Awesome price and quality
Works greatThe book that came with my printer stated I needed a USB cable with a length of no greater than 6 foot, shielded, etc. They should tell you this before you get the printer. Fortunately, the 10 foot cable connected and worked flawlessly. I always try to buy Belkin since they generally have top quality products and good support.

Quick Install, Beautiful Photos!The printer includes six ink cartridges, software, and two different cables to connect directly to Canon cameras but not the needed USB cable to connect the printer to the computer. A nice feature is the included media adapters that will take your camera memory and plug them into the printer's PCMCIA port. My package included a Canon adapter for CompactFlash and another by Dazzle that works for four different types including SmartMedia.
The prints are simply beautiful using the sample of five sheets of included glossy paper. The colors are accurate and sharp. The 4x6 frameless prints take less than a minute to print out, 30 minutes to completely dry and they recommend 24 hours before putting them under glass or in an album.
The printer can be used without a computer connected to it using the LCD screen on the righthand side of the machine and a camera's memory card. The image adapter available for [X] connects to a port on the top of the printer to allow you to preview pictures when used to print without the computer.
Great Pictures
Great printerYou don't need the auxiliary screen to print directly from the memory card slot.
To access the cropping capabilities, yes, you need a screen or a compatible camera, but not to print from a memory card. Inserting a memory card (and I've used both CompactFlash and SmartMedia from both Canon and Olympus cameras) causes the S830D to go into a mode that activates automatic print functions on the printer control board. You can print an index sheet of thumbnail images, print all images in a wide variety of multi-print-per-page formats, selected prints using the index and vary the print media and quality from plain paper to Photo Paper Pro.
I have been very happy with both the color and the contrast produced by the printer with no computer intervention.
As for the rest of the printer's features, photo lab quality, good ink economy, fast and quiet operation.
This is the best printer I have ever owned.

Superb CRT MonitorIt IS quite heavy, but I don't mind this so much since I don't move my monitor very much, as a rule. It is also deep, but if you have the space for a 21-inch monitor, then you'll have enough space for this one.
I, too, use the 1920 x 1200 resolution, as I've been unable to find a card that supports the 2304 x 1400 res. Currently, I use an ATI Raedon 9700 Pro and am quite happy with the results. This monitor also supports inputs from two boxes, someting that may be of interest to people like me who have a small LAN but don't want the clutter of multiple monitors.
The controls on this monitor are quite easy to use. I quite agree with Scott that, although the monitor is targeted for CAD pros and such, there are many advantages for the more "casual" user: DVDs are SUPERB in widescreen mode (the monitor having a true 16 x 10 aspect ratio), desktop space is greatly enhanced; and applicatins like Adobe Photoshop and Pagemaker are greatly benefitted by the additional workspace that this monitor affords.
Web pages are no problem, either. Given browser controls, text size etc. are easily controlled, and surfing is actually more pleasurable.
In sum, don't worry about the weight or the space required of this monitor. They're not so much an issue. Just get a friend to help move it, and a sturdy table to put it on, and you'll be fine. The rewards this monitor offers more outweigh (pun intended) the physical proportions of the monitor.
Oh, if you do buy the monitor, be sure to visit the Sony site and get the .inf file.
Incredible monitor: stunning image quality and sizeI purchased the Sony GDM FW900 as part of the ultimate personal computer, which would double as a business and entertainment machine. The picture is INCREDIBLE. The picture quality is superior to anything I have seen, including the Apple 22" and NEC 21".
There is one problem, however, size. It weighs 95lbs dry and is very deep. Moreover, I have not had any luck finding a graphics board or drivers that go up to 2304 x 1440. Yet, the 1920 x 1200 is still pretty incredible.
There are two items besides size and quality, that really make this a profession piece of equipment. First, there is a nice cylindrical control panel (must see to understand) and the use of a profession five BNC video cable. The latter seems to improve image quality (not exactly sure why besides the shielding).
While the monitor is targeted to engineers and researchers, it makes an excellent piece of entertainment hardware that can be used to watch DVDs and HDTV signals.

