High resolution = blurry text. Convergence & Geometry issues
This so-so monitor is over-rated by consumer.
The price is CHEAP compared to the other 22" (even with other NEC 22"s)
Problem is very obvious, geometry and convergence at any resolution.
Move to higher res. and text will become blurry.
Very good for playing games (low resolution like 800x600 or 1024x768). Not recommended if you want to use higher than 1280x1024 res for regular use (Internet, word, etc.)
In other words, this would make a good monitor for my parents.

Great Monitor
Superb monitor.

Great picture. Great colors. Great refresh rate.

ONly possible inus is that it takes up alot of room so some might not love it as much as I do but the display on this monitor is flawless. One day MAYBE flat panels will be able to offer the kind of resolution that this monitor does but not anytime in the near future.... I would absolutely recommend this monitor.

I don't think that anyone who buys one will regret it in the least...

great for gaming
great monitor...and good value. for gaming you can not go wrong, NEC/Mitsubishi have come out with a great product.

Flickers Incessantly, Viewsonic Support Has Not Responded
I bought this monitor because of all the excellent reviews it
got, because of Viewsonic's service reputation, past satisfaction with Viewsonic products, and because it looked good in a store. However, on my machine (a Dual Athlon with a Radeon 9700 card) it flickers incessantly, making it useless. Viewsonic has not responded with assistance or a warrantly replacement despite my submitting 3 requests with them.

When it works, it looks nice for the price, but since it is
unviewable about 50% of the time (the flicker sets in after 2-6 hours of uptime), that's not so great. I'd like to have given
it a good review, but it's hosed, and Viewsonic's support has
gotten very unresponsive since I last had a problem with one of
their monitors. I am reconsidering whether or not to purchase
any of their monitors in the future based on this experience.

Had it for a While
Best investment on my computer - I spend a lot of time reading on the computer, and this has made my eyes relax.

My parents have the VX900 19" LCD, but I highly prfer this one. More widescreen so movies look better. I have the DVI connection going, and while playing UT 2003 I had ZERO ghosting problems.

Great monitor, great company, nothing more to be said!

Wow, this flat panel is great
I had to replace my 17" crt, so I started shopping for a flat panel. I decided on the vg191, and don't have any regrets. It's only a few days old now, but so far I love it. Nice big picture, no dead pixels, very bright and vivid. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a big flat panel that will not break the bank buying it.

Great display, but a few things to be careful of
Firstly, the image is beautiful. It's brighter than many LCDs. It's much more responsive -- no ghosting when you drag windows around, fast enough to play games on without smearing the way many LCDs do. The DVI-D display is rock solid when it's working. The analog VGA input is slightly substandard, however it's nice if you have a second system and would like to use the monitor buttons to switch between the VGA and DVI-D sources without a KVM. The built in speakers are pretty weak, but they're plenty for business use. The portrait display orientation feature is cute, but the rotation is all done in software you isntall on your PC, not in hardware. This means that display rotation comes at a signficant cost to performance, and video overlays simply don't work, or end up offset from the blue "genlocking" area much of the time. You simply won't enjoy watching DVDs or playing games with the display rotated. There's also a big bad side to the VP201M and VP201MB that you can't ignore: They have serious compatibility problems with many, many video cards. The VP201 monitors were produced before the 1600x1200 DVI-D display standard was ratified. And while some cards (most notably, Geforce 4 Tis, Geforce 3, some ATIs) have a compatibility mode for early release monitors like the VP201 series, many other cards (Geforce 3MX, 4MX, ATI 7500, some Mac Powerbook models) do not. You'll get green noise all over the display, or strange grey distortions. Do yourself a favor and write a note to Viewsonic support before buying. They won't give a full list of compatible cards, but they will generally tell you whether a given card works in 1600x1200 DVI-D mode or not. Keep future upgrades in mind as well. Viewsonic doesn't track the newest cards, and if you're like me, you may find yourself trying four new upgrades before finding one that works. This would be a five star monitor if it didn't restrict your ability to upgrade to new graphic cards without worry.

