not very good
This is not a very useful product, but if you absolutely need it I would recomend you buy it. If you don't need it don't buy it. Well that's all i have to say.

Works fine
I have to disagree with the person who wrote that this is not a very useful product. If you own a Sony photo printer, this is an absolute necessity since this is the paper you need to print photos. I'm very happy with my Sony photo printer *and* with all of the cartridges that I have purchased and used.

Sony 4x6 photo paper & cartridge
This paper is required for your sony printer UP10 which works great compared to the other higher priced printers. The paper will not fade or color will not run.So far this is the best paper for this printer. I have taken my camera, laptop and printer on vacation and the pictures which I have taken were clear, vivid colors and just gorgous snapshots. Everyone who saw my pictures could not believe how professional the prints came out. This is the best printer/paper I have ever purchased. I presently own 3 photo printers.

Significant paper handling flaw
After much research, product samples, reading many reviews and correspondence with Xerox support staff, I decided to purchase the Xerox Phaser 6250 to use for printing greeting cards, postcards, business cards and similar items requiring a heavy card stock of 160 gsm or greater (approximately 65 lb. cover stock or greater). Xerox rates the capacity of the Phaser 6250 at 216 gsm (approximately 80 lb. cover stock). Unfortunately, after using this product, I learned from actual use, and had this confirmed by Xerox technical staff, that using "any paper that is 160 gsm or heavier may cause severe curling of the paper. We recommend changing the paper to a lighter paper-weight". I cannot over-emphasize the severity of the paper curling. This renders the product useless for printing items such as business cards, greeting cards, postcards and some of the other in-house printing jobs for which one would purchase this product.

This is a significant flaw which Xerox confirms. Do not purchase this product if it is to be used to print on heavy-weight card stock.

EXCELLENT
I bought this printer 1 week ago and the printout is beautiful.
Before I bought the Xerox 6250N, I checked Lemark, HP, Okidata and many other brands, but I found Xerox gave you the best bang for your money. I paid $2069 and got free shipping, Xerox have a $300 rebate, so basically the 6250N only cost $1769. What a great deal.

Man, this rocks in my Panther 10.3.3 Mac office
A few months ago, I got tired of USB color inkjet printers. I was starting to need 100-200 color flyers at a time, maybe 1000 sheets a month, and the USBs were sinking under those kinds of demands. So, I started looking around for my first color laser printer.

Not so easy, given that they world of color laser jets is rapidly changing. Unlike inkjets, where "they're all the same", companies like Xerox, HP, and Canon are wanting to capture the growing market of home-owned CLJs, and are each experimenting with new technologies, ranging from solid wax ink, to new internal engines, etc. It's not an easy choice to navigate.

I basically searched the Net for customer reviews, using Amazon and the other places where end users post their likes and rants. In the end, it was a flip of the coin that made me choose the Xerox Phaser 6250N. I was able to get an open box from some company in Colorado, and paid just under two thousand.

I've now had the 6250N for a full month of usage. I've printed over 1500 copies. Some thoughts:

** The thing rocks. You know those pieces of technology you own that make you want to clap each time you use them? This is how it is with this guy.

** 26 pages per minute. I've timed it. I've actually had friends come over to just watch it churn out that many pages in a minute. This is with ANY page I throw at it, be it strictly text, or a full color flyer that doesn't have a speck of white paper left on it. No more waiting.

** I was afraid of two things: the noise and the smell. Smell: none. Can't smell a thing, and I have a dog's nose regarding anything chemical (I can smell from 4 feet away if a women is using chemical-laden perfumes, vs essential oil). Noise: during printing, it's not bad, it's actually kind of a pleasant noise, churning out each sheet. For awhile after each job, though, it makes an unpleasant ennnngggghhhh noise. Eventually, it turns itself off (10 to 30 minutes), but I haven't figured out how to get it to sleep quicker. I almost think there's some kind of internal heat sensor, just like a Mac: if it's hot, it turns on the ennngggh fan. If it's cool, it goes quiet. My only fix is to walk over and turn it off.

** It's big, not as small or lightweight as the old USB inkjets. It's 25" long, by 17x17". It's also heavy, probably 75 pounds. Not a big deal, but it's a shock the first time you pull it out of the box. No more tucking the thing under a desk.

** It holds 650 sheets. This means you can put an entire ream of paper in it. Holy moly, why didn't someone else think of this before? No more guessing how much it'll hold. Just grab a ream and stuff it in there.

** The ink system is a sight to behold. Located right there on top, under an opaque plastic cover, four round cylinders sit locked in with a 1/4 twist. Once they're empty, you twist in the opposite direction, lift it out, pop in a new cylinder, give it the 1/4 twist, and THAT's IT. No opening a door, no guessing whether you did it right, etc. It's one of the features that get an audible wow from friends. (side note: I have two friends who are really close to dumping their USBs and getting this thing, just by watching it work).

