A very versatile Multifunction Machine
You can print and fax and copy all at the same time. Extremely versatile. Ink cartridges are ecconomical each color and black have seperate cartridges.

Great Multi-Function for the Price
It slices, dices and even purees. I have owned this machine for 6 months now and am very happy with it. It's easy to use, prints very well and cartridges are easy to install. I haven't had a paper jam yet despite some fairly intense printing.

Wonderful printer, copier, scanner and fax!
No problems at all even after more than two years of heavy use. No paper jams, copies are clear and crisp. Great machine!

Don't even think about networking it
The positive: I wanted an "industrial strength" printer/copier/fax for my home which has a PC network and some heavy users. As a STANDALONE, or attached to ONE PC, this is every bit the product advertised.

HOWEVER, the Canon IC D680 is not compatible with the print servers that come built into home networking hardware. You have to buy another $170 proprietary print server from Axis. I did, and regret it. The Canon/Axis combo is HIGHLY UNSTABLE on my network, especially when interfacing with Windows XP PCs. It usually works for a few documents and then fails. Failure requires a server reset, and often a complete DRIVER REINSTALL on the offending PC (2 CDs and 2 reboots!). It's a nightmare, and Canon tech support (which isn't available nights or weekends) has no idea what's wrong. I've been back and forth with them half a dozen times, including several multi-hour calls, and 2 months into ownership can't get it working.

Don't go here, it's miserable.

great so far
I have only owned this a very short while but I love it so far, makes business alot easier and is a very quiet running machine.
If you are running a small business, you cannot go wrong with this.

Wow, what a machine!
Canon did a beautiful job making this unit and it's especially nice to be able to consolidate my printer, fax machine and copier all into one unit. There's a lot less clutter in my home office now where space is at a premium.

I've had 2 Canon copiers prior to this D680 and have been impressed with their reliability. In this unit you have the drum and toner in one cartridge which is really nice. Additionally the fax is F A S T.

The only thing I would change if I were Canon would be to incorporate a 'scanner' in it so I could get rid of one more component on my desk.

Update 2/23/03:
I've had this unit for a couple of months now and am still impressed with it. I have no regrets about buying it. It's a great machine at a very reasonable price.

Canon D661
Ipurchased this copier March 2003, and have benn frustrated by the paper jamming consistently in the machine. I have been using Xerox 20 Lb paper and cannot print more than 50 copies without the machine jamming.I would not suggest this product for anyone that wanrs a reliable copier. It is extremelely frustating to keep puuling out the jammed pages and restart again.I print only 200 to 300 copies a month. The white pages I use are Georgia-Pacific Multi System Paper.

The winner is... the Canon
I reasearch things for a living and I have to tell you, the information available for these multifunctions is weak and misleading. So, I thought after my purchase I would chime in.

At first glance, the HP 3300/3330 series seems to give you the most bang for your buck -- (1200x1200 dpi vs. the Canon 600x600), sort of good looking, includes a scanner, etc... But it wasn't intil I got my hands on them and compared them side by side that a clear winner was revealed.

The Canon is far superior -- period. The Sharp and Brother versions may be fine machines, but there was no way to tell, as I had trouble either finding them or working them in the store (not a good sign). The HP version is noisy, and the feeder created a crooked copy everytime. Also, I was scared off by tales of poor software and margin issues. What put me over the edge was the ... ONE YEAR warranty.

The Canon was much more solid, much higher in quality, and much, much, more quiet. The text this fella prints is top notch. Also, it comes with a THREE year warranty and the first year is ONSITE! Also, the toner is the L50 cartidge -- Expensive, but is good (they say) for 5000 copies and has the drum/developer/toner in one unit. Basically the parts that have trouble are in the replaceable toner cartridge.

The bad news: You'll need to buy a printer cable if you don't have one. And the only other drawback is that there is no on/off button, only an energy saver mode that is like a "sleep" -- to solve this problem I am putting mine on a power strip that I can turn off.

Ultimately, get your hands on one and I am sure you will agree Canon beats HP.

Full XP compatibility in a flash!
Make sure you have USB 2.0 interface; the "old" 1.4 from six months ago can't handle it. Setup is a breeze, even for XP-os (the printed instructions are so good that they tell you the error message Windows will give you in advance, and give you the simple cure in the next sentence!) Absolutely crisp copying and printing (b&w only)that will have you kicking yourself for putting up with that old inkjet for so long--just let the old splatter painter do your color jobs, and never refill another ink cartridge again.

Good for the price.
This is good for the extremely cheap price. However, I wouldn't reccomend it for those of you looking for a very reliable one, though.

hp deskjet 842c
I actually got mine new not refurbished. Have printed photos I took with my Canon A70 and from my greeting card software.
Have gotten many compliments on the photos.
Suggest buying Hp paper or other name brand instead of a value brand.

Great product for the money
Doesn't work well with shiny paper photos, other than that, I've been using it for over three years and no complaints!
It has never given me any trouble what so ever. It's well worth your money.

VERY UPSET WITH HP
I was first time buyer of this package deal, camera and printer. Was so happy when i got it home till i went to hook it up and OMG THE SERVICE I received from HP was so bad I will never purchase another product from them. IT JUST WAS NOT WORTH THE HASSEL THEY GAVE ME. AND THE RUDENESS TO A CUSTOMER.AND THEN LIE TO BOOT. OMG

great package for the money
Just bought this package and have been extremely surprised. I had been looking at digital cameras and just recently my printer went south. If you buy the camera alone it is 7/8's the total package price.Printer set up well and seems easy to use. No problems but don't really expect photo quality. Camera is great too for my purposes. Software quite simple. I recomend you also get the optional black printing cartridge and definately ugrade to a larger flash card like a 32 or 64mb. All in all I was not expecting a ... top notch printer [and camera] so I am very pleased. A real value. Only thing I don't like is HP sells the A/C adapter for [aditional money]. This is really necessary if uploading alot. And don't expect the batteries to last as long as the one in the TV remote.