An outstanding monitor
I too use this monitor at work, where I often spend long hours staring at the screen. It is the biggest, clearest, brightest and easiest on the eyes of any monitor I have used professionally or personally. I have no complaints about it whatsoever, except that it is just too expensive for me to justify buying one for my home computer. Of all the LCD monitors I have seen, used or played around with, this one has the best base with the most logical, sturdy and free-moving mechanism for making adjustements to angle, height and portrait vs. landscape view. It is actually difficult to acclimate to using another screen after using this one for any period of time, because this monitor improves the interface experience so much.

I love this monitor
I read the other review that gave it three stars. I have not noticed any problems with the antiglare coating or picture at all. To my untrained eye, the picture is perfect. The best I've seen. Then again, this is my first LCD screen. The other person should consider returning theirs. Perhaps they got a faulty one.

As for the graphics card compatability problem, I imagine thats due to its landscape/portrait feature. Without installing the PerfectPortrait(R) Display Pivot Software that allows the Monitor to be used in portrait mode, I'm sure that this monitor would be just as compatible as any other monitor with video cards. I usee it with a GeForce4 Ti4200 myself.

I used this monitor at work where I can spend as much as 10 hours in front of it. It is easy on the eyes and has a nice sharp picture. The portrait mode is great when it comes to word processing or web surfing.

The only problems I have encountered are with the PerfectPortrait software. If I shut down Windows XP while in portrait mode, I get the blue screen of death when I boot up. I also get the BSoD when I use a 3d accelerated screen saver in portrait mode. However, Considering that most software is not written with changing screen dimentions in mind, I have no complaints.

I have used this monitor for 7 mounths and I highly recommend it.

Decent monitor, if you can see it.
If you want to use this monitor at something other than 1280x1024, you'll be disappointed. At 1280x1024, the images are too small to view comfortably.

Cornea Systems MP704 17in LCD monitor, black
I have just purchased the Cornea Systems monitor in the black version. Installation was easy and I really liked the design as well as the picture clarity. I am a serious gamer and was concerned with whether or not this monitor could keep up with my system. There has been no evidence of ghosting although I highly recommend adjusting the brightness control down to about 70 percent. I changed the refresh rate to 75mhz and was quite pleased with the monitor's performance. Controls are easy to use. I am very pleased especially with the comparatively low price. Good value.

I can recommend this one
I have been using my MP704 LCD monitor from Cornea Systems for two months now and it has performed flawlessly. The buying experience was perfect. From the time of placing the order, the monitor left the warehouse in Chicago the next day, and two days later it was on my desk. This contrasts with another product I bought through Amazon when the company involved did not ship until five days after the order.
The setup was completely plug and play. The contrast is good for for my normal use purposes, and although I fiddled with the controls just out of habit, I ended up returning to the automatic settings. And, by the way, there are also no missing pixels.
I would recommend this one to my grandmother.

Forget it if you have a Sony
I have a new 19" flat screen monitor from Sony, who makes them with feet instead of a pedestal. This Fellowes stand may be able to take the weight of a 21" monitor, but it can't take the width, if the monitor is a newer style like mine. My monitor's feet are 15" apart; the stand is 13" wide. (Note: the box Fellowes sells it in is 18" wide and doesn't have the stand's measurements on it)

It's a godsend for tall people
After a hideously long wait ... I finally had a chance to use this with my Sony 200 PS monitor, and it works great- I don't have to slouch and the area underneath lets me stash USB hubs, reference manuals, and other goodies. After one day, my backaches are starting to fade already.

One word of warning- this just barely fits underneath a 17" monitor with a traditional pedestal. I wouldn't try using it with anything larger or anything with an unusual pedestal, like an LCD or an Apple CRT.

I Finally Stopped Slouching
Prior to purchasing this, I'd spend quite a bit of time looking down into my computer monitor. Needless to say, I was slouching for hours at a time and suffering from neck and shoulder pain. I finally found the solution by ordering this monitor riser.

