Expensive Cable that when all was said and done Failed
I purchased this cable for my 17" flat screen monitor so that I could have a couple of extra feet to move my monitor further from the computer. Almost all monitor cables come in 6 foot lengths. At first, it worked just great. But after about 5 months of use, my monitor was very streaky, with lines extending across the screen from side to side. The problem was with the cable, and now I am out [money] with nothing to show for it. My monitor is cramped back on the side of my desk now too.

    Worth the extra cost.
I was looking for a monitor cable to use with my new Avocent KVM switch and hoped that a more expensive cable would offer better signal quality. I bought this Belkin cable and a 6 ft Tripp Lite (that was a tenth of the cost) and there was a huge difference in image quality. I'm buying another one of these to replace the Tripp Lite as I'm extremely picky about image quality.

I'm using the Avocent Switchview USB in combination with a Dell 1801FP Ultrasharp LCD panel and the the Belkin cable offers a pristine image. The cheaper Tripp Lite cable I have has what I would describe as a ghosting effect on the image where black text on a white background looks just a touch smeared. If you are picky about image quality, this cable is worth it. Disappointingly enough, the Trip Lite appeared to be of good quality -- gold plated connections, ferrite core at one end, and low gauge (thick) wires -- but I guess appearances aren't everything.

    Great Cable for big Monitors
If you need a replacement cable for your monitor don't just buy the same [price] type that came with it. If you have a high quality monitor you will see the difference using this cable. If you have a cheap monitor you may not see the difference, but the cable will outlast your monitor. It's money well spent. It's a very high quality product. Cleared up a 'flicker' problem for me that was caused by an old cable and electronic interference. Good shielding.

Only Good at Its Native Resolution
The picture quality of this LCD monitor is good at its native resolution (1280 x 1024). However, when set at other resolutions, although the image quality is still good, the characters are somewhat distorted. Buy it if you plan to use only at 1280 x 1024 resolution.

Good, but careful with dual setup
I just got 2 of these from FedEx today for setup as a dual monitor. I got them because of the thin bezel, good for dual, and because of the price versus Samsung (I've got 2x 173T's in dual too). I must say that the monitors look great, both design and picture. No dead pixels, and slick design. The picture is warm, easily adjustable and razor sharp for text and colors. The included auto-adjust utility is really good. Problem is this, in a dual screen setup it is almost impossible to get the monitor colors to match. Maybe it is because one is running off the D-Sub and the other DVI with an adaptor. Don't know. The Samsungs don't have this problem (but they are on a dual DVI card). So, if you just want 1, GREAT MONITOR. If you want 2, expect to maybe spend some time getting them matched. Overall, very nice monitor at a great price. COMPETITION FOR SAMSUNG IS GOOD.

    Good low cost monitor
Just recieved this monitor and it is very clear and it auto adjusts everything so there is no real setup to do. Just plug in and power up. The only drawback is if you use a lower res than the one recomended it is not as clear. but the recomended res is perfect size and you wouldnt want to lower it. so i would say for the price this is a good choice

    Very dissapointed.
Theres no doubt about it, this monitor sucks.
It's been giving me trouble ever since I bought it.
I sent it back but never got my money!

    Impressive Product
Super-high resolution, surround-sound speaker quality! Fun, easy-to-use screen display controls. No-frills installation.

The JBL Platinum speakers deliver syphonic music as if you're in the orchestra hall. And the built-in microphones make PC-phone and PC-PC live voice chat communications a simple reality.

    Great Monitor, Great Value
Besides its cool looks, the Compaq MV740 offers great graphics and sound. The JBL speakers are crisp and they are easily adjusted. Picture quality is excellent; I have a DVD player and movies look as good as they do on a TV screen. The 17" screen (15.9: VIA) is perfect for most users; if you need a bigger screen, you're probably a graphic artist (and then you'd have a Mac anyway!). I have the video cam attachment, which is a blast. You can send video messages with sound and still pictures as e-mail attachments. The software for the cam is easy to load and easy to figure out. You'll be sending mini movies the day you plug it in. All in all, a great mid-level monitor that will meet the needs of most home users.

