A wireless wonder
I have to admit I was a little wary of getting a cordless mouse. I had heard from colleages and friends alike that the battery life on these things was horrendous, and that the reception wasn't all the great either. Of course little did I know they were referring to the older models, rather than the less expensive and more reliable versions around today. Of these newer models, the Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse has got to be one of the best I've seen. The battery life is great, and the reception is spectacular. I've used my mouse from across the room on several occasions, although the practicality of that was up for debate since I couldn't see what I was clicking. But hey, I did it because I could, not because I should. Even beyond the technical aspects of the mouse, its high marks continue on to the design, fitting very comfortably in either hand. While the mouse isn't as small as other mice, its by no means large. One last thing that makes this mouse particularly sweet, is that it only takes two AAA batteries, which are included.

I'm in loooooooove! Finally, a mouse I adore
Did you ever consider how IMPORTANT the mouse is? This is the interface to your computer. Along with the keyboard, this is how you access your information. How good your mouse is will determine the comfort level of using your computer.

I noticed I was getting wrist pain from excessive mouse use. I switched to the cordless Logitech mouse and I never EVER want to use another kind of mouse. I tried the optical mouse (tracks on any surface) but the cordless mouse was far, far better. One reason is that the lack of the "tail" on the mouse means you have complete freedom of movement along the mouse pad. You never hold your wrist at a strange or strained angle to accommodate the cord getting stuck or pulling on the mouse. For gaming (we like Age of Kings) it really does the job. Agile, fast and snappy.

I added a very good ergonomic gel mouse pad and I noticed a huge difference in my comfort using the computer. I recommend adding an ergonomic mouse pad for anyone who uses their computer a lot.

The only downside to the cordless mouse is that you do need to keep a supply of AAA batteries in your desk for when they run out. Or your mouse will be dead in the water, so to speak. This is a small price to pay for cordless ease.

Another potential downside for you is if you have large hands. I have average sized hands and this mouse is just right. But I know someone with extra large hands and he finds this mouse a bit small. So if you find you get hand cramps because you have very big hands and most computer mice are too small, this one may not be the one for you.

My Cordless Pal
I am a grandmother and I ABSOLUTELY love this cordless mouse. During playing a card game online I can put the mouse on my knee and play away. It tells you when the battery is low. I have replaced them twice in a year and the last time was just a couple weeks ago. I wish we had these at work because of their movability and comfort. Everyone should have one.

    yay best mouse ever!
This is my 3rd 3M Ergonomical mouse. While it may seem silly to keep on buy the same mouse over and over, it is the best mouse out there! a little back ground about me: I use my PC all day for work, and then at night I play PC games all night long. As a result my mouse gets about 12 hrs/day and 7 days a week of abuse. My previous 3M mouse died about after 3 years of usage each but I keep on buying new replacements because of the superior design. It is truly ergonomical! Despite using my mouse for prolong period of time I don't feel any discomfort that I get with other "normal" mouses. In addition, the previous model was the traditional mouse with a ball at the bottom where as this one is optical! I was so pleasantly surprised when I open the box. They should mention it in the product details!

Perfect for those with wrist pain
This 3M Ergonomic Renaissance Mouse is great for those with wrist injuries or discomfort because it keeps your thumb pointed in the upward direction, eliminating pressure within the carpel tunnel area. I was pleased to find this new version that uses an optical sensor, a USB connector, and a new graphite color.

Mouse model number EM500GPS is supposed to be for those with palms 3.5 inches wide and less and EM500GPL is for those with palms 3.5 inches and larger. My palm is exactly 3.5 inches wide, I tried both, and the large size was much more comfortable. My fingers were much too cramped with the smaller mouse. I think the recommended cut-off between the two sizes should be about 3.0 inches.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of drawbacks. First, it's for right-handers only. Secondly, it is not quite as precise as a regular mouse because you can't use your fingers to fine tune the position of the pointer, so I occasionally miss target areas and have to reposition the mouse and click again. However, I still highly recommend this product because it helped eliminate my wrist pain, and that is the first priority! You can find info and drivers at the official 3M website: 3m.com/ergonomics/ergonomicmouse.jhtml

It Solved My Carpal Tunnel Issues
This mouse has been a godsend for me. A little background....I used a regular mouse until my right hand couldn't take it anymore and then I used my left hand and the same occurred after about two years. After that I tried a trackball and a gyro mouse but neither helped much. If your problem is like mine where its the clicking and wrist position of a regular mouse that cause the pain, consider this mouse because it sure did the trick for me.

Simply the best track-ball/mouse ever made!
I used to use a mouse until one day at work my Mac took a nose-dive and I was forced to use a co-worker's Mac while my machine was being repaired. My co-worker was on vacation, so I was at his desk for 3 days. He had this trackball connected to his Mac and I felt like a new baby calf trying out new legs.

