Terrible Printer...Don't go this route...
I agree with the folks who discuss clogged print heads. This is a miserable printer and when I approached Epson about it...they were quite flippant and not too helpful. Told me how wonderful it was...not very professional customer service. Yes...It did not cost much...so I am only out all those ink cartridges where I had to do the "clean head" function about 15 times. The final straw was running the "clean head" function 17 times, and still not getting them cleaned. Do I send it back? Nope...I don't want another one and they would not upgrade. It goes in the trash can. I would recommend the Canon i960. Amazon carries it too. I really have a bad taste in my mouth for Epson at this point.

Clogged Print heads
Replacing this printer. The print heads clog all the time if you do not shut the printer off each time after using. Cannot leave on a network. Ink is expesnive because when you run out of one color the whole cartridge has to be replaced. Reading the reviews here confirmed what i had feared that there was a design flaw here and that i was wasting my money on ink cartridges. It is cheaper to just buy a new printer than to keep on buying cartridges for this lemon.

This is the greatest printer ever !!
I have always been partial to Canon and Lexmark printers, but the Epson Stylus 820s blew my mind away. Never had i had the ease of setting up a printer in seconds (i am not kidding...i really mean less than a minute). It has both parallel and USB connectivity, fantastic color print even on normal paper. And get this, the contents of the package include some photo glossy paper. Aside from the fact that it looks cool, it is not noisy like other printers i have used. It also spits out text documents in little or no time. The printer boasts of a feature called Print Imaging Matching (P.I.M), which greatly enhances printouts of digital pictures in outstanding quality..up tp 2800 x 720 dpi. But enough said, i could go on and on and bore people....if you are scouting around for an affordable color ink jet printer but desire just as much quality, look no further than the Epson Stylus 820s. For [the price] it is definitely the deal of the millenium.

Umax 2100u and Windows XP
I bought one of these about 3 years ago and it has given good service, running on Windows 98.

I now have windows XP and as other reviews have said, the software provided with the product does not work at all with XP. However, the critisism in some of the reviews above is not up to date. I have loaded updated software from the Umax site, which was free and works fine with XP. In fact it appears identical in use with the software initially provided.

I still think this is a good scanner, although it is a bit dated and bulky by today's standards.

RA

Better then expected !
I purchased the Astra 2100U ,mostly because the price point for a 32 bit scanner was hard to beat. A little nervous on how it would perform ,however I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up removing all of the software bundled with this product except the VistScan software and the Adobe PhotoShop Home Edition 3.0. I like the ease of use on the copy utility, and use it often. FYI ,I have a P3 750 256M.B.SDRAM O/S WinMe , Iam using ver3.53U of the vistascan software, those having probs and are running WinMe or WinXP can download ver3.55 , I have'nt had any probe so Iam sticking with the originial ver off the installation CD ! If like me you dont use a scanner often, and cant justify spending alot on one ,this is the way to go ! When I frist recieved the scanner I noticed some smugges on the under side of the glass, UMAX support replied quickly to my concerns about this and supplied directions for opening up the case and cleaning the glass top and bottom. I also was concerned because I accidently had the scanner light on all night ,they said if the bulb was to burn out they would replace it!

Great scanner
I received this scanner free from a friend who has bought a new one and I replaced my old ulead scanner with this one. I love the simple use of all of the programs and there is no need to always set up size and pixels settings as in my other one. I don't know if I would have purchased this one to replace my old one but since it was free I am giving it a try and so far I am very pleased. I am running windows me and have had no problems...

Tiny ink cartridges means big money for HP!-DO NOT BUY!
I had an HP Officejet 1170 and gave it awa for this piece of junk! Not only does this All-in-1 have small ink cartridges that seem to run out way before their time...HP also includes an obnoxious popup software to tell you it's time to blow some more money on their bottom line! This feature is unrelenting and leaves me wondering if the cartridges have an internal battery designed to last 30 days regardless of use! Plus, I have never been able to successfully refill these...even the black ink...a great way to mess up the whole device...artfully designed to screw you. In my neck of the woods, adjacent to the second largest city in the USA, no one seems to carry #14 cartridges and when I do find them...what a rip-off! Also, when the fax is used on tone dial, it never works...when HP was made aware of the problem within warantee period...their fix was to have me set it to rotary dial! No repair, no replacement of the disfunctional internal modem...just disable it and go back to 1960's!! What a bunch of crap HP!!! You are theives in the night and I will never buy another HP All-in-1 anything!!!

