Too namy problems, even at this price.
I bought this printer from Amazon.com two years ago. Things were fine at first; installation was easy and print quality was good.

The first problems arose when I tried to connect it with its USB port. The issue was solved through Xerox's website, but periodic crashes and lockups are the norm now.

Over time, print quality has deteriorated dramatically. I've experienced printhead and ink clogging/drying problems that have put me in the market for a new printer.

I bought the M750 because it was relatively inexpensive and looked like it would remain [inexpensive] to operate since ink cartridges could be replaced individually by color. The short, two-year lifetime doesn't seem very cost-effective now.

Good impression after two weeks
I have had this printer for about two weeks now and so far it is an excellent value. Out of the box it was easy to set up, and the drivers were a snap. One caution for W2K users though, drivers for W2K need to be downloaded from the internet. I am not sure why Xerox does it that way, but the drivers do install quite easily.

Print quality is great, and you have four levels of detail. I print a monthly tenant newsletter, and I use draft quality to save ink. It printed out 70 copies in about 5 minutes in draft mode!

Overall I am impressed with the quality. I will complain that the receiver tray can pop off sometimes during printing. A strange effect indeed. With all the advantages though (I run mine via USB) and an awesome price, I HIGHLY recommend this printer. You will not be dissappointed.

Great Printer for the Price
Pros: Great price. Very sharp print quality. Fast. 2MB of on-board memory is really nice. Like the ability to feed banner paper in the back. Handles envelops well (once it's setup properly). Seperate color ink tanks is a great idea that everone should use. Very large black ink tank.

Cons: Big (make sure you've got the desk space). Put a little too much ink on the paper (though I think that's adjustable). If things aren't quite setup right, my Win98 machine blew up (nothing a reboot couldn't handle).

Overall: This is a great printer for the price. I really like the sharp text and clean graphics with this printer. It's light years faster than my old Canon BubbleJet 210. Definitley worth checking out this printer at the store before you buy. Print out a test page and you will be impressed. Double check the footprint measurements to make sure you have enough desk space. I had to do a little re-aranging on my desk to make everything fit.

Printer comes boxed with: Printer, manual, install CD, black ink tank, all three color tanks, power cord. Need to buy: USB or parallel cord.

Great Laser Printer / You Can't Go Wrong
After receiving this printer, I not only loved the quality out of the box, I loved the quality of the printed product. In my humble opinion, the printer is made with top quality components. The instructions are very clear, making setup a breeze. Image quality is great! You may not get the same quality photo images that you can get with a high end inkjet printer and the right paper, but the speed more than makes up for this. Text is crisp and very clear. Color graphics are also crisp and very clear. Start up is a little noisy, however this is not a concern for me. The best part of a color laser printer is that you don't have to use those expensive specialty papers (like inks jets) to get professional results. You can't go wrong with this one. Great price too!

Great printer for the price
Was looking to replace old HP laserjet 5xl (constant feeder problem), and saw 2200DL in PCWorld review. ... Decided to take a chance after salesman promised a full refund if I had any problems before 14 days. Setup was a breeze. The hardest part was lifting it up the stairs, unpacking, and putting it on a table. Definitely need two people to do this. It came with the toner catridges installed. Setting up the network config took less than a minute. Downloaded the xp drives from the website and installed it even though it was not xp certified. Did not have any problmes. Black and whites look great. Color prints don't look as good as professional grade printers, such as the Xerox/Teks at work. But for such low price and with color, it's worth much more. This printer does use lots of power, but should be okay with any modern wiring. At 1000 watts, it should use as much as your microwave. Did not noticed any lights flickering, but my ups did click a few times. Overall, this product is highly recommended.

Great printer! Great price!
For the money, this is a fantastic printer. First, installation was a breeze. The product comes with a quick setup guide and a thicker installation guide. I read over the installation guide and used the quick setup guide for its excellent illustrations. Make sure you read over everything before you install. You need to be careful that you install all pieces correctly or you could damage the printer. There are more parts to this machine than you will find with most printers, but the directions were concise and offered plenty of explanation. Software setup was easy.

Print output is good and speed is as advertised. Like another reviewer, I found the computer to be loud on startup. However, once it is going, all you can hear is a slight humm. I had no problem whatsoever with printing in Excel. Also, I printed out some pictures on plain paper and I was very satisfied with the results. Minolta suggests what kind of photographic paper to use for this laser. Visit their website at ... for more information. I do not think you should use inkjet paper. Some of the features I found appealing is the built in ethernet connection and the 32mb of ram that come with the system. These features alone are worth quite a lot to me.

