Too namy problems, even at this price.
Good impression after two weeksPrint quality is great, and you have four levels of detail. I print a monthly tenant newsletter, and I use draft quality to save ink. It printed out 70 copies in about 5 minutes in draft mode!
Overall I am impressed with the quality. I will complain that the receiver tray can pop off sometimes during printing. A strange effect indeed. With all the advantages though (I run mine via USB) and an awesome price, I HIGHLY recommend this printer. You will not be dissappointed.
Great Printer for the PriceCons: Big (make sure you've got the desk space). Put a little too much ink on the paper (though I think that's adjustable). If things aren't quite setup right, my Win98 machine blew up (nothing a reboot couldn't handle).
Overall: This is a great printer for the price. I really like the sharp text and clean graphics with this printer. It's light years faster than my old Canon BubbleJet 210. Definitley worth checking out this printer at the store before you buy. Print out a test page and you will be impressed. Double check the footprint measurements to make sure you have enough desk space. I had to do a little re-aranging on my desk to make everything fit.
Printer comes boxed with: Printer, manual, install CD, black ink tank, all three color tanks, power cord. Need to buy: USB or parallel cord.

Great Laser Printer / You Can't Go Wrong
Great printer for the price
Great printer! Great price!Print output is good and speed is as advertised. Like another reviewer, I found the computer to be loud on startup. However, once it is going, all you can hear is a slight humm. I had no problem whatsoever with printing in Excel. Also, I printed out some pictures on plain paper and I was very satisfied with the results. Minolta suggests what kind of photographic paper to use for this laser. Visit their website at ... for more information. I do not think you should use inkjet paper. Some of the features I found appealing is the built in ethernet connection and the 32mb of ram that come with the system. These features alone are worth quite a lot to me.
I have seen inkjets and I have never liked them. If you print on an HP and rub the paper with your thumb, it will noticeably streak and smudge. I would be embarassed to submit a resume or any document that is important on these types of machines. I tried to smudge the output on this printer and it passed the smudge test with flying colors. Other inkjets, like Epsons, do not smudge as badly as HPs but they tend to print black poorly.
Goodbye inkjet and hello affordable laser. At last a color laser for less than a $...(after rebate of course)! I got this printer for my wife who has a home office and she loves it too.
I wrote this review because I do not feel like the existing review for this product does it justice.

Good printer but....Here's the problem...the Epson C60 is a real ink guzzler. The ink runs out way too fast. The printer has an ink monitor and when you put in a cartridge (black or color) the monitor says it's full. However, when you print a one page document, the monitors ink level is at 3/4 full, what's that?
I would have gave his printer 4 or 5 stars but the ink situation is bothering me. The printer is reasonably priced but with the amount of ink cartridges you will have to buy, the printer will end up causing you alot in the long run.
excellent value
Great (cheap!) little printer
- Eight-ppm black
- Five-ppm color
- 1440-by-720 dpi color and black printing, laser-like quality
- Large individual ink tanks
- USB, Mac OS, and network compatible
List price: $168.92 (that's NaN% off!)

Good printer by all meansThe interface was in parallel, so some of my observation may not apply for USB version. The first page is always fast, but the next one will have to wait, and wait (For what?). That is the only cons I found and complain about. The speed is kind of slow at top quality, hey, that is acceptable. :)
The individual ink is a big plus. I found myself changing yellow more frequently then the other two.
Finally, the i850 seems to use the same inks as the BJC6000, which means i850 can't exceed the quality on the horizon direction.
Love my Canon
Three years with the Canon BJC6000so, for the three years it DID work, here's my thoughts:
PROS: individual ink tanks! for ANYONE who does even a marginal amount of printing, you should invest in a printer with ind. ink tanks - it's just common sense. i can't understand why other printer companies haven't followed suit on this kind of thing. i definately got my money's worth out of the 6000. i have printed hundreds of photos that looked pretty darn good, even without the optional photo ink cartridges. keep in mind, i've had nothing to compare them to. :) it has a lot of options to print your documents/photos, etc., so for the advanced user, or just a regular user, interface is pretty easy to use.
CONS: color photo printing in highest resolution mode takes FOREVER; about 8 mins to print a page with two 4x6 prints on it. so, it's not the fastest printer, by any means. and, it's noisy, too. it cleans the print heads all the time, and while printing, actually shakes the monitor and desk hutch it's sitting on. yowza! for general purpose printing, i would recommend using good paper and something other than the "auto" setting.
overall, it's been a great printer, but it's time to move on to newer and better technology! my biggest piece of advice to anyone buying a printer: get one with individual ink tanks! it's just common sense!

So SLOW
EXTREMELY SLOW PRINTERI can't speak for photo quality, since that is not very important to me. Setup was easy on Windows 2000 Professional. Seems very picky about the ink level.
Noisy but nice...

Faulty print heads make this printer a money-pit!I bought ink cartridges three weeks ago, have printed nothing but a few resumes (no color) and now they are both halfway drained. Tell me, is this reasonable?
I think not.
epson smepsun
The Best Photos I Have Ever Seen. . . But. . .The digital film readers that are included in the unit are pretty cool as they are pretty expensive when they are not in the Epson box. The little read out screen for picture selecting is a bit difficult to get used to, as it is definitely no LCD screen. But, for the price, who would expect a monitor. If running without a computer is a must, then the selection screen is sufficient. If at all possible, use your computer and import that way, it is much easier. There is also a reel on the back for 4x6 paper rolls.
Overall, the printer is rather affordable for the output. The pictures are top shelf and text is almost laser quality. It is well worth the money and puts out better pictures than any machine I have ever encountered. This replaces the Epson C82 as my favorite photo printer on the market.

