Warning this mouse contains lead
This was replacement from the company because I old one didn't work well at all.

On the back of the packaging there's a sticker added to the back of the instruction manual which says something about lead in the mouse cord and that California recognizes this as a health hazard and to wash your hands after touching the mouse cord etc...

it's a great mouse but their previous MIB didn't have this problem. I would give it a five but because of this lead issue I won't.

Lastly, it doesn't fit a regular Macintosh Keyboard because the adapter is too long. It can only be used on a Mac pro keyboard. crazy

anyone know where i can get an old MIB?

very slow
This printer is horrifically slow on all but the basic setting. Click on "better", or heaven forbid "best" quality (which still isn't so fantastic) and you will be waiting, and waiting, and waiting for you paper--try printing a 50 page document and you may as well go out for coffee. By the way, I'm talking Black and White, not color, in which case you may as well go to bed and get your document in the morning. It is small, which is a plus (and hey, for us it came free with another computer). I keep mine in the kitchen for laptop use. But for any serious printing, I have to use my HP.

It's good but...
I bought it and loved it. The resolution was great, it saved valuable desk space, it has a great look to it, the price was right, and it handled everything I threw at it.

But after only 8 days of having it there is a line across the screen about a quarter-way down. It won't go away. After only eight days! I hadn't heard of Microtek monitors before this one but I have to say that my first experience has turned out a poor one.

Not for everyone
This monitor could be an excellent choice for the casual computer user in an office, but it is not the right choice if you work with graphics, or if you're particular about image quality.

On the plus side, this monitor is inexpensive, and the image is razor-sharp, edge-to-edge, and has good brightness.

On the minus side, the entire screen image size changes by as much as several millimeters when the screen brightness changes (like when opening or closing an application window), which will drive you nuts if you open and close windows frequently. This is probably due to insufficient power supply regulation. Also, the screen geometry on mine was not good, with the top-left part of the screen curving down, etc. There is also a slight, but noticeable, color variation across the screen horizontally. If you were viewing a web page with a white background, the left side of the screen would look slightly bluish, while the right side would look slightly yellowish.

I returned this monitor and purchased the NEC FE 750, which is a much better monitor in my opinion. My only (minor) complaint is that there is still a slight color variation across the screen; but it is barely perceptible, and not enough to make me return this monitor. All of the other problems associated with the FE 700 are not present in the 750.

Painful!! What a disappointment
I actually preordered this prior to its release about 3 years ago, and since have wasted countless discs additional money on a Firewire PC card (didn't help at all) and have banished this unit in the trash heap of old PC parts. I eventually purchased an internal CD burner for my laptop, and a different Iomega external drive.

Frankly, I'm surprised Iomega still develops this product. Reading these current reviews, I see the same problems I communicated with them in the past have not been resolved.

I think they named it the Predator since it acts as a Predator to your CDs, rendering them useless and causing an amazing amout of frustration.

Very disappointed
I thought this would be the perfect solution. I hoped to use it with my PC laptop as well as my iBook and G4. Whoops. My ratio of successful burns to wasted CD-R blanks is about 5 to 1. That really inflates the cost of media.

Connections are suspect, provided software doesn't support much, and other applications don't recognize the drive.

I'm ready to give up while I still can. I sure hope this is not the state of the art.

Works great for me!
I don't know what you are talking about , this CDRW working very well ... after few tests I have found out that it's all about the burnning software , Easy CD Creator ver 5 and up will do the job , Nero as well , no problem , ANY CD BURN - works fine for me !!
I don't understand the bad reviews

Print Quality Degrades the More You Use This Printer
Our company has two HP 4600dtn units located in completely different states and both are experiencing nearly identical print quality problems.

After 12 months (Unit 1) and 6 months (Unit 2) of use our print quality has degraded substantially and many times is so poor that we are unable to send out client literature.

For the $8,000+ our company has spent on these printers we should not be getting the kind of smudges, streaks, specs, and blurry lines you might expect from a cheap ink jet with a dirty cartridge head.

The print quality problems are made worse when you use the duplex and/or booklet features.

Our pre-purchase tests (on new units in the showroom) and our early experience was excellent. However, it seems that these machines are anything but "maintenance free" and trying to make them fully automated may be what is causing the degradation in quality over time.

We would not spend this money again on these machines and based on this and other problems we have seen with HP we are seriously considering switching vendors.

Severe Toner Cartridge Problems
I work for a government department (USDA), and we have an HP4600 that has developed a serious problem with the toner cartridges.

For several months, the printer has performed extremely well, producing fast and accurate color output. On performance I would rate it 4.5 stars. However. . . read on...

Suddenly, the print output began producing a wide reddish band on one side of the printed page. Further inspection revealed that the magenta cartridge was leaking toner. Efforts to clean the printer and restore the print quality were not successful. A major repair or replacement may be required.

NOTE: There was no printer difficulty (paper jam, power outage, print interruption) that led to this problem.

I found this web site, after "Googling" the HP4600C and the specific problem. I discovered that my suspicions were confirmed. I am grateful to the other members here at this web site who wrote their reviews and help me track down the problem.

HP needs to stop the denials and FIX THIS PROBLEM. There is either a serious quality control issue with the toner cartridges or a serious printer malfunction that is leading to cartridge failure.

Inconsistent colors
I have used HP Color LaserJet 4600n printer for a year, and while it has impressed me with fast printing and good features, it has periodically produced inconsistent colors on the outputs. For a printer at this price range, it is very disappointing. Unlike the two previous reviewers, I have never encountered toner leakage nor smudged/blurry outputs. My experience has been that after printing every few hundred pages or so, the output would look a little too blue, or too red, or too yellow, and progressively worse over time. To make it look normal again, I would have to re-calibrate the printer, sometimes more than once. After another few hundred pages, the problem would resume.

