      It works for me.
I needed to connect my old HP Laserjet 5MP to my new iMac through the USB port. I bought this cable adapter in particular because HP specified to use an IEEE 1284 compliant cable for best performance. The instructions did not mention anything about Mac OS for the system requirements but I tried it anyway. Installation was easy. All I had to do was plug it in. I didn't have to use their configuration software. I followed HP's instructions at their website about connecting to USB's. I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new laser printer.

This cartridge also works in the Canon LBP 460 Series Printers as well for those requiring that cartridge. Canon used to manufacture the cartridge for Hewlett Packard but has since discontinued is own selling of it.

        Great Multi-Purpose Laser Printer
I needed to print some color materials... high quality... went to the local copy shop and the per page cost (2 sided) was over $2.50. Knowing I needed to print a thousand copies, I decided to look for printers! This printer does an excellent job for everyday printing, business graphics, and photographs. The consumables are about $0.15/page (Xerox says $0.08/page based on 7% coverage). The management tools bult in are top notch, and the power management keeps the machine ready without consuming too much power. The LAN connection makes it a perfect addition to our wireless household network.

A Lot of Bang for the Buck!
I purchased this printer to replace a wide format inket printer that had become out-of-date. Since I am a graphic designer and need to run color proofs, I needed something very high quality (with postscript!) and was very picky when trying to decide which one to buy. I have a limited budget, so this was a major purchase for me and I had to get it right! Had to find the best printer for the money and I certainly got it with the Xerox Phaser 8400!

Before finding this one, I had purchased an HP color laser in the same price range, thinking that a color laser would certainly be the best option for me! Was I ever wrong!! What a disappointment, at least the one I bought! Extremely noisy, slow and constant paper jams. I only had it for one day (well, only part of a day!) and was completely fed up! So I sent it back and hoped I could find something better that wouldn't break the bank!

Then, a friend of mine recommended Xerox. I figured they would be too expensive, but what the heck... never hurts to look! Then lo and behold, the salesman came to my house and showed me the Phaser line of printers (as well as the more expensive color lasers). Wow -- something nice in my price range! In this brand, the Phaser and color laser printers looked pretty comparable in print (all fantastic!!), but with my budget, the solid ink Phaser seemed like the way to go. (It's about a thousand dollars cheaper than their comparable color laser, if I remember correctly. And I can think of other things to do with a thousand extra dollars!!)

I was skeptical at first, however, considering that this "solid ink system" is a newer technology. Thought I might be taking a risk, but the samples I saw from this printer were just as good (actually better!) than those of printers I had seen elsewhere at three times the price! I was absolutely blown away!!! All of their printers have terrific print quality, but since this was the cheaper one, I decided to go for it! Seemed like a bargain in comparison to everything else I had seen.... trust me, I looked everywhere! You can find many color laser printers for two to three times the money that don't even come close to the Phaser 8400's print quality! Everyone who sees my prints is always very impressed. It's the "star" of my office and just makes me look good!

The Phaser is incredibly fast, quiet and always dependable! The controls and interface are easy to use, and if you can't figure something out, you can even print out a manual from the front control panel. It couldn't be any easier! I absolutely love it and highly recommend this printer to anyone needing high-quality color printing... who wants to wait forever for inkjet prints? With this, you get things almost instantly! Great for impatient people like myself!!

And you never have to buy special paper. Because of the waxy feel of the ink, your prints are always crisp, glossy and professional, even on cheap paper. In fact, it seems to print best on just regular 20-24 lb stock, as well as card stock. The ink is quite expensive, but at least you'll save money on paper! (Keep in mind that you cannot use the photo paper that is made for inkjet printers or the special glossy color laser paper -- it will smear!) But who cares? Your prints look glossy on regular paper anyway, so you don't need anything special!

The only real downfall is that it has to stay powered on for the ink to stay melted... this results in a very warm (okay, HOT!) office, so you do need to have good ventilation or air conditioning in warm weather. But to me, that's a minor issue that I can compensate for.... it's worth it for such a quality printer. (It automatically goes to "power saver" mode after being idle for a while, though, so that does help.)

The ink seems quite expensive (about $400 to fill it with all four colors... ouch!), but when you consider how long it lasts, it's possibly cheaper than an inkjet in the long run. I've had this printer for four months and have only had to buy ink ONCE so far... with my old inkjet I was buying at least 2 new cartridges every month (at $50 each)!! So it's probably not as expensive as it seems, when you figure the cost per page. (And remember, you're saving money on paper!!)

I should also mention that the support from Xerox has been outstanding as well! They are always there to answer questions and have been happy to help with anything, large or small! True professionals that care about their customers! Everyone I dealt with was very friendly. Nice people! (Hey, good customer service is very important... seems like that's lacking in too many companies today, but not Xerox!)

