Great HD monitor
Great Alternative to PlasmaRegular analog broadcasts, however, are inferior (which I believe is more a function of the larger screen size magnifying the imperfections of a non-HD signal).
Highly recommend obtaining HD cable service with this set. Locally, Comcast is offering HD service at $5/month. Plus they provide their own box with no charge for installation.

sharp 13 in lcd
You Won't Find Better 13" LCDThe white model worked best with our kitchen decor (other choices are silver and black).
The Aquos is incredibly well-designed. You can set it on a surface with the default stand, or mount it to hang under a cabinet with the included mounting kit.
Installation was a little tricky. I really wanted to hide all of the wires and TV cable up under the cabinet. The under-mount includes a stylish, color-coordinated box for this purpose, but getting all of the wires inside was a bit of a challenge. I ultimately made a trip to the hardware store for longer bolts as those included were about 1/2" shorter than needed for the thickness of our counters.
With this small hurdle cleared, I was able to under-mount the Aquos, and then really began to appreciate the design. Wires and cable are completely hidden. The TV cable and electric input flows down through the inside of the swing arm to the back of the TV. The rear of the the Aquos has inputs anything you could connect to a full-sized TV. A snap-on panel reveals the inputs and hides them once you've attached whatever wires you need to connect.
With setup done, sit back and enjoy the Aquos' crisp LCD picture and clear sound. The stylish Aquos is a joy to behold, and quickly becomes the centerpiece of your kitchen.
The Aquos is not just beautiful; it's a perfect marriage of form and function. The LCD rotates 180 degrees left to right, and the swing arm folds up to stash the unit under the cabinet, thus freeing up a little extra cabinet space. I never fold it up, however. It just looks so gorgeous hanging in its normal spot. A stylish remote is included.
Even customer service is great. I had an issue that I couldn't find in the manual (I accidentally reset the audio to receive the Spanish language translation on some channels). I left an e-mail with customer service, but didn't really expect much help. To my surprise I had an e-mail within two hours that solved the problem.
Bravo, Aquos!

Coastal marine navigation with the Garmin 12 MapGood: The GPS 12 Map is easy to use for marine navigation. It's waterproof. It has a non-slip rubber bottom. The size of the GPS and its display is just about right for use in small craft like a 30-ft sailboat. Button size and separation is good even for cold, wet hands. The overlay of the land maps proved quite helpful for generally locating the boat position with respect to nearby land masses like islands and continental coasts. I found the overlays more useful than the traditional "highway" views. Creating, entering, and modifying waypoints is easy. The wide choice of waypoints symbols proved quite useful. Battery life is adequate. Sailing only during the day, I changed batteries every 5 or 6 days with periodic connections to a 12VDC outlet on the boat's electrical panel. I could have used the external DC power exclusively if I had brought a 10 ft extension with me.
Bad: Believe the warning on startup. The land mass overlays are approximate. Even with care as to the correct datum, several anchorages in small coves were shown to be on land even at maximum zoom. The data included for positions of marine buoys and lights were not always correct. Some buoys were shown in incorrect locations or absent altogether. The US Waterways MapSource may fix this for US waters but will exclude the contiguous Canadian waters (Gulf Islands).
Conclusion: A good product for coastal navigation but the pre-loaded land mass and navigation data are not always accurate. I suspect loading ad hoc navigational databases would greatly improve the unit's usefulness.
Bang for your Buck!!I don't go anywhere without this unit.... it is awesome!

ViewSonic VE155 15" LCD monitor
Excellent Monitor and Great ValueAs an aside, stay away from 17" LCD monitors. Because they run at a higher resolution but they aren't significantly bigger, your text will appear smaller on a 17" LCD than on a 15". If you want bigger than 15", go with a Viewsonic 19".
CRT replacement! It has the same quality I expected from a LCD TFT monitor but with the refresh rate of a CRT. I play lots of first person shooter games and not once did I see any problems with refresh rates or quality.
It's ultra light, ultra compact, and very easy on the eyes.

- 1,280 x 1,024 maximum resolution at 65 Hz
- Fine 0.23 mm dot pitch
- 17-inch FST-Invar picture tube, 16-inch viewable image size

Great Price but Very Reflective Glass
A great monitor at a fabulous price!!The CD-ROM that comes with the Samsung SyncMaster 750s contains the necessary drivers you'll need to install & color management software called "Natural Color" which, supposedly (according to what I read), provides accurate & predictable color matching to give you the best image quality possible. My opinion? The software needs to be made a tad bit more user friendly. But after using it the first time, I've noticed that Quake 3 Team Arena looked a HELL of a lot better than it did using the monitor's default settings, and that overall image quality has also improved. So if you're up to it, go for it. You can always reset everything if you don't like the results. Overall, I'm amazed that I managed to get a technology-packed monitor like this at such a low price. I definately got my money's worth by purchasing this monitor.

