Great Value
I bought this monitor a few days ago (because of the price). Having recently spent over a year unemployed and dreaming about an LCD monitor, this is like a dream come true. The color is bright and vivid, the case is stylish (and small, so that I can one day do dual-head without having a large gap), the viewing angle is good, and the response time is fine for watching DVDs (I saw no ghosting whatsoever). There's not a single dead pixel on it, and it's made programming a real pleasure.

The OSD (On Screen Display) controls could be a little better, but they weren't *hard* to use and you only really use them once when you plug the monitor in anyway.

I haven't tried the speakers out yet, but I already have a $50 set of speakers (w/ subwoofer) anyhow so I don't really see the point in in-monitor speakers.

This monitor is a great value, and it's logo is a water monitor (Varanus salvator). How could you go wrong?!?

A Great Choice
Like most LCD displays, this one offers excellent picture quality although the attached speakers leave something to be desired. Unlike some other Sceptre displays, this one seems to handle resolutions other than the native one (1280x1024) well, and in my opinion does so better than comparable 17" dell flat panels that I have used. Picture quality itself is great (although is not as good as an Apple Cinema Display), and it has a large viewing angle. The warrenty is one year from date of purchase if the registration is sent in (one year from date of manufacture if not), but my monitor has performed well and I have not had to contact their technical support. Taken with the price ($400), this monitor is definitely worth the money. Only limitation to note is that this monitor accepts only analog input (no DVI), but the analog input seems to perform very well.

Excellent product at a good price
This TV has a very clear bright picture, which makes the image appear larger than the modest 13" screen size. Perfect for a small space like an office or dorm room. The back is very well set up, and there is a nifty cable wire included which means you don't have to bend your cable into an awkward position just to hook it up.
The sound is much better than my Sony CRT 13" flat screen, and the software that allow you to change picture and image is very user friendly.
This is a perfect TV for small spaces!

SIMPLY AWESOME
Another winner from the Sharp company. The picture really is amazing and the remote control is very easy to use. I put the unit in the Kitchen and now find myself watching more television standing up than sitting in my living room BECASUE THE PICTURE IS THAT GOOD. I am going to purchase another one and put in my garage/work area. The price is well worth it. I am thinking of getting a larger screen size to replace my main t.v...I think Sharp is a winner and so will you if you decide to buy this unit.

Don't want to Wait? Get this!!!
Last Xmas, I decided to spend my bonus on something for me. I had been debating a TV for about a month or 2. My wife was having problems with spending this amount of mony on a single TV, but once she got in the store, she fell in love along with me.

The picture quality is great. I hate sitting close to the screen; but close or far away, it still looks great. The PIP is a great function: You can basically make each PIP screen any size you want, which is great for playing video games and watching TV. It is very easy to understand the remote. The only thing I have to add now is a surround system: I mean, I have a screen like the movies, it just needs to sound like the movies now!

    Goin' w/ Sony
Just purchased the t.v. a few days ago. Originally, I was looking for a 55-60", but quickly my mind became made up. The 65" Sony is sharp television from the inside out. The silver exterior has a contemporary look, able to shine in any home. I love the fact the screen has a protective cover, allowing me to wipe it down as often as I wish (clarity is key). The images projected in both the 4:3 and 16:9 are excellent. This television allows for 4 different color modes, 4 or 5 different zooms, has a phenominal audio system, and is loaded w/ jacks for connections with just about anything. Also impressive is the fact that you can watch this t.v. from 8-10 feet away, and still get great viewing out of it. For the money, this t.v. is definitely worth every penny. No glare, no bad angles, sound quality is excellent, and the picture is the best I've scene before the plasma t.v.'s. I love my Sony.

Don't bother looking for anything else but a Sony....
To sum it up, the Sony E210 is incredible! The colors are vivid, text is sharp and the flat screen is sensational. The picture quality seems to get better each and every time I use my computer. I had a Samsung 700NF before this but had to return it due to a defect. I thought the Samsung was sharp but this Sony blows it away! I did a lot of research before buying the Sony and originally was trying to find something comparable to the Sony without paying the premium price of a Sony. Trust me, the extra cost of a Sony is well worth it!! Follow the old saying, if the price seems too good to be true, then your probably going to get what you pay for. Buy this baby, you will not regret it!

The Best 17" Monitor [for the price] on the market
I have always loved Sony monitors, and this one is especially appealing. With a max resolution of 1600x1200, max refresh rates up 120Hz, a perfectly flat screen, and the typical, beautiful, trinitron display, this monitor is only rivalved by the Sony G200 17" in the price range. The On Screen Display has is very easy to use, and is very powerful. It comes with a color profile for Windows 98/2000 and can definately be setup and used in a print or video editing setup. I have used the Viewsonic, Hitatchi, and Princeton monitors in this price range, and there is no comparison at all. This monitor is sharper, has blacker blacks, whiter whites, and the color far more true. I highly recomend this product, and all Sony Monitors.

    Awesome monitor
I have had it for 6 months. It's the best monitor you could ever have. I've seen the other trinitron tube monitors. This is the clearest, brightest, and sharpest one around. And it's big. I have kept it at 1152-864 resolution and i can see every little font very clearly and comfortably. It does take some space but it's absolutelly worth it. I cant stand LCD-s. The image you get with the E500 is 10 times better than that of a LCD. and the price is cheaper.