** Ethernet cable connection!!! Ahh, man. I think I would buy this for no other reason than to dump one more USB connection. For a mouse, fine, but my experience with USB is that it's really not that great, at least for the amt of data that a printer needs. When I click a "PRINT" button, I hear the 6250 wind up well under 1 second. That's amazing to me. Even on pretty large posters and flyers (with heavy graphics), the first flyer starts printing within 5-10 seconds. If it's straight text, it'll start printing within 3 seconds. 26 pages per minute.

** Speaking of Ethernet cable: wireless printing, from anywhere in the house. This has been a godsend to my wife, who used to always bug me about printing files from her iBook. Last night, she printed 20 flyers from the kitchen, wirelessly to the 6250 about 60 feet away. Is this a great time to be alive or what.

** About once every 3 days or 20 print jobs, the 6250N doesn't see my print job. I have yet to figure out what the deal is, but I use the idiot's version of tech knowledge: I power down and power up the printer. So far, that always fixes the problem. This may not be a printer thing, but an End User Thing. I may be doing something wrong.

** I haven't figure out how to get it to stop printing its internal Welcome/Startup page every time I turn the printer back on. Not a big deal, but who needs to waste paper and ink. Perhaps its a setting I can turn off.

** Ink prices: the first time you buy a set of 4 high capacity ink cylinders and fork out $650, you have to remind yourself of the "price-per-page" thing. Otherwise, it's a shock. In the Xerox Phaser's case, high capacity says 8,000 pages. Given that that is probably not an accurate number, I'm guessing more like 4,000 pages. That turns out to be about 16ยข a page. That's a number that I can live with.

** Software works seamlessly with Panther 10.3.3.

To wrap this up: I love this thing. I can't say enough good about it. After dealing with inkjets for 8 years, I am glad I bit the Visa bullet and spent the dough.

DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER
The fax picks up the line while you're talking on the phone randomly. I did use the fax line periodically for calls but can't anymore because of this 'feature'.

AND THE WORST PART!

XEROX STILL HASN'T RELEASED WINDOWS 2000 DRIVERS MONTHS AFTER IT WAS AVAILALBE!

Great Product, I love mine
Great. I love mine. Make sure you have enough space for it. (It is not a "bookshelf printer") It works great. If you have questions, I would be happy to help you. My e-mail is Jobin@WheelerJobin.com.

Great all-in-one printer
I've had this printer for 4 months now and I really like it. It does everything that I need and it's easy to use.

This most important factor for me was the ability to share it on the network. Most HP all-in-one printer's don't allow you to share it on the network. Xerox states that they don't "support" network sharing, but that give detailed instructions on how to do it (They just don't want people to call tech support for it).

It turns out that sharing a workcentre 385 is just like any other printer (very easy). Not so for HP's all-in-one printers. Their special driver that doesn't have sharing capabilities.

I fully recommend this printer.

Does not support 19" or larger CRTs
Do not be fooled when the description says this stand holds up to 21" monitors - that is only true for *flat-panel* monitors, not traditional CRT monitors. Note that the weight rating says 50 pounds! Most standard 19" monitors weigh 60 pounds or more. I purchased this item at a Staples near me, and brought it home to use with my 19" CRT. After placing the monitor on the stand, the stand bobbed up and down and seemed as if it would completely bend at any moment.

Attractive and functional
If you own a laptop and use an external LCD monitor or you are just looking to sneak some small peripherals or desk accessories beneath your monitor or an inkjet printer, look no further. The MetalArt Jr. is a classy alternative to molded plastic stands intended for beafier CRT monitors. I ordered the product to use as a stand for a 17" LCD monitor. Not only does it raise the monitor to the ideal height, but it is spaced perfectly to store my IBM T40 laptop and docking station neatly beneath. The perforated metal at the top of the stand allows air to flow freely and keeps both the laptop and monitor cool.

The description doesn't give the dimensions of the stand, which are very important since its size is not traditional, so I'll list them here (from the manufacturer): 11" x 15" x 4.5".

Almost really satisfied
I have been giving Brother products a try lately. They offer a number of features at a relatively affordable price. I purchased the HL 1270N because of the affordability of toner and drum, the USB port and its built-in network interface card. Installation went fairly smooth. I found myself at the Brother website downloading Windows 2000 drivers which is no big problem. My hope was to configure the printer as a server through its NIC on my network. After three aborted attempts I attached it to a client using the USB port and went back to work. I haven't had a chance to get back to Brother customer service to try to set it up properly. I have been almost satisfied with all of the Brother products that I have purchased recently. My dissatisfaction could stem from our choice of the Windows 2000 operating system, but Brother should fully support Windows 2000. If you are not using Windows 2000 you stand a good chance of being a satisfied customer.