Although it arrives unassembled, it was extremely easy to put together, even without looking at the directions. I'm impressed with the durability and design. Most of all, I'm grateful for what it's done for my posture.

Highly recommended!

Hitachi 36UDX10SA 36" HDTV TV

    Don't buy Hitachi Products
We purchased a Hitachi 50" t.v. from Circuit City and we've had nothing but problems with it. We purchase the 5 yr. extended warranty and on a 5 year old t.v. it's been in the repair shop every year since the 2nd year of ownership this time it's been in for the last 2+ months with no delivery in sight and no satisfaction in sight, nor can we be promised that the problems will be solved on this repair trip. Hitachi will do nothing past 1 year and the warranty people could care less. The Hitachi name no longer holds the credibility it did of years ago. BUYER BEWARE! Best to look into another brand and even an other store to check out their fine print warranties before spending hard earned money.

    Totally Awesome TV
I went to the store to look around and compare TVs. I thought I was going to purchase a Sony, but when I saw this Hitachi 36UDX10SA 36" TV, I couldn't keep my eyes off it. As I continued to roam the store I always ended up back at the Hitachi. I purchased the last one, took it home and my wife totally loves it!! I thought there was a problem with regular cable shows (non-digital) but I found a setting in the TV that clears the picture and sound. I love this TV. I HIGHLY recommend this TV set.

    I love this TV!
I purchased my set last year and I have to say it has the best picture of all the TV's in this price range - It was recently stolen and I am in the process of replacing it with the exact same model - I love it that much!

Okay for a 21" flat screen
After you've been using a lesser monitor, any 21" flat screen is heaven. That's how I felt when I first bought the KDS AV-21TF. It was so much better than my old curved-screen Iiyama 21" monitor.

A nice thing about the KDS monitor is that it can easily manage a resolution of 1600x1200 at a flicker-free 85 Hz. It also has a very comprehensive set of on-screen controls for fine-tuning the image, including good adjustments for color in the corners. (I strongly recommend spending the time to adjust a new monitor - you can always get a significantly better image.)

But after seeing this monitor next to some others (the Dell Trinitron P991 19" flat screen, and the NEC FP1370 22" flat screen), the image on the KDS monitor seems dull and grayish in comparison). On my dual-monitor system, I tend to drag documents from the KDS to the NEC when I do a lot of reading.

The worst point is the control buttons. I've worked with a lot of monitors, and I've never seen such a counter-intuitive button design. It's very frustrating to spend 20 minutes getting the monitor settings just right, only to accidentally press the monitor's reset button and lose all of your work.

    LOW price -- BIG thing
    It's COOL
In corners have little problems ,but you can fix from OSD-color landing
Thank for great sony flat tube

    Very nice monitor
I just hooked up this monitor and love it. It is trully flat and has improved my computing experience significantly because of the sheer size of the monitor. I had to pull my desk out from the wall a little because 21" monitors are so large, but I find I can comfortably sit much further away from the monitor as well. Even from a distance, text and graphics are easy to see. After a minute or so, I masterd the controls on the front of the monitor and quckly fine tuned the display. Now I experience rich colors, great contrast and crisp lettering. I run dual monitors and find that it is capable of much richer and finer displays then my 19" Dell running along side it. There are better out there I'm sure, but if you get a good deal on this monitor you won't be sorry.

    Great... A few years ago
I bought this GPS a few years ago. As I work in the Army and my unit never fitted me with a military GPS, I decided to get one of my own. I was amazed then. It helped me out alot when trying to figure out my position. It's usefulness is limited in forests and in blizzards, which often is when you need the most. It was of course useless inside armored vehicles, but that's more than one can expect unless one has an external antenna.

The GPS can usualy track your position within two or three minutes, which is pretty fast. However, if you keep it turned on, it will drain your four AA batteries pretty quick.

I have always had the philosophy that one should NEVER solely trust a GPS. One should merely use it as a backup for a map and a compass. For this use, the Garmin GPS-12XL is just as good as you'll ever need it to be. However, the extra functions are rather primitive and probably most suited for fishers to mark their good spots.