I have seen inkjets and I have never liked them. If you print on an HP and rub the paper with your thumb, it will noticeably streak and smudge. I would be embarassed to submit a resume or any document that is important on these types of machines. I tried to smudge the output on this printer and it passed the smudge test with flying colors. Other inkjets, like Epsons, do not smudge as badly as HPs but they tend to print black poorly.

Goodbye inkjet and hello affordable laser. At last a color laser for less than a $...(after rebate of course)! I got this printer for my wife who has a home office and she loves it too.

I wrote this review because I do not feel like the existing review for this product does it justice.

Good printer but....
The Epson C60 prints great. No matter what paper you use the quality is the same, excellent. It is very fast. And I also like the price....
Here's the problem...the Epson C60 is a real ink guzzler. The ink runs out way too fast. The printer has an ink monitor and when you put in a cartridge (black or color) the monitor says it's full. However, when you print a one page document, the monitors ink level is at 3/4 full, what's that?
I would have gave his printer 4 or 5 stars but the ink situation is bothering me. The printer is reasonably priced but with the amount of ink cartridges you will have to buy, the printer will end up causing you alot in the long run.

excellent value
Excellent print quality, both in colour and black/white. Very fast when printing in black/white. Colour printing speed could use a little bit of improvement (a photo-quality print at 2880dpi can take up to 15 minutes, depending on complexity of the picture) but I'm not complaining. A little on the loud side when the cartridges charge up. Ink lasts for a fairly long time. Nice, clean looking printer. The photo-quality printing capability when using glossy photo paper is superb, like you just had photos professionally processed. Good drivers with no compatibility problems on Win2K Pro, although Epson already had newer, better drivers available on their website when I got the printer. USB connectivity comes in handy. Decent software package with some very cool features. Excellent bang for the buck with this machine.

Great (cheap!) little printer
This printer is a replacement for our Canon Multipass (never buy one of those!). It performs extremely well, better than average for the price. Setup was a breeze -- I had this out of the box and printing inside of 10 minutes. Documentation is extremely easy to use. I definitely like the onscreen ink indicator. It's nice to be able to see in a click whether I'm getting close to needed a new cartridge. It actually prints faster than advertised. I also appreciate having the choice between parallel and USB ports. Drawbacks are that it is louder than the other one, and the cartridges are pricey. However, the print quality is incomparable, and what good are inexpensive cartridges when a printer never works?!! I'll stick with Epson, thank you very much!

Good printer by all means
I bought the BJC 6000 in mid of 1999 ... I am happy I invested so much money on it. It work very well. With the photo ink and top photo paper, I can have close to real prints. All the limitation is the image itself. The money I spent on inks has exceed the [amount] for the printer itself.

The interface was in parallel, so some of my observation may not apply for USB version. The first page is always fast, but the next one will have to wait, and wait (For what?). That is the only cons I found and complain about. The speed is kind of slow at top quality, hey, that is acceptable. :)

The individual ink is a big plus. I found myself changing yellow more frequently then the other two.

Finally, the i850 seems to use the same inks as the BJC6000, which means i850 can't exceed the quality on the horizon direction.

Love my Canon
We just purchased our second Canon printer. The first was a BJ-610 which has serviced us for over 5 years. It is now going to our son. We purchased another Canon because of the good luck we had with the BJ-610. We are purchasing a new digital camera and the new 6000 has the special resolutions to handle digital photos. It has the additional color cartridge for photos. My biggest reason for purchasing the 6000 is the individual color cartridges. My grandkids come over and love to print colored pictures. This will allow me to put in only the colors that have run out. Our primary use for the printer is home use and now with the new digital camera, photos. We have yet to put it through it's paces and with the information from a previous review (Rich, San Antonio, Tx), I'm sure that we'll be able to set the resolutions to accomodate the pictures perfectally.

Three years with the Canon BJC6000
i've had my canon bjc-6000 for three years now. as of today, it's finally crapped out on me. i have tried everything to fix it (performed all the maintenance, cleaning, etc.) and nothing. so, i've opted to buy a canon i850, which i've heard good things about.

so, for the three years it DID work, here's my thoughts:

PROS: individual ink tanks! for ANYONE who does even a marginal amount of printing, you should invest in a printer with ind. ink tanks - it's just common sense. i can't understand why other printer companies haven't followed suit on this kind of thing. i definately got my money's worth out of the 6000. i have printed hundreds of photos that looked pretty darn good, even without the optional photo ink cartridges. keep in mind, i've had nothing to compare them to. :) it has a lot of options to print your documents/photos, etc., so for the advanced user, or just a regular user, interface is pretty easy to use.

