Why did I wait so long to get this LCD flat panel screen? The VG150 is clean and vivid. The 15 inch screens I just received replace two 17" CRT monitors. There doesn't seem to be much size difference between the incoming LCD screens at 15" and the outgoing CRTs that were 17".
At roughly $... per screen, these VG150mbs are a screaming bargain.
EDIT: After eight months, the monitors are still performing flawlessly. There is one dead pixel on one of the monitors and no dead pixels on the other. I am now in the market for yet another LCD flat panel monitor, and I will definitely be picking up another Viewsonic. Highly recommend. (Edited on August 21, 2003.)

Great monitorInstallation wasn't completely smooth, since I ran into the usual so-called "plug-and-play" problems. Despite years of experience with this sort of thing, I always find that reality never quite matches either the printed instructions (in this case, half a page from the large, multi-lingual manual) or the Windows98 screen instructions. This was slightly more annoying in the case of installing a monitor, since a monitor is REALLY important, to say the least!
Nevertheless, once I rebooted a few times and tinkered around with reported-to-be-missing files, eventually I got things working. From this point on, everything seems great.
The display is BRIGHT (perhaps even too bright -- I've taken to reducing the intensity using a setting in my video card driver) and, as advertised, viewable from quite a large range of angles. The unit is reasonably attractive, and seems more-or-less mechanically solid.
I installed the included "PerfectPortrait" software; this allows me to easily rotate the screen display 90 degrees to see full-page display. "Full screen" might not be quite the story if you take into account the screen real estate taken up by your application's menu bars, etc. With Microsoft Publisher, for example, I find that I need to zoom out to the 90% setting in order to actually see the entire page. By some stroke of luck, though, this 90% setting seems to render the page almost exactly to scale.
The display seems a bit less mechanically stable in the rotated configuration; sometimes it lands at something more like 88 degrees instead of 90. But it returns to the horizontal position quite accurately, so this is OK with me.
The built-in speakers are fine for general use. I compared them with somewhat larger stand-alone speakers that had come with my Sony Vaio 526, and I decided I could live with the built-in speakers.
Anyway, I've been up and running for about two days so far, and I'm quite happy with the VP150m.

Sinfully SeductiveI don't own a VPW500 but I can tell you that if it's in your price range, one look might be all it takes to get you to bite. I'm amazed by what TV designers have accomplished over the last few years. Based on what I've seen while shopping recently, the VPW500 would be one of my top choices if price were no object. But it's way out of my price range, unfortunately. The size, coupled with the brightness, contrast and color density add up to a very convincing watching experience. It gives the illusion of depth that you just don't come close to achieving out of a conventional TV and in the process, tends to pull you into the program. It's almost like information overload. Sitting 8' away, it still is plenty large enough to occupy nearly all of your visual attention. I think I'm in love.

The best HDTV for the best price.I bought the Sony KV27FV300 a few weeks before. If I have to compare the 2 products, I would said: (a) the sound on the Sony is better (100%) than the Zenith (70%); (b) the picture qlty on the Zenith is 100% and Sony (70%); (c) Feature with the user in mind: Sony (60%), Zenith (100%).
The Pro:
Analysis of point (c):
First Best feature : It's a HDTV for the price of a Sony regular TV!!!!
Second Best feature: The C27F28 can control the VCR to record the show I want it to record w/ a single button. I show a show I like, I click a button, and the TV turn on the VCR to record the show. Or even better, I can view the TV Guide and decide there is a show I want to record, I click a button ... and voila the TV is taking care of it!!!!
Third Best feature: I can plug a Computer on it and use it as a monitor with either 640*480, 800*600 or 1080i resolution, while the latest is not implement yet on the Video Graphic card of most computer ... for now!
Other best feature: Zenith's list surf channel is unlimited: I can program as many favorite channels as I wish to surf. (A surf list is a list of my favorite channel I want to see quickly without typing in the number of the channel myself. Example: my favorite channels are: 3, 5, 21, 32, etc.... So when I m in surf mode, by clicking 1 button I jump from channel 3 to 5 to 21 ... etc.).
The Flashback button is good both for PIP & the main screen, i.e. if I want to go the channel I watched before the one right now, I can do for both the PIP & the main screen. Wow!!!
The color setting on the PIP is difference than the main screen. I have the cable TV guide so that I can always get the info on the program I m watching.
The time on the TV can be self ajusted by the TV Cable cie, so I don't have to worry about Summer Saving time or not.
The Con:
(i) When changing channel, it takes several second for the screen to turn on.
(ii) The PIP screen does not accept HDTV, i.e., if I want to watch a HDTV show while looking at a show taped on a VCR, I cannot do that.
(iii) The sound, analysis of point (a) vs (b): According to me, the picture is more important than the sound, since I can always plug the TV on a better sound system. Like if u listen to a DVD, use the sound system from your DVD player.
(iv) The closed caption does not display well French accent (letter 'รจ' cannot be displayed)!!!!
(v) Possibly the Caller ID (yes, I can plug a tel line in and see who is calling me on the TV screen!!!) is not made for other country than the US.
My Conclusion: If Zenith can fixed all the con, I would declare this will be the perfect TV for me. It well worth the money even w/ the cons.
