Great printer, ink supplies will nearly bankrupt youPros:
Good print quality
Cheap price
Cons:
You are better off buying another brand of printer than feeding the overpriced Lexmark cartridges to this printer.
Low price, good quality, easy setupThe construction is reasonably robust -- not too plasticky. The footprint is about 18" by 9" with the feed racks pulled in, but realistically you need about 18" wide by at least 10-12" deep -- the front rack, which gathers the paper, can stick off the table OK. The footprint is 18" by 18" with both racks pulled out. The cartridges snapped in perfectly; everything worked fine immediately. The paper feed is not finicky at all and aligned the paper perfectly.
The only criticism I have is simply that this is an inkjet and so without special paper (and even with) it's just not as precise as a laser. I printed out a couple of text pages: the text looked solid and black until I got up fairly close. There was just a tiny hint of fuzz on the diagonals, when I squinted, and a magnifying glass confirmed what I thought I saw -- the line is a little blurry.
The colour is strong and clear, and as precise as the black.
A couple of other points to note: the installation process will make this your default printer. That may well be what you want (it wasn't, for me), but if not then don't forget to go back and reset the system default via Start -> Printers. And secondly, note that Amazon also sells this with a USB cable for just one more dollar; this model doesn't have the cable, so get the other one if you don't have a cable to hand. Search for Z705 if you can't find the other one.
This is a great inkjet printer; for the price, this is as good as you're going to get.

Good until it starts going bad.... and then it's really bad
Laser quality printer, small enough to carry.
bang for bucks, long term tooa good printer. The toner only costs about
$..., as opposed to the typical $... range
of other toner cartridges, so it's a long-term
investment as well as a short term one.

The best little printer
Excellent Robust Portable PrinterThermal printouts are used all the time as TRANSITORY computer output on paper, such as ATMs, gas station receipts etc., to give users a copy of output. I've used 2 thermal printers since 1984, and these printers have outlived their CPUs.
I use the printer as general output on a boat or a plane, often in transit to remote locations, exposed to high humidity and at times printing from within a ziplock bag. The IR signal penetrates the bag nicely, and allows printing in a water resistant container. Thermal paper doesn't run when wet, and when cold laminated, allows one to take printouts diving ... were water temps rarely exceed 90F.
Competing ink jet printers, while capable of A4 size sheets, can have comparably illegible fonts, higher cost and maintenance and print horribly under humid conditions. A4 paper is more inconvenient to carry.
The Sipix is very similar to a thermal printer engine released by Alps in 1998...
A full spec sheet is availableonline...
It has a rated life of 50 million print impressions and paper advance mechanism life of 20km. That's roughly 17,000 prints or 72,000 sheets advanced of A4 paper. Using A6 paper, that's substantially more sheets.
Rolled Paper is Superior to Sheet Paper. Printouts rarely use the full length of a single A6 sheet, thus the unprinted area is wasted. In long printouts, type will span several pages, and sheet paper will be wasted on unprinted margins.
What is wrong with the Sipix is the cost, its not worth [the price]. ....
The Sipix thicker thermal paper maybe less prone to curl, but it still does, and its not suitable for rolls. Roll paper are torn are various lengths. The Sipix paper is too strong and does not tear cleanly. Sipix paper is too expensive, even if heavily discounted... You can buy bulk A6 wide paper of over 76 feet per roll, of thinner grade paper for [$] for 25 rolls, and simply cut 8' rolls for convenience. ...
Print MS Word Documents From Your Palm -- AnywhereThe Sipix Pocket Printer A6 -- along with the Docs to Print and IR Print software programs (both available from doctoprint.irprint.com as either a free trial or to purchase) -- fit the bill quite nicely.
The Sipix A6 printer is just a little bit larger than the Palm itself. It runs on AA batteries and receives its info from the Palm via infrared (IR), which makes it totally cordless. The Sipix also uses thermal imaging, which eliminates the need for ribbons or ink jet cartridges, which is convenient; but it does require the use of specially coated A6 size thermal paper, also available from Sipix (and Amazon) in either rolls or sheets. (I use the latter -- and carry a little stapler with me -- since it lays flatter and looks much neater.)
The basic Sipix A6 software (also from IR Print) that comes with the unit, only allows one to print entries from the Palm Calendar, To Do, Memo and Address functions, which in itself, is only mildly useful.
To do more, here's what you'll need to install on your Palm:
Docs To Go (DataViz) + Docs to Print + IR Print*
* The more enhanced version of IR Print available from their website.
Once all three of these are installed, you'll be able to print Word documents, not only to the Sipix A6, but also to all of the IR capable models from HP (such as the DeskJet 990 series) and from Canon (including the BJC line of portable ink jet printers), which is really cool!
Being thermal, the print quality of the Sipix unit is, unfortunately, rather crude; and the speed is rather slow (especially when compared to regular laser and ink jet printers). But the Sipix is still the smallest portable printer available today for my Palm. And I carry it -- along with a slim box of A6 paper -- everywhere with me in my briefcase.
I use the Sipix to print rough drafts of my work (including product reviews such as this one), which is wonderful, since perusing a printed copy -- especially with multiple pages -- is still easier than scrolling up-and-down a miniature screen.
The Sipix printer, as a watch-out, does have a tendency to drain four AA alkalines rather quickly. As a remedy, I've switched to the new AA size Energizer photo-lithium batteries, which cost a little more, but last many times longer.
With my Sipix A6 printer, I can now print Word files directly from my Palm -- whenever and wherever I need it -- which is truly a dream come true!