Great TV with 1 flaw
It only takes one word to describe this television.......See, I told ya!
Seriously. this thing is incredible.
Expensive, but Superior QualityThe sharpness and contrast of your standard cable-fed programming is noticibly improved. However, if you have digital cable, you'll see an even more dramatic improvement. The picture is clean from any angle and glare is reduced compared to that of a non-flat tube. The sound quality is impressive and, while playing a game on PS2, I actually thought some of the ambient sounds I heard were coming from upstairs.
The remote control is large, but well thought-out, buttons are easy to push/find and it's backlit. The wireless headphones are a wonderful addition, and they're really well made and comfortable with fantastic sound quality.
There are plenty of input jacks for whatever you want to hook up to this baby, and there should be, as this is currently Sony's top-of-the-line 36" model (aside from HDTV).
However, before purchasing, make sure your stand or entertainment center can hold this set, because it weighs close to 300lbs! I had to purchase the stand Sony makes for this model (and the FS17) for an additional [money]. It looks okay, but is of IKEA-type quality.
This really is a remarkable television. One factor that will make the price easier to swallow is that this will most likely be the LAST 36" you'll ever buy. In a few years when HDTV is more affordable/available, then you can upgrade. But for now, this is it!

- 18-inch viewable screen size
- 0.25-millimeter dot pitch
- 1,600 x 1,280 maximum resolution

A great monitor -- and now a great deal, too. This is a great monitor if you want a screen larger than 17" and you are both a) short on desk space, and b) don't want to (or can't) shell out the cash for an LCD display. Although it lacks the perfectly flat screens of newer CRTs, the picture quality on the PS790 is still very good, and of course the significant size savings helps in a cramped environment (like a college dorm room, where I used mine for four years). Despite being 19" from corner to corner, this thing is about the same depth as a 17" monitor, or a cheap 15" model. It supports fairly high resolutions and refresh rates -- again, this is not a professional graphics monitor, but it's more than suitable for any home user.
I'm finally looking to replace my aging monitor (the brightness and contrast are both slowly fading after about 4-5 years of heavy use) -- and I seriously may replace it with another one of these. Or two, considering the price. One good 17" LCD (the same screen size) is about $500.
See it to believe it!!
Great monitor, excellent graphics, small desk spaceThe graphics are sharp, the text is clear, and the colors crisp. Some of the other reviewers had problems with the GS790, but I didn't. I suspect that when they purchased the monitor, they used regular ground shipping. I always pay extra for 2-3 delivery, as that implies special handling from UPS or Fedex. Having the greatest monitor but having it go thru conveyer belts during shipping may damage it, or shorten the life of a monitor.
I've used this monitor for 3D work, games, and business functions. And it has performed beautifully and I've never been happier. The only way I'll give this monitor up is when the 21" viewpanel drops down in price.

- Slim, 3.9-inch profile
- 1,280 x 1,024 true resolution
- 160-degree viewing angle
- Easy, trouble-free configuration and setup
- TCO '99 and Energy 2000 compliant

Fantastic!!!!
Once you go flat screen...I used to have a 21 incher regular box screen, but it took SO much space on my desk... The thing was about 18" wide and 16" deep, a true monster-of-a-monitor. Now with this pretty LCD, I have lots of space left over, and my eyes don't get tired as easily when playing games all day or writing emails to all my friends. If you love your eyes, get this screen. It looks so sleek and it performs. Once you go flat screen, you'll never go back to big bulky monitors again! I got the VE170mb. I LOVE IT! One tip: When I installed the monitor for the first time, it had a little dot on the bottom right corner of the screen. Like a loose contact of some sort. I rubbed the spot with my finger and it was fixed. If and when you buy, make sure you buy from someone with a good warranty. I bought from a trustworthy store and they would replace it for free. I hope the dot doesn't show up again!
What I expectedThe monitor does, however, take a little getting used to. It looks different depending on the viewing angle and it takes a little tweaking with resolutions etc. to get it right. I had to set my Windows display resolution to the highest (1280 x 1024) to get a crisp picture. Most other resolutions produced jagged or foggy text. The only drawback to such a high resolution is that the text is small on some web pages. This can be worked around by viewing the text in Outlook or Internet Explorer as "Larger" or "Largest" and using the "large fonts" setting in Windows. Overall, this monitor is a great value for the price. As long as you are not looking for extras like DVI, USB, or multiple VGA ports, this unit offers everything you need in a flat panel at a great price.
I looked at DLP TV from RCA - Thomson and it looked like a lower resolution display, even though they say they use the same device from TI as Samsung.
The minor things noted in other reviews;
1. not the best at standard broadcast TV. Yes, if your only watching this - and no HD or DVD - than save your money. Especially if you view from 12 ft. away or less.I have Directv HD with a Pansonic receiver and a progressive scan DVD player hooked up and use them to get widescreen and HD programs.
Play the new Digital Video Essentials DVD on this system to see how good a picture can get.
2. Minor issue with audio timing to the picture when watching cetain broadcasts using the built in analog tuner. Using the Mute button repeatedly brings this out on my set. This should be fixable with a software upgrade from Samsung - when they are ready.
3. horizontal viewing angle is great - just as they say. But the vertical viewing angle is about 90 degrees max.(45 up or down), like other rear projection TVs. Set the TV at seated eye level and you won't even notice this.
I would have been nice to get a digital TV tuner built-in. Since Directv and cable make you use their tuners for DTV, it's not worth waiting for this feature.
I have not yet used the DVI and PC interfaces. I like the split-screen display using the PIP ( two tuners) in the set. Even the PIP as a window is clear.
2.