CONS: color photo printing in highest resolution mode takes FOREVER; about 8 mins to print a page with two 4x6 prints on it. so, it's not the fastest printer, by any means. and, it's noisy, too. it cleans the print heads all the time, and while printing, actually shakes the monitor and desk hutch it's sitting on. yowza! for general purpose printing, i would recommend using good paper and something other than the "auto" setting.

overall, it's been a great printer, but it's time to move on to newer and better technology! my biggest piece of advice to anyone buying a printer: get one with individual ink tanks! it's just common sense!

So SLOW
This is the a horrible printer. I've had Canon and HP printers in the past and this one is the worst. The paper doesn't load right and it is ridiculously slow After less than a year, the cartridge sticks and I cannot get it to print straight.

EXTREMELY SLOW PRINTER
There are other printers in this price range that produce superior results with cheaper ink and faster speed - namely the Canon S330. I was never a big bubble jet fan, but they really have improved the technology on the Canono units. My S330 prints at twice the speed of this Epson unit (for most business uses), and the ink is a bit less expensive.

I can't speak for photo quality, since that is not very important to me. Setup was easy on Windows 2000 Professional. Seems very picky about the ink level.

Noisy but nice...
One can actually get into the pleasant rhythm of the printer noise; this little unit works efficiently at its assigned tasks and the ink cartridges are cheaper than the HP, one of which I also own. However, to be fair to HP, I have not figured out how many copies I am getting per cartridge so the cost per print may be in the same range. Print quality looks to be the same as I am getting from my HP960Cse. The price is a bargain in anyone's book. No complaints here.

Faulty print heads make this printer a money-pit!
This printer is a joke! Sure, it prints good pictures - but the print head gets clogged so often that most of the ink in your ink cartridges is drained before you can do much! If you let this printer sit for a week, you will need to run the head cleaning utility - which drains a visible amount of ink on the ink monitor . Subsequently, you run out oif ink in less than two months without doing much printing at all! It's ridiculous!

I bought ink cartridges three weeks ago, have printed nothing but a few resumes (no color) and now they are both halfway drained. Tell me, is this reasonable?

I think not.

epson smepsun
This is the second epson I have owed. One thing I can tell you about this brand is they are LOUD, put on some headphones when you are printing things out, oh and the desk better be secure because they rock back and forth, I though mine was going to walk off the table! The print, its ok but also expect the paper to jam a lot on thicker card stock. Oh and make sure you order some head cleaner from www.maxpatch.com. The heads constantly get dirty and they sell a fluid that will clean them. with HP or Lexmark every time you buy a new cartridge you get a new head, not so with epson. When I am making greating cards, mine likes to leave nice black track marks. I have cleaned the rollers and it still does it, guess its a gift from epson. If you want a good printer buy HP or Lexmark, yes you pay more for ink, but the photo quality prints are just as good and they are super quite. My printer is in my bedroom and when I print in the morning the noise is enough to wake up my girlfriend. stay away from epson

The Best Photos I Have Ever Seen. . . But. . .
Okay, here is how it is: This is the best photo printer this side of your local photo lab, but it doesn't come without some disadvantages. This printer does not use the Epson DuraBrite ink, which the Epson C82 does. It does use a five ink system, but it is housed in a single cartridge. That is pretty lousy because the ink tank is rather small. You must understand though, if you have a decent digital camera, you will not know the difference between this and a professional development.

The digital film readers that are included in the unit are pretty cool as they are pretty expensive when they are not in the Epson box. The little read out screen for picture selecting is a bit difficult to get used to, as it is definitely no LCD screen. But, for the price, who would expect a monitor. If running without a computer is a must, then the selection screen is sufficient. If at all possible, use your computer and import that way, it is much easier. There is also a reel on the back for 4x6 paper rolls.

Overall, the printer is rather affordable for the output. The pictures are top shelf and text is almost laser quality. It is well worth the money and puts out better pictures than any machine I have ever encountered. This replaces the Epson C82 as my favorite photo printer on the market.

Do not buy this printer
I bought this printer for my 85-yr-old mother to use with her iMac (OS 9.2). From the outset, there were problems. The drivers provided on the CD did not load properly, and the printer has never printed the way it should. I had to download drivers from the Canon website, which did not work either. Getting support from Canon was close to impossible and we are now going to junk a printer that ultimately printed a grand total of no more than 100 pages in its short demented life. I am not a helpless computer user, but I have never encountered so many problems with a printer. Maybe ours was a lemon, but I would not recommend this printer.