Great combo package!
I bought this package about 2 weeks ago and have been very glad that I did. I was looking for my first digital camera but did not want a 1.3 megapixel camera to start with. The image quality is quite good with great color and sharpness. I'd have spent double of what I did buying the printer and camera separately. It is a really sweet deal considering that I was only after the camera. What's more is that both are fully compatible with Mac OS X and iPhoto. I highly recommend this package looking for an entry level digicam and a good quality printer!

Good for student budgets!
Not quite as good as using the laser printer, but ink jets never are. A slight order when wet - goes away when dry.

A good value!

Budget version, budget performance
Works, but not as crisp and not odorless.

GREAT INK FOR THE PRICE!!!
Don't spend your precious money on expensive Epson Ink when you could just buy this Nectron stuff, it's a lot cheaper and is pretty much the same thing.

this is not the cable for Cannon Burble
this is not the cable for Cannon Burble. According to the product information, it's not for IEEE-1284 printer like Burble (also USB compatible). By the way, I haven't tried this cable... The information is just according to Tech data of the products.

    Nice cable, great price
This is just a standard printer cable. For the ... price I couldn't pass it up. It came right away and I hooked up my LaserJet 4Plus and it works perfectly. Thanks Amazon.

Vibrant Color for Your Brother MFC Unit
The "Brother LC02C Ink Jet Cartridge (Cyan)" is one of the necessary accessories you'll need if you purchased one of Brother's 7100 series MFC's. Rich in color, the ink cartride gives you a good buy for your money. If you a person who doesn't use your MFC on a daily basis, then the cartridge will last you for a long time. However, if you're a person who constantly uses, then the cartridge;s supply won't last too long. That is the only negative thing about this product.

Besides one minor fault, Brother's MFC/Fax accessories are one of the market's best buys in quality and performace. I recommend purchasing a few of these cartridges whenever your purchase them online so that you can have some on reserve just in case your cartridge runs out of ink.

Great cartridge to a great printer
The separate cartridges in these printers are a great idea. I used to hate throwing out the whole color cartridge in the other printer I had.

However, since each of these cartridges run out all at different times, if you use this printer a lot the warning light that a cartridge is almost running out of ink seems to be on continuously, as each time it is a different one.

Xerox is a poor choice for printers
Previously, I had always purchased and utilized HP printers and had been very pleased with the performace and value based on initial purchase price and cost of replacement cartridges. But when it came time to purchase a new printer I decided to review comparable printers available from other manufacturers and became interested in the Xerox P8ex due to it's features, additional memory, price and the Xerox name. To be fair, set up was basically a "no-brainer" and I have no complaints regarding the quality of the printing, but these 2 'qualities' are not adequate reasons to purchase this printer. First, it's much "noisier", than other printers, it jams frequently, and it runs out of memory frequently despite the additional 2mb of memory than comparable printers. Based on the above you might think "fine", it still sounds like a decent printer for the price. However, let me assure you that when you need to purchase that 1st refill cartridge, you'll regret this purchase decision to the extent that like me, you'll start looking for a new printer to replace it! First, good luck trying to locate the replacement cartridges for this P8ex model at your usual retail and/or online stores, even your favorite superstores! Be aware, the P8 model requires a different cartridge than the P8ex. I've spent hours on line searching for replacement cartridges after being unable to locate at my usual office supply stores. As if this wasn't disturbing enough, believe me when I state that once I located them at a few online stores I was horrified! I have found the replacement cartridges to range from $115-$145 each! And that doesn't include shipping if purchased online! Maybe you can find a way to justify the price, but I can't. Especially when I became aware during my search that Xerox manufactures replacement laser cartridges for most every model of HP printer and they're only HALF the price of the replacements for their own printers (at least the P8ex)! So, here I am with a new Xerox printer and the realization that it would be cheaper in the long run to replace it with a NEW printer, than to continue to buy new replacement cartridges for the printer I already OWN! In fact, considering the cost of the refill cartridges, the actual printer is MORE DISPOSABLE than the cartridges! And NO, you won't be able to find the refill cartridges at the typical "refurb cartridge" site or find a "no-name" generic replacement either, I've tried. So, I'm in the market for a new printer, an HP. My only question is whether I'll take advantage of purchasing the Xerox manufactured replacement cartridges for my new HP printer since they're such a steal for the price! But I doubt it, since why would I want to support a company that provides a product for the owners of another manufacturer's printer at a reasonable price, while their customers are bleeding money to purchase replacement cartridges to enable them to use their Xerox printer? HEAR THIS XEROX: this isn't only poor customer service/business...I would consider it EXTORTION! Anyone want a P8ex printer?

Think Twice Before Purchasing a Xerox Printer
I Recently purchased a new computer with Windows ME. When I tried to download the correct driver for my 18 month old Docuprint P8, I found that Xerox has yet to release drivers for Windows ME. I'm sure the P8ex is a fine printer (I have no complaints with the performanceof my P8), just don't expect Xerox to support their product. Best of luck to anyone who purchases this when Windows XP comes out this fall.

    Xerox DocuPrint P8ex
This is a great printer. I bought a cheaper laser printer and had nothing but problems with it. This printer is the best one I have tried yet. I would recommend that everyone buy one. It is definately worth the extra money.