So as you can tell, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Yes, it was a little expensive for someone used to an inkjet printer, but for this quality, it was definitely worth it and I have no regrets whatsoever. A great value when you consider the cost of a similar color laser printer -- anything that even comes close will cost you two to three times as much as this one! And if you compare the Phaser with everything in its OWN price range, there is just NO comparison! The Xerox Phaser 8400 just blows away the competition! It's just unbelievable! Compare them for yourself and you'll see what I mean!!

Keep in mind that if you only need something for home use or don't even print that often, this is too much printer for you.... go ahead and stick with an inkjet. But if you need a great office or graphics printer, this is it!!

To describe it in just one word, it's AWESOME!!!!!

        Z55 INKJET PRINTER

          it rocks
I bought this printer because I thought I wanted a direct printer cable and not USB. So I installed the driver (easy) and waited while the thing paused several seconds between every line. The thing was going right back to the store on the printer cable. For kicks I tried the USB cable and zoom! Boy did that make a difference! The draft printing is so good I use that as my default, switching to a finer mode for presentations, legal documents, pictures. It actually shoots out so fast I nearly need to catch them. Maybe a better out tray is in order.

I have been a Lexmark fan for many years. What really drives my purchase is ease of refills for the ink. I love to print lots for home and office and don't want to moan about expensive cartrides.

The thing no one talks about in these reviews is ease of refills. You cannot easily refill Canon or Epson cartridges. I was sad about switching to new inkjet cartridges "8" and "9" instead of 15M0120 etc but now I'm grateful to move up to the new technology with the printer costing less than two cartridge refills!! The cartridges are smaller so they can zip along printing faster. The quality is much improved. I don't print photos on photo paper so don't ask me the picky un stuff.

So Atlascopy dot com gets you a nice refill kit and anyone with a tiny bit of dexterity will refill cartidges for about $5 a shot. Every 8th or 10th refill you will replace the cartridge. Do the math. I'm cheap and I am used to filling Lexmark cartridges. Lexmark has a sponge inside and it's fast, no special hot glue or tools and you can use the cartridge right away. I liked the HP black cartridges which a ton of ink went into but you had to set the cartridge unused overnight. Yuk! Usually in the middle of printing Christmas cards. And color looked too complicated.

So despite some reviews that made me worry I was screwing up I find myself printing up a storm! Be a refill convert! You will never regret it!

Test your i850 AS SOON AS YOU BUY IT!!, 9-29-03 UPDATE
          *** UPDATE ****

In my last review, I returned the i850 for credit. Two weeks later I found a i860 WHICH IS GREAT!! I'm glad I returned the i850.

i860: I highly recommend the i860 with "ContrastPLUS": "Canon launches the next evolutionary step in digital printing with the introduction of ContrastPLUS, an advanced 5 color ink system. Offering the best of both worlds, the i860 printer delivers exceptional black text quality with a pigment-based black ink. Plus, it provides true 4 color photo printing with a photo black ink for improved image contrast and overall photo sharpness".

I had complained about image contrast and sharpness and not being able to get true RED. The i860 improved these items except I was not able to get a true RED but at least I could get an orangy-red.

ALSO, this printer comes with EASY-WEBPRINT. I have been looking for this software for YEARS !! EASY-WebPrint: "automatically analyzes and formats web pages so they will print with full color and WITHOUT TRIMMING OFF THE RIGHT-HAND MARGIN. Thank you Canon !!!

COMPARED CANON I850 and S900 PHOTO PRINTERS
I couldn't decide which printer to get. I am using a Sony DCS P9 (4MegaPixel) camera. I bought both the Canon I850 and the Canon S900. I decided to use both and whichever one I liked better, I would return the other one.
I was only using Canon Photo Paper Pro papers. I used both 4x6 and 8 1/2"x11" full size papers. The price I paid after rebate and tax on the I850 was $140 (yes, afer rebate and including all taxes) and the Canon S900 set me back about $250 dollars + tax. Both were equally easy to set up out of the box. I was comparing 3,072 nozzles on S900 to 1,600 nozzles on I850. But, the I850 also offers:

          5 and 2 pico-liter droplet size for ink...S900 is 4 pico-liter
248 RAM buffer for quicker printing compare with 80 for S900
4 colors of ink cartridges including a double size black (because it does text well, too)which is cheaper to replace than 6 cartridges on S900
Very, very quiet operation BOth were quiet but I850 was quieter
Liked the fact the I850 has a door that closes on front AND BACK...the S900 doesn't close on back to keep dust out
Smaller in size than S900...and sleeker looking in aluminum look

