IBM Makes a Great Keyboard!
Well, I finally became tired of my generic keyboard and decided to shop for a higher end one. Even from my first use, it was clear that the Active Response was made for me. It worked very well and was the perfect addition to my archaic computer. The color even matched the walls of my office! The keys on the keyboard were quieter than my old one, thus making my computer experience a little more soothing. Also, the palm rest was much more comfortable than the corner of my desk. It was that feature that made it stand out form most of the other keyboards on the market these days. If you are looking for a new keyboard for work or home, the Active Response keyboard will surely work for you.

If you like your laptop keyboard, you'll like this product
I bought this keyboard when I was trying to replace my MS Natural Elite keyboard with something that included a pointing device. I liked this keyboard enough that I didn't return it, but I'm back using my Microsoft Natural Elite because I've gotten so used to the keyboard layout.

Unlike some other combination keyboard/pointing devices, this one works very well. They keyboard feel is quite good, with a very short, sharp throw on each key, and a well positioned and easy to use pointing device. The only problem with this keyboard is that it is laid out like a laptop keyboard, which means that some keys are too small and oddly located.

In all, its a good choice if you want a keyboard on your desktop that matches the keyboard on your laptop

      Very good stylus
When the original stylus that came with my Palm m515 started to slip out of its storage slot, I decided I needed a replacement. I ordered several different brands to find the stylus that suited me best. Of the four different m500 series replacement styli that I tried, this one was second only to the LandWare Floating Point Stylus. This stylus has a metal shaft, good weight, and it fits nicely into the storage slot. It also contains a ball point pen that is accessed by pulling off the end cap, and a reset pin that is accessed by unscrewing the tip. This is a good choice if you can't justify paying the LandWare Floating Point Stylus' high price.

      Typa Typa, Typa...
The iConcepts Portable Keyboard has a tiny form factor for easy storage, but opens up to a near full size keyboard, with excellent tactile response to the keys, but wish it felt a little more like a real keyboard like the offering from Targus. It also works everytime and there are no batteries needed!(It also drains very little power from your PocketPC). The iConcepts Portable Keyboard is a very compact 70-key keyboard. They can be hard to get used to because of the different feel, and the keys are much smaller. The depth of the keyboard is also compressed down which can cause some problems for people with large hands. The only problem I have found with it is that you needed a flat surface to place it on in order to use it -- you could not set it on your lap or it may fold in the middle.

When folded for travel, the unit is not much bigger than your PDA and it is also very light. This unit was made for the mobile professional.

This is great if you are a fast typer and don't want to lug a notebook to meetings or need to type up a quick memo or email.
I myself found this product extremely useful due the fact that I can type much faster than write or hunt and peck on the digital keyboard. The great thing about this product from the other keyboard products that are out there, like the thumb keyboard in that it has CTRL and ALT keys among others that are used while typing.

If you plan to do alot of data entry whether it be notes, contacts, word documents, email, or navigating excel spreadsheets on your Jornada, I highly recommend this product and the USB HotSync and Charger from Sakar International for your Jornada.

      near perfect
This product is excellent!!! The only reason I am awarding this product only four stars is because of some difficulties I had during the set up. At first my mouse was freezing and missing commands for the first day I owned it. You have to make sure during setup that you secure both the keyboard AND the mouse to the receiver by programming them seperately to ONE of the two channels. Make sure they are not operating on the same channel or you will have major problems. You would think that the software would not let this occur, but it does. I am not new to computers and I consider myself experienced when it comes to anything to do with computers. I installed a CD R/W drive the same day and it was cake compared to figuring out the bugs in this set up. After the confusion, when you do get this working and set up correctly it is an outstanding product which is why I have to give it four stars. I highly recommend this product to anyone considering going wireless. Logitech is an outstanding company, we have many of their products at my work. The one thing that is extraordinary about this product is the hot keys. You can not only put one program or website on a key, but a whole list of functions can be on one key. The other great and of course obvious function of this setup is less garbage on your desk by not having wires everywhere and the ability of free movement.

