hassle of ordering a radio when basic specifications are unavailable? Digital tuner? size? I could go on but you get the idea. Pitiful. No wonder there are no reviews. There are no sales I'd guess.

If you want a CD Alarm Clock, Do not buy this
I got this item for christmas a few years ago and from the begining the CD player has not worked, It will start to play and then about 6 minutes into the CD it will stop.
The only thing this alarm clock is good for is the beeping alarm. Its just and expensive alarm clock. Look elsewhere if you want to wake up to your favorite CD. This doesn't cut it.

5 star looks. no star performance
The reception on both AM and FM stations was very poor. The digital tuner has rotary controls, and they are very touchy. It was difficult to dial in a specific station frequency. There are no presets. When switching between AM and FM bands, the radio does not return to the previously tuned station on that band.

    Too bad about the backlighting...
This clock radio has it all... almost. The Atomic clock synched right up, the sound is quite good, I like the "Nap" feature and the ability to set two alarms to two different times on each different day of the week is cool.

So, I set it all up and put in my bedroom and when it got dark I realized the radio was useless to me - no matter how you set the backlighting brightness display you have to get right on top of the clock to read the display. So trying to set the nap timer or the sleep timer or change the alarm settings, after dark, becomes almost impossible. When you turn up the brightness the numerals just stay the same and the backlighting just gets brighter and glares in your face.

The manual leaves a bit to be desired too and just ignores features like backup (which it seems to have because when you disconnect from power the clock continues to display and the setting are saved; I just have no idea how long and if that feature is something I can count on).

Bottom line is I would surely keep the clock if I could only read it at night.... but I can't; so back it goes. Too bad.

1-2 days ? Where is it.?
I placed the order for this on May 6, 2004. It is supposed to be shipped in 1 or 2 days. This is totally FALSE. I think the Amazon.com should list the actual ship date which is 7-13 days.

I will review the product, when I finally get it, soon I hope.

    NIGHTMARE MACHINE
I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS RADIO. TO TURN OFF THE ALARM YOU HAVE TO PUSH 2 BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME. DOING THIS WHEN YOU ARE HALF ASLEEP IS NOT AN EASY TASK AND WE BOTH END UP AWAKE BY THE TIME IT GETS TURNED OFF.

    At least it broke fast
It worked alright for less than a week, and then one morning I woke up to the sound of my CD spinning very fast and scratching against the sides of the CD player. After that, the CD player stopped working altogether.

Even if it doesn't break, you still get what you pay for. It's dual alarm, but only one can be "wake to CD," and the sound quality isn't very good either.

Also, contrary to the Amazon review, I'm fairly sure there's no way to set the alarm for anything less than 7 days (without turning it off manually).

The idea of a [$] CD alarm clock is nice, but I would recommend spending [$] more for an infinitely better one
