Good, but check out the Optra E210Since this printer's "little brother", the Optra E210, came out we have standardized on it. It is a bit cheaper and is actually rated slightly faster at 12ppm. The E210 also seems a bit smaller if desktop space is a concern.
I have not had the noise concerns that another reviewer has expressed.. perhaps I should get my hearing checked!
Excellent print quality and speed, but too noisy for me...
Great PrinterI love this laser printer! It has extremely sharp text. I've owned it for a few years and i'm still using the original cartridge. The Lexmark name for quality holds true with this one.

DONT BUY THIS MONITOR!!!
great picture
Great Monitor FANTASTIC PriceI was looking high and low for a good addition to the Sony Computer I recently bought and I keep coming back to Viewsonic based on recommendations of my co-workers and friends who have Viewsonics and from recommendations in articles. The 17 inch tube is PERFECTLTY flat which is great for webpages and gaming alike. The picture is crystal clear and the colors are vibrant.
I was considering the 'Multimedia' Viewsonic with built-in speakers but if you have good speakers you might want to save your money and get this non-multimedia version. I have heard the speakers on my friend's Multimedia monitor but I thought my speakers were just as good if not better. It's a personal choice. You can always do better with stand alone speakers and a good sub-woofer (a must for gaming).
Setup was a piece of cake and they delivered this thing FAST.
When you open this box you see the quality. It is built to outlast the computer, that's for sure. And at around 37 or 40 pounds it is EASY to lift. Weight is something I was concerned about too. Also you will find that the depth of the monitor is not much greater than a 15 inch monitor. This 17 inch monitor easily fits on my small work area easily with room to spare!
The 25 mm dot pitch gives me a clear view of my work. I fell in love with Gateways VX series monitors which are great. But this Viewsonic E70f is right up there in quality and performance with high-end monitors. And the warranty tells me Viewsonic believes in this monitor's quality. Viewsonic would not have a 3 year warranty if they were darn sure it would last alot longer than 3 years!
I expected to wait a week or more but they delivered in about 3 days! Buy one you will love it!

- 1,600 x 1,200 resolution at 68 Hz
- PerfectFlat screen
- Onscreen display lock function
- Plug-and-Play capabilities
- 3-year limited warranty

Got money to waste? Buy a viewsonic!
Great monitor for the price

LOUSY QUALITYALAS, DON'T BE FOOLED (AND FORGIVE ME FOR THE CLICHE') BUT... YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET! I BOUGHT THE MONITOR AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, RECEIVED IT IN EARLY OCTOBER, AND IT STARTED GIVING ME GRIEF AT THE END OF DECEMBER WITH MOMENTARY FLICKERS. THE FLICKERS TURNED INTO THE SCREEN STRETCHING AT THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM AND BOWING TOWARD THE CENTER. THIS COMMON ANNOYANCE TURNED INTO THE SCREEN SHUTTING OFF AT FIRST PERIODICALLY AND THEN ONCE EVERY TWO MINUTES (I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!)
MY LUCK: OF COURSE, IT IS TOO LATE TO RETURN IT TO AMAZON, SO NOW I HAVE TO "SUCK UP" MY LOSSES AND INVEST IN A HIGHER PRICED UNIT. HOPEFULLY I WILL NOT HAVE THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE NEXT MONITOR I PURCHASE.
THIS IS CRAZY, AS I HAVE OWNED MANY COMPUTERS IN MY LIFE AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME MY COMPUTER HAS OUTLASTED MY MONITOR! I HOPE THIS OFFERS CAUTION TO OTHER PEOPLE. TAKE HEED: SPRING FOR A HIGHER PRICED, MORE REPUTABLE UNIT!
Great value.
Top of the lineSo I finally decided to go out and spend a few hundred on an NEC, which I had not heard a lot about except it was the manufacturer of my CD-ROM. It has a .24 dot pitch, which is standard in this time. This monitor is also very easy on the eyes.. it comes with a lot of built-in features that make sitting behind the monitor for an extended amount of time a joy instead of a headache.
It has suitable resolution support (up to 1280x1024 @ 66 Hz). The monitor also has a very user-friendly setup which is a breeze to control and it comes with a full 3-year warranty.