I have installed the latest firmware (dated 7/22/2003, downloadable from HP's web site), but to no avail. The inconsistent colors just keep on happening. At HP's user support forum, a lot of people also seem to have this problem.

This problem also occurs when any toner cartridge is low on toner (in fact, the manual does say something to that effect). Also, after I change a toner cartridge, I have to calibrate the printer at least 2-3 times before the output is normal again. Each calibration takes about 5 minutes.

The toner cartridges cost $180 each (cheapest online price) for cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges, and $130 each for black. Each cartridge has a microchip inside that "tells" the printer whether it has been used on that printer. This is, of course, a way to discourage the buying of refurbished cartridges. Since consumable items rack up *major* revenue for manufacturers, they always want you to buy the ones THEY make.

One important issue related to toner cost is toner coverage, which is the percentage of a page that is covered with toner. Knowing the toner coverage helps to determine how long a toner cartridge will last. The 4600n printer keeps a record of your historical color coverage, which you can also print out. After a year of printing mostly color graphics of varying sizes, the printer shows that my coverages for cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) are 11%, 13%, 12%, and 7.5%. Based on HP's claim that each cartridge lasts for 8000 pages at 5% coverage, I was able to calculate MY page count for each cartridge: 3768, 2998, 3294, and 5398 pages for CMYK respectively. With the above toner prices, that comes to about 24 cents per page. Note that I only print pages of varying sizes. If you always print full-size pages, your coverage and cost per page may be significantly higher.

The HP 4600 series comprises of several models: 4600, 4600dn, 4600dtn, 4600hdn, and 4600n. They all have a few differences in features from one another. So be sure to check out the product info at HP's web site, and confirm with the seller which model he or she is selling. The model number is labelled on the printer itself.

Bad choice--do not buy
Two problems: first the card did not work in our brand new digital Nikon camera while we were on vacation. Second, tech support/help line was an endless loop of recorded nonsense--never again do we want to spend precious vacation time listening to "Press 1 for...." Do not buy this product.

A waste of money
I haven't had the reliability problems spoken of here when used in my Canon A70. However, I have had compatibility problems when trying to download using a third party USB 2.0 card reader. This is the only brand of compact flash that was incompatible out of four others I tried. I was forced to download directly from the camera at USB 1.1 speed.
Also, this thing has a write speed at least half as fast as other CF cards available (except for Sandisk). It slowed photo operations significantly.

Digital camera user
I bought a 128 PNY CF memory card for my Minolta 404 almost two years ago, made thousands of pictures and down load many times. Never have problems. It was kind slow when I made fine quality (TIFF) pictures.

Ink Eater!
Although this product is advertised as being a small office solution, anybody that has actually used it in an office environment will be aware that this thing eats ink! For small home use only. Office users beware!

Looks good but I had a real problem with fax line. Returned.
This prduct is not for that price. I had a real problem with the fax line and failed to work. The HP customer service people were nice and they tried to solve the problem on phone. Failed and returned the item.(defective)

save your money
I purchased this a year ago. The software leaves much to be desired. It has not ever been able to scan. Originally, I had a pentium 3 with excessive memory. The hp tecs said it did not work because I was memory deficient. I have since purchased a mac os 10.3. I called hp twice before purchase to confirm that they supported this operating system and they reassured me that they did. Guess what? Won't scan. Everything that this thing needs to do, needs to be done from the printer, not the hp director except print documents. It also pulls through multiple sheets and prints on all and is noisy. Pick something else!

Black Screen - Horizontal Line in the Middle
I have the same exact problem everybody else did!! I used it for a little over a year, it was awesome while it lasted... then I get that same problem. Black Screen , only a white horizontal line in the middle. Thats it. When you turn it on sometimes it works for like 90 seconds, and then goes bad again. It's way too much hassle to send it back, I'll just throw this in the trash and get a new one, from another brand of course.

Stay away from this product.

P.O.S.
Don't buy this. I bought it also based on PC mag reviews that it was an excellent monitor for the price. I've had it maybe a year and now I have the exact same problems everyone else has mentioned, flickering and complete loss of picture.
I'm a bit irked that I'm out 200+ bucks, however, if my option is to pay $60 to send this one back, get someone else's broken monitor and then get told it's my fault, I might as well kick it to the curb and buy one from another company.
Now I'm temporarily using the 6+ year old dell monitor that came with an old computer while I decide what to buy.

Was VERY happy ---- for about a year. Then.........
I purchased this monitor based on the recommendation from PC World magazine as one of the top rated monitors (Jan 2003). I was very happy until April of 2004. I now get flickering and tearing at both the top and bottom edges of the screen. Occasionally, I lose the whole picture and it goes completely black except for a very bright thin horizontal line in the center of my screen. If I hit the monitor on the side a few times, the picture comes back (for a while). I don't know how much longer this will work, however. I fear it will soon completely die.

The monitor is still under warrantee, but from what I understand, you must contact NEC and give them a credit card # for security, and they will send you a refurbished replacement. Once you get it, you must then box up the old monitor and send it to them at your expense (probably around $60). If they determine the problem is from damage or neglect, they charge your credit card for the replacement. If not, I guess they fix up the broken one enough to give away to another customer who has problems.

I'm thinking it would be better just to write it off as a bad purchase and buy another brand.
