Save your money, don't get this printer.
Don't get this printer. Yes, the printer is inexpensive. But the toner cartridges are expensive and you'll pay for it in the long run. The Lexmark website says the toner cartridge is good for 2000 sheets at 5% page coverage (at $100/cartridge, that's 5 cents/sheet). Don't believe it.

My wife gets maybe five hundred pages printed (just double-spaced typing) before parts of the page starts fading (so we're paying 20 cents/sheet). As per the Lexmark website, we've updated the driver, we've updated the firmware, we've printed cleaning pages, nothing works. Sure, we shake the toner cartridge too, but who wants to be doing that every 5 pages, especially when they advertise 2000 pages and ours starts fading at 500.

I have an old HP 4L. It's probably getting close to 10 years old now. I think I've bought just one cartridge since the original, and I've printed a lot. My wife also had an HP that the Lexmark replaced. She wishes she had her old HP back. Now there is an endorsement. I will not get a Lexmark printer ever again.

Great to Have a Laser Again
I was looking for a giveaway deal to replace my inkjet which stopped feeding paper. It's possible to find steals on inkjets, in fact it can be cheaper to replace the whole printer itself than the ink cartridge (which is where the money is made). However when I saw a great deal on the Lexmark e210 and read countless positive online reviews about it, I couldn't pass it up.

Setup was simple- it was working in less than five minutes. This is in sharp contrast to my last laser printer (a Brother), which was nearly impossible to replace the ink cartridge and ended up with ink powder everywhere. This printer is solid and attractive and compact. The print is top quality and super fast. I was thrilled to have a laser again after suffering through the slow ink jet with far inferior print quality. No, I can't print color or pictures on the laser, but I have found it to be cheaper to send my picture files out for processing than the cost of the ink/paper to do it at home (they look way better that way too), so a laser is perfect for me.

I have been warned that the replacement ink for this model is more than double that of most laser printers, so that could be a downside for someone who prints frequently. The initial cartridge is rated at 1000 sheets and the replacements are rated at 2000 sheets. I'm not concerned since I bought it for home use, but this could be a factor for others.

Great Laser printer -- especially or the price!!!!
the comments below are from a famous shopping discussion forum, not my personal opinion:
1. Very fast, nice;
2. I finally got a laser printer. It is damn fast compared to my inkjet..... Takes up less space on my desk than the inkjet;
3. it's great so far. Much faster than my poor 4ppm printer. Although I miss the LCD display that gives a bit more information than the three blinking LEDs;
4. Printed about 600+ pages so far and the toner still print out pretty good;
5. Nice print out quality. A lot faster than my HP inkjet 932c. My wife loves it. It's well worthed especially for the price.
I am using a Lexmark e312L at work and it has a major problem with multiple pages feed. Bcuz of this I was hesitated to buy the e210 model at the beginning But after reading many reviews from several sites, I decided to give it a try and I am very happy that I did

Worth the extra dollars
I use the Canon BCI-3e ink cartridges for my Canon i900 photo printer and the results are very good. I tried the more inexpensive generic inks, but noticed a decrease in quality for prints, especially photo prints. It is definitely worth the few extra dollars to use these original Canon inks, and buying the 4-packs makes sense, since any cartridge can run out at any time. The 4-pack means I'll always have a spare when I need one.

Don't be pennywise and dollar foolish!
Stick with OEM and don't experiment with generic brands; it isn't worth it. I use this product on the S500 primarily for CD labeling...lots of graphics and color. Reproduction is excellent and I get my $$$worth. When you get the pop-up window stating that the ink is low for one color, don't think it is empty. Far from it....it can go several days with the pop-up still on low until it is bone dry.

works pretty well for my canon F-80
i have a canon f-80 and i do quitea lot of printing, copying and scanning. I have always used genuine canon and these inks are pretty good and last a while. The colors etc. are great and they are not so pricey compared to other after market manufacturers.. i would say around 10-12% more. since, these cartrides are less than 10$ each, that's worth using OEM inks.

connector incompatible with PC USB port
Print quality is good. But the cables come with printer can only connect to Canon digital cameras (I tried poershot and EOS 10D), it cannot connect to PC UBS ports, though it looks like UBS connector. So, there is no way you can print a picture to cp-x00 from a PC.
Anybody there know a way to print from a PC?

Great picture quality!
I have been very pleased with this printer. So long as your resolution is set very high on your camera your pictures will be as good as lab quality!

The only downside is it does not come with a disk to run this printer with your computer or the cable needed. You have to buy it directly from Cannon. Also I have had a few pictures come out with very faint lines or dots.

I would purchase this printer again if I had to make the decision for a second time.