Do not buy this printer
IN DEFENSE OF THE CANON BJC 2100
great price great printOne other thing to note is that the printer is not that clunky or cheap looking as the epson c43ux model which i originally intended to buy.it is compact and saves desk space.
Overall a good prnter if your needs include heavy text printing and that occasional photo prints.

Sheesh....I have been a fan of Epson's for a very long time from the inception of the Stylus II to the 800.
However, my 800 died after long, faithful and workhorse-like service. So I saw the rather affordable 777! So, like a fool, I believed that inkjet printers had become extremely cheap and wouldn't feel that Epson had compromised on quality. Right?
Wrong!! First and foremost, the printer felt as if it had to clean the inkjet cartridges--before printing--anytime that it had not been used for, say, a DAY...even if I left it on! As anyone owning an inkjet printer would know, this consumes ink.
Then there was its functionality. Every, and I mean EVERY, single time I put in new ink, I noticed that streaking and banding would occur. This, of course, was easily corrected...BY CLEANING THE CARTRIDGES ONCE MORE. Honestly, if I installed the cartridges the first time when they were primed and CLEANED, you would not expect me to think: "Oh, geez, time to clean the heads AGAIN?!?" And it goes through ink in no time flat. Even purchasing inkjet cartridges at certain warehouse stores was not saving on the pocket book...within a month, I paid more for cartridges then I did for the original printer. YIKES!
Don't bother with this printer. It went well for about a month and then decided to crash on me...hard. You DEFINITELY get what you PAY for here! If I had to make a recommendation, I would go with my recent purchase of an HP Photosmart 7350. It's a little pricey, but its functionality of incorporating a direct input for SmartMEDIA cards as well as its picture quality is worth the price.
Worked great , then went to crap

Junk
Great printer/great value
Best $...I ever spentThe images themselves are 100% photo-lab quality (using images from my 3.3 megapix camera), even at sizes as large as 8 X 10. You cannot beat this print quality, in my opinion it exceeds the HP models. This is my third color printer (the others were older color inkjet HP), and I was impressed with how much better inkjet photo printing has become even in the last few years. I never thought $... could get me such a good printer.
The photo processing software is adequate (2 programs are included). The Epson product (FileFactory) has some nice retouch capability, but afterward (even after exiting and re-launching the program) the retouched version of the file is always displayed. It is a little awkward to back out to the original version of the photo, and it can be hard to figure out where the retouched photo files are stored by the program.
I use Windows 2000, and once or twice the print driver seems to lock up after printing and I have had to reboot. However, I have a very non-standard PC configuration that locks up on me a lot in general, so I do not believe this is an Epson-related problem.
The printer itself is somewhat loud and somewhat slow, and it does have small ink cartridges. I needed a refill on the color cartridge after a combined total of about three 8X10 and twenty 4X6 images. These minor issues, which have received a lot of attention in the reviews here, should not sway anyone away from purchasing this product.

I Won't Buy Another Lexmark Product!!A week ago, I started to print a document and noticed that the printer wasn't "On". Turns out the power supply is OK, but the printer itself totally FAILED (this is what Lexmark' Techs - 3 different ones - decided) with absolutely no warning!! $186 for 360 pages is a little too expensive for me and that doesn't include the cost of the numerous print cartridge that it used.Of course now I'm stuck with three unopened ink cartridges as well.
Nothing else from this company for me. Also, I just learned that Lexmark makes Dell's printers, so stay away from those as well.
Most disappointing printer in the history of the universe
Good value multi-function home printerThe print quality is fantastic, with a stunning high-end of 2400x1200. On Kodak photo-paper, the images are amazingly vibrant and life-like.
B/W printing is very fast and crisp at the default we set (600x600 on plain paper). It looks at least as good as the office HP laser printer, although that might have to do with the better paper we use at home. I prefer the Lexmark technology to the HP REt; it seems to make small letters more readable.
Others have written about the X83 not being networkable, and that is my biggest gripe. I "solved" this by connecting the printer to my USB hub on the desk top, instead of the USB port in the back of the computer. I unplug the printer from the hub and attach it to my laptop when I want to print from the laptop(rare; I usually print my work at the office). The USB connection makes it very easy to do this.
The USB connection has also proven useful for scanning. Transfer between the printer and the computer is much faster than the old printer connection (my old scanner used a bi-directional parallel port).
Scanning is easy. You can use the included little applet, which is simple. I tried OCR to convert an encyclopedia page to text, and it was pretty accurate. OCR has come a long way since the last time I tried it.
Copying is done via the front panel. One reason I chose the Lexmark was that the copy bed was like a copier. I believe the comparable HP used a page feed, like a fax, which makes copying book pages impossible; the HP flat bed was (...) more expensive. The cover also comes off, which is handy for those really fat books I have.
So, here's a summary:
HITS:
* Cheap compared to HP
* Good quality print in B/W and color
* USB connection
* Easy panel operation
* Flat-bed scanner for copying/scanning books
NITS:
* Not networkable
* Colors not quite true in copying
* Bundled software? What bundled software?
OVERALL:
See my 5-star rating! Great for home use.
The first problems arose when I tried to connect it with its USB port. The issue was solved through Xerox's website, but periodic crashes and lockups are the norm now.
Over time, print quality has deteriorated dramatically. I've experienced printhead and ink clogging/drying problems that have put me in the market for a new printer.
I bought the M750 because it was relatively inexpensive and looked like it would remain [inexpensive] to operate since ink cartridges could be replaced individually by color. The short, two-year lifetime doesn't seem very cost-effective now.