When "FLAT" does NOT mean flat.
This "too good to be true" deal is.
They actually use a regular curved CRT and simply hide it behind a flat piece of glass.
If you are looking at a very bright over the whole screen image, it actually looks very nice.
But if there are any dark images on the screen you'll get this bizarre halo/ghosting effect.
And don't dare try to look at a mostly dark image with any bright images or text ontop of it because the reflections caused by the curved screen behind the front glass will drive you batty.
I REALLY wanted to like this monitor because it does have very good resolution for the price, but it is fundamentally flawed by the ghosting/reflections.

    Good Monitor for the Price
I've lived with this monitor for awhile now and am quite satisfied with it. A true plug & play that looks more expensive than what it costs. I highly recommend this monitor. Good value for the money as long as you don't have to have latest technolgy.

    As Good as it Gets
I own the EN-780 and after reading the only review on this monitor, I had to come to it's defence. This monitor has a better max resolution than most others 17" flat glass monitors out there, and for about half the price in some cases. Nearly all flat-glass monitors are designed the same, with a standard CRT tube and this one is no exception but compared with what else is out there it really is the best value. I purchase computer equipment for a few small companies and this is the monitor I have prefer.

VERY slow refresh - not enough contrast
I've used this for well over 20 days and am now returning it. The lag time from mouse click to view is slow and in some cases created almost sending wrong email to wrong addresses.

I type over 200 wpm and found no problem with the type response, I expect something that at least can keep up with how fast I move a mouse - in selecting files, email, - this just doesn't work fast enough ...

To keep the shadows down the brightness and contrast adjustments are not satisfactory - regardless of what was tried .... creates light and dark display areas in type - sometimes can't tell that a button is "click-able" because the contrast isn't great enough to distinquish the difference - always fuzzy type at top or bottom - which maybe would be eliminated if I didn't have to use the larger fonts - the smaller fonts are just not acceptable for reading ....
I wanted to go to a thin monitor to put it back further on the desk - raise the font size and help keep down eye tiredness from being right on top of the bulky crt monitor ....

....have been to Kogi's website and tried various suggestions (ie support) ....no help - just doesn't keep up with my computer speed. VERY nice looking unit - hate it didn't work for me - - don't know about the speakers - never did hook them up....

Good monitor but my laptop has better speakers
I've got to admit that for the price, this monitor is fantastic. It is very bright, and adjusts well to different computers. One feature that isn't mentioned is that there are mounting points on the back to mount this to a wall. Not sure why you would want to, but you could nonetheless.

The speakers do leave a little to be desired. I didn't use this monitor on my main multimedia computer, so sound wasn't an issue with me. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad for things like email notifications or streaming news radio, but don't expect to listen to Mozart through them. One redeaming quality is that when you turn off the monitor, you are also turning off the speakers. This was something that bothered me about older monitors where there was no way to turn off the sound.

The power uses a 3-leaf clover plug so be aware that replacements won't be as widely available as traditional computer power cables. Further, the included VGA cable isn't extremely short, but is a concern if you plan on locating your screen away from your computer.

All in all, a good monitor for the price. I would not think twice about buying another one if I could afford it. LCD is so much easier on the eyes.

    Fantastic Monitor
I've tried several LCD monitors and this one is as good or better than most. User friendly display, EXCELLENT quality, color and contrast. ... I'm retired a 17" Sony Trinitron for this one. The viewable area is only 1/2" less but the resolution far exceeds the CRT. I give it 6 stars out of a possible 5. :-)

    Doesn't replace the weatherman
The desing of this clock is certainly sleek and modern. The base and remote units each run off 2 AA batteries. There was no AC adaptor. Setup was a breeze. The atomic clock keeps perfect time (at least when the batteries are new)

What I don't like is the weather forecast. The clock shows a logo of sun, clouds, clouds over the sun or rain to denote what the weather will be. Unfortunately, you never know when this will happen. My clock was showing sun three days ago. It was raining then, and has been raining since. I suppose eventually it will be sunny. Still, this is no less accurate than the TV weather people.

This clock/weather station also takes liberty with your personal comfort zone. It has a smiley/frowney face indicator to tell you when the indoor conditions are outside a comfort zone. This feature seems presumptouous to me.

Still, it is a fun item to have. The base unit is expandable to read up to three remote sensors. Only one comes with the unit. For what it is, it functions perfectly. Just don't expect any special insight into the weather as a result.