Excellent Quality Photos
This is an excellent little printer. The quality of the images produced is great. Just as good as traditional film developed photos. It's easy to setup & use either directly from my camcorder or via my computers(with the appropriate accessory CCK-CP200). This is my first experience with a dye sublimation printer & I can tell you the quality of the images produced far surpasses most inkjet printers. The only drawbacks about this printer is it only prints small sizes 4 x 6's & Wallet size 2 x 3's. There is a 3.5" x 5" size but its only available overseas. The paper/ink packs are not easy to find other than online & their not cheap. 36 - 4" x 6" prints will run about [money], Wallets about [money]. Overall however this is a great printer which I enjoy using.

Sony DPP-SV77 Review
If you enjoy printing photos at home from your digital camera, then the Sony Digital Photo printer is a must! I purchased this item a few days ago and have come to the conclusion that the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The PROS: (1) According to Sony, pictures will not fade or yellow for at least 100 years (ink jets do not even come close to this timeframe); (2) Beautiful pictures that rival (even beat) those developed at a photo lab; (3) Pictures will not be ruined if they accidentally get wet - they are protected by a special laminate coating process; (4) Printer was very easy to use and set-up (if you have Windows XP, make sure you download and execute the XP driver from the Sony website despite the fact that the read me file on the CD-Rom says XP drivers are included). The CONS: (1) Print speed is slow - about two minutes for a 4x6 photo; (2) The Sony 4x6 photo paper is rather pricey ...(3) The printer will only print 4x6 and 3.5x4 photos - another printer is needed for other print jobs. One more thing to mention....you can use a Compact Flash Card with this unit but you must purchase a PCMCIA card adapter ....In closing, I must say that I am extremely satisfied with this printer and do not regret this purchase!!

Finally an easy way to print digital photos
We use this printer as a standalone photo printer with our Sony digital camera and 128 meg memory stick. Well worth the investment. Photos are professional quality. Yes, the paper is expensive, about 50 cents a photo more or less. You get a new cartridge with each box of 25 photos. Printer is a little slow but it really is like having a photo lab in your house. It's the first photo printer the rest of the family can use without dragging me over to the computer. That alone makes it worth it.

The Most Outstanding 4x6 Digital Photos Ever!
The Sony Digital Photo Printer -- with its dye sublimation technology -- easily prints the most oustanding digital photos I've ever seen. The photos are borderless, waterproof and archival! And the colors are more vibrant than any ink jet photo I've ever made.

As a comparison, I also have a HP PS 100 and PS 1315, both of which make excellent 4x6 prints. But the Sony -- in terms of image quality -- easily blows them both away!

The printer uses (Sony branded) 4x6 paper (and printer ribbons) which are available from many sources, (such as Amazon.com, Best Buy and Staples). The printer uses heat to transfer the ink from the ribbon to the paper. I don't quite understand how it works. I just know that it makes fantastic photos!

The colors are so dramatic and intense, my friends and family can see the difference -- immediately -- when I show them my pictures.

The built-in fold-up monitor is also very useful in helping me to find just the image I want to print. I've been extremely happy overall with my Sony Digital Photo Printer.

For the best 4x6 photos -- bar none(!) -- this is definitely the printer to get!

Brother - Never Again
Review written for the Brother 1440 but it applies to this one as well.

I purchased 2 printers for my office of 14 people. We already have a Hewlett Packard. From day one this printer has been an absolute nuisance. It takes approximately 6 minutes for any job to reach the printer, and an additional 3 minutes for multiple pages to print. Don't even bother to attempt the manual tray. You have to manually hold the paper till the printer decides to grab it, then wait another 6 minutes for it to print.
Once there is a jam - which happens often, or any sort of disruption with the print job, you have to turn the printer off for a few minutes to clear the memory, and send it again. If not, the error light will continue to flash even after the problem (jam, replenish paper etc.) has been resolved. My staff members have all gone back to printing to the HP; and this, along with the other new printer, a Brother HL-1230, sit idly by.

Brother - never again

I just wish it could duplex!
It's amazing that such a simple and inexpensive printer can do such a good job. It's quiet, fast, and reliable. What more can you ask? I only wish it could duplex, but hey...

Great printer at a bargain price
When my 3 years old Brother Laser printer started producing smudged prints I found out the cost of replacing the drum assembly.
The Brother 1230 was selling for less than the price of that drum. I got a new printer for less than the price of its consumables - cannot beat that.

