Beautiful for 1-2 years, then backlight fails. For two full years, this monitor was great. The resolution is generous, it is bright, and the fully digital ADC interface is perfect. Colors look good from a wide range of angles. The casing is smart and takes up little space, and it's easy to clean. The touch-sensitive power and brightness buttons are a nice touch that you expect from Apple.
Unfortunately, after two years, the top half of my display suddenly went dim, which is extremely annoying. I wouldn't post a negative review here just because I got unlucky. I am posting here because hundreds of customers have seen their displays fail within the first two years. Just look at Apple's discussion boards to see for yourself. (I can't post URLs in reviews.) Apple has not acknowledged that this is a widespread problem, and repair costs exceed that of a new display. It is also unclear as to whether or not this problem has been fixed in newer models.
Tried 3 other; should have just bought this one!So I finally did what my wife and several friends suggested, spend the $700+ and buy the monitor I knew I really wanted/needed. Save yourself the search and buy the best to start.
Cons: price tag, only Mac compatible, must need ADC.

Not enough bang for the buck
No Problems at allI am currently waiting for my new dual 1Ghz Mac, with the new Nvidia Ti card. Finally card manufactures are paying attention to millions of Mac users, who expect more than just on-board video. ATI has tried to at least keep the market fair, by introducing cards for the Mac, and I supported them for their efforts.

Excellent Printing : REALLY poor scanningI had an old UMAX 2100 scanner with which I'd begun scanning all of my old family photos. It's scan quality was abysmal and this is one of the main reasons I sought to replace my poor printer and poor scanner with this unit. I started scanning photos only to realize that skin tones appeared very yellow, almost jaundiced. White walls appeared beige, and just about everything had a yellow/brown tone to it. I thought maybe it was a calibration issue so I consulted the manual only to find out that there is no calibration. I contacted Lexmark's tech support via Email and they advied me to reinstall the driver software, which I did and the problem remained. I then called their phone support today. I was on hold for only a few minutes and the fellow I spoke with was polite and knowledgable. He surmised that there is probably a problem with the 'scan head' and that I should exchange the unit. I took it back to Best Buy and in the space of 10 minutes I had a new unit. I just arrived back home with it and after installation, I see that it has the exact same problem. This appears to be a design issue and not a defective unit.
Best Buy's exchange process was quick and painless and their price was unbeatable, I have no complaints there (with this purchase...)
I have to applaud Lexmark for excellent print quality and for fabulous tech support, but the scan quality is just awful. The images are sharp, with few artifacts, but the color is WAY off. I could touch up each and every photo with software, but I plan to scan thousands of photos and I'd rather not wast my time that way. I'll be returning the unit and exchanging it for a different model. I intend to try another, slightly higher-end Lexmark unit as I was very happy with the print quality. Perhaps a higher-end unit will have better scan quality.

Fine for home, not for an office. The paper handlers slip neatly into the body of the printer when it is not in use, so it takes up very little desk space. And even when in use it is very neat. The paper holder is vertical, so it takes up no space behind the printer. So only the printed document tray is using up space as you print.
The drawback is the speed. It is very slow, especially printing a full colour document. But there has to be some drawback when you purchase anything, and for the price this is an excellent home printer. Because it is easy to use, the kids are less likely to mess with it.
If you are running an office, forget it! It is just too slow for business use.
Good quality for the pricePrinting is not too fast, but I never had a problem. The software is good and runs great with Xp. Ideal for home use.

Great Contrast, Small Footprint, Poor Color
NEC MultiSync LCD 1525MI'm very pleased with my NEC MultiSync moniter. LCD is the way to go if you can afford it... as the prices go down and the availability of LCD becomes the standard, it will become the only way to view your computer. The NEC has a very small footprint and the weight is a lot less than the CRT.

Great but can be better!
Works well, nicely done. Not only does it allow you to skip songs forward and backward, but it also allows you to control the iPod's volume (it has a mini stereo jack on the back to plug your stereo into). This was a nice added bonus which I didn't even realize it would do when I purchased it. You can also pause playback and even turn the iPod on and off from across the room by holding down the pause button (same way the iPod itself works).
Seems fairly well designed - no complaints so far other than the slightly high price.

Acceptable, but...Nevertheless, even ignoring my pixel problems, I am only giving the monitor three stars. Frankly, given the brand (and the price), I expected a higher quality image.
Certainly, the colors were good. However, the overall image did not appear to be a significant improvement over other 15" LCD displays costing considerably less than the ve510+. ...Actually, I thought the picture was a bit grainy -- but then, maybe I was influenced by the odd and/or missing pixels... :-)
Bottom line, the ve510+ appears is an acceptable monitor. If color is your primary criteria, it may be one of the best choices. However, I cannot recommend the overall picture quality. And, for those on a budget, I feel you can purchase a comparable unit at a significantly lower cost.
Hope this helps!
Great LCD Display, but poor speaker (Radio Quality !)Overall, this LCD is good, It's color is good.
Since I'm in Video Editing fields, the color is really important for me. If you're using it for video / graphics / desktop publishing, I can recommend this one. At first I'm a bit worried on color when using LCD, but, after take a look, the color is great, almost like CRT monitor. The LCD panel had Larger viewing angle (Larger Horizontal and Vertical view)
Other thing which make this product good is so thin (and smaller) compared with other LCDs (including other Viewsonic LCDs). My workspace is very-very limited, but when I remove the CRT monitor and changed to LCD, now I have a lot of space, larger space.
Unfortunately, this is why I only put 4 stars for this product, the built-in speaker is poor, not really good. The quality of the sound is just like hearing radio. I suggest you bought other speakers if audio is an important thing.
Other great things you can have from this, although I'm not using it, you can put this viewpanel on the wall, mounted on the wall. It already had place for screws in the base for attach to optional wall mount adapter.
When buying this unit (or other newer viewsonic monitors), you'll get Viewsonic color Wizard CD-ROM to calibrate your viewpanel. It helps a lot.
Hope this review can help you on making a purchasing decision.