Great printer for the money
The HP d135 is a wonderful printer. It has everything a home office needs. It prints, faxes, copies and scans as well as any moderately priced, separate copier, fax machine, printer or scanner. The front panel is intuitively designed. It even has cool features that allow you to print or copy multiple pages on 1 sheet, or reduce/enlarge photos or copies effortlessly. I also like the automatic document feeder. The best part of the printer is that it's fast. I generally use the "fast" setting because it saves time and ink.

This is, by far, the best multifunction machine on the market. And, of course, it's an HP. I only gave the printer four stars because the machine is loud and the CD-ROM that came with my machine was corrupt, so I had to download the driver from the HP website. Otherwise, setting up the printer was no problem. I also think it should come with a USB cable (you have to buy it separately). A machine that does everything should include everything you need in the box to hook it up.

NOTE: If you do a lot of two-sided printing, you should consider the HP d145 or d125. Or you can purchase the two-sided printer accessory separately.

ADDENDUM - I had to exchange my first d135 printer because it was leaving streaks on the page and it was putting large yellow drops on the pages. Because of this, I downgraded this printer to 3 stars. Hopefully, this new printer will work better.

Great multifunction but as usual it has a few quirks
I was hoping for the best, but I guess there's no such thing as an all-in-one product that does everything perfectly....

Overall the D135 is a great multifunction. All the functions work very well and in many cases rival the quality of individual components. Uses HPs new print engine with separated ink cartridges and print heads. The print heads are user replacable and are rated at 3 years or 50000 pages (not bad!!). This should be an economical machine to use.

The scanner has been upgraded from the G85 and is better in every way. The document feeder is much better than the G series and the scans are now optically 600 x 1200 48 bit color (unless you have a Mac which is limited to 36 bit I believe).

The fax is also 33.6 color (assuming you find someone else with a color fax)....Plenty of memory for preprogrammed numbers and 10 one touch keys.

Overall The D135 is quite easy to use with good ergonomics and tons of usable features. Also watch for the forthcoming D145 and D155 which add CF, SM and Sony Memory stick slots for digital camera users, a duplexer to allow two sided printing and copying and, in the case of the d155, a second paper tray for power users.

Pitfalls, and there's always a few....

1) Typical for HP printers, prints are often skewed just a little bit on the page. About 1mm off when comparing left to right. This seems to be an HP trait. I tried 4 different D135 machines, all with a similar problem.... Many users won't notice the slight skewing, but I found it quite easily when printing borderless photos.

2) The WinXP software isn't ready yet so the functionality is limited a bit right now. PC faxing yet not enabled yet and sone scanning functions don't work yet (including OCR unless you buy an off the shelf Twain compliant OCR program).

3) The scanner head is a bit noisy. No biggie, just thought I'd bring it up. Don't expect to use it in the bedroom while the wife is sleeping!!!

Despite the quirks, overall HP has a winner!!

Not a long-lasting printer
I've had the same experience as several others. My printheads are all causing horizontal lines on the pages I print and the cost to fix will be over one hundred dollars (I suspect the printheads all need replacing). I've had this MFC for a little over 2 years. I don't print to it often, so it has to clean the ink cartridges every time, which takes several minutes. I also have to replace the cartridges quite often. Unfortunately, the Brother printers are the only ones I can get through my work program. Otherwise, I would definitely get something other than a Brother printer. I've used Epson and HP laser printers and love them.