Great Printer At A Great PriceI spent months looking and shopping around, and finally settled on the i860 after going to a store and testing the printers side-by-side. True, at the highest photo quality, a lot of these printers will look alike...but after "looking under the hood," I decided the Canon was the way to go...Here is the skinny:
"Top Ten Reasons To Buy This Printer"
(1) Great photo quality prints in a jiffy (some say like 43 seconds, but it seems faster);
(2) Quiet (it almost whispers);
(3) Good print quality on regular text/regular paper;
(4) Easy to set-up, and the documentation is excellent (took me less than 10 minutes);
(5) Fantastic software package that comes with the unit...try the "Easy Web Print" and I guarantee that you won't be disappointed;
(6) Ink tanks are separate (meaning you don't have to replace a whole 3, 4 or 5 color tank when one color runs out) and relatively inexpensive;
(7) The paper that works best with the printer is made by Canon, which is also relatively inexpensive;
(8) Their customer support is phenominal (I had one small issue that turned out to have nothing to do with the printer itself), and their support staff not only knew what they were doing, but I didn't have to hold for an hour;
(9) It's very moderately priced; and
(10) True borderless printing (no perforated paper).
"Top Six Reasons Not To Buy This Printer" (can't think of 10!)
(1) Maximum print size is 8 1/2 x 11. If you like to print posters, find another printer;
(2) No LCD screen, so the printer needs to be controlled from the computer (or Camera if you have PhotoBridge on your camera) and you cannot review pictures on the printer before you print;
(3) No USB or Parallel cable in the box (why not, I ask?);
(4) Photo quality prints do not look great on other papers besides Canon;
(5) It's really big;
(6) The 4x6 paper try is a tad bit awkward;
I hope this helps!
Excellent Value for both office and photoI got the printer mainly for office applications, and it's fast enough to do most of the printing I require on a day to day basis.
Canon was nice enough to include a 5 pack of 4x6 pro photo paper with the printer, so I decided to print a couple of pictures from my computer.
I must say I was very impressed with both the speed and the quality of the prints. I had a print in less than a minute and it looked as good as most professionally developed prints.
It does take 5 inkjet cartridges, but one is dedicated for normal black printing, which, theoretically, cuts down on the cost of printing, or at least, doesn't penalize you if you only use the printer for black text.
I made sure that compatible cartridges were available as well before I bought, because you can save a lot of money by purchasing them instead of the actual Canon cartriges. 1800inkjets.com stocks the cartridges for this printer, so I figured I would save a little. I'm not sure of any of the other online inkjet sites, but I think they might as well.
Overall, I would recommend this printer. It's quiet, extremely fast, nice looking and has done just about everything I needed it for a little better than I expected.
Professional looking pics!!!!!The camera I am currently using is the Fuji Finepix S3000. Excellent camera, that takes excellent photos. The end result used in conjuction with this printer is professional looking photos.
Beyond photo printing, regular printing is awesome too. I used cheap paper from Walmart to print out everyday stuff and it looks great. I haven't had it long enough to know how quickly the ink will go, but the ink cartridges for this are very cheap in comparison to others, plus with individual tanks, you only replace the color that is empty. Plus, there are also many different remanufactured cartridges out there for this printer, so you can get ink very cheaply.
I would recommend this printer to ANYONE I know. I really am enjoying it and am always looking for things to print!!!!

Photo quality... almostI am using it with windows 2000 (for which the setup is a little messy and none of the distributed software installs) and a Canon S100. I use ULead's PhotoExplorer 6.0 (freeware) for printing 4 pics on a 8x11.
The print depends heavily on the paper being used; with the best quality print being gained from the Canon Photo Pro paper that comes with the printer. The print is indistinguishable from a photo ! Especially if you do some software trickery of resampling the image to a higher resolution.
One noticeable problem is that the pictures are a little washed out. The Photo Optimizer setting makes the picture a little darker (puts more black) and gives the illusion of greater detail.
The printer is also very slow ! But that doesnt really bother me.
Otherwise the printer is VERY economical to run especially with Best Buy's buy 2 cartridges get 3rd free !
Improve the Ink!!!
Great PrinterThe 6 individual tanks are a great concept. When I run out of one color, just replace that color. This should save a lot of money in the long run.
The box contains a bonus card read for memory cards and a package of Canon Pro Paper. The card read works perfectly. I used it to copy my pictures from my camera to the computer (just as good as the SansDisk reader).
The speed is a little slow, but is made up for in the quality. Plus, a cable to connect to a computer is not included. Luckily, I had a spare parallel cable hanging around (not sure how much that effected the printing speed). In the mean time, I ordered an USB cable from Amazon, which should help a little.

BEST FULL-FEATURED COLOR INKJET. PERIOD.The printer flies with B&W text, e.g., while printing websites off the web browser. The setup is breezy and hassle-free. With PictBridge built in, will connect directly to your digicam for printing on paper -- no need to transfer the file to your computer, then print from Adobe Photoshop etc.
For a home printer, given that the Epson, the HP and Canon are more or less the same in picture quality, the most important thing I have realized is that I need to keep ink cartidge replacements in check. Canon blows its competition out of the water in this respect.
And that's for the maintenance costs. Even for the upfront costs, this printer is unmatched either by Epson's 2200 or HP's 7960.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a full-featured home printer.
Economical to useI like the design of the printer. You can fold the paper holder in the back forward and it will act as a dust cover to keep the inside of the printer clean. You can also close the front of the printer as an added measure to keep the inside free of dust. The i560 is a little bit more expensive than comparable printers from other brands. However, I believe that the lower cost per page will more than make up for it in the long run. There are individual ink cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not have a smart chip built into them. It might be possible, although I have not tried it, to refill the cartridges yourself if you can find the right ink. However, I think the cost of the ink cartridges for this particular printer is low enough that I would recommend buying only the genuine Canon ink, that way you can eliminate most of the problems that people experience with generic or refilled ink cartridges. I was told that a lot of problems that people have with their ink jets are due to using generic or refilled ink cartridges.

