    Defective products, poor Quality
Shipped defective product twice. Extremely poor technical support. I needed a modem to plug in and forget. With Best Data modem, this became a major headache! I strongly recommend avoiding this product and the company. Would rather pay few $$ more and get what I want.

    Didn't Play with Win2K
I decided it was time to buy a 56K modem and thought that price wouldn't matter, so I bought the lowest priced modem. I installed the board no problem, but Win2K didn't recognize the card as a modem. I tried to update the driver with the software on the CD and with the latest driver downloaded from the web. Neither did the trick.

So, time to call tech support. Well, they provide a number for tech support that costs $[money] per call. So I decided not to pay tech support for a product that didn't install. I exchanged it for a Creative ModemBlaster V.92 for $[money] more. Win2K installed the drivers automatically. I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. So I'd recommend the ModemBlaster.

      I paid for this?
I paid for this and you shouldn't. The few times I could get online and actually stay there it was nice. Getting online, remaining online, and generally just dealing with this modem were major headaches. It's fragile (both modem and cable) and crankier than an old man with a colostomy bag and hemeroids. Actually that's the feeling you get when you own this modem. Mine came with my computer and now I'm using my husbands computer to go online and find a different modem. This one broke! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

      Don't even bother...
I currently own this modem, and I am looking for something much better. I have had problems with my computer actually seeing the modem, getting the correct drivers for it, and getting it to work. The cord that comes with it is very fragile, and any movement of the cord causes my internet connection to fail. Trust me, anyone can find something better.

        Avoid!!
The modem that arrived looked nothing like the one pictured (it was only half as long). When installed in any PCI slot on my(highly reliable) 8KHA+ motherboard (Via KT266 chipset) it prevented the computer from starting. Dead. Nothing. No boot sequence. The computer just sat there.

Pulled the Hawking out, replaced it with a Diamond SupraMax, and that modem immediately worked flawlessly.....

Uncompatiable with alot of systems also poor tech support.
We have recently purchased the PN592 Modem. I am very unsatisfied with this product. I call tech support and they could not reslove my problem. It is uncompatiable with processors with MMX technology.

          Software modems
The best modems for the money by far are the Intel chipset PCI hardware modems . They install very easily and will work 99.9% of the time. These are a no-brainer. I've installed close to 100 of these & there is NO comparison. Quit wasting your time with junk.

          Do not buy conexant
My recommendation is that you shouldn't buy any modem with the name Conexant. This was my fourth Conexant modem, and it was just like all the others. It turns out that all Conexant modems are software based, which means that they put most of their workload on the CPU. This results in frequent crashes, slow connections, and most commonly, frequent disconnects. I hope you take this advice and buy something more reliable, such as Best Data or US Robotics.

          plugged but won't play
although the box says works with Windows98, mine has a problem ... win98 can't recognize the driver in the installation CD which is also the latest version at the trendware website.
(note that maybe the product requires win98SE, but the package doesn't say so) I've posted a request for support at their message board and have not heard back within 24 hours. good price but isn't worth the aggravation so far. will update this if I get it working.

          What connectivity???
Device is crappy. Cannot pick up any signal unless hub is practically next to it. Even then, the signal strength and link quality are irratic at best. Customer support for the device is nearly useless. In summation, the equipment is just a a hair above a mere child's toy -- nonfunctional and breaks down at the slightest movement. A must-not buy!

          Dead at 19 months
I thought this modem was ok until it just stopped dead after about 18 months- could not even get the power light to come on.
          Will now try another brand.

          TELEPHONE SERVICE IS COSTLY
After working for a year, the synchronization failed at the end of the connection procedure. In order to get service, you must phone up and get a number to send it in. But they don't want you
to send it in. They charge you $8.00 for the call, and will refund it if they decide you shouls send it in. Well, first of
all , they give you a 801 phone number to Salt Lake City. I
thought this was toll free, like an 800 number. So
I just used regular service instaed of a 5 cents a minute service. My phone call ended up costing 9.60 for 28 minutes plus
the 8.00 USR charge. What did they do for me. They stepped me
through the procedure to add at dialup an external "key"
that I learned later through internet search that turns off the
V92 technology. Anyhow, after setting this key for the modem,
it was slow, slow. I ended up going back to my old 28-33K
US Robotics that i bought in 1996. Don't bother with US Robotics
Get a ZOOM 56K modem. After 3 1/2 years My ZOOM on my other computer is functioning well; although the spring on the switch
is tempermental. At least it will last 4 years - looks like. For those that made a mistake, the Setting is "&f1s32=96". This turns
off V92. DON'T BUY - Their warranty is a ripoff.

This modem fits only computers with an ISA slot although most newer computers have PCI slots, not ISA slots. Nowhere in the product description or technical details does it mention this fact.

              Deceptive advertising
This modem will not work in my PC. The requirements from CNET, listed below, were not made clear up front. I have a slower Pentium without MMX capability (required for this modem to work). Had these requirements been made clear in the initial listing, I'd have looked elsewhere. Many people still run old hardware. These requirements should have been included in the ad.

...Minimum PC Requirement - IBM Compatible PC equipped with Pentium 233MHZ or higher
              - PCI bus expansion slot
              - Microsoft Windows 95/98, ME, NT, 2000, XP
              - No Support for DOS or Win 3.1

              Bad Customer Support
I bought this and the product was defective. I tried returing it but the place that I bought it wouldn't take it back. The customer support for this product told me that on the phone that they could only answer my questions by email, and the tech support on email told me that they could only help by the phone. I'm still stuck with the product. dont buy it.

                I didn't find drivers for mac OS's
The description say "(PC/Mac)" but I did'n find anhywhere drivers for MAC OS's!
I wrote a e-mail to DR and they said:
"I have checked with everyone I can around here, no one has ever heard of a DRUSBmodem, in fact, DRT does not sell any modems."

                Bad product for MAC's
