This is my second cordless mouse and first cordless optical mouse. This mouse handles well, feels well, good software and no problems with other wirelss devices.

One major issue; it consumes batteries like no tomorrow. I have used all types of batteries and all brands. On an average a decent Energizer battery for electronic devices will last about 3 weeks. My only conclusion is to get use rechargeable or the battery costs will pretty high.

Seriously, what's up with that mouse stand. It seems a bit much.

The picture for this item implies that it includes the mousepad, keyboard wrist rest, and mini rest. But that is not true; you only get the mousepad.

The product looks cheap in the picture, and the actual product when it arrived matched that impression. But while getting all three for that price would be a good deal, just one is not worth it.

Well, i would sure concider buying one if they had a picture so i could see the thing. Oh well

I've had the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Blue for about 3 months now, and I have been getting very annoyed. It runs off 2 AA batteries. They only last about a month, and that seems bad, but try replacing them. If you can even manage to somehow wedge the batteries out of its compartment, you will most likely have to clean your hands off from the scrapes when trying to get it open. I recommend using a strong thin pen to pry the batteries out. Once you get them out and put new ones in, you will probably have to fidget with them for a bit to try and get the optical light back on. Another thing I have found annoying, are the glitches. Unfortunately there aren't any wireless mice out there that don't. On a lighter note, the mouse is very responsive, and although it few, minor glitches, and the fact it doesn't have the advanced web browsing buttons
that some mice have, it operates very well, especially for its price. I, personally, would recommend a rechargable Logitech mouse. Hope this helps!

Have owned the Wireless Optical Mouse Blue for a few months. This mouse replaced my Microsoft Wireless Mouse because the ball was collecting every piece of dust from the desk...and the desk is pretty clean. The Mouse is small, comfortable, not too many buttons, and no wire or ball. It does cause the pointer to jump a bit when moving at a fast rate, but this never causes me not to be able to click on what I want. The battery life is the same as many other wireless mice I have used...even though the light stays on when the computer is shut down. I plugged it in, did not install any of the software, and it has been working fine ever since. Just have to keep within range of the reciever, but it still works where I cant read what is on the monitor. My rating may be a little generous because I always found the wire on the mouse annoying, and I may be willing to put up with a little barely noticeable imperfections. Overall, I like the mouse.

I tried this mouse to see if I could avoid using my touchpad. Although it installed easily, movement was often jerky and slow. CRITICAL FOR ME: It drained my laptop battery much faster than normal. Also, if your USB port puts the receiver/dongle within sight, the blue light that flickers and flashes with every mouse movement is very distracting. With its batteries installed, this mouse is HEAVY! If total carry-around weight is an issue for you, or if you don't want your laptop battery drained, this isn't the right mouse for your ensemble. I took mine back for a refund.

But I decided to buy it anyway, since I had a friend at work who had one and was very pleased with it. The one I bought came with the cradle and I must admit that it's very useful, since you can charge the batteries when the mouse is not in use and also you can plug the receiver and keep working.
The mouse is very accurate and precise, the blue led from the receiver is nice to look at and, to tell you the truth,it doesn't bother me at all or distract me, like some people said it would.
My recomendation is: if you want a wireless pointing solution for your laptop, go for this one. It works fine and it's a lot smaller than some from other brands.
I paied 54.90€ for the whole pack and must say that I'm very happy with my purchase! Great value for money!

This new model is much better than the older unit. The greatest improvement is the on/off switch and power saving functions. The old version would only save batteries when it was left still, which never happens when it's in my bag and always ended up taking the batteries out which was a real pain.

I do not find the switch hard to use as some people have indicated. I have short nails and stubby fingers, but I have no problems with it. It's designed to not be accidentally switched off.

I use 700mAh NiMH rechargable batteries in the mouse and it's been a week now and I haven't had to change them with moderate use. I also find it comfortable to hold and pleasing to look at (important with laptops I think.)

The wheel rolls silently, but the clicking could be a little quieter since it is a laptop mouse that you may want to use in a classroom or boardroom.

The bendable usb adapter is a nice addition and I would recommend this mouse to anyone. I have used it successfully in Windows XP Pro, Gentoo Linux and FreeBSD.

I put my heart before my head on this one. It's the nicest looking mouse and keyboard you can put on your desk, plus it's got a bluetooth transceiver, what more could you want?

How about a product that works? For whatever reason the mouse and keyboard go to sleep after only 2 or 3 minutes of inactivity which would be fine if they didn't take literally 2 or 3 seconds to wake up. It is very annoying and causes problems when trying to use a (sleeping) keyboard modifier on a non-sleeping mouse.

Then the mouse eats batteries.

The bluetooth transceiver they include basically doesn't work with anything else. Certainly not any of the Pocket PC's out there.

No indicator lights on the keyboard at all - no caps, no num lock, no cool glow. There's no reason to put 2 AA batteries in a keyboard, make it 4 or 8 and give me some indicator lights. They're just little LED's.

Mouse feel is so-so and always seems to be just a little off.

Your BIOS can't see it so if you need to change settings there or if you need to change startup options for XP you need to have a wired keyboard handy.

Setup is a big pain too but you only have to do it once.

Maybe I'll buy version 2 of this but all I can recommend is to stay away from this and get Microsoft's regular wireless desktop which is a very nice product (even if the range is short).

Microsoft should be embarassed.

ive had mine for a long time and most of the time ive had it i hadent been able to get it to work, any other wireless keyboard and mouse set would probably be a better idea. on another machine the logitech wireless system worked as soon as it was pluged in, but this required many hours troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling just trying to get it to finally see that yes there is infact a keyboard and mouse present within its range. so if your into annoying things, please by all means buy it. otherwise id at least recomment a wireless set where you can charge the mouse batterys so they dont run out too quickly. i suppose that is a plus, the batterys dont run out *too* fast with the microsoft one..

I find this combo excellent once you've updated the drivers just as you need to do with all computer hardware,microsoft is very good at supporting their in-house products and this is no exception. I had the Intellimouse Explorer mouse for two years and it started having problems,I called MS and they only asked for was it's serial number and sent a new updated mouse replacement without question albeit it took a month. Bluetooth tech is still developing and needs updating,if your a computer savvy geek and want leading edge equipt like this combo,go for it..I give it for 5 stars.
