Poor Monitor at Best
Wow!Update on 7/10/03: Still very satisfied. A solid performer. I'm recommending it to friends.

Nice...except when you need service.So...I send this thing back...it cost me 82.00 to have it packaged and shipped by UPS (Viewsonic won't pay me back)
Viewsonic will replace it...but...since they don't have one in stock...I have to wait. All the resellers have plenty in stock but the factory is out?
I have been waiting over 3 weeks now.
Also I have to call them to get this information. I would think after they promise a 5 day turnaround once they recieved the old on...they would at least give me an e-mail to explain the delay.
If I was not so impressed with the product (when its not on fire)...I would tell everyone to stay away from this company.

A little too expensive for the featuresThe good things about the player is that it's very simplistic. It only has two pieces to it, so you don't have to worry abot a bunch of cables or anything. You slide out the flash drive, plug it into your USB port, and start copying files to it directly from Windows Explorer, which recognizes it as an additional hard drive. The player will hold around 15-18 mp3 songs encoded at 128kbps. This is plenty for someone like me who only runs for 20-30 minutes. It's also nice to have a flash drive that I can easily transfer files with. I have not experienced any effect of the player cutting off the first second of each song like another reviewer said. Every song starts right up at the beginning.
The cons: AT first, I couldn't do anything with this device until I formatted it. Windows would recognize it, but not let me remove or copy any files to it. I tried it on several computers and could only listen to the songs already on it until I found the format software, but it works great now. The player doesn't have an LCD screen, so you can't see what song is playing, although this isn't really a problem with only 64mb of storage space. Another problem, is that it didn't come with the armband. You have to order it seperately from Creative. For a portable MP3 player designed to be used with exercise, this is ridiculous. For the price they should have thrown it in, or at least put a belt clip on it. I have to wear shorts with pockets in them to carry it with me when I run. I also have to hold the headphone cord to keep it from flapping around. The armband would have prevented all this. The player does come with some earphones that suck and a neck loop that is great if you run in the woods or at night where no one can see what an idiot you look like.
The player also features a "loop" button that allows you to start recording a point in one of your songs, press a button, and it will loop the section you recorded over and over. I have no idea what the point of this was, or why they wasted time with it. As far as I can tell, it is completely useless.
My biggest complaint is the battery life. It holds one AAA battery. This is nice for the compact size, but I would have rather it been slightly larger and held tow batteries. I like my music up pretty loud, and my battery is dead after 45-60 minutes. That is unacceptable. I've seen reviews that say the battery life lasts 12 hours at 60% volume. I have never seen that. I have to buy batteries in bulk just to be able to use it. What's more, the Muvo will actually drain amps from your battery when it's turned off. For the life of me I can't figure out why. It's a flash drive, so there should be zero reason it needs to keep power up. It is not very significant, but if you put a brand new battery in and don't turn it on at all, in about two months the battery will be dead from the drain. WMA files also consume more battery usage than mp3 files.
The player also has a skip button that lets you skip tracks and fast forward, but it can act flaky on WMA files, and instead of seeking through a song, just skip right to the beginning. There is also no repeat feature. After the last song, you have to hit play again to restart it. No random song feature either.
Although this player is pretty much outdated now, it would be a decent player. I like the basic design and the controls are easy to use. It's just not worth the current price, and it has too many flaws to use for serious athletes.
A well designed minimalist MP3 playerI've had no problems with the unit and with NiCad rechargeable batteries, I'd say the 12h playing time is an understatement. Sound quality is great, though the included headphones aren't much good. Plug it into a good quality pair (or your home stereo) and you'll immediately notice the great quality sound.
I'd give it a 5 except that the Muvo cannot remember where it left off each time you turn it off. When you turn it back on, it always restarts at the first song in your play list. The good news is that the Muvo's firmware is upgradeable, so Creative will be able to improve on it in the future. Fixing this issue and adding better mac support would get a 5-star rating out of me. Stay away from Iomega
Attractive and Portable, But be WARNED....I bought one used on ebay to take to a job site and do backups on a laptop. My mistake was not reading reviews on this drive and not knowing its limitations. I have encountered nearly every problem listed on other reviews, plus a few new ones.
Do not even bother using the drive to write at higher speeds you will only make coasters.
Also, forget about CD-RW! I have tried at the lowest speeds and I cannot even tell you how many times I have corrupted the file system of the disk in one way or another. I have to do data retreval on one disk I was stupid enough to 'Move' files to. Worked fine...but when I went to view the files the laptop hung...forever - after it was rebooted the CD-RW was corrupted. Files were still there but need to be recovered.
Basically, write at 2x onto CD-R's. Burn a few and unplug the drive because it WILL get hot like others have said.
I hink the Iomega Predator 4x4x6 SucksNow though I'm going through backup of backups of CDR discs as well the drive's conflicting with the PC ie causing it to freeze.
Iomega support are no help, to them their drives are perfect, it's the PC's fault.
I think not.
The moral is DON'T BUY IOMEGA....

Don't Buy!!!My sugestion, if it is for an iPod, buy a Griffin Technology iTrip. They are great!! If not for an iPod, get a cassette adapter.
waste of money, but can be a good cat toyThat's the short of it - don't waste your money on this one.
There are FM transmitters that do work just fine. The one I got after the iRock disaster was the iTrip from Griffin Technology. You can transmit on any frequency on the band, and you can even get international frequencies from their website. If your car can pick up, say 80.5 (it has to be a foreign car) you can use that frequency on the iTrip. It's awesome! The iTrip isn't sensitive like the iRock, either. You can turn your songs on and throw your iPod in the seat next to you, and you don't have to worry about the sound getting staticky. Oh yeah, and you don't have to have a battery for it either. It steals a tiny bit of juice from the iPod.
My old battery draining iRock has now had the (depleted in less than a day) battery removed and is one of my cat's favorite toys.
Weak power outputI found that for my car stereo to receive the signal from the Irock! it needs to sit within 2-3 feet of the antenna. This requirement leaves me only one choice for placement and that is on the passenger side dash. Unfortunately the placement means that every time I turn a corner the Irock! and my MP3 player slide across, and often off, my dash. If I had a car with the antenna in the back this would have been useless.
The low power of this unit allows even very distant FM channels to interfere with reception and causes me to retune to one of the other channel selections often. Also I expected longer battery life, while I can get up to 6 hours on a set of batteries I find that the power output drops quickly after the first 2 hours and requires new batteries or the 2-3 foot antenna distance drops further.
While usable I would not recommend it to any one traveling where there is a possibility of moderate to strong FM in the units operating frequency range.