I was so used to my mouse, I felt like I had just gotten my hand for Christmas and didn't know how to use it. After just one day of using it, however, I was hooked. When my Mac was repaired, I stayed at my co-worker's desk until he came back from vacation, just so I could use his trackball and I asked my boss to order one for me as well.

No more mousepads, no more picking up and moving a mouse when you run out of cord and/or desk-space, and a trackball carefully designed to fit a normal adult human hand with ease.

The trackball is easy to clean and there is never any skipping on the rollers - the friction of the ball against the metal rollers is superb. The buttons are angled at such a way, they are almost a pleasure to click. I have never had wrist discomfort using this model.

The MouseWorks software that comes with the trackball allows you to program the 4 buttons to do different functions and you can even program "chords"... that is the action that happens when you click 2 buttons at once.

It is truly a shame that Kensington did not port this same exact model to USB for modern users and instead fell in love with the shiny colored plastic with poor traction on the rollers.

You can acquire an ADB to USB adapter that will allow you to use this on newer Macs or even PCs. The Kensington Mouseworks software is available for older Macs and newer Macs, as well as PCs.

If you have an old beige Mac you're using as a fax server or for another task, this model trackball is a joy to use.

For those using a newer Mac without an ADB port, you will have to buy a separate adapter to use this mouse with your computer.

    Great Mouse!
I have had the original expert mouse for a long time and it is much eaiser to use than a normal mouse. I would not buy it though if you play a lot of games becuase it is hard to move very fast to certin but is great for regular use. Buy it!

Old design still the best design!
I've used a Kensington TurboMouse for a solid decade, and I use my computer 4-5 hours per day, so I can recommend it with confidence.

The first one I bought lasted nine years. The fat ball and easy-to-click, naturally positioned buttons were a welcome relief from the Macintosh mice of the early 90's. User definable functions such as right button and chord (clicking both buttons at once) made the TurboMouse even more functional than a mouse. Heavily weighted with non-skid pads, it sits in about 1/2 the space of a mousepad. It gives a feeling of sturdiness and absolute precise control over your cursoring. And it's easy to clean; the ball falls out when you turn it over.

When mine started to go on the blink after 9 years, I ordered another - the 4-button model you see here, compatible with Kensington's latest software. Then I got up the courage to peel the sticker off the bottom. Lo and behold, the rollers were visible! And you would not believe the brown gunge that was accumulated in there. After I cleaned that out, the 9-year-old trackball was again functioning perfectly. What a service record!

I do recommend a foam wrist support with this, although it is much easier on the old carpal tunnel than a standard mouse. Gamers beware: you may discover trouble with using the button definitions with such games as Myth and Starcraft; to be quite precise, these used to work on my old PowerMac 7300, but no longer work on the ADB port of my Yikes! B&W G3. But I don't care about that very much; it's a great product and I'd buy a third in a heartbeat.

    Ah, the freedom
Wireless is where it's at. Just plug in the base unit, pop some batteries in the mouse and thats all you do. The mouse is comfortable, sized for normal human hands and has great accuracy. Precise movements are a snap, buttons feel great, the wheel has good feedback. I just can't use non-wheel mice any more.
I've never been a big fan of logitech keyboards but their mice are first rate.

Even a Grandma can install it!
I installed my new Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse-Special Edition last night with trepidation. No problem. The installation instructions were concise and easy to follow. When I clicked 'Finish' I accidently moved the mouse and was amazed to see my curser actually move. It glides smoothly and I am enjoying it thoroughly. If a 69 year old grandmother can do it, anybody can. Grandma Twig

Works the same as any mouse, without an anoying cord!
This mouse works exactly like any high-quality mouse, with two buttons and a wheel that can be used as a third button. It works perfectly on two AAA batteries for a long time. I've had mine for 3 months without a battery change. It never fails, and I can play computer games from my couch while I watch TV. It is durable, comfortable, and stylish (You can change the color of the back half from white to red or blue-green). I recommend this to anyone who is sick of their mouse cord not being long enough or getting tangled up in other cords and not letting you move where you want to.

    A must for Maya users!
Alias/Wavefront's Maya was designed for a 3-button mouse like these, since the application started on the SGI. I have one for work and was going to buy another for home, only to find Amazon isn't stocking them any more?!? Quite a shame.

    simple
This is a simple inexpensive product that works.

Why spend big bucks when all the functionality is here?
Mac (people) can only handle one button. Microsoft has to make up usage's for the third button. The bottom line is, if you are using UNIX or Linux or if you are into CAD. The third button has meaning.

Now that we have covered reasons for the third button, lets cover durability. A lot of mice are like light bulbs; they can go out at any minute. You can give this one to your grand kid. And you don't have to hold your hand in a funny position to get some odd wheel turning. Real mousers want to move the mouse. If you do not want to move your mouse, get a joystick.

    Great Little optical Mouse
Your Mac needs at least a two button mouse and this is the one. Good for laptops when traveling and great on my eMac at home! Just the right size for smaller hands, although fits fine in mine. Nice design, blends nicely with the Mac white, and it really adds lots more functionality to use the right click menus. Cannot go wrong - stick the cord in the USB port and away you go - no software need be installed but then do include some if you want to program the other buttons. Working great on my MAC OS X 10.2.8 machine.