A great All-in-One Device
I got an MFC-9200C on April 16 and began using it immediately. As a copier (mono or color), it is worth the $ I paid. I can drop a stack of papers into the sheet feeder and it runs them through without any problems, making excellent copies. Although not great, the color matching while copying is good. Another sheet feeder advantage is the ability to scan several pages; priceless for entering multipage documents into an application. If you want to FAX, there is no need to use the computer, the 9200C can operate independently as a FAX machine. It also has ports for CompactFlash and SmartMedia cards but I have not used them at all. I was leery of buying an all-in-one device because of reliability concerns but I am glad got the MFC-9200C. I saved many hours scanning a 200-page document into Adobe without any problems or having to individually handle all those pages. Since it has a flat glass surface, you can scan (or copying) several small items (like receipts) at once or pages from a bound book. As a printer, it is a little noisier than I would prefer but the output is high quality and fairly fast. Discount ink cartridges are not yet available but their cost is not too high. I would certainly buy this device again and highly recommend it to anyone who frequently needs to scan or wants the convenience of a home copier.

Great Value ! Great Performance !
I recently replaced an HP scanner and Epson laser printer with the Brother MFC-9200C. Used in a simple home network, we primarily need it for everyday PC document printing and photocopying.

My wife really appreciates the "stand-alone" copier and fax functions, and we are all impressed with its overall speed and quality. This device makes photocopies in about half the time it previously took to scan (on a fairly speedy scanner) and print on a laser printer ... and the quality is as good or better.

My daughter has fun trying to see if she can spool a school report from her PC to the Brother MFC-9200C and get downstairs before the printed page is in the tray! She's pretty fast, but most of the time the MFC-9200C is faster!

The software that comes with the Brother MFC is easy to install and use. So far, this is one of the best purchases I've made.

Worst Epson I've ever owned
This printer would be a poor value if it was free. The print quality is good and it does not seem to fade like HP ink. The problems are a poor paper feed that routinely picks up 3 or 4 sheets, an ink system that clogs continuously (requiring head cleaning many times a day), a tendency to smear ink on the pages, and very high ink consumption.

Great print quality...but too many other aggravations
First the good news...this printer makes great quailty photo and document prints for the money. For me, that ends the good.
Aside from that, it has many other issues that drive me nuts. First, it takes what seems like an eternity to print the first page. Goes through a bunch of gyrations until it decides its ready to print. Its also very loud, and I think uses a lot of ink (maybe thats why the prints look so good). Finally, the thing jams pretty regularly. Its not a printer you can load a bunch of paper in, print a large document and walk away assured that when you return it will be done. More than likely, it will have jammed.
Bottom line...if you don't print too much and want quality prints, this one may be for you. If you are looking for an everyday printer...forget it.

Good Printer!
I was unsure of my decision to buy this printer from a lot of the other reviews I had read (they wern't so good) and I had had a lot of issues with my old 785EPX, but still like Epson's quality above all others. I have used Epson printers for the last 5 years, starting with the 875DCS. The 785EPX worked great for the first year and then went crazy, mostly about the ink cartridges, I would have to clean the heads 5 times before I would get a clear good print. The reason I choose the 925 over the 825 was the new ink cartridges. I decided to give it a try and went ahead and bought it (mostly becuase I needed a new printer and had some mail in rebates for it).

I have had the printer for about 2 months now and have not had any problems at all! No issues with paper feeding or ink (in the 785EPX I was having streaking issues), I leave my printer on all day everyday and when I havn't used it in awhile it takes a minute for it to warm up, but otherwise this printer had resorted my faith in Epson! I highly suggest it over the 825 (becuase of the cartridges).

Guess what...poor calibration
I bought a Gravis Gamepad Pro about 7-8 years ago and it is still going strong to this day. My 6 year old and I have been playing Wakeboarding unleashed and knew we needed another gamepad. So this past weekend I bought the Gravis Eliminator Gamepad Pro. Unfortunately, I cannot calibrate it correctly. It keeps wandering to the left or right.

When i called Gravis and asked, the lady with the foreign accent at tech support tried telling me that it was the game and that I needed to try another. I told her this was my only game. She said then that a technician would call me back.... still waiting.

It's going back to the store.

Good, good.
Well, in my opinion, this is a good gamepad. The problem is for me is that it doesn't have a 15 pin connector, just for USB. I couldn't use it because my 98 is unstable. So that means it is only for 98 and up (they said so, if people say 95, don't believe them). Well, the D pad is like a joystick, moveable in all directions. The buttons and shoulder buttons are labeled in numbers, from 1 to 10. It does look like a PS1 controller, without analog joysticks or whatever you call them. There is a CD for you to configure the buttons, even you can probably try doing specials in games. For my controller (I returned it, no other had a 15 pin connector), I had a bit of trouble with L1 (think of a PS1), I had to push it a bit more harder than the others, probably won't happen for you. This gamepad will do well in SNES emulators (I hope). Just mess around with the thing until you get it right. It is just a bit hard reaching for the shoulder buttons.