    EXCELLENT!
I've had many many monitors over the years, everything from a 13" to this 21"... and I have to say that this is the sharpest of them all... excellent image quality! This is worth the cash!

Excellent Choice for the Discriminating Buyer
The quality of the picture on this TV is absolutely breathtaking. I was limited to a 32" screen and tried to budget carefully, but after personally viewing dozens of TVs none even came close to this Sony in quality of picture or sound. Other reviews have extensively commented on the technical aspects - from a "users" point of view, I liked the following things: The picture seems to "jump" off the screen with detail so fine that it is almost distracting at first - even non-HDTV programming is greatly enhanced. In a room where Surround Sound is not possible, the simulated Sound Enhancement provides a distinct 3D effect with rich tones from front-firing speakers. The most common picture and sound adjustments have "one-touch" buttons on the remote for easy access. One cool feature allows you to view two channels side-by-side or to freeze screens - great for sports viewers! Viewing DVD's is an incredible experience that has to be seen to be appreciated - ask for a demo in the store to prove it to yourself. The setup and adjustments are thru a small joystick on the remote that is simple and straightforward (although I agree that the remote is almost scary once you get past basic TV functions). The manual was easy to read. I would recommend the matching stand, which has glass doors, swivels, and is designed to support the 180 lb. TV. All in all, a great TV that has completely changed the way we view TV and worth every penny!!

    Outstanding picture, excellent value
One of the best things about DVDs is the great picture they are capable of displaying. To get the best picture, you need a really good TV. My 4-year-old Magnavox, which had been fine for VHS and cable viewing, was not adequate for DVDs, especially in widescreen. I found that the geometric distortions of a non-flat screen TV were starting to become very noticeable.

I started looking and after getting over the initial sticker shock, narrowed my choices down to a 32" flat screen, or 32" flat screen high-defition. I prefer the sharpness and brightness of direct-view, and stayed with the 4:3 aspect ratio, since most broadcasts are still full-screen and not widescreen. For DVDs, I figured a 32" TV would still give me lots of picture even with the letter-box black spaces on the top and bottom. Keep in mind that if you go with a widescreen TV, you'll have black spaces on the sides when you watch full-screen broadcasts. You can, of course, choose to have the 4:3 image fill the entire widescreen, but you are going to get some distortion.

    ...

It's very heavy (about 180 pounds) but that's true of any large flat-screen TV. You'll need a sturdy stand or entertainment center, and it's a good idea to have it all set before the TV is delivered. Also have your other components ready to plug into the TV's inputs on the back, so that you won't have to move the TV once it's been put into position. If you need to move it, you will need someone else to help you. Once it's down, it does not just slide around.

This TV has plenty of inputs, including two sets of HD/DVD inputs, so you will be able to input your DVD's video signal directly into the TV, and later, add an HDTV converter box as well. There's a set of inputs on the front, too, for video games or camcorders.

The picture quality is amazing, even for non-digital sources such as cable and VHS tapes. The video menu allows you to adjust the color settings, as well as edge enhancement. There are 4 pre-set video modes (vivid, standard, movies, pro), but you can change any or all of the settings for each of them.

For widescreen DVDs, Sony has an enhanced 16:9 mode. To use this, you must set your DVD player to display at 16:9 aspect ratio. When selected, this allows the TV to detect a widescreen video image, and adjust the set accordingly. What it does is to use all of the TV's horizontal lines to display the picture, whereas most TVs use some of those lines to draw the black spaces above and below the picture. This increases the clarity and resolution of widescreen pictures.

The sound is quite good, certainly more than adequate for casual viewing, but not as good as the sound you will get through a good A/V receiver.

The case is silver, not black, and the front of the case is a gently curving arc. This helps make the TV look less obtrusive; instead of a big hulking black plastic box, the overall impression is of a sleek, streamlined TV. The arc helps to hide the sides of the cabinet from view.

The remote is needlessly complicated, though the main buttons are easy to find and use. The on-screen menus are intuitive and easy to use. The manual is fairly well-written, but not as comprehensive as it should be.

    Sony 36"
This TV weighs a ton, took three adult males to pick it up off of the floor and load it into an entertainment armoire. I have owned several Sony TVs and really thought hard about this purchase because of firmware issues that I have had with a 27" Sony. Mainly compared this model with the corresponding Panasonic Tau, absolutely hated the Tau remote and am very familiar with the Sony. Note that the remote was not the deciding criteria, but it was a consideration. I have no real complaints about this TV, the menu system is nice and the picture very good. I do not normally use the built-in speakers so really can't comment about their sound. This TV has a 16:9 enhanced mode that must be selected from the menus, I tried it once using a DVD as source input and liked the widescreen format that the DVD player provides better than the 16:9 mode. The 27" Sony that I have has an auto-volume feature, this 36" does not and I do miss it. I would purchase this unit again. Note that there is a very similar Sony model that has upgraded sound, but not consider it because the added width would not fit in the armoire.

    Best Picture Award!
This flat screen 36" Sony TV gets our vote for the "Best Picture Award" out of all the TV'S we have looked at during the last month. We had a chance to compare with over a dozen other makes and models in the 32" and 36" class at our local Sears Store. These included several top name brands. All had the same feed and were tuned to the same channel. The 32" and 36" Sony Triniton's outshined by far all of the other competition in picture sharpness and clarity.! It's a very nice looking TV and the stereo sound quality is excellent also.
