It is a pretty flat monitor. Not a bad choice. As for this Samsung it used a Mitsubishi NF tube. In the 19inch flat monitor market this can be compared to the Sony trinitron tubes. Mitsubishi tubes have a less prominent damper wires (two wires that go horizontally across the screen that are visible) but Sony trinitron tubes have more flashy colors. In other words this monitor has is less colorful but could be less a distraction. But as I said each monitor is different. It's like a car, you can get a dud from the factory or you might get one that works fine. Over here in Korea they sell this monitor starting from 500$. US residents are lucky since there is so much competion prices have to be low unlike here where Korean companies have a virtual monopoly. It isn't worth 500$ but at low price it should be given some consideration.
Other monitors in the 19inch flat market that are similar are Sony G400, LG 195FT, and a few others. Samsung DF 19 inch flats are not really flat so they are inferior to Samsung NF's. But NF's may not be as focused clearly as DF's at high resolutions. It is best for the consumer to actually "see" the monitors before purchase.

Beautiful Display Great MonitorNo dead pixels, beautiful picture at 1280X1024.
Brillant brightness. This is a great monitor at a good price
Only complaint is lack of rotating screen and no height adjustment. The previous 19 in Samsung had these features of course it was more expensive.
Overall a great monitor

The LCD for the MinimalistThe words "less is more" couldn't ring truer for this monitor. The very thin frame makes the picture look larger, and as an added bonus, the power supply is built in (no brick) with the signal and power cords neatly stowing away through the hole in the stand. Very low profile, you will be able to use your desk again.
Picture quality is good, and make sure to turn on your "ClearType" in Windows XP. There is very little "ghosting" effect on the screen, and I am able to play games effectively. The only bad part is that the swivel is rigid and a bit hard to adjust, unlike the display on the new table lamp iMacs.
The bottom line is, once you go flat, you won't go back.
The best flat panel I've used!!! Flawless!

absolutely fabulous style; not the best priceMy unit has one pixel that is stuck on. This is common with LCD panels, and is only noticeable with very dark images.
You pay a price for style, however. Sony prices this model higher than most other LCD panels. ... :)
A great LCD monitor, but kind of pricey!Just say to them that the Sony monitor is able to be placed in a very tight, small desktop area, where space is extremely limited.
Also, this monitor comes built with stereo speakers to hook up to your sound board. Has bass boost, stereo wide settings, etc.
Would I highly recommend this to you, yes, if your needs are like mine where your desktop space is extremely limited and you want an LCD type of monitor!

Great 19" Monitor
Has Been Working Great for 4 years~Some things to nit-pick about would be that it's not flat-panel and it's very heavy. It's a 19" so can't complain.
No regrets at all. If you want to save money, and want a reliable 19", get it!

Very pleasedOnly flaws of this monitor are 1)The name 'Perfectflat' is somewhat of a misnomer. The screen is not perfectly flat, though it is VERY close. 2) The power button requires a bit more push than most (due to the depth of its travel)- a minor gripe, and one that the user will get used to.
Another good thing though, is that the E90 has a nice flat top. -A good place to stick small notebooks and whatever else (that's important if you've ever had the misfortune of dealing with a rounded top monitor)
Overall it's a great monitor. Can't say much about it's lifespan, I've only had it a few days, but Viewsonic typically has three year warranties on their products, so I'm not all that worried. If your looking for a high quality, economical 19"er, this is it. Just make sure you got enough deskspace for it.
Great Monitor
I did go down to a local electronics store and do a comparision of this set against the leading brands (under HD signal), and i must say it was just as good or even better than some of those 5K+ TV's out there.
Its works great when hooked up to my pc, I did have to go out and get a decent video card with a DVI out. The picture quality is simply great.
Bottom Line: Buy it! But just be prepared to be patient until more 'n more programs get broadcast in HD.