Excellent feature set, not very robust
This printer has the best feature set of any sub-$500 laser printer. It comes standard with 4 Mb RAM and PostScript 2 emulation, 1200x600 dpi resolution (not interpolated), USB and Parallel ports, and a built-in 10/100base-T network card that supports AppleTalk. To get these features on an HP printer you would have to spend twice as much.

But with an HP printer you would get a much more reliable and robust design. When we put one of these printers into service it printed one page then had a hardware failure. Brother sent a replacement within 2 days, which worked fine. Then we had a catastrophic paper jam which required a service call.

All-in-all, I would recommend this printer to anyone who is savvy enough to know that they need the features, since they would also be savvy enough to deal with any problems that might come up.

No cable, otherwise a good printer
This is my first laser printer. It works fine at least the very first several days when I use it. It prints fast and clear. The only thing I am unhappy with is that it comes with no cable (no USB or parellel connection cable). I have to disconnect my scanner to use its USB cable (they are compatible A-B USB cable). I think I have to buy the cable separately, which would cost me at least $10.
I am not sure whether other printers have the same problem. But this really makes me disappointed.

Good enough, but not perfect
I bought this laser printer for light home use. I don't need color much and don't want to pay the high ink costs of inkjet printers. The HL-1440 does print VERY CLEARLY and quickly without much noise. This printer is best for text not graphics, as are most laser printers. Installation was very simple.

The printer is very good but has some small problems. 1) The driver is basic and a little glitchy. It sometimes resizes the margins established in MS Word and other documents. I sometimes need to adjust the margins in the driver itself. Can't get the "fit to page" setting to work. But I am always able to print documents correctly after adjustments. 2) Tech support is minimal. Web support is weak. Phone support is difficult to reach. 3) The paper tray is exposed in the rear. This design allows dust to settle on the blank pages. 4) Takes a lot of power when warming-up. Would be best to run it on a different electrical circuit than your PC. 5) Refurbished drum and toner have only 90% life of new. I purchased the refurbished model. Unfortunately the included drum and toner were refurbished also. 6) Needs more memory. The included 2Mb is not enough for maximum resolution. Fortunately additional memory is cheap to buy. I found 32MB on the web for $11 delivered.

Overall, I am happy with the printer. Just disappointed with the small issues because the printer could have been perfect.

Blue Cast to Prints
I wrote a review on this paper and liked it very much. On more detailed side by side comparison with Canon Glossy Paper, the Burlington paper has a blue cast to the images. It is OK for casual printing but I would stay with my printer's brand paper for more critical work. The printer options are more precisely balanced for their paper type.

Good paper at a great price !!
I use a Canon photo printer and based upon all of the reviews that I have read it is generally suggested that you stick with the same brand of photo paper as your printer. As an experiment and because of the low price I decided to try the Burlington Glossy Photo Paper. The appropriate paper settings are included in the box for your brand of printer. I followed them and found that I got prints that were as good as on the Canon Glossy paper. The paper is a little on the thin side but about the same as the Canon Glossy paper. Canon Glossy Plus and Pro paper are thicker. As an everyday paper I was really happy and surprised with the results of this paper.

NOT for graphics!
I bought this laser because it had good reviews. I wanted to use it to "proof" black and white photos before sending them to the printing press. All images output from the ML-2151N have horizontal banding (faint lines) across them. I called Samsung tech-support and was told "that's just the way the printer is" "you'll have to take it back" when I asked what printer would work for me he recommended a color laser. Text is fast and great. Also use the double sided printing.

Price versus features
At the under $600.00 range, this is an unbeatable 21 ppm network printer. Contrary to the previous review the manual does tell you how to setup networking on the printer via the control panel. It also explains how to setup clients to print to it. My problem with the manual is that it isn't clearly layed out and the instructions I refer to are located in three sperate sections many pages apart. It's a long read at 233 pages too. Other than that, this is an amazing product for the price. I had mine up and running in about five minutes. Kudos to Samsung for good engineering, but the need to work out a "quick install" guide.

Great printer. But zero instructions for network install.
This is an amazing deal! Holds 500 sheets. Duplex (two sided) printing. Windows and Mac. Prints quickly. High quality. Can automatically print two pages on one. My only minor complaint is that it is a bit noisier than I expected when printing. But this is minor, because it is completely silent when at rest.

