Best 17inch monitor ever

Inexpensive way to visual excellenceNormally what you are looking at, or rather through, is a piece of flat glass about 1/4" away from the main tube. If you are using this type of screen in a dark environment, you will get ghost effects from bright on dark graphics. That is, if you have a white bar and a black background, the white will reflect off the "flat" glass and back onto the display, giving you ghost images. This is extremely annoying since it has the unwelcome side effect of blurring black on white text and other visual objects.
The Samtron/Samsung 96B series has so far proven to beat the odds with a higher quality anti-reflective glass. There is some fuzz, but the text is sharp, clear and even.
The tube also provides near perfect alignment and naturally all of the geometry functions one would expect in a modern day CRT.
Give up the 15" LCD panel that you paid twice as much for, and believe me, the extra 3" viewable makes a world of difference.

One of the best monitors I've Used! The Sceptre D77D uses a Diamondtron NF tube, which is essentially the same thing as Trinitron but uses two finer lines instead of one thicker line. The viewing area is 16.1 inches, not bad and it's refresh rate depends on your resolution and other configurations that you have.
At $299, it may be higher than some Diamondtron and Trinitron tubes, but it's worth it because of it's quality alone! Sceptre is having a $50 off sale so it's $249, that makes it one of the cheapest monitors. Before I placed the monitor on my desk, I've noticed that there was no curve on the screen at all, although normal for Diamondtron monitors, I also noticed that it didn't really take up a lot of space which can come in handy. Text quality is sharp! Never a blur, even at high resolutions. I've changed GFX cards from a nVidia GeForce2 Ultra to an ATI Radeon and the text looked even sharper, and images were vibrant. The refresh rates aren't the highest, but the monitor excels with my Radeon at intensive 3D games. Everything was sharp and I can use the monitor for hours without my eyes watering and such.
Compared to other brands, Sceptre has one of the best warranties in the industry with five years. Their tech support team is very friendly and know what they are talking about. There was only one thing wrong with the monitor. When you change the settings, there are only pictures and no words. Not very annoying but that was about the only flaw I could find.
I've used Viewsonic, CTX, Futura, IBM, Dell, Iiyama, Samsung, and many other monitor brands and although they are really good, Sceptre pulls ahead with its superior text quality. The image quality was pretty much the same for 2D until you start playing a 3D game, then the Sceptre leads the race.
My advice, always go with Sceptre for its monitors. The D77D was fast and crisp with everything it displayed. I would emphasize that it is a very good price right now! There isn't really a lot of glare so you can use the monitor for long periods of time. The D77D delivers very good performance without making a dent in your budget.

Excellent monitor, weak speakersThe only reason I'd like to rate it 4 1/2 stars (if that was possible) is that the included speakers are marginal at best. I know almost none of the integrated speakers are good in LCD monitors - but this one is suitable only for simple Windows beeps and default sounds, nothing more.
So get it for the screen, but make sure you have some good speakers if you require decent sound.

I did not settle for this monitor or buy because I couldn't afford a Samsung/Dell. I just felt it was a great value to be had. Was caustious about the name brand but it turned out great.

Excellent little LCD TVImage quality is great but be aware that the viewing angles are not as good as the newer, 13- and 15-inch models'. I use the LC-10A3U mostly for cable TV viewing and as a DVD monitor with the audio/video/S-video inputs. The cable tuner is a useful feature but it's when I'm wathcing my DVDs that this TV really amazes me with very sharp, crystal-clear pictures. Mind you, the stereo sound (only available when in A/V mode) is a bit tinny but then again this is a small 10" TV with tiny speakers so what do you expect!
Build quality is excellent, with solid materials and great fit & finish (these TV's are made in Japan). All in all, this is great little TV and I highly recommend it.

Great TV!Benefits:
- Picture is tremendously clear and sharp
- Sound is great
- It looks very slick -- it is beautifully industrially designed. The attention to detail in design extends even to the rear of the unit, where they have cable covers and wire wrapping mounts, so it can stand on a table and look good from all sides.
- Enough connections for several devices to plug in.
Only complaint (which may not matter to you depending on whether you use headphones) is that the there's no way to leave the headphones plugged in and control whether the external speakers are on or off -- if the headphones are plugged in the external speakers go off. For bedroom use, this means that you can't just leave the headphones in and use the remote for sound on/off, and since the jack is covered in the back of the unit, its a little bit of work to plug and unplug it each time.
Other than that minor oversight, this unit is worth every penny.