Bottom line...I could see a difference in certain kinds of pictures...I saw a little more purple in a flower picture printed on the S900 and more of a deep blue color on same picture printed on I850...the picture looked more blue than purple on my computer though so I don't know how good a test this was. This color shade difference may be due to the 49 graduations of color available on S900 and only 27 on the I850. But, on most printing, the sharpness seemed to be slightly better on the I850..only slightly better...details were darker on the I850, like outlines of green leaves on trees.
Would I justify the difference in price for the difference in print...ABSOLUTELY NOT. It just seems that the I850 is the newest printer technology and the S900, although only out since March 2002, will probably be replaced in the next 6 months or so with newer technology similar to the I850. Some colors on S900 came out with a different shade like bails of hay in a Halloween shot; on S900 it had a little more yellow tones than the I850 but the I850 had more detail on lines in hay and on my kids hair. Both were excellent and I took both 8 1/2x11 sheets (1 from each printer) to my local Best Buy store on a Saturday and the Canon rep working there couldn't tell the difference between the two printer's results. Bottom line is; If you need a magnafying glass to see the difference, then the I850 should be the choice. These pictures on both printers rival those that you get from local photo developing store...and you can adjust the contrast, brightness and color to your liking.
The speed when printing pictures on the I850 is fast. Again, I must stress how quiet this machine is while printing. You will almost forget it's on even when printing. The software that came with the I850 is Canon's Zoombrowser 3.5 version...the S900 came with older version. I took the pictures to show some friends and they couldn't believe I printed them at home. If you get this printer, you will not regret your purchase. Just remember, from what I've heard, that it does make a difference which photo paper you use...Canon's Photo Paper Pro is the BEST (and Canon claims pix will last 25 years on this paper). The text is quoted in Black/White as 22 ppm (WOW). Also, haven't done it yet but I've heard from other's that the I850 does awesome Black and White pictures...better than the S900. I hope this helps in your decision...by the way, it does only take about 30 seconds to do a high quality 4x6 print on this printer. An Epson of equal comparison would easily take at least 4 to 5 minutes to do the same print!!!

          Great printer!!!!!...........and still Great!
Pictures are just as good if not better than prints from photo lab. Have had no problems. Love It! amazon.com has the best price and free shipping too!

Had it for a couple of months now. Everyone I show the prints to can't believe its from my printer and they want to know what kind of printer I have. I've been using Jet Print Professional Photo Paper with real good results, maybe not quite as good as the Canon paper but still very good and much cheaper($5 for 40 8.5x11 sheets on sale). The Software that comes with the printer is very easy to use (Easy Print). From 8.5x 11 photo paper you can print a full page photo(8.5x11),or 2 half page photos(5.5x8.5),or 4 quarter page photos(4.25x5.5)or various smaller sizes. Prints borderless or border photos. Every photo on the page can be the same photo or each one can be a different photo.I use the quarter page borderless setting and 1/2 page borderless setting the most.Photos can be easily cropped right before printing. I Still love this Printer and I haven't bought any Ink yet.

Very interesting --- Another good mystery
I thought it was very good, only it was a little too complicated. I liked the usually good graphics (for Nancy Drew games) but I didn't particularly like the way you couldn't easily get around. Really well done ghost dogs, very scary. The mystery was a creepy one, and the villain was certainly unexpected. That's all I'll say. Anymore would spoil it.

            Another mystery? Yay!
Well, the awesome folks at HER Interactive have done it again. This time, Nancy Drew is snowed in at a modern-day castle in Wisconsin. She'll meet some strange people, sneak through creepy secret passages, and find beautiful trinkets and treasures ... not without the usual dangers, of course... Nancy Drew can't really avoid those. There will always be an evil villain trying to do her in. But hey, it's all in good fun. If you've played the other Nancy Drew games, this is more of the same. Most similar to "Message In A Haunted Mansion" (in my opinion), this game offers puzzles that are similar to puzzles in the first 3 games, but with one or two totally original ones. Other than a few surprises, there's nothing in here that's really superior to the other games; I'd say they are all pretty equal. Still, another Nancy Drew adventure is a good time waiting to happen. It took me about 12 hours to complete on the junior level, though the box claims it can take you 20. So... take your time, take the 20, and have fun, this game is great. Keep em coming!

One of the Best Mystery PC Interactive Games!
The Nancy Drew PC Mystery Games are fun for anyone to play! Great 3D graphics, background music and sound effects! You are the detective. It's fun to interact with the cast of characters, figure out the fun, challenging puzzles & games, gather clues, and narrow down your list of suspects. "Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake" is one of the more interactive ones. I also really enjoyed: "Secret of the Scarlet Hand", "Message in Haunted Mansion" and "Danger on Deception Island". I first played on the Junior level, but now I play at the Senior Detective level. You can save your game along the way. ...
I think younger children might need assitance here & there. Really, all of the N.D. games are great fun!