        Good price.
If you need a mouse that you won't fret if you loose it or break it by dropping it in the floor, this is the one. I bought this mouse to use with my laptop when I don't feel like using the touchpad. It has a middle button that can be customized to perform different fuctions, such as page down, home, end, or F1 through F12 function keys. However, its shape is not as ergonomic as more expensive mice.

          Good hardware.
First thing: This keyboard is not "Palm only". I bought it to use wih my Ipaq 1945 and it works well. It's the Micro Innovations Wireless Link Keyboard (TKB680PK), and according to Pocketop (another company that sells the same keyboard) there is no difference between this keyboard and the TKB700U model. So, at this moment there are three entrances at amazon that sell the same product.

This little keyboard is an excelent hardware. It's big enough form me to type almost as quickly as on my desktop computer, (I've got used to it very quickly) and still it's very small when closed (not much bigger than a Palm M500). The idea of using smaller ridged keys on the first and third rows (the central key row uses full size keys) gives an excelent combination of size and functionality. My feeling when typing is of a laptop keyboard, although it's a bit smaller. I've read some reviews that criticize the fact that there is no tab key present. I was surprised when I noticed that there is one. The Esc key functions both as tab and Esc key. It does not bother me that there are no number keys, as I don't use them very much (you can type numbers pressing the "num key" and the correspondent letter). The punctuantion signs you would usually find at the number keys can be found with the letter keys, pressing them and at the same time the "Punct" key. It's very usefull that letters, numbers, functions and punctuation signs are impressed with different colors on the keys (white, red, blue and green), so you can quickly visualize them. It doesn't bother me also the "grooved" shape of the space bar. It's a very inteligent solution to allow the space bar to be higher than the other keys. One last quality I see on this keyboard: it uses common AAA battery (and it comes with a duracell alcaline one). All these reasons made me not regret buying this keyboard instead of the targus universal wireless one, which would be better if it wasn't so big and heavy (it's almost impossible to carry it in your pocket).

For iPAQ 1900/4100 users like me there's an incovenient: the stand does not have a mirror to use with the lateral infrared. I've read some reviews that suggest to use a screen rotation software so that you can point the pda infrared receiver to the keyboard. As I didn't want to do that, I made a litle aluminum mirror to use with the stand. I keep it inside the keyboard when it's closed and it works very well.

I've said this is a very excelent piece of hardware, with lots of original and practical solutions to keep at the same time a good functionality and small size. My congratulations to the engineers that designed it.

Unhappily I can't say the same thing about the drivers... I have not used the Palm drivers. I haven't even opened the cd that comes with the keyboard because there's no 1945 Pocket PC 2003 driver there. Micro Innovations does not have drivers available for iPAQ 1945. Pocketop does, but you have to pay $10 for it. As I don't think it's legal to sell drivers for a universal keyboard that claims it will be the last keyboard you will ever have to buy (because it's a universal keyboard), I've got the link to download the driver from a reviewer that thinks like me.

The driver works well and almost always you want to use it. Sometimes it hangs and you have to do a soft reset, which is not very good. The PPC drivers does not allow to modify character repeat delay or repeat rate. It does not have screen rotation capacity for those who want to use it. It does not permit the direct use of accented characters (the manual says you have to tap the screen and choose the character you want, which is absurd). This is real a problem for those like me that usually write in Spanish and Portuguese. Happily, you can configure macro commands, so I've configured "Cmd key + a" for á, "Cmd key + e" for é, and so on. After memorizing all the combinations I created it's a good solution. Of course I cannot use these key combination to insert text anymore...

I hope some day Micro Innovations will came up with a good (and free) driver for my 1945 iPAQ. Meanwhile I'm using the Pocketop driver, which looks like a beta test more than a finished one.

          Advantages and Disadvantages
I have been running the wireless keyboard and mouse for about a half a month. I use it in my living room, so not being tied down with wires is what attracted me to the mouse and keyboard. And it accomplishes that goal.

The disavantage is that you need to be within 5 feet of the base station, or they won't work. Also, you must be parrallel with the base station. Therefore the range of the wireless keyboard and mouse is between 3 and 5 feet of the base station. If you are getting the combo for unlimited mobility, then you may want to wait until they expand the distance from the base station, or be prepared to purchase a USB extention.
