Rad-9P hits the mark
I found this monitor to be of excellent construction and visually stunning. Tilts and swivels very well to adjust to most anyone's viewing, even mounts to the wall. Simple to setup and easy to use, I found this to be a great addition to my home office.

Excellent Monitor
I finally had the money and went out shopping for a 19" monitor. I'd thought I'd get a CRT what with prices in 2003 being so low, so I bought a NEC. Took it home, set it up, but the flicker was so bad I couldn't handle it. Used to have a 14" CRT, but the large screen amplified the problem.
Took it back, then looked at LCD panels. Comparing them all, I wanted one where white is really white. I'm writer, and all the other models except Samsung had a yellowish tinge and weren't very contrast-strong. The KDS stood out in the display comparison almost all on its own. The price was right and I bought it. Since then, year and a half later, I've had zero problems. Super monitor, no headaches, zero flicker whatsoever.
It's NOT a good gaming monitor, necessarily, so be sure to test it if you're into strong 3D live action games. But for production work, I'd never go back to a CRT regardless of how inexpensive they get.

Nice monitor - Great Price
Got it home, unpacked, plugged in, started the system and voila! instant recognition, no troubles, no hassles! Very crisp, clean image quality. OSD (On Screen Display) is fairly easy to use to make the few adjustments that were necessary.
For the cost, this is a great value, and if you can find one local, you can save the S&H! Sure, there's plenty of higher quality/higher priced models out there, but since the majority of system components are out-dated before you get them home, why bother? I imagine I'll be shopping for a 27"-32" monitor at this same price in a couple years, well ahead of the 3 year warranty it comes with. Hell, the monitor I just replaced (MAG 15") was bought the same month W95 was released!

KDS Model FX-9e
I just purchased this monitor after shopping for sometime. It is perfect for my use on my PC. It can't be beat for the price.

After exhaustive research ....
... I settled on the NEC Multisync FE2111SB for my monitor of choice. Why did I choose this particular monitor? I'm primarily a gamer and need the quick response times of a CRT over the up-and-coming LCD's. I own an NEC LCD1760V (on a second system) and its 16ms response time is excellent but it just does not have the same sheer color depth and "quicks" of a solid CRT (expecially projecting greys and deep blacks). Anyway, back to the review.

I had trouble finding what I thought were honest reviews of the monitor but ordered it via Amazon. It arrived some 8 days later and I eagerly sat it in place. I chose black to compliment my desktop setup. I am running a Radeon 9800XT to push the picture so consider that as I continue.

The first thing I noticed was how brilliant the bright the display was. Crisp, clear and a stunning image. Unfortunately, the flat panel glass (which covers the actual screen about 1/4" behind the mask had some specks of dirt upon it (small area just up and left of center). I dutifully attempted to wipe away the specks of dirt but to my horror realized the dirt was BEHIND the flat glass. I just paid for a new monitor, I expect the monitor to be essentially perfect. I was unimpressed.

The second (and final issue) came as I was tinkering with resolution setting. The standard rez I typically run my system on is 1280x960 which keeps things sharp, round and just the right size. A higher setting and things get out of ratio (circles become ovals) and text gets slightly blurry. So, as I began to adjust the image to fill the screen (tall and wide), the monitor could not stretch the image wide enough. At 100% wide, the image still had 1/4" to 1/2" black space on the left and right edge of the screen. Unacceptable. I tinkered with settings but nothing would correct this limitation.

Needless to say, with both issues being, well, an issue, I'm returning the monitor. I have not yet decided if I will repurchase the same monitor. So, the dirt was an aberation however, the resolution situation is a short-fall. Hope this helps, best of luck.

Great Flat Panel for the price
I'm using two FE2111's in a dual monitor setup for one of my graphics rigs. For the price of one 20" LCD display you can buy two of the best CRT's on the market. And this is one of the best CRT's I've ever used and I've used a lot of them. It has rich colors, sharp images (right up there with some of my best LCD displays), three brightness settings (normal, picture, movie), and a relatively easy to use OSD for tweaking the color balance to 'just right.' Although it's listed as a 21" monitor on Amazon, it is technically a 22" with a 20" flat viewing area. It's text quality is awesome at the native 1600x1200 resolution (and at any resolution that keeps the 4:3 ratio for that matter). The previous review mentioned that there was a problem with stretching to the border on 1280x960. I don't know what his problem was but both my monitors can fill the screen (with stretch to spare) at any 4:3 resolution. He might have been running an unsupported refresh rate. This is an awesome monitor for any use and at ~550 it's a great deal.

Couldn't be better
When i saw this monitor i didnt believe it was possible to put a flat screen on a regular monitor. It just blew my mind, I had to buy it instantly. When i got it home and started running my computer at 1024x760 it looked beautiful. Not to mention playing Quake2 in high resolution was beautiful. Being 17 inches with 16 inches is quite good, and i cant wait to watch DVD's on it, all that this monitor needs is to get rid of the two mounting lines you can see when the screen is white, there are these two lines horizontially across the screen that arent really noticable unless screen is white and your looking for them, the manual says they are "shadows from the damper wires used to stabalize the aperture grille". personally i dont care what the lines are, but all i know is if they were to fix the lines this monitor wouldnt have been affordable to me. So for a final rating i give it a Best Buy!.

