try this cable before upgrading your sub.
Let me start by stating that I'm no audio expert. I've just started to enter the audiophile world after working for over a year after college. And would you know it, I'm blowing my first year's salary on stereo equipment.

What really got me interested in HT system was after going to my local CC and saw Armageddon on demo. I've have seen Armageddon before, but I've have never felt it or experienced it. I knew then and there that I want that same experience when I'm watching movies at home.

After researching and a year later, I finally have everything components of my HT. The only problem was that I didn't get that movie experienced. I wasn't feeling the bass; my sofa didn't rattle, and I felt like I was just watching the movie instead of being part of it. I thought the problem was my sub, but I then decided to upgrade my wiring first to isolate the problem, and boy does it make a huge difference!

Previously, I was running regular 16-guage-speaker wire to my JBL PSW-D115 subwoofer, then from my sub to my speakers. Well, I've replaced my subwoofer's wire with Monster Home Theatre Interlink 201 Subwoofer Interconnect, and rerouted my speakers to come straight from my receiver (Pioneer VSX-27TX, great receiver by the way). I used a 6-meter length, cause I wanted to move my sub toward the back of the room. Before it reside toward the rear of my room, I've tested it in different places in the room and it still sounded great, and the best part was, I couldn't tell where the bass was coming from (if I didn't know where I've placed it). I think this is a good sign of what a subwoofer suppose to do, produced sound where you can't tell the origin. Not only are my movies and music having more crashes and bangs, but also, the sound is very clear, not boomy. I now have to turn down the volume on my sub due to the constant rattling and shaking of the house.

The cable seem well made too, cause it's heavier than what I'm used to (compare to my regular 16-gauge-wire). Since I've moved my sub around when testing it, I also pull and tug on it a lot, but the cable took it well. It stayed connected and felt solid when I was dragging it all over my living room.

If you are looking to upgrade your wiring, then put this Monster subwoofer cable on top of your list. This is one product that you can actually hear and feel the difference. Highly recommend!

Monster Proved Its Price
After reading a review, by a disgruntled Monster Cable Purchaser (here, at Amazon), I purchased a brand selling for 50% less. I got 50% less visual resolution. After rubbing my eyes red, from using the lower cost cables with MSNTV, I came to my senses and ordered the POD. Big difference. The [money] I spent on the other brand was money thrown away. A worth while alternative for older model TV's, that are still quality televisions, without a "S" video jack. MAH

Toslink? Same old, same old.... NOT
I bought my home theatre system over 6 months ago, so i would like to think i'm no stranger to dvd technology. I had my system hooked up to my PC, and figured out a way to actually bypass AC-3 dolby digital into my home theatre without any signal loss, whatsoever. so i was happy with using my dvd-rom and my home theatre system, complete with a Television set. well, i got adventurous one night and went out to buy a dvd player. figured i'll be able to use my computer AND use a dvd to watch movies at the same time (hail multitasking). So, i almost always go for the best when i actually do something. people told me NOT to buy a toslink, because it was just too... "extravagant." i BOUGHT it anyway, said i had enough of the same old copper... i hooked it up, christined my dvd player with a ritualistic playing of The Matrix, and the dynamics of my sound had just ... increased somehow. Wierd as it sounds, the signal is digital, so i didn't think there would be any difference. (digital, meaning it was raw data being fed into the decoder, so no matter how i got the data TO the decoder, as long as it got there in one piece.) Figured it out? me? not really. but i can swear by the fact that the dynamics and 5.1 signal of my hometheatre has improved by AT LEAST 10 Fold. I can tell without having to concentrate where the sound is coming from. the signal is stronger, and without any deteriation. HIGHLY Recommended. Toslink RULES. (kinda catchy, Toslink. ;P )

A great investment for any DVD player
Since jumping into the world of DVD, I haven't been too impressed with the picture quality while using the standard free-in-the-box S-Video and audio wires. After ripping those out and connecting these J2 DVD cables from Monster, my DVD player just seems more alive! The picture and sound is so much better now. Those cheap cables just don't work as good as they should, in my experience. You can literally feel the difference between those and the Monster brands if you have them side-by-side.

I had to think a while before spending $ for these cables, but now I'm glad I did. If you're really serious about picture and sound quality for your home theater, then I'd recommend this set of cables. They're really top notch in design (thick and durable), and even have a lifetime guarantee from Monster. Another fine product from this wonderful company.
