Rad-9P hits the mark
Excellent MonitorTook it back, then looked at LCD panels. Comparing them all, I wanted one where white is really white. I'm writer, and all the other models except Samsung had a yellowish tinge and weren't very contrast-strong. The KDS stood out in the display comparison almost all on its own. The price was right and I bought it. Since then, year and a half later, I've had zero problems. Super monitor, no headaches, zero flicker whatsoever.
It's NOT a good gaming monitor, necessarily, so be sure to test it if you're into strong 3D live action games. But for production work, I'd never go back to a CRT regardless of how inexpensive they get.

Nice monitor - Great PriceFor the cost, this is a great value, and if you can find one local, you can save the S&H! Sure, there's plenty of higher quality/higher priced models out there, but since the majority of system components are out-dated before you get them home, why bother? I imagine I'll be shopping for a 27"-32" monitor at this same price in a couple years, well ahead of the 3 year warranty it comes with. Hell, the monitor I just replaced (MAG 15") was bought the same month W95 was released!

After exhaustive research ....I had trouble finding what I thought were honest reviews of the monitor but ordered it via Amazon. It arrived some 8 days later and I eagerly sat it in place. I chose black to compliment my desktop setup. I am running a Radeon 9800XT to push the picture so consider that as I continue.
The first thing I noticed was how brilliant the bright the display was. Crisp, clear and a stunning image. Unfortunately, the flat panel glass (which covers the actual screen about 1/4" behind the mask had some specks of dirt upon it (small area just up and left of center). I dutifully attempted to wipe away the specks of dirt but to my horror realized the dirt was BEHIND the flat glass. I just paid for a new monitor, I expect the monitor to be essentially perfect. I was unimpressed.
The second (and final issue) came as I was tinkering with resolution setting. The standard rez I typically run my system on is 1280x960 which keeps things sharp, round and just the right size. A higher setting and things get out of ratio (circles become ovals) and text gets slightly blurry. So, as I began to adjust the image to fill the screen (tall and wide), the monitor could not stretch the image wide enough. At 100% wide, the image still had 1/4" to 1/2" black space on the left and right edge of the screen. Unacceptable. I tinkered with settings but nothing would correct this limitation.
Needless to say, with both issues being, well, an issue, I'm returning the monitor. I have not yet decided if I will repurchase the same monitor. So, the dirt was an aberation however, the resolution situation is a short-fall. Hope this helps, best of luck.

Great monitor, but bewareThere are three (plus) components that will affect performance:
(1) The monitor itself. Put two "identical" displays on identical systems side by side and you will get different results.
(2) The display card and its drivers. This is a huge gray area. A lousy card will make a great monitor look bad.
(3) The computer itself. The basic control over image display resides in the operating system and hardware.
I have been using this monitor for several months on a Mac G4 Dual 800 with the nVidia GeForce Twinview display card. When I get good results, the FP1350x is one of the best displays I have ever seen. But I have seen intermittent problems. As with most problems in the computer industry, everybody blames everybody else, so it is very difficult to pin down the cause of any problem.
Closing thought: monitors of this size are designed to run at the higher resolutions, so if you can't get readable text, good color, etc., at 1600 x 1200 or higher, the monitor is effectively useless.
Other monitors to consider in this price range: Philips Brilliance 201B and 201P; Sony CPD-G500 and G520.
You'll never go back to those puny CRTs.

Nervous purchase turned out great!!

Good basic LCD
Great pictureI'm not sure how it handles video -- some crt monitors aren't fast enough to do video well -- because I haven't tried much of that yet. But it's written specs are fast enough for video and the picture for normal use is clear, sharp, bright.

- Ultraflat screen, compact design
- Convenient onscreen controls
- Low energy consumption

Great monitor. Much improvement over a regular 15" monitorAlthought the dot pitch isn't that good. New Operating system programs do have capabilities to make it look better with typed characters.
The viewing Angle of it is great. Unlike some TFT screens in Laptops, you don't have to be in the perfect position to see the screen perfectly.
Very nice design and well manufactored.
Philips is a very reputable Brand and you can never go wrong with a product manufactored by them.
