Doesn't work on some standard desktops
My main gripe about this mouse is that it is somewhat picky about what surfaces it will work with. I have other optical mice that work fine on my standard grey desk; however, the Kensington Optical Pocketmouse just won't work on that surface. It will work on mousepads and many wood surfaces, however. It's a decent mouse otherwise, but I expect more versatility from a device designed for travel.

nice little mouse
This is a nice little mouse. Large enough to use, but small enough to hide in the corner of your shoulder bag. It doesn't look like the white mouse pictured, but I don't mind - it's better, translucent with its red glow. The only gripe I have is that I don't seem to be able to customize the behavior of the scroll wheel, and its default behavior is to scroll a tiny bit (too little) in individual clicks, but large bits (too large) when scrolled more quickly.

Best Mini Mouse!! Download the driver from their website.
I used to have problem with this mouse for the first year: it won't work on the light color mouse pad, the point is always un-steable,..... just SO Hard to control! We tried to install the driver, clean the exterior, change the mouse pad with dark color background..... It just won't work. My husband gave one last try by downloading the driver from their web site, and, this time, it WORKS!! My problem solved! This mouse has been like a pro ever since!! Steable, Sharp, and easy to control!

Used Car Type Sales
I purchased the item then noticed it did not say optical mouse. A ball mouse anyone will tell you is obsolete. So I tried to contact the seller by email and it came back to me.

I contacted Yahoo and apparently that is what they are a bunch of. The description was misleading. The product is well worn.

I do not like dealing with people or companies that are deceptive. I would not by anything else under such circumstances.

Compact but not so great
I bought this mouse to use with my laptop computer. I carry it around a lot and it takes up a little less space than a regular sized mouse. But the small size makes my hand cramp after using it for a while. Also the scroll wheel is loud and jerky and it comes with a USB connection and a bulky converter if you want to use a PS/2 port. Overall, I would go with a different mouse unless small size is the most important thing to you.

Dig it!
I bought this mouse to replace the Apple-branded optical mouse that came with my iMac. While the package says that the mouse is PC only (and the included PC-only drivers are on a floppy disk! How quaint!), this mouse works with plug-and-play perfection on my iMac with Mac OS X, including the right-click (which performs a control-click) and the scroll wheel. All of the buttons work great in Quake III too. I love the mouse's smaller size (I'm one of the few people who prefer Apple's little hockey-puck mice over the new bulky optical ones), and it tracks dandily too on a standard mouse pad. It's a great value, too. My only complaint is that after a few days of use, the mouse began to quietly squeak (heh) when I move it to the right, but it could prob'ly be fixed with a drop of oil if I cared enough to fix it (which I don't).

Pretty good most of the time
This switch works most of the time. Occasionally it registers no keyboard or mouse. It also occasionally doubles keystrokes when I'm typing.

Works well and a great space saver
I've had a problem at my desk for a month. I have four computers in a cube designed for one. After researching my options this KVM switch seemed like an excellent solution. Installation wasn't too tough, though the switch doesn't come with any cables (hence the four stars) and the D-Link ones were backordered. Once installation was complete, all my computers started up with no problems. Switching from one to another is handled either by a "Select" button on the switch box that moves through the connected computers serially or by using an easy to remember key combination to select a specific computer. No drivers or any software was required to install the hardware.

Overall, I highly recommend this KVM switch. Anytime you have a lot of computers in a little bit of space, it will come in handy.

Poor Buttons & Web Site Configuration Tool Needs Work
I bought this remote hoping to replace my Sony RM-VL900 (which I love but programming it's a pain).

First, the buttons on the H688 are flimsy and small. Feeling your way around the remote is difficult. The directional buttons (up, down, left, right) are on a small metal ring and pressing it repeatedly becomes painful - especially if you're a heavy TiVo user.

Programming this remote from the web site is also a mess unless you have a very basic setup. I have a TiVo, DVD, amp, TV and satellite box. Took me over 4 hours to worm my way around all the configuration steps and choices until I got it where I liked it.

If they could make the buttons more like the Sony RM-VL900 and improve the web site, I would recommend this remote to others. Right now, I'd say the Sony is a better bet even though you have to manually program it.

I'd like to know how this deals with discrete codes...
My biggest challenge is my TV doesn't support discrete codes. I'd like to know if anyone has had success with this remote and being able to use it to switch across components.

The rating is irrelevant, I've never touched the product.

finally, I can put all my original remotes away
If you can consider $200 for a remote, then buy one. Instead of replacing individual remote controls the unit easily programs itself to use your system-which is a complicated feat when you listen to your TV through a stereo and use a cable box or dish to control the channels.