IN DEFENSE OF THE CANON BJC 2100
I recently moved my 2100 to the office and began the search for another one. No machine is without fault. However, I found the 2100 easy to operate and easier to fix. I am a bookkeeper and print constantly. The cost of the BC-20 all black printer cartridge is a small price to pay for the service I've received in the last seven years. This printer came with my Gateway package and if it quit tomorrow I would still be impressed by its durability. I have been hard on this printer demanding endless hours of printing. If it jams it's easy to clear and reset. For non-color printing this would be my choice.

great price great print
i actually wanted to buy an epson c43ux but since it was out of stock, i decided to buy the canon bjc 2100sp. the dpi is quite low for a printer these days and also the epson model had much higher dpi. but then since i am was only print color photos once in a full moon and most of my needs would be for text prints, i settled for a canon printer. the installation was a jiffy even with a parallel port and we were up and away in just over a minute. the text prints are nice but the super economy mode prints are too light and need good lighting to read but i suppose, that must be expected when you are printing in super economy mode. well the ink cartridges are cheap and there are no three color cartridges like in some epson and other brand models. there is only one cartridge for the color and one for ink. the color prints are not that good.
One other thing to note is that the printer is not that clunky or cheap looking as the epson c43ux model which i originally intended to buy.it is compact and saves desk space.
Overall a good prnter if your needs include heavy text printing and that occasional photo prints.

Sheesh....
Don't get me wrong.

I have been a fan of Epson's for a very long time from the inception of the Stylus II to the 800.

However, my 800 died after long, faithful and workhorse-like service. So I saw the rather affordable 777! So, like a fool, I believed that inkjet printers had become extremely cheap and wouldn't feel that Epson had compromised on quality. Right?

Wrong!! First and foremost, the printer felt as if it had to clean the inkjet cartridges--before printing--anytime that it had not been used for, say, a DAY...even if I left it on! As anyone owning an inkjet printer would know, this consumes ink.

Then there was its functionality. Every, and I mean EVERY, single time I put in new ink, I noticed that streaking and banding would occur. This, of course, was easily corrected...BY CLEANING THE CARTRIDGES ONCE MORE. Honestly, if I installed the cartridges the first time when they were primed and CLEANED, you would not expect me to think: "Oh, geez, time to clean the heads AGAIN?!?" And it goes through ink in no time flat. Even purchasing inkjet cartridges at certain warehouse stores was not saving on the pocket book...within a month, I paid more for cartridges then I did for the original printer. YIKES!

Don't bother with this printer. It went well for about a month and then decided to crash on me...hard. You DEFINITELY get what you PAY for here! If I had to make a recommendation, I would go with my recent purchase of an HP Photosmart 7350. It's a little pricey, but its functionality of incorporating a direct input for SmartMEDIA cards as well as its picture quality is worth the price.

Worked great , then went to crap
I got this printer brand new at CompUSA 4 years ago for only $40 (a new store opening celebration). It worked great until I put a generic cartridge in there. All it did was streak and clog the heads. When I finally found a cartridge that worked the gears and belts went to crap!! The estimate for repair was $60. I threw the printer out a 6 story window.

Epson Stylus Color 777
The Epson Stylus Color 777 is a pretty tough little printer. It prints pictures on photo paper that looks like you had them professionally printed. I love the speed of this thing. A full color picture takes only a few minutes to print.
Pros:
Quiet Print
Fast Print
Quality
Cons:
Small Paper Tray
Expensieve Ink Cartridges

Junk
Dont waste your money. This is the last epson I will ever buy. Uses too much ink, always clogs and is a moody piece of junk. I will be buying a cannon next. After owning four epsons in six years I have had enough! The scanner I bought was also an epson. It is a piece of crap too.

Great printer/great value
I bought this printer looking for a photo-quality printer at the best possible price. From the research that I did, there is no printer available that gives this quality of printing for such a great price. The printer is indeed a bit slow and noisy, but I am able to print out photos that almost look like the original (and I am comparing this to professionally taken photos). If you want to upgrade to the 890 or better, then you can get the speed as well. Initially I had some problems installing the driver (my PC did not seem to be communicating to the printer) -- I called Epson tech support and within 15 minutes, it was working perfectly! My only complaint is that the photos come out looking more pink than they should, so I always have to adjust the color (about -12 on the magenta) before I print. Otherwise, I love it!