    No outdoor humidity
Overall I've been very pleased with this weather station. It has been very accurate and I enjoy being able to have indoor and outdoor temperature. The only real complaint I have is that it only shows indoor humidity. I would like to have temperature and humidity for both indoors and outdoors.

    Good value
I've always wanted a unit like this that could pull data in from a wireless sensor and the added benefit of the atomic clock synch made it an easy decision. The barometer shows a trend arrow along with a not terribly useful graphic but that's neither here nor there. It was fun to see the arrow pointing down for a couple of days, turn to the rain graphic, and then voila, it was raining here in L.A.
It's a little easy to knock over as it is very lightweight. The display is pretty large and is easy to read. I like that it holds min and max temps for both indoor and outdoor including the date and time of the record.
The humidity sensor is a nice plus and it uses the standard range to determine the "comfort" zone which it notates with a smiley face.

    LOUSY QUALITY
UPON RECEIVING THIS PRODUCT, I WAS THRILLED AT THE AWESOME DISPLAY FOR SUCH A REASONABLE PRICE. A NICE, BRIGHT, LARGE, READABLE SCREEN. I THOUGHT, WOW, I FOOLED THOSE MONSTERS AT HP THIS TIME!

ALAS, DON'T BE FOOLED (AND FORGIVE ME FOR THE CLICHE') BUT... YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET! I BOUGHT THE MONITOR AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, RECEIVED IT IN EARLY OCTOBER, AND IT STARTED GIVING ME GRIEF AT THE END OF DECEMBER WITH MOMENTARY FLICKERS. THE FLICKERS TURNED INTO THE SCREEN STRETCHING AT THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM AND BOWING TOWARD THE CENTER. THIS COMMON ANNOYANCE TURNED INTO THE SCREEN SHUTTING OFF AT FIRST PERIODICALLY AND THEN ONCE EVERY TWO MINUTES (I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!)

MY LUCK: OF COURSE, IT IS TOO LATE TO RETURN IT TO AMAZON, SO NOW I HAVE TO "SUCK UP" MY LOSSES AND INVEST IN A HIGHER PRICED UNIT. HOPEFULLY I WILL NOT HAVE THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE NEXT MONITOR I PURCHASE.

THIS IS CRAZY, AS I HAVE OWNED MANY COMPUTERS IN MY LIFE AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME MY COMPUTER HAS OUTLASTED MY MONITOR! I HOPE THIS OFFERS CAUTION TO OTHER PEOPLE. TAKE HEED: SPRING FOR A HIGHER PRICED, MORE REPUTABLE UNIT!

    Great value.
This monitor is a good combination of price and performance. It's not perfect, but it has good picture quality, and a nice flat screen. Nice manufacturers warranty and the refresh rates are adequate for most users.

    Top of the line
I've had this monitor for a while now and I am nothing short of pleased by the performance of this monitor. The NEC AccuSync 75F is a 17" flat screen monitor. My very old Packard Bell had finally died (go figure), so anything would be an upgrade and I did not want to spend any money.

So I finally decided to go out and spend a few hundred on an NEC, which I had not heard a lot about except it was the manufacturer of my CD-ROM. It has a .24 dot pitch, which is standard in this time. This monitor is also very easy on the eyes.. it comes with a lot of built-in features that make sitting behind the monitor for an extended amount of time a joy instead of a headache.

It has suitable resolution support (up to 1280x1024 @ 66 Hz). The monitor also has a very user-friendly setup which is a breeze to control and it comes with a full 3-year warranty.

buy another brand -- any other brand
I bought a Samsung 17-inch LCD six months ago and will now be on my third unit. The first one lasted less than two weeks before permanent vertical lines began appearing. Fortunately it was within the retailer's return period so they gave me a new unit. The second one lasted until recently, when it instantly and irrevocably started displaying bands of vertical lines, and became super-bright with severe lagging and ghosting. There was no apparent cause for either problem. Most unfortunate of all, Samsung treats warranty/customer service requests as a game. I have been without a usable unit for two weeks, and still have no idea when the refurbished replacement unit will be shipped. Repair is not a good option since they only do repairs at one facility in the entire U.S., and can give no estimate whatsoever as to how long the repair will take. In my multiple conversations with them not one employee has expressed any degree of surprise that two brand new LCD displays have had these kinds of problems.

