5+ great modem! Works with OSX!
After searching for usb v92 modems that works with Mac 10.3 I stumbled on this one. I contacted the company, and they quickly responded that it works with my system. So I reluctantly ordered the modem, not thinking it would work. Not only did it work, but OSX detected the modem, and did most of the set up for me!

Also, the v92 standard is giving me noticable faster surfing on pages. Not blazing fast, but faster.

    Highly recommend this modem!

    A very high quality modem
I have four MultiTech Multimodems (three of this particular model) and I am extremely well pleased with both the quality and reliability of these products.

If you want one of the best modems available (and, as I am, are sick of suffering from connection/maintainance problems, etc. caused by inferior modems from other companies) then this, or the topscale MultiTech MT5600BA-v.92 modem, which I also have, is a clear choice. Sometimes, a dollar saved in buying a lesser quality modem is thousands of dollars wasted in continual hassles. Trust me, I have had five or six truly lousy modems from one particular company and, in contrast, have never had a single problem with MultiTech.

Make sure, after installing, that you update the modem firmware and the drivers from the multitech website. These modems are slightly conservative in establishing a connection and the update may result in a one notch higher connection speed.

56k Lan Modem is much better than expected.
Upon connecting this thing up I was pleasantly surprised, because everything worked the first time. It even dialed the home website to see if a firmware upgrade was available and I then received the new feature set which included support for up to 25 users. The web browser (password protected) set up, gives the network administrator complete control over user defined access and includes multiple ISP setups. A complete set of browser accessible manual troubleshooting/maintenance functions is included. This is probably the only PC related product I have ever purchased that I was completely (and more) satisfied. I am right now considering a DSL upgrade because DSL in now available in my area, but until I find a router which has all of the features of this unit, it will be hard for me to change. If you are in an area where you cannot get high speed DSL or cable access than this is problably the best thing going. I find that I get close to 56k reliably on downloads from my ISP. The multi-user functionality works flawlessly. One drawback is you will need to use an ISP which gives you the DNS settings which is not something the free ISP's like to do. AOL is also not supported by direct dial connection to AOL numbers (must be connected via TCP/IP to the LAN modem through another ISP), but if you're like me you don't want to use AOL anyway.

LAN Modem enables up to 4 computers to share its modem
I have installed one of these and recommended that someone with less experience than me install one. I also installed a similar ISDN LAN modem. The installation is a breeze. And it works without a hitch.Any of the four computers trying to access the Internet causes the modem to dial in to the ISP. If the modem is already dialed in, the connection is instantaneous for a user accessing the Internet. One of the four computers has a program to manage the LAN and to test the ISP.
One has to set up the network in the usual fashion, which is quite easy, if a little laborious.
So you can share files among computers on the LAN as well as all computers on the LAN sharing a modem. One can hook a hub in as one computer to increase the number of computers on the LAN, but that would be stretching the modem.
Of course, if all four computers are on the Internet at the same time, the access will be slow for each one of them.

        Cheap Embedded Linux Platform
This is the perfect device to purchase to get started with working on Embedded Linux. It is a relatively inexpensive item compared to many reference boards for sale, and it runs uClinux, which has a very active developer community and support site.

Actiontec itself is also open to people modifying these devices, and therefore may provide some developer tools some time in the future.

        A very exciting product!

A great product for the price.
The Asante card is a great addition to my Apple Powerbook Wall Street and my exsisting airport network. I was tired of being the only one in the house that was still plugged into the the wall. It connects to my airport station at home, the linksys hub at work and whatever they have at the local cafe for wireless access. The card is pretty tough and the removable antenna clips on, so its great for when you want to pack the laptop away and dont feel like taking the card out of the laptop. The built in utility even helps to locate the strongest signal and latches onto it and selects automatically selects the signal if you like even if your moving. The card does work with the Airport and Airport Extreme, although you will not be using Apples Airport software you will still connect to the Airport even if its setup as a private network.

Take a look at Asante's website for some pictures and information, but when you check the prices Amazon is much better and you cant refuse the free shipping!

Fantastic deal for a great product!
This is by far the least expensive PC Card SmartMedia adapter that I have ever seen. I bought this card so that I could easily read SmartMedia cards on my Powerbook G4 running Mac OS X 10.2.1. The SmartMedia cards are used with a Fuji FinePix 1400 digital camera.

When I received the card I removed it from the packaging, inserted it into the PC Card slot on my Powerbook, and then inserted the SmartMedia card into the slot on the PC Card. The card mounted quickly on my machine, and displayed with a PC Card icon.

Importing all of the images from the SmartMedia card was quick and flawless. No software drivers to install. Nothing to configure. It just works!

If you need to read SmartMedia cards on a Powerbook, this is in my opinion the best option considering both price and performance. It doesn't get any easier than this!

Normal telephone number rings a normal phone.
I have one of these operating on my home network and it allows a dialup phone number to ring a standard phone that you plug in. Both inbound and outbound calls work well. You do need to be able to forward a couple of ports from your internet visible IP with a normal SOHO style router. I happen to use i-connect as the service that provides my phone number but many others also support this device. You will need instructions from your service provider on how to configure the device. There is also a later version from Cisco which also has a switch built in. This would allow you to operate both a computer and telephone from a desk or hotel room with only a single ethernet connection. The sound quality is similar to compressed voice circuits. i.e. usable for business but not the clearest line you ever had.