The only problem is getting it installed. I imagine that hooking up a parallel or USB cable will be easy. But if you wanted to do that, you'd buy the cheaper 2150 model. If you pay extra for the "N" model, you want to hook it up via an ethernet cable so any computer on your network can print to it. Good luck. I am reasonable facile (but hardly an expert) with network terminology and configuration (I know what TCPIP and DHCP and IP mean), and it took me several hours. I still am not sure why it started working, and really don't know enough to troubleshoot future problems. I suspect I'll be spending more time in the future repeating these steps.

Samsung provides zero help in installing on the network. The network manual has only two pages (in each language). And that tells you how to insert a CD and run the installation program. But then what? How to configure the network? TCPIP? They offer a printer driver, plus two network utilities, each with several options. What do they mean? Which should you use? Which gets installed first? Is it important to reboot? How to troubleshoot? You are on your own. Not a word about this in any of the manuals. Zero guidance on the web site. This is a very new printer, but Samsung's site also offers zero guidance for earlier N printer models.

Only buy this printer if you are very familiar with network configuration, or can get someone else to do it for you. Even then, expect to spend several frustrating hours fussing with settings.

Note the problem is not that the manual is badly translated. There simply is no explanation, zero, of how to configure the printer on the network. And the problem is not that my system is unusual. In fact, it is quite standard: computers running Windows XP home edition connected via Cat5 cables to a Linksys router.

UPDATE: The problem is that dynamic assignment of IP address (DHCP) although the default, appears to be completely useless. Every time you turn on the printer, it gets a new IP address from your router (which does the DHCP assignments). But the computer still prints to the prior IP address so nothing works. You need to assign the printer a static IP address using one of the provided programs, and then tell the driver what that address is. Then it just works.

This is a waste of money
I have had two of these label printers and both times, they have stopped functioning after a few months. When I contacted Seiko to replace the first one, they refused and said they bore no responsibility for a faulty product. TGhey told me to contact Amazon who after some arm twisting, agreed to replace it. The second one is now also not working, but instead of me wasting valuable hours trying to fight to get a replacement, I'm going to dump it in the trash where it belongs and buy a Dynmo one which my colleague has which works perfectly. Seiko Instruments SUCKS.

No problems; fun device!
I've had the Seiko Smart Label Printer 100 attached to my computer for well over a year now. While I don't use it a great deal (I have not yet finished my first roll of labels!) I have never had any significant problem with it. It is, in fact, kind of a hoot to use -- I get a small thrill when I finally push the "print" button and the label immediately starts to roll out; I guess the street wisdom about guys liking label makers is true! :-) But seriously, I am always amazaed at the fine resolution I get on the printed labels (and mistakenly tend to use a font larger than I need). I give the device 4 rather than 5 stars mostly because the user interface of the software used to design the label contents is a little bit clunky, but I wouldn't let this prevent me from buying and using the printer.

Excellent Product
Great product which I have used on several computers with no problems for nearly 2 years. Have gone through many rolls of tapes with not one wasted label of thousands printed. Great software makes printing easy and convenient. USPS codes makes the mail move faster to destination.

The XD130df WorkCenter...the facts
The copy function works as advertised, just try to print from either DOS or Windows and you will soon enjoy the exquisite pain of absolute frustration...this thing jams more then Interstate 5 through Los Angelas at 5:00pm...Oh, you want graphic lines, I suggest buying a permanent marker when you pick up this workhorse...you'll need it

Works as advertised, double-sided great feature
I reluctantly purchased the printer on faith after having read the other review. I tested one in the store and it jammed, though it was the last page in the supply. I cleared it and it was fine. Copies of color photographs come out quite impressive in the grayscale photo reproductions. I got the unit because of the double-sided copying feature, which works quite well and is a treat to use. Two single pages can become one double-sided even when fed from the ADF. This proved quite useful during tax time to reduce paper I sent to an accountant. I've copied yellow paper with pencil writing quite successfully. On the down side, double-sided copying only really works on quantity one copies. The unit also doesn't offer scan once print many like another brand. I'm not using and have not tried it as a regular printer. I prefer not to mix functions among devices. It has worked reliably now for a few weeks without a single jam using ADF and double-sided copying. It takes some space, but you can save space on the right side if you don't need the special manual feed. I like the output design of the unit that helps save space. The unit can be hard to get as most stores don't seem to stock this particular model. The small incremental cost for the extra features is well worth it, especially if you desire more double-sided in quantity one versus many multiple copy jobs where a scan once print many unit might be preferred.

Solid, dependable, flexible
I have really enjoyed this machine. It has served me well so far. I have only two issues--it can have trouble being fed envelopes and it is near impossible to use my computer when the unit is printing as there is a horrendous lag. Otherwise, its a dream--great quality, fast, flexible and practical