Excellent Printer!It does not come with a USB cable, so expect to purchase one. It does come with a sample pack of 5 - 4x6 Canon picture paper, so you don't even need to purchase paper first to test it out. And it does come with a cartriage of color and black ink, both need to be installed. In addition, the cost of the ink is lower than many other printers, ranging about $10 a cartriage.
The software is very nice, so far. You open up their picture printer program. Select the photo(s) you want to print, then you choose from the paper types, from 4x6 to 8-1/2x11 and then how you want the photo(s) printed, ie with/without a border. Pretty much just a three step process.
The results? OY! The pictures are really fantastic. Now I must state that the quality of the print will be based more on the quality of the picture (jpeg/gif/bmp) you are printing. For example, I took a jpeg that I had from my website. In order to use it on my website, I needed to cut the resolution down. When I printed the that picture (4x6), there was a noticable grain to the photo quality. This is not in any way the fault of the printer. When I took a similar jpeg and printed it at its original resolution, the quality was as if I got the picture from a photo store. I decided to take a high resolution jped, about 12 MB, and print it 8-1/2x11. The quality was excellent. I won't say it was perfect. Upon close inspection, ie staring right in front of it, you'll notice slight indications that it was printed, however, I couldn't guarantee that you could go to a photo store and get a better quality image reproduction. However, from just casually looking at the picture, the quality is excellent.
The speed is pretty nice, about 1 4x6 in 40 seconds. Normal print outs are obviously faster, though I haven't done much with that. One other thing to bring, the paper feeder seems very reliable. My Lexmark needed to be manually feed, one sheet at a time, to print and that was such a hassle. However, this printer has a great feeder.
Overall, this product is excellent. Remember to get a USB cable to go along with it.

An honest EBAY Power Seller ReviewI use Windows XP and had no problems installing it the first time. The best thing about this is is comes with all the software required to design the labels. The fields I use are address, return address, small product field and an auto sequence on the label. I had this up and running with no problems in 20 minutes, that means alot.
I usually process my payments and print out as I go, once I'm ready to ship I take the all the labels and fill the orders. It has really saved me time. I did look at zebra, but looked to complex and unsure if software was included. Labels are alot less expensive for the Zebra/eltron printers (.05 - .07 cents each for the shipping 2x4" for the DUMO) but the time save and real time processing is great from hand writting labels. I just cut and paste from PAYPAL Payment email and within 2 clicks I have a label.
I sell about 20-30 things a week and use this solely for that purpose. I have even thought about making some "Thank You" stickers or "Please Leave Positive Feedback" labels when I get some free time.
If you search hard you can get the Dymo 330 turbo for a few dollars more than the 330 listed hear at Amazon. I am not sure if it is faster or a marketing gimic as I have not used the regular 330. Oh well what is another $30. At the time of writing this area of Amazon does not price match. Look around.
I highly recomend this printer, for any ebay sellers and if you can use it in other areas of you life....BONUS.
A superb office toolA few cautionary notes:
1. when printing from Outlook the program only recognizes business addresses
2. the thermal printing labels you must use with this printer aren't exactly cheap
3. the template provided for use in Word reinstalls itself by modifying the default document template each time you open Word, which is annoying if you have Word set to notify you before saving the default template.
Otherwise I am completely satisfied with this printer and expect to use it for many years.
Great little machineI use Stamps.com, and it integrated beautifully with that service. It was a little tricky getting it to work with ACT! 6.0 2004. You do need to change some settings, and make sure you get every character (including the necessary spaces) correct. Once it is done, you will have a icon and can print right off ACT!. That is good because you can log your history of what you mailed. I called the technical support line, and they walked me right through it. The customer/technical support on Dymo's website is very helpful too.
As a small business owner, I need to control my costs. The supplies for this printer are not cheap, the time savings and professional results justify it. Like the previous reviewer, I recommend that you shop around. I ordered mine from Office Max (a client sent me a giftcard); it was $189 with free shipping.

Excellent with few bugs
Bulky but greatEASE OF USE IS A PLUS!
However, for printing graphics and picures it does not have very high quality in comparison to my Cannon S800, which is used soley for that purpose.
Ink cartridges are still high priced for the T45.
Good choice for most home usersThe build quality, like most HP products, is good and it has been reliable for me for. The unit is pretty quiet in operation in contrast to some older HP ink jets or some other makers machines. One plus of this unit is that the B&W cartridge is a high capacity unit which minimizes the need to switch when printing large volumes of output, plus the per page cost is probably a bit lower too. Some of the units with more sophisticated color capabilities have much smaller B&W cartridges, something to think about if you mostly print / fax / copy B&W. I'd recommend it.
This cable is great and has a lifetime warranty.
Bottomline: buy your stuff from Amazon.com, where you TRULY get the lowest price possible.
SUPPORT AMAZON.COM and get your stuff here!!