    Not bad
The Syncmaster 173S that I very recently purchased is doing fine. However I wouldn't know who to blame for the broken pixels, but most likely Samsung. The constant black dot and then the blue and red one I see every so often are a bit annoying, but supposedly most LCDs come with it. It's too much of a pain to exchange it and demand for a new one or for it to be fixed, but that's a personal preference. Overall though, the crispness and clarity is amazing and i'm satisfied with that. I'd prefer the neck to have more flexibility. Size is decent at this stage in technology~

    Very Good For The Price
I just received this Monitor and I am very happy with it. I had the classic CRT Sony 17" Trinitron Monitor which was still a good monitor, but I wanted space and LCD. It's kind of different to have space on my desk. This is perfect for what I needed, it has a great picture and works well with games. I even checked CNET for reveiws on this and they had no Cons and said you would usually pay more for a model like this. I have Windows XP for a operating system so it was easy to set up. According to the manual any Windows or Mac would be easy. I adjusted the brightness to 50% since it was originaly to bright for me and it looks good. Worth the price

Not bad... but sure could be better.
First of all, I was quite disappointed when this monitor arrived and I found it was not really a "flat monitor". It's screen is as bulbous and curved as any regular monitor I've seen anywhere. I decided to try it. The picture quality was decent once I got it all adjusted - and if you're a gamer you'll do this for every game, too. Whenever my resolution changed, I spent 10-15 minutes trying to "dial-in" a good (just comfortable) view. Once done... well, it's a 19 inch monitor. Not a FLAT 19", but a 19" none-the-less. Also, the case was bigger than my wife's NEC 19". I don't know why, but it's huge. I've returned it for an NEC FE950+BLK.

    Solid Choice
Although having only used the monitor for all of 1 day, my initial reaction is nothing but positive. The image quality is really good, especially at 1024x768 - colors were sharp, games looked fantastic. The only minor flaw is the on-screen control panel - less than intuitive - although you can dial the monitor in how you want it, it takes some doing, as the monitor is black, so you cannot see the labels on the buttons - once you dial it in, this becomes less of a problem. After reading the first review, I was a bit skeptical of this monitor, but gave it a try - had the Samsung 955DF been in stock, that would have been my 1st choice... But, if you want a black monitor to go with your surroundings, this is as good as I've seen - #1 Samsung 955DF..., #2 Sceptre P98VB - you can't go wrong with either.

    Solid Choice
I recently received this monitor - it is very crisp, very clean looking, the images are top notch, the screen has a bit of a curve in it, more than I would have guessed from a product with the word "flat" in the title, but generally acceptable. The on-screen controls are not labeled, but easy enough to figure out once you play with them to see the effect on the display when you change them.
The Samsung 955DF would have been my 1st choice, but was perenially out of stock - I looked at this one in a store, and is comparable in image quality - albeit about $60 cheaper. This monitor is solid in my book, and looks fantastic against a black hutch, much better than a beige monitor.

    wind speed indicator short commings
This Weather station is less then adequate. The temp and humidity work ok but the wind speed sensor is a piece of junk. I would suggest a station that uses the spinning cup sensor. One little piece of spider web caught up in the blades of this one puts it out of service. Also their technical support is poor to say the least.

    The Local WX Man
I am very satisfied with this wx sta. (It is econical and if I really get serious about tracking the wx I will have had enough of an exposure as to whether to upgrade or not.)
    This item is "as advertised".

Great setup at a reasonable price
After reading about problems with the Oregon Scientific stuff I decided to look for something else. I read that Davis is the best consumer weather station but it was double the price of La Crosse.

So far I have been very happy with setup. Everything has worked out of the box (haven't tried the computer software yet). Now I know how much rain we are getting so I don't over water our new trees and what the weather will be for the next few hours. It has been rather rainy here lately and this station has been right on when predicting rain.

We have the base unit sitting in a south facing window at this time and it is receiving the Atomic clock radio signal. The outdoor temp guage (module that the wind and rain plugs into) is one floor up and on the east side of the house. Even at that distance it seems to have no problems updating.

The one thing I don't like is that the display does not show the in-door and out-door temps at the same time. I find myself pressing the display button a lot to get the different info. Would have been nice if more info was on the screen at the same time. This is the only reason I'm rating this at 4 of 5 stars.
