17 Inches is a world a differenceHappily however, the mx70 proved me wrong in all respects. The 17 inch display opened a whole new world of picture that I did not get with my previous 15 inch monitor. The colors are quite vivid and the "goofy" space age design actually makes the monitor easier to view as its gray-scale colors do not draw the eye away from the screen.
In addition the menu mode on the monitor is easy to use and has a number of extra features including an advanced features menu as well as an advanced geometry menu that allows the user to change the geometric shape of the display.
Finally, the monitor has an incorporated serviceable microphone at the top of the monitor and whose connection runs along the monitor's connection to the tower.
I would highly recommend this unit.

Perfection
KDS 15" Flat Panel MonitorThe KDS VS-F15 met all of my criteria. As with most LCD monitors in this price range, it needs to be viewed head on and set at the 1024 x 768 display mode for the sharpest resolution.
If you are considering one, go for it, you'll be happy.

Great Monitor!I am very impressed with the picture and quality of this monitor. It is just big enough to use with a screen resolution of 1280x1024 and works fine with both Windows and Linux. This monitor has plenty of geometry and color controls and delivers fantastic contrast for a CRT monitor. I was a bit hesitant to purchase a flat-screen monitor for this price; in some of my shopping I found flat-screen monitors advertised for the same price when they were just a convex (curved) screen behind flat glass casing.
For the price, you cannot get a better deal. I used the Super-Saver Shipping option and it was at my doorstep in less than 24 hours from when I placed the order. The KDS XtremeFlat XF-7i 17" CRT Monitor is truly flat and makes any viewing angle comfortable; it is very easy on both the eyes and the wallet.
A Solid ChoiceMy primary computer system has a 19-inch Trinitron monitor. And honestly, if I am just surfing the internet and sending e-mail, this 17-inch KDS is just as nice to look at. The Trinitron monitor does show more saturated colors when watching DVDs and such, but that could be due to that system's superior graphics card.
I can find no fault or shortcomings in this 17-inch KDS monitor. I can recommend this unit, with no reservations, to anyone looking for a 17-inch flat screen CRT.

Amazon is the best! Its not a very "cool" cabinet, but isnt bad either. Its a heavy monster weighing in at 50 lbs, but has a petite footprint. It even has sRGB support, not to mention all the regular featuers such as on-screen controls. The package didnt have a driver CD, but downloading one from the internet was a breeze (nec.com). I use this with Dell, XP and it works great.
Now for the best part. Ordering through Amazon.com was a dream. The site is great, and addressed all my questions from the very start. Customer Services is absolutely incredible, they won my heart. They are most courteous and professional people to do business with. I strongly recommend you buy from Amazon. I know I always will.
Worth Every Penny
One of the very best...OK. The picture. Wow, what a picture it is. Crisp, clear, bright, and very nice contrast. THIS is why people seek after flat screen monitors. The colors on-screen are some of the nicest I have seen, being true-to-life colors, which is important to me as a designer. This monitor will push higher resolutions than most in it's class, and it does so with ease. Viewing for hours on end is easy on the eyes, too. What a pleasure.
There are two extremely faint lines on the screen (I dare you to look) from the support wires for the aperture grill that are barely visible. IF you notice these, you can easily get used to, and forget all about them. They certainly are not a distraction and as I mentioned, are barely visible.
This is a keeper. All in all, I am very impressed - and this after trying several monitors first. My wife's NEC FE950 is what turned me on to this one. A nice little investment that I can only think of replacing one day in the future with the NEC 1250+BK, the 21" big brother to the FE950.
Highly Recommended.

Great TV--you may not need the speakers
SuperbI cannot recommend this set highly enough - it has every conceivable input (even coaxial for those without a digital cable box), great sound and a very contemporary look. It is especially suitable for those who cannot be bothered with a home theatre set up with all the extra speakers that entails - the simulated suround sound it provides is really very good with only a few bass hicups. Amazingly, even the wife likes it (though she struggles to admit it!)You will not be dissapointed.

Hard to find retail, but worth the hunt online
Excellent in DVI mode, okay in analog. If you need to use an LCD in analog mode, look at Viewsonic instead. Their analog to digital translation has always been great. However, if you can get a DVI video interface on your PC, this is the monitor to have.
I use this monitor under RedHat 7.3, and it works great.
breathtakingThe screen seems huge. It has low power consumption. It turns on instantly, so you don't wait for it to warm up like a CRT. It installed effortlessly on Windows ME and then again on Windows XP.

Great kitchen or desktop TV!I purchased a pivoting and extending wall mounted arm that is designed for Sharp and Samsung TV's of this size. This allows it to be mounted under a kitchen cabinet and can then be pulled out and pivoted at any angle. This requires the (easy - four screws) removal of the standard base. It can then be pushed up against the wall when not in use to maximize counter space. The on-screen menu allows for a full range of video and audio setting changes, including standard, movie, and custom modes. Overall, this is a great TV.
