I bought this unit about two years ago and it has performed without any problems. Just recently I took it to the doctor's office to make sure it was still giving reliable readings. It is still giving accurate readings. Highly recommended.

Actually bought this item from another merchant, did not know that Amazon had it at the time. Have had my system for over one year now, liked it enough to buy a second one for added security. Very clear, crisp pictures on the cameras and have very wide angle.

My first review of this TV was a bit hasty. Not only did I not know what I was doing, I didn't know What I was talking about. NBC and CBS broadcast in 1080i and ABC in 720p. Fox has never been HDTV, with their resolution topping out at 480p. This TV works best when switched into Progressive mode (Wether on the Set Top Box or DVD player). I love it now, that I fixed the interleced problem.

I live in an apartment complex and the dish for my DBS is right between two buildings on the first floor firing over the building next door. With just a little Terk42 10db Omni directional attached to my dish I get all the local OTA HDTV broadcasts.

The HDTV 480p, upconverted 720p are great and the 1080i is fantastic.

This STB has some limitations but I can accept them, for what it does well, is fantasic.

I bought this monitor to replace a 19" CRT. I bought this particular monitor because of an April 3, 2003 review in PC Magazine on flat panel displays. This was viewed as what "should be your next display," ranked #1 among all of those reviewed. Somehow, in this very short couple of months, there is now a 171N and 172N (for more money). This 170N remains terrific. This was a good choice.

Regarding the CRT contrast: Powered by a Thinkpad 21, I could only get 8 bit color at 1200x1600 and only 16-bit color at 1280x1024. On this Samsung, I get 1280x1024 at 16bit. The screen is *very* bright, actually too bright at anything other than the lowest settings.

This monitor worth every penny. The color is natual and clear. Samsung has included a natural color software to adjust it so it will be compatible with your printer. The text is crisp and clean. Setup is fairly easy. Plug in the power and the analoug cable and you are ready to go. It is a kind of hard to adjust this monitor manually. Thanks to the auto adjust button, it will do the work for you. The monitor also comes with a three year limited warranty. The only problem with this monitor is that its manual is too simple. So, if you have any problem with setup, you are out of luck.

Overall, this is a very good monitor and I recommand it to everyone. It will be many years before I buy another monitor.

I bought this monitor to use exclusively as a flat panel TV in our bedroom. I was concerned that it wouldn't be bright enough at 250 nits (many "pure" flat panel TVs are 350 nits or higher). But I've been happily suprised that it is plenty bright and the picture (analog cable) is really, really great.

The only small complaint is that very fast action (like a football player running at full speed) will cause a bit of ghosting or blurring on the screen. It is not terrible but is noticeable.

Overall I'm very happy with this monitor.

I bought this 3 months ago, and until now, I compare my monitor with other monitors.
There were LCD monitors from hitachi, dell, ... at similar price range. (a few bucks difference.)
This one is brighter than anything else, and crip image is out of question. Well, the exactness of color is not as good as hitachi. The problem looks like it becomes to bright.
The brightness is so good that you can read text easily under the direct sunlight and you cannot even look at the monitor at the maximum bright in a dark room.
The countereffect is that at the maximum brightness, and contrast, light colors tend to be brighter than it should be.
(dell was not as bright as this, and colors had more severe problems)
Of course if you loose contrast and dimm the monitor, it is ok.
But in 99.9% of my monitor work, I do not need the original color. I prefer the comfort of my eye that comes from crisp bright monitor.
When I need to edit photos, I simply change settings of the monitor a little bit. (well, I did it just once in 3 months)

My conclusion. it is the best monitor you can get at the price.
If you have more money, buy bigger monitor. The quality difference is not at all noticible even if you spend $200 more.

Upgrading 19" from 17" LCD was real fun.
So I hope I can buy 21" from samsung very soon.
(if the price drops less than $600 )

I must say, I am pleasantly pleased. i plugged it right in and now have a bigger desk. This replaces my 19 Sony trinitron which bugged me with the line across. 2 in fact. This one is perfect. I turned the brightness down a bit since I work in a dim environment. It is easier on the eyes than the CRT. Graphics are good on this. sharp. SInce I just got it, I cant comment on reliability. I wonder if I should buy the 3 year performance warranty. Do pixels burn out on these displays easily? or should I just stay put and save my money?