Printer itself is very reliable; Fast enough for all my needs; compact and quite.

epson 860 is wonderful
Have the printer for about 1.5 years and love it. Gives good crisp black and white copies. Prints photos as good or better than any printer I've tried with similar dpi resolution. And all with generic inks!

above average printer
I use the Epson Stylus color 800 and Stylus Photo 785 EPX and I am very pleased with both. I got the Stylus color 860 this past week to replace my 800 before it goes bad. The 860 is just awesome so very pleased with it. Only thing I find wrong with it is that it said you can use banner paper well you can't make banners it. The longest is only 22 inches and listed as panoramic. Unlike my 800 I can make banners 44 inches long. The right up on it was deceiving. I like making banners so I will continue using my 800 for that. Graphics and Photos are outstanding with the 860 so I really am not disappointed in it a bit. I may of been if I didn't still have my 800. I can do banners with my Photo 785 EPX but is more costly.

Completely satisfied
I have owned a number of ink jet printers, but the Epson 860 is by far the best. It has had few problems and the printing is sufficiently fast in both black and color. I would highly recommend that everyone get one, but unfortunately, the company no longer makes this model.

Good Product
While the general axiom is that HP sells discounted printers and jacks up the price on the resulting cartridges.

This is not the case here, it seems; The cartridges are very cheap and 1 lasts a long time.

This is an important quality for a chem major who prints LOTS of lab reports but doesn't want to have to go to the store for ink constantly.

Reliable
This makes a nice, clean print and is reasonably priced. I've been able to print around 120 or so pages from each cartridge, so I'm happy.

Roll paper is hard to use
The plus side: Very easy to install (I have windows 2000, Dell Pentium II), photo quality is very good. The flash memory card reader should be very useful for many people (I don't use it because I already have a memory stick reader).

The down side: the roll paper. This suppose to be a good feature. But it's difficult to load the roll paper. Also, after finished printing, you have to cut paper manually, and very carefully. If the edge is not cut cleanly - "at a 90 degree angle in each corner", you may have paper jam next time you print.

The Best Photo Printer yet!!
This is my first photo printer and I've bought this after doing a lot of research. My biggest concern was how can a ... printer print photos that are comparable to expensive Lab developed photos. I do not know how it is possible, but after I saw the pictures that came out of the Epson Stylus Photo 850DC, I was absolutely spellbounded! The clarity and feel of the photo's are exactly as the ones of Lab photos. All I can say is that you have to see it to believe it. From numerous reviews, I've learned that some people had trouble installing the software. Therefore, when I installed the sofware on my 500Mhz Celeron processor with windows 98, I followed step by step from the quick start guide that came with the printer. I did not face a glitch. Everything went very smooth. So I strongly recommend that you read the guide before installing the software even if you are an expert in computers. Ok here are few minor downsides of the printer: It only comes with compactflash card adapter, but my digital camera uses smartmedia. The roll photo paper tend to stay "rolled" after printing photos even if placed inside a book to flatten it. I recommend that you place the photo's in an album and keep it there. The color ink life is only 15 pages of 8x10 photo prints. However, the color ink cartridge is not that expensive (about ...). Hey, you have to loose something to get those dazzling pictures. And finally, the printer does not come with the A-B USB cable. So make sure you buy the cable (cost is about ...) when buying the printer otherwise all your exciting anticipation will diminish when you can't even use it. Overall, the printer is a little miracle that would make you home a virtual photo Lab. Get one!!!

WOW! Wonderful Printer! Epson 875DC Is A Shining Star!
I do not know why people are having trouble with USB. I am using this printer with a Pentium 150 Laptop and did not have a problem with installing the printer nor installing the software that comes with it. In fact, I have this printer running through a USB port in my docking station so any problems with USB must be the individual computer's problem and USB support may just need updated drivers. Also, my pictures have printed quickly and I just love this printer. The photos are stunning. I love the roll glossy paper, but did have some trouble getting it to feed into the computer. I found out that I just had to follow directions, put the paper in the booklet and roll backward. This flattened the paper and it fed fine. Wow, Epson has done a marvelous job with this printer. I have been non-stop printing since I bought it. BRAVO!

What's the difference?
I don't know if you've noticed, but if you search for the Epson-brand replacement color cartridge... It sells for cheaper than this generic Rhinotek! Why? I don't know! They both seem to be rated for the same paper output (around 300 pages of color, probably at %5 coverage) so which is different? Go with the Epson since (right now 9/28/00) it's cheaper.. save a few cents. =) go figure...

Revised opinion
I had previously reviewed this product and was very unhappy with the cartridge. However, since then I have not had any problems and I am have also installed a second Rhinotek as a replacement and it works fine. I am not sure why I was having problems with the first cartridge, but the problems seemed to resolve themselves and the new cartidge is problem free. Colors are great and no difference in performance than the... Epson products. Had I not had some of type of problem I would now rate this product at 5 stars. I am reserving that extra star to see how their cartridge performs over time. Right now I am very satisfied with it and I would reccommend it - ....

Very good product.
I am using this product on an Epson printer and the quality of the prints are excellent.