Having said all this, I must add that GARMIN has come out with several newer, better, more advanced and even cheaper GPS's. I recommend buying one of those instead. Think carefully and decide wisely.

    Excellent, but expensive
I love this product! I used it in the High Arctic as a backup navigation tool while working as a mining exploration surveyor. Like all battery-powered equipment, the low-end temperature limitation is due to the batteries (4 alkaline AA's). It's portable, solidly made, not too heavy, and most importantly it tracks 12 satellites simultaneously to get a fast position fix. This also makes it somewhat more useful than the average GPS in light tree cover since it is more likely that the unit will be able to get enough info for a position fix (GPS usefulness is marginal in the trees).

The keyboard, windows, and text entry are intuitive, fast to learn, and easy to read: comparable in difficulty to programming phone numbers into a cell phone. The backlit screen is useful at night. The unit appears to be internally well sealed against moisture, although the batteries are not fully isolated from the environment. This probably doesn't matter if you don't actually immerse it in salt water. Battery life is good. The unit is thicker than the pictures here make it look (check the dimensions), but this is not a problem: it fits easily into a pants pocket such as a pair of Dockers.

The unit and its case are black in color, so I advise attaching a piece of surveyor's flagging tape to either the case or the split ring at its base, or taping on reflective tape to the unit or sewing it to the case, **so you don't lose it like I did**. Reflective tape is available at bicycling stores.

I bought this exact same unit in 1997 for [the same price] and am very surprised that it hasn't either changed or come down in price more than it has. That said, I'd buy it again after looking at the competition to check for value. Make sure that the competitive unit tracks 12 satellites *simultaneously*.

    Just what I was after
The Garmin GPS 12XL is exactly what I was looking for. I was not after a GPS unit that had stored maps, as in New Zealand there isn't that much mapping information available - hence I didn't go for the mapping GPS products.

It is a sturdy, compact, and portable unit, only slightly larger than my cell phone (Nokia 6120). It fits easily and comfortably in my pocket.

Battery life so far has been very good.

It is very simple to use, and easy to navigiate once you become familiar with the interface and functions. You can easily operate it with only one hand. The displays are very functional and quite flexible in the information they display.

Whilst it can be a bit of a pain modifing waypoints manually, doing on the computer and then uploading them will save you much time. Download some free software, get the car adapter/pc serial combo cable and you'll be sweet. My first data transfers were trouble-free and easy to do. It works well in the car off the power as well.

I also purchased the car antenna, and this generally provides accuracy down to +/- 4-5 metres which is about the limit due to atmospheric error. If you are going to use the 12XL in your car - get the antenna.

I showed it to a friend recently and he went snap - he had just purchased two units the same for a Search and Rescue team.

I look forward to a good relationship with my 12XL :)

No temperature alarms, no probe, no light
I much prefer the EW-2 from Speedtech, as it offers a great backlight (when a button is pressed), temperature alarms (I use a sensor in my freezer and the alarm goes off when it gets too warm, saved my goods three tmies!!), and the included sensor has a detachable probe.

No tech support from La Crosse
I liked this product the moment from I received it except that the remote sensor was not working. I tried to reinstalled it once or twice more based on the instruction but it still gave me no reading. I wrote an email to La Crosse Technical Suppor(suppor@lacrossetechnology.com) for help. But I had lost my confidence in this company after 10 days of waiting. :(

The FIRST Perfect Gift For Dad
I have tried every year to get my dad something he would use and actually like. This is the first item that he has raved over. Everytime we visit, he has another added compliment for it. He checks it every morning before getting ready for work and every night before going to bed. He also likes the humidity feature that tells you if it is too dry in your home.

Because of all the good remarks my father has for it, my husband wants one now too!!! I'm sure we will be getting one soon for our own home.

UPDATE: We purchased one for ourself and it stil works wonderfully... we've even added the wireless rain gauge to our collection.
