Seamless installation and smooth operation.I really like being able to plug the rechargable mouse into a USB port to recharge it. The instructions said to install the charging cord to a USB port on the back of the computer or the batteries would not recharge, but I plugged it into my powered USB hub and it charges fine. The wireless freedom is better than I anticipated. The optics didn't work well on the desk glass top so I'm still using a mouse pad.
Too bad Kensington didn't make the keyboard rechargable, but the batteries change out easily, and I'll probably use rechagable batteries later. The keys have a different feel (to say nothing about their shape), and there is no positive feedback. My keyboard resides under my desk in a pullout drawer and the best advantage for me is that now there is no cord tugging the keyboard out of place when I pull the drawer out.
Taskbar icons for the mouse and keyboard allow me to check battery status, and the mouse continues to work when being charged. Everything worked flawlessly even without any software installation, and the download from Kensington worked fine. A label on the included CD recommended going to the website for the most current drivers. Lots of driver packages to pick from, but only one is appropriate and it covers keyboard and mouse both.
One of the most pleasant computer things to happen to me in twenty years!

I wuv my cordless keyboard and mousie!I have had this on the desktop PC at home for a year and it's operated flawlessly. I couldn't be more pleased.
Totally pleased.Anyway, the cordless thing is the issue here. I set up the little box under my desk by plugging its 2 wires into the keyboard & mouse ports on the back of my computer (you can use USB for either or both if you prefer), put the batteries (supplied) into the mouse & keyboard (2 AAs each), slid the CD into my PC and with Windows XP, set-up was nearly automatic. Total installation time (including my attaching the little box with velcro to the underside of the desk) was under 10 minutes.
Accuracy is 100%. Range is more than adequate (i.e. better than your visual range). Battery life has been about 2 months for the mouse and about 4 months for the keyboard. Now, it may cost a little more, but the convenience of never having to get those 2 wires tangled anymore has really been great.

EXTREMELY pleased with my purchasePlaced my order Jan 5th, and rec'd item Jan 8th. (ETA, Jan 15th)
Basically, I was in the market for an inexpensive wireless mouse and keyboard combo, and spent 5 days extensively researching on line with numerous stores and seeking out numerous reviews. I thought I had my choice narrowed down but then realized it was NOT an optical mouse. I then came across this one, although I could not find one review (either good or bad) it basically had all the features: removeable hand rest, very conservative looking and an optical mouse! NOT to mention the price, relatively inexpensive. I am EXTEMELY happy to report that I have had this combo set for 20 days and utilize them daily, not to mention the same batteries that came with them are still alive and ticking, I have not had to replace them.
The only problem I seemed to encounter was during the initial setup (user error - lol) I couldn't synchronize the ID connections for the mouse, I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH TO CAREFULLY FOLLOW STEP 5 OF THE INSTRUCTIONS!!
If your are looking for a way to rid yourself of the wires involved and typically utilize the mouse keyboard for email, eBay, surfing the internet .......... etc ......... then by all means go for it! Unfortunetly, we have not tried any of the games with these yet, so I cannot speak intelligently on that subject - sorry.
All I know, is I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase!! Also I am actually typing this review from 5ft from the receiver as If I moved back any farther I could not see what I am typing anymore, both the mouse and keyboard are responding accurately, my eyes are not - lol
Hope this helps!

Great travelling mouseThis mouse is also visually pleasing - a sort of greyish-silver metallic color on the top surface where your palm rests, with a tasteful greyish-blue imprint of the Logitech logo, and black all around the sides. If you haven't used a notebook-sized mouse before, the size takes some getting used to, but the particular rounded design of this mouse makes it a comfortable fit in the palm. Also - I ordered this mouse on a Friday afternoon with supersaver shipping, and I received it by the following Monday afternoon! Great value for the price all around.

2 buttons and scroll wheel unlock your Mac's potentialAnother neat feature you can't see in the picture is the glowing red laser light that comes out of the bottom. Very cool! And when you move the mouse it gets brighter. Actually, the whole bottom 1/2" of the mouse is clear plastic, so the whole mouse base glows red. Pretty cool. Too bad we can't get different color lasers in there.

Finally a Mouse that doesn't get Stuck! It's Great!~ ~ Between my old beloved Macintosh, and my new PC, I must have gone through 10 Mouses (Mice?).
Each one, no matter what brand, ended up getting "stuck"- the ball inside that guides the mouse's
movement, would stop rolling smoothly. I'm willing to share some of the blame, occasionally I have
nicotine fit while working, and I know the ashes spell death to the Mouse's performance. The same problem
occurs with the sticky fingers the kids sometimes have when using the computer.
~ ~ I do a lot of amateur photo-editing. (Adobe Photoshop and less expensive, Photodeluxe are great!) This
means that having a mouse with really precise and accurate tracking is absolutely vital! I was a little
skeptical about the optical mouse, but I bought this Logitech basic optical mouse on sale.
It is wonderful. I can even notice the difference in the wonderfully precise movements when I play simple
online games like "Collapse" and "Bounce Out".
~ ~ For any work that requires precise cursor movement (Photo-editing, Illustration, fast-paced Games), this
mouse is terrific. I've had it for 2 months now. A normal mouse would have required at least 2 cleanings of
the inner ball mechanism, but the Mouse hasn't let me down yet.
I highly recommend the Logitech Optical Mouse as an inexpensive investment, which will greatly improve
the way you succeed with many of your applications. This purchase was a winner!

Update... 9 months later... It's STILL wonderful, not a single problem!!!
This A+ certified user is happy with his Logitech Mouse.I bought a used computer on ebay to add to my home network. It did not come with a mouse. So, not wanting to spend a whole lot of money, I went for this inexpensive optical mouse and ordered from Amazon, along with a KDS 17-inch monitor. I thought it would be necessary to install the included drivers to get it to work with Windows 2000 Advanced Server. However, using the USB port, the mouse immediately began to work without the need to install the drivers from the CD.
This particular computer system is in a dark part of the house. I can plainly see the red light start to glow brighter from the bottom of the unit during use. This device works on a variety of surface, so you do not need a mouse pad.
I highly recommend this Logitech mouse. It is a very good product even if you do not factor in the low price.
I will write a review of the KDS 17-inch monitor as soon as I have had a chance to evaluate it further.
great product with great price