The best gamepad out there!
First of all, I'd like to say that this gamepad beats all other gamepads. I did about two straight weeks of reasearch for this gamepad and even tested it in stores. I think that it is a lot better than any of the Microsoft gamepads because the great D-pad. What I like about the D-pad better than Microsoft's D-pad is that it is a lot bigger and easier to move because it is like a big joystick. I would also like to say that the Precision function is great for shotting games for targetting. Last of all, I found the gamepad was a lot more comfortable than Microsoft's and other brands of gamepads. It gave me a nice grip too. Also the buttons are pretty easy to reach, accept for the four action buttons which were a little far appart, but I didn't think I should take away a star for that. Well, anyway, I highly recomend this gamepad for anyone who really want's to do well in their games.

Bad Choice
IT's not USB 2.0, with the same amount of money you can buy a USB 2.0 Hub that will work better.

Not Recomended.

A world of trouble
Don't buy this! I used this on a Mac. It worked OK when I just had a couple of devices on it, but when I added a Wi-Fi USB adapter, it caused frequent computer crashes on startup, loss of Internet connection, and freezing of my mouse. I thought it was the adapter's fault, but after reading the reviews here, I bought a D-Link USB hub to replace it. Haven't had a problem since!

Inexpensive hub for non-powered devices
I've had this USB hub for about six months, and it has worked flawlessly so far, with one very notable flaw. Devices, which derive their power from USB, like some webcams, cameras, and scanners will not work with this device. So far, my webcam is the only thing that will not work with the hub. My mice, yoke, usb pedals, joystick, PDA/phone cradle, and anything else I have plugged in worked fine.

The AC power adapter is bulky, and not really needed considering this box doesn't act like a good self-powered USB hub anyway. I was able to disconnect power and it still works fine (and free up some space on my power strip).

espon c43 ux = worthless
i bought this printer a year ago. It was really cheap, till I found out that they probably make all the money from the ink, that manages to run out faster than any other printer I used. So I go on the epson canada website, and they have a ' Will reply within 24 hours ' message. Its been 2 weeks. The printed doesnt print anymore, i got new ink, and all it gives are black lines and a faded yellow on the paper, looks like the head is gone. This is the last time, I or anyone asking me about a printer, are ever going to get an epson one. (wish there was a no star rating)

Don't buy this printer!
The ink cartridges for this printer are extremely small and are expensive for the amount of printing they can do. Also, if the colour cartridge is out it will not let you print with black ink, even if black is full. In other workds, both cartridges need to have ink in order to print. This has been a very frustrating purchase.

Epson C42 Ux
This is without a doubt the worst printer ever made.It clogs up easily after just printing a few pages,,and the results are black lines, and black dots.Epson tech support says you need to clean the nozzle. It wastes a lot of ink to clear up the problem, and it would not take too long before the problem comes back.Epson has replaced this printer for me three times. The problems are the same from unit to unit.It uses up black ink like crazy during normal use, making it really one of the most expensive inks around based on the small cartridge size.It is noisy, and slow.I can live with that, but the quality of the printing is the pits.I am going to toss this printer out soon.No more Epson products for me.The model should be more accurately labeled the C-42 SUX

My printer died too.
My printer died last night. Searching for a solution, I found these posts describing the exact same problem with the carriage. Its very disappointing because I purchased it for the HP name. I used it minimally-- not more than 50 printed pages. I would not recommend this product.

So far so good...

The images I printed look good at "Normal." My printouts are only for filing and invoicing purposes, NOT DISPLAY NOR ARCHIVING. (This HP Deskjet 3420 prints "Best" quality at 2400 dpi. What dpi is "Normal?" You know, I'm not too sure but I'm happy with my results!)