NEC FE700M Does it ALL!
Performs as well as any high-end, high-priced monitor on the market. I've owned one for years and that's why I bought another one for my kids. Look's great on high resolution games. Great buy at under $(...).

Great monitor, but beware
This an outstanding monitor,(...). But a monitor is only as good as the hardware and software that drives it. On this count, NEC has not, in my opinion, done a great job. (But neither has anyone else.)

There are three (plus) components that will affect performance:
(1) The monitor itself. Put two "identical" displays on identical systems side by side and you will get different results.
(2) The display card and its drivers. This is a huge gray area. A lousy card will make a great monitor look bad.
(3) The computer itself. The basic control over image display resides in the operating system and hardware.

I have been using this monitor for several months on a Mac G4 Dual 800 with the nVidia GeForce Twinview display card. When I get good results, the FP1350x is one of the best displays I have ever seen. But I have seen intermittent problems. As with most problems in the computer industry, everybody blames everybody else, so it is very difficult to pin down the cause of any problem.

Closing thought: monitors of this size are designed to run at the higher resolutions, so if you can't get readable text, good color, etc., at 1600 x 1200 or higher, the monitor is effectively useless.

Other monitors to consider in this price range: Philips Brilliance 201B and 201P; Sony CPD-G500 and G520.

You'll never go back to those puny CRTs.
The FP 1350x is truly a high-performance CRT. The Flat CRT reduces glare tremendously, and the Ambix technology digital imput protects the initial investment in the monitor. Warning: You will get spoiled using a monitor with so much screen size...you'll have a hard time going back to anything smaller. 5 Stars all the way!!!

    Nervous purchase turned out great!!
I looked extensively for a projection television. By extensively, I mean for over a year! This was a major purchase for my family and I didn't want to make the wrong choice. I learned a lot things. The biggest thing that I have learned is do not listen to salesmen. They all seem to push certain brands depending upon what day you enter the store. Panasonic was literally put down my most salesmen. Mitsubishi and Sony are pushed pretty hard. I have had excellent luck with RCA, but they talked RCA down. I decided I was on my own. This particular TV had two things that I was looking for. First of all I didn't want the cloth speaker covers. These will look terrible after 6 months with a dog and two kids. Second, I wanted built in storage space. The picture quality is excellent as well. The only complaint I have (and this may be the case with any rear projection television) is that on fades in and out where the screen is black... you tend to see a small line rolling up the screen. But that's only when the screen is pitch black and that is rare. I also purchased the Panasonic SCHT900 700W 5-Disc DVD Home Theater System to go along with this television. Both are excellent and I couldn't be happier. Keep in mind I've only had these 2 weeks so I will update if there is a problem. Toshiba, Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Sony are good televisions, but don't let them scare you away from Pansonic or RCA. I've been using them for years problem free!

    Excellent buy in projection TV
I purchased this set after doing extensive research,I have not been disapointed with any of its features. The sound quality is incredible and it blew me away with the first movie I watched on it. Picture quality is great and only gets better with DVD's. Set up is very easy and controls are user friendly. This set has hard covers over the speakers and most other sets have cheap fabric that tears easy.I would definetly recommend this set for a first purchase, you will not be disappointed.

      Good basic LCD
I bought this as a demo, so felt pretty good about the price to start. However, I was more than pleased with myself as I realized that the monitor features a portrait mode capabilty and free software to make it work. Web browsing in Portrait, and doing word processing, it nicer than other monitors. I get the sense that this is a very decent monitor, but not the tops because it lacks a DVI connector and the brightness is a little on the low side.

      Great picture
I bought the Philips 150b2e. I think the e is for the ergonomic base. The picture is fantastic. Isn't that what you want from a monitor? It's bright and clear and takes up little space. My old 17 inch crt monotor didn't really fit on the desk. But this one looks great.

I'm not sure how it handles video -- some crt monitors aren't fast enough to do video well -- because I haven't tried much of that yet. But it's written specs are fast enough for video and the picture for normal use is clear, sharp, bright.

Great monitor. Much improvement over a regular 15" monitor
Although the dot pitch is not as good as a typical monitor, the space that is saved is worth it. Just owning and using it makes you feel cool.

Althought the dot pitch isn't that good. New Operating system programs do have capabilities to make it look better with typed characters.

The viewing Angle of it is great. Unlike some TFT screens in Laptops, you don't have to be in the perfect position to see the screen perfectly.

Very nice design and well manufactored.

Philips is a very reputable Brand and you can never go wrong with a product manufactored by them.

      Great LCD
I bought this LCD because it is ultra thin and light. The small stand fits nicely into my study desk, saving me a large space for writing and reading. The picture is surprisingly very sharp and the color vivid at such a bargain price. I am very happy with it.