Lousy software, Terrible support
Excellent Scanner for the priceThe Epson TWAIN software handles USM and de-screening like some of the higher-end scanners, but it lacks precise controls for those features.
Batch scanning is one of the strengths of this scanner, with multiple marquee selection as easy as click and drag, and one-button batch scanning.
This scanner offers one-button capture(Windows only), network scanning and an Automatic Document Feeder option, but we have not explored those options in our workflow.
It gets the job done!At 400 dpi it is fast (40 seconds for 14-bit greyscale 11"x14" scan) and very quiet. I added a SCSI hard drive to get the 50 MB TIF files to save to disk on my NT system in 2 seconds.
The sample size (14-bit B&W or 42-bit Color), resolution and Dmax are unmatched until you spend over $10,000.
Add the Epson 1280 printer for the best photo output.

More Memory
Not Worth the Price PremiumThe core of all the cards (known in technical terms as the "controller") are made by only a few DRAM manufacturers. Those handful of DRAM manufacturers then sell the "controllers" to the major flash card manufacturers (i.e. SanDisk, Kodak, Olympus, and Viking). The flash card manufacturers then simply throw some plastic casings on the controllers, slap on a label, and ship the cards. As long as the flash card manufacturer is reputable, has a good warranty, and has been around for over 5 years; you will be just fine.
What I am trying to get at? I simply want to make it clear that you should not buy a card based solely on the fact it is made by Kodak. Check the pricing against the other major manufacturers (i.e. SanDisk, Viking, etc.) and then make your decision.
High Quality CardIt's even taken a spill or two and it's still working without any glitches. If you need quality and durability with high quality downloads then this card is for you!

so slow as to be unusable
Does the jobis he was referring to the 2200 (a much slower color printer)
or was driving the 3100 via a parallel cable.
I got the printer today and have printed just about everything
in sight, including 8.5x11 inch pictures (1536x2048x16 million
color digital camera images) in regular and fine quality mode.
Certainly it takes the printer longer to print these images,
but thats 15 seconds verses instantaineous. Note that I use
a 100bps ethernet to drive it.
The image quality looks great to me. I picked this printer
because if you add duplexing and a 500 sheet tray to their
lower end printer(the 2200), both options I need, you get
approximately the same total price as well as a printer that
is MUCH slower in color, has a fraction of the CPU speed and
does not do Postscript 3.
The 3100 DN is a win, and gives both a better price and smaller
size than the equivalent HP printer. The other printers in this
class all seemed to have 500 sheets, duplexing or networking
as various options.
Again I would ask the first reviewer to check if he has the
right printer and retract that if not. This printer does not
deserve that writeup at all.
1/2003 postscript:
Have been using this printer for 2 weeks now. This printer has
several features that are apparent only after examining the
unit, and deserve mention. First, it is very quick to come
online from a full energy save mode, about 1 minute. Second,
you can get full status on the printer by accessing the
built in web server (mentioned nowhere I could find in the
documentation), which gives an amazing number of statistics
on the printer, including bar graphs telling you how much
toner remains in each of the colors, how much life (in pages)
are left on each printer component, etc.
Finally, each of the parts that wear out in the printer, the
toner, transfer unit, imaging unit, fuser and feed roller are
user servicable units that can be simply unlatched and
replaced.
The local store discontinued this unit, but is still selling
a certain major brand name printer that is both more expensive
(if you include the same options), larger and, IMHO, uglier
than this printer.
All the features at a low price

Better than nothing, but there must be something better
Weird, but it worksThe drive has worked great. I used it to back up my crucial data just days before my old hard drive crashed. Only four stars because, 1) the plastic box/cd drive are hard to get back together, after you take them apart, and, 2) the Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 software that came with it, hangs under certain circumstances, when you're backing up data. I've personally never seen any 5-star burner software, but I haven't worked with CD burners a whole lot.
Great