The two cartridges are each approxiamately $22 bucks. Find a printer that has cartridges that cost less and it will probably have four or more different cartridges. Right off that's a more expensive printer. And changing all four will likely be the same price.

At "Normal" settings, I've been able to print approxiamately forty 4 by 6 inch color photos with the initial cartridges. Add about 40 pages of black text. If I get 100 more pages of text and 30 to 40 more photos without changing the cartridges, I'll be very happy.

If the printer lasts three years, cartridge prices remain below $25 and print quality does not visibly diminish, I'll be satisfied with this purchase.

In the store just before I made my purchase, the Lexmark salesperson exhibited the Lexmark Z605 printer. It prints best quality at 4800dpi, which is better thant the HP Deskjet 3420. The Lexmark Z605 costs 50 bucks, which is cheaper. But the cartridges, according to the sales representative, cost $30, which is more expensive. (Do they have more ink than the HP deskjet 3420 cartridges? I don't know.) I've never had a Lexmark and don't know about there reliability. The sales rep was not very convincing.

The cartridges cost $22. I've worked with HP brand and I know they make good reliable printers. (They also make products that are very disappointing.) But I was more willing to risk purchasing an HP. Also the HP Deskjet 3420 is not large and doesn't take up a lot of desk space to me. For those reasons, I chose this printer.

Be careful with your decision and good luck!

Great Printer for a Cheap Price
I just bought this printer, and I have been trying them out for a couple of days now. So far it has been working great. Here is my input about this Item.

Pros:
1. VERY Simple to install. Just plug the USB wire from the printer to your pc/laptop or mac (and the power-chord too) and you ready to go.
2. Works great with Windows XP.
3. Compact in space, excelent for small rooms.
4. Prints great photo picture.
5. You can see how much ink you have left on your monitor.
6. Ink easy to install.
7. Black ink cartridge is cheap too. (Which I always buy since I print a lot of documents. Average Cost: $18)
8. Prints really fast in Econofast mode. And the quality is still good.

Cons:
1. Uses ink fast, if you print a lot of pictures.
2. Coloured ink cartrige is expensive for something so small.(Average Cost: $25)
3. Kind of noisy when printing in normal-mode.
4. You have to buy the USB wire separately, (but so does every printer that you buy. Cost about 20 dollars or less.)

Who should buy it?
1. People that lives in dorms.
2. People that prints schoolworks, homeworks, letters, reports several times a week.
3. People who prints photos once-in-a-while.

Who should NOT buy it?
1. Heavy printer uses.
2. Digital Photographers, cause you will end up buying a lot of coloured ink cartridges.

So my overall comment is:
NOT BAD for something cheap and and small.

very expensive - not reliable
Paid huge money for big storage MB. Recharge system does not work and AA must be used. Often firmware will lock up and it must be re-booted. Lots of trouble getting audible books onto the device. Have bought two RIOs now and both are not a good value.

Rio 900 192 MB MP3 Player
I bought this (refurbished)player on line after joining the audible.com program. After three days the player malfunctioned. When I called their "customer service" I find that "Realaudio" has acquired the company. They were very nice in advising me that the 900 had been discontinued but would be replaced with a comparable model. So after I sent the unit to them in Arizona at my expense they promptly replaced the unit with a (refurbished) Rio S50.

When I contacted them to advise that the S50 DOES NOT support the audible format that I had initially bought the unit for, I was politely told that they were sorry but they had no plans support any players using the audible format in the near future.

not a good product
I received my rio 900 as a gift and have had nothing but problems with it from the very beginning. Real Player didn't recognize the mp3 player unless I plugged and unplugged it in several times, turned it on and off... after a while (5-10 minutes) of fiddling with it, it would finally recognize it and I could load music onto it. After a while, the player would tell me it had a full charge and then just shut off after a few minutes. Then it wouldn't turn back on unless plugged into the charger. After finding shareware to replace the software that came with this device I have found that I don't have to play games to get realplayer to recognize it again. Today we pulled out the batter and placed a regular AA battery and it works just fine. I'm ordering a rechargeable energizer battery to see if that will work. For now, AA batteries will suffice.

for the money spent on this, it should not have performed like this... poor software and a defective battery. I will be sure not to recommend this to anyone and I will never by another thing from sonicblue.