When I got the unit, I went to the harmony web site and told it what components I have-then I set up activities like watch TV. The web site asked what I watched TV on. (The TV of course.) Then it asked what I used to change the channels. I choose the cable box. Then it asked how to control the volume-I play the sound through my stereo. It then asked the what input to set the stereo to when watching TV and what input the TV uses to tune the cable box. Now when I hit the "Watch TV" button the remote turns on the stereo, TV and cable box, set the stereo to the proper input and sets the TV to receive the cable box. The channel buttons operate the cable box and the volume buttons work the stereo. The unit knows just how long to wait after turning something on before it tries to send further commands. In the mean time it can operate the other components. Way cool!

The remote knows what components to turn off and on when you change activities. So if after watching TV I want to listen to the radio-with one button the remote turns the TV and cable box off and sets the stereo to my favorite radio station.

That's just a couple of examples of what the remote can do. The online database has all the codes I needed to get started and I fine tuned the functions on the remote after the initial setup.

To answer the previous post, the unit can work input selection where you have to hit the input button until you get the desired input as opposed to a button that directly selects the input. I knows how many inputs are in the cycle and counts how many times it needs to send the code. The "help" button prompts you through getting the remote back in sync with components if you change the inputs manually.

The remote also has device mode where it works like a dedicated remote for each component-in case you don't like the "activity" model.

I have the H688 since it has page up and page down buttons I frequently use with my Replay TV digital video recorder-choose the unit that has the buttons you need.

I bought one of these at a store, not amazon. But everyone should know it's NOT OPTICAL. It has a lit up red wheel, but it's still a trackball. Don't get ripped by Labtec!

        garbage
I simply wouldn't buy this product or any belkin product for that matter because most of them contain lead and are unhealthy. How can they get away with selling such products. Just because they let you know that it contains harmful chemicals doesn't make it right!

        Good comfortable wrist support.
I'm glad some reviewers have commented that the wrist pad has lead, and shouldn't be used by those with lead allergies or little children who might eat it.

I'm really happy with this wrist/mouse pad. I spend a lot of time on the computers at home and at work. I had a frozen right shoulder from not having good wrist support and from working with the mouse in the wrong position. I was in screaming pain about about a year. This mousepad helped by providing good wrist support which lowered the stress on my shoulder. I wore out the first Belkin gel pad, and am now on my second.

The gel pad is covered with a nice low friction material, is wide enough so that your wrist isn't stuck in one position, and is neither too hard nor too soft for comfort. The part of the mouse pad where the mouse runs wild and free is also covered with the same low friction silky material so the mouse can be moved easily. It is also cut wider at the top so that the mouse has more room to move, while your arm doesn't have to move as much.

When this mouse pad wears out, I'll probably buy another of the same. Until they come up with direct mental control over the cursor, this works just fine.

A must for writers or anyone using computer heavily
I am at the computer a horrid number of hours every day, 7 days a week. I had surgery twice on my wrist (not computer related) and I HAVE to have a good support. I tried several others wrist supports, and no matter which style or brand, I ended up with the wrist stiff, aching and over time this began to curtail my time at the computer. Well, I am a writer and this is not acceptable. Since getting this pad, those wrist problems have gone. It is so cool and comforting, that I can work without any pains and stiffness later.

I really loved this and the ease from pain it give me.

Not comfortable and too expensive for what you get
This gel mousepad with wristrest is pretty hard on the wrist, you really have to press hard to get it to conform to the shape of your wrist, is isn't very comfortable. The gel is made from plastic polymers and it has an odour of plastic, it is not washable so it gets dirty and stays dirty. You can't replace the gel packs if it gets a leak. There are better mousepads with gel wristrests out there.

Great for wrist strain, bad for optical mouse
This gel pad is so comfortable, that if you use a mouse all day at work, you might well find it helps wrist pain. The problem is that optical mice need a light, non-shiny background to work. So the dark surface is exactly what the mouse DOESN'T work on.

Any reason this can't be also made in white? Conclusion: if you use a corded, roller ball style mouse, you are ok. If you use an optical mouse, this is most definitely a mousepad to avoid.

        Almost completely satisfying!
The gel wrist-pad is very comfortable. The mousepad has a very nice covering to prevent it from getting dirty or greasy easily, BUT the mousepad could have had at least another inch added to it for a little more scrolling space!

        Wrong
I bought an optical mouse but I got a normal mouse with a red decorative light.

Excellent Little Mouse at a Great Price
The Labtec optical mouse has a nice feel in the user's hand. It is not too obtrusive or over-round and the fingers settle quite nicely on the mouse buttons.

The scroll wheel is a nice addition but is set in the mouse further than usual. This has its ups and downs. On the positive side, the scroll wheel does not protrude clumsily from the mouse. On the other hand, it does take some getting used to and slows the pace of scrolling.