Best $...I ever spent
I spent too much time making my printer decision, with repeat visits to review sites and numerous comparisons with my friends who own photo printers. Looking back, it all seems simple now... after three months the Epson 780 printer is perfect so far.

The images themselves are 100% photo-lab quality (using images from my 3.3 megapix camera), even at sizes as large as 8 X 10. You cannot beat this print quality, in my opinion it exceeds the HP models. This is my third color printer (the others were older color inkjet HP), and I was impressed with how much better inkjet photo printing has become even in the last few years. I never thought $... could get me such a good printer.

The photo processing software is adequate (2 programs are included). The Epson product (FileFactory) has some nice retouch capability, but afterward (even after exiting and re-launching the program) the retouched version of the file is always displayed. It is a little awkward to back out to the original version of the photo, and it can be hard to figure out where the retouched photo files are stored by the program.

I use Windows 2000, and once or twice the print driver seems to lock up after printing and I have had to reboot. However, I have a very non-standard PC configuration that locks up on me a lot in general, so I do not believe this is an Epson-related problem.

The printer itself is somewhat loud and somewhat slow, and it does have small ink cartridges. I needed a refill on the color cartridge after a combined total of about three 8X10 and twenty 4X6 images. These minor issues, which have received a lot of attention in the reviews here, should not sway anyone away from purchasing this product.

I Won't Buy Another Lexmark Product!!
I've been running my X83 on WinXP for 18 months with no real problems. Occasional problems were usually solved by re-booting the computer. My usage of this machine is only about 15-20 pages per month (let's see, 15-20 page x 18 months, that's about 270-360 pages over the lifetime of this printer.

A week ago, I started to print a document and noticed that the printer wasn't "On". Turns out the power supply is OK, but the printer itself totally FAILED (this is what Lexmark' Techs - 3 different ones - decided) with absolutely no warning!! $186 for 360 pages is a little too expensive for me and that doesn't include the cost of the numerous print cartridge that it used.Of course now I'm stuck with three unopened ink cartridges as well.

Nothing else from this company for me. Also, I just learned that Lexmark makes Dell's printers, so stay away from those as well.

Most disappointing printer in the history of the universe
What can I say. From the day I bought this piece of junk it has failed to work properly. Emailing back and forth with Lexmark's tech support was fruitless on most occasions. Problems popped up, disappeared and popped up again with no rhyme or reason. I might add that my brother-in-law is a tech expert at a major university and could never figure out the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune I suffered with this printer. DO NOT BUY. I repeat, DO NOT BUY. Learn from my mistake. Right now it serves as a gigantic paperweight. I'm too lazy to call my town's special pick-up garbage service to haul it away.

Good value multi-function home printer
After comparing the Lexmark X83 at a CompUSA with the comparable HP, we chose to purchase it. In short, we have been very pleased with it. For reference, our previous printer was a Lexmark 3200 which we also bought for its value.

The print quality is fantastic, with a stunning high-end of 2400x1200. On Kodak photo-paper, the images are amazingly vibrant and life-like.

B/W printing is very fast and crisp at the default we set (600x600 on plain paper). It looks at least as good as the office HP laser printer, although that might have to do with the better paper we use at home. I prefer the Lexmark technology to the HP REt; it seems to make small letters more readable.

Others have written about the X83 not being networkable, and that is my biggest gripe. I "solved" this by connecting the printer to my USB hub on the desk top, instead of the USB port in the back of the computer. I unplug the printer from the hub and attach it to my laptop when I want to print from the laptop(rare; I usually print my work at the office). The USB connection makes it very easy to do this.

The USB connection has also proven useful for scanning. Transfer between the printer and the computer is much faster than the old printer connection (my old scanner used a bi-directional parallel port).

Scanning is easy. You can use the included little applet, which is simple. I tried OCR to convert an encyclopedia page to text, and it was pretty accurate. OCR has come a long way since the last time I tried it.

Copying is done via the front panel. One reason I chose the Lexmark was that the copy bed was like a copier. I believe the comparable HP used a page feed, like a fax, which makes copying book pages impossible; the HP flat bed was (...) more expensive. The cover also comes off, which is handy for those really fat books I have.

So, here's a summary:

HITS:

* Cheap compared to HP
* Good quality print in B/W and color
* USB connection
* Easy panel operation
* Flat-bed scanner for copying/scanning books

NITS:

* Not networkable
* Colors not quite true in copying
* Bundled software? What bundled software?

OVERALL:

See my 5-star rating! Great for home use.