    Solid little mouse
The appearance and feel of this mouse is top notch. The only weakness was that the installation CD did not contain an OS X native software. The download from Macally was very small and now the mouse works fine in OS X, right click and all.

    Excellent small mouse!
Works fine on my iBook. Love the size and responsiveness. Good value.

    great
The Microsoft IntelliMoust Pro is the best mouse i've ever used. Great comfort, and the little scrolly thing is GREAT!! very good buy..and it's by microsoft..cna't go wrong there!!!

the high-caliber mouse makes for quick work
My Intellimouse accompanied my new PC, so cost does not enter as a factor for me. Although another critique complained of the price, I ask how long did it take for the mouse's options to "pay its own way"? Its ergonomically well-placed rollbar aids in the quick scrolling through the volumes of info I have to do. Its online help is concise. Though I haven't needed their tech support yet, I expect the same high-caliber expertise on the other end of the phone as is evident in their end product. I plan to make the INTELLImouse a permanent part of my hardware. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

Excellent -- Addictive -- Can't surf without it anymore!
I've tried 3-Button mice, Trackballs, and plain mice. The Intellimouse is the BEST in my book! Now that I'm using it, I find myself miserable with my old mouse that I have to use at work. Buy it...You won't regret it. The only thing that I don't like, is really too high priced. But somebody has to feed poor old Mr. Gates, right?

Got to love them cheap mouse pads
I wonder why they are charging...more for blue? I bought the Gold, Green, and Grey version for the office. These mouse pads are great. It's so new, when I first placed and used my MS IntelliMouse Optical USB on them, they made squidly sounds. Very nice. And did I mention how big these babies are?

    Very Comfortable
This was the greatest mouse pad I have ever had! It has a very coushy feeling to it and it great if you work at your computer for a long time in a day. It also comes in a lot of different colors which is great becuase it can match you desk or computer. I would suggest this to any body!

      Seamless installation and smooth operation.
I am overwhelmed with the ease of installation and thoughfulness of this package. What a bargain!

I really like being able to plug the rechargable mouse into a USB port to recharge it. The instructions said to install the charging cord to a USB port on the back of the computer or the batteries would not recharge, but I plugged it into my powered USB hub and it charges fine. The wireless freedom is better than I anticipated. The optics didn't work well on the desk glass top so I'm still using a mouse pad.

Too bad Kensington didn't make the keyboard rechargable, but the batteries change out easily, and I'll probably use rechagable batteries later. The keys have a different feel (to say nothing about their shape), and there is no positive feedback. My keyboard resides under my desk in a pullout drawer and the best advantage for me is that now there is no cord tugging the keyboard out of place when I pull the drawer out.

Taskbar icons for the mouse and keyboard allow me to check battery status, and the mouse continues to work when being charged. Everything worked flawlessly even without any software installation, and the download from Kensington worked fine. A label on the included CD recommended going to the website for the most current drivers. Lots of driver packages to pick from, but only one is appropriate and it covers keyboard and mouse both.

One of the most pleasant computer things to happen to me in twenty years!

      Suprisingly Great
I am typing this review from the room next door to my computer, I can't even see the screen. I just bought this setup today to replace a normal keyboard, and so far, I am very impressed. The keyboard has oddly shaped buttons that look weird at first, but once you use them, it makes sense. The mouse is comfortable and very accurate. The utilites that come with the keyboard are rather handy, such as a meter that tells you how charged the mouse batteries are so that you know when to plug it into the charging cord. The only thing I am mildly worried about is the longevity of the products due to the low price, but the 5 year warranty eased my fears. Everything feels sturdy though. I don't feel like typing anymore, I have to many games to keep trying out (Call of Duty is great from a comfortable distance). So, if you want wireless, but are on a budget, I strongly suggest this keyboard. (NOTE: this review was editted for typos after the author returned to his computer)

        best mouse i ever bought
i bought this as a replacement for the incredibly crappy microsoft wireless optical mouse that i had previously, and three months and thousands of clicks later it still works flawlessly.

        - optical tracking smoothness/resolution is excellent
        - USB-PnP (no driver required for my comp)
        - thin wire doesn't get in the way--my last experience with a wireless mouse was anything but liberating, thank god this mouse is wired
        - it's small, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing... silver/translucent blue plastic with red backlight (basically the optical sensor light visible from the top)
        - only con: very easy to inadvertently click the mouse, requires only the lightest touch...fine for small hands, hellish for large ones

        Compact, cute, cool
I purchased this mouse based on color and compactability for traveling. It works great, fits well into smaller hands such as mine (...and children) and moves effortlessly.

The price being offered on Amazon is amazing, as well! I paid nearly $10 more at Office Depot in-store (aka, no shipping) in Miami.