The optical eye is smaller than I have seen on an optical mouse. Again, on the positive side, the small eye slows down the mouse movement such that the pointer does not go careening around the screen. On the down side, some people may like that feature in their mouse.

As for the construction, it does not feel like the most sturdy mouse out there but I suppose if you don't smack it around like a hockey puck, it should last you just fine.

        Great bargain
I trade stocks for a living, so I need the speed and accuracy of an optical mouse, as well as a comfortable design since my hand is on it pretty much constantly for 8 hours a day. I used one of these at work for 3 months without any problem. I bought a Logitech for my home for $$... (Before I realized how inexpensive these were) and found the comfort, feel, and performance to be superior with this Labtec mouse in every way. It's the best mouse I've ever used -- regardless of price.

Stick this mouse in a trap!
I needed a new mouse, and picked this one up. Worked great for two weeks, then it died. Returned it, got a replacement one, it died even faster. Have opened it, to clean it out, and it didn't need cleaning, something inside of it internally just decided to up and die I suppose. Just a big waste of time and money as far as I'm concerned. This mouse deserves to get stuck in a trap.

          Well worth the price
I've been useing this mouse for four years and with just normal cleaning it works great. I have tried other trackball mice and they just do not hold up to this one.

The best trackball I've ever used!
The Belkin trackball is the best trackball I've ever used! I tried 2 other trackball brands whose scroll option stopped working after a month, but I've never had that problem with the Belkin. I've had my current Belkin for over a year and with proper maintenance, it's still working great. In fact, this is the first trackball/mouse I've owned that has lasted me over a year! The only drawback perhaps is that it is ergonomically designed for right-handers only - my leftie boyfriend had to learn how to use it with his right hand. The ball is also a cool purple shade (instead of the usual boring red or aquamarine), which goes well with my other decor, so it's functional AND stylish! I will continue to use a Belkin trackball for as long as they make it!

            More Toy than Tool!
I bought one of these trackballs, thinking it would be a serviceable mobile tool to complement my two Compac notebooks, but it turns out that, above the fact that the button controls are completely different from any other unit and require relearning a new system, the trackball control is a major maintenance problem, using tiny steel pins with soft rubber friction contacts which shed dust debris at such a rate the trackball requires cleaning almost every session it is used. Even when clean, the track function continues to stick and jump, rendering the unit nearly useless for serious work. Give it to the kids for the toy it is.

Worth the money, that's about it.
I've gotten a lot of use out of this mouse. It was well worth the fifteen bucks I spent on it. However, as I write this, I am shopping for something a little better. The mouse is extremely convenient for use with a laptop, however it is certainly tempermental. The spring in the "trigger" mouse button gave out in it's first week of use, but was still useable. The wheel was prone to getting "stuck" ever so often. Overall, I would recommend just spending the extra money and getting something a little better, if you can find it (which I haven't yet).

            Portable and Left handed!!
I love this track ball. Using a mouse over the past couple of years I had forgotten how great a trackball could be. I originally picked it up because it was small and would be easier to control than the standard built in laptop controls, but now I'm thinking of getting more of them for the office and my desktop at home. I consider it the top of my must have list for left handed equipment!

            The positives:
            1. It is truely ambidexterous, since the main button is the trigger under the trackball one can use it with either hand without changing the mouse settings. I carry it everywhere, because I can log onto the network plug into a spare USB slot and go. When I log off I just unplug and the right handed setting for the machine remain intact.

            2. seamless power point. It's so small I can tuck it into the palm of my hand. no more stopping to reach for a mouse or keyboard buttons, asking coworkers for the 'next slide', or fighting with the IRDA settings or batteries in a wireless device.

            3. I've discovered it's an improvement on the mouse scroll wheel - by holding down the left button and using the track ball I can scroll both horizontally and vertically.

            4. Mouse tag - with both the track ball and the regular mouse connected to our desktop my kids have discovered a whole new dimension to their video games. I now longer have to put the 1 player games in 'time-out'; they are suddenly 2 player, whoever is quickest to click gets a turn. Even office applications have become fun for them.

            negatives:
            1. If you aren't used to a trackball it will take some playing with your mouse acceleration settings to customize this product. As I said you can use it anywhere, but unless one does some customizing it can take a moment to move the pointer across the screen (of course this added control is convenient in graphics applications such as illustrator and gimp).

            2. durability - It just seems flimsey, as if the plastic pieces barely fit together. I haven't had any problems after months of toteing my track ball everywhere, but I carry it in a special compartment of my backpack and I've never dropped it. If you are hard on equipment this might not be the product for you.

            3. I've had trouble getting my Linux box to recognize the USB device, but it works with the PS/2 adapter