Complete and Utter Nightmare
Simple set-up for my home network - PC, Mac, and LinuxThe instructions were very clear, and the printer worked properly for all of our setups. The print quality (when econo-mode is turned off) is fantastic, and in general, we're very pleased with the printer.
If your network has static IP addresses, or some other way of set-up than DHCP, it may be harder to configure the printer than it was for me (the other post I see here indicates that this is apparently something to be somewhat concerned about).
I love the printer and recommend it for a multiple-platform environment where you need high-quality black and white printing over a network at a reasonable cost.
Excellent Printer! This is by-far my favorite one. For one, it's a laser printer which produces, clean, crisp, non-smudged, black and white prints. And, two, it never jams. I've had this printer for 18 months and it's worked flawlessly.
I used to be a "bubble-jet" consumer. But now, I've made the jump to laser and I'm glad I did. The prints are just much more consistent. It's not noisy like the HP900 (bubble-jet) was. That one was slow and loud (shook from side to side when it printed). This one warms up with a humming sound and then prints out nice clean letters. You can adjust the print quality if you like too, but that also means that you will need to replace the cartridge sooner. I've only had ONE cartridge so far, and it's about due to be replaced. I print out about 150-200 pages per month. So, it's not like I run a "print shop" or anything. But considering that I've had this for over 18 months and not one jam, that's saying something. I'm quite happy with this printer.

Very disappointing!1. Lack of Customer Support. Sony is notorious for bad support. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried getting support via email, chat and phone and did not get any help.
2. Picture Quality. While the pictures are sharp, the colors are really off. When I have tried printing several pictures, they come out with a yellow tint. These same pictures were sent to an online printer and came back okay.
3. LCD Screen. Even though Sony makes the screen really easy to use, it does not always reflect the exact way a picture comes out. I found myself wasting a lot of paper because the picture on the screen looked good but then printed out too yellow, etc.
4. Documentation. The documentation they include with the printer is very poor.
I received this printer for Christmas and I am definitely thinking about bringing it back. It is definitely not the quality I expected from Sony.

Excellent value for the priceIt took about 10 minutes to install with no problems. The print quality and speed of black text is superb, hard to distinguish between laser print outs. I was initially dissapointed with the colour prints. At 1200 x 1200 I expected perfection but found I had noticible lines across the page. After reading the help page I opened the Xerox print manager and ran the cartridge alignment test. Print quality was vastly improved and I am very happy with the results. It is a little slow when printing in high quality colour, but you can't rush art!

A Great printer.......
A versatile printer that meets all my needs.I found the C11 very easy to set up and was printing 15 minutes after removing it from the box.
After using the C11 for several months I have found to be reliable and a piece of equipment I can count on.
