Bad Drivers from PowerVR
Good Card for Some GamesI am running a Compaq Presario w/512MB Celeron 1.4 GHz processor and a MS Force Feedback 2 joystick with a 21" monitor. Not the most potent combination but somewhat competent for the state of technology.
Combat Flight Simulator 2 runs great as does Flight Sim 2002 Professional. CFS 3 will not run as yet, although it looks as though this may be a matter skill with the settings on my part. Other sims such as Falcon 4.0, Fly 2K, Janes WWII fighters and USAF require individual setups and none will run smoothly unless you shutdown some onboard services or just do a clean boot. But, the price wasn't bad when I bought it. It may be even cheaper now.
Very Good Card, some Problems though

anything but "EZ" audio
Not-So-EZAudio
Accuracy in reviewingHowever, I do find it odd that a ONE STAR rating is allowed to be given to the product for the customer's dissatisfaction with the shipping time. That is something that should be reported in the SELLER'S ratings.
Maybe ratings should be screened a little closer to prevent morons like this from erroneously rating products poorly.

Capvie vedio capture deviceNext I tried to install it with my P4 laptop with winxp.
This time the problem was greater and the result was NO HOPe
I think this device is not worh to buy at all.
Don't bother with this one!I'd recommend avioding this product.
What you get for buying cheap video capture devicesI started to set it up. That's when I discovered the first shortcoming of the device (and one that's of my laptop).
Firstly, there was no audio in socket on the device. The manual tells me to plug the audio in of the TV into the line-in jack of the laptop, and it turns out that my Compaq laptop doesn't have a line-in jack (Shame on you, HP!) either. So, I forked out more cash (~RM500/US$132) on an Sound Blaster Extigy USB sound device.
After I had everything up, I downloaded the latest drivers from the internet (as my tech-saavy mind told me to), and installed them. Fired the capture program up. It didn't work.
So, I did some troubleshooting, and it turns out that I had the connection on the TV end wrong. Swapped it around, and presto!
After the initial fun stage, I started to discover more flaws.
It couldn't take full motion capture. The framerates were jumpy and wouldn't get close to the 30fps at 352x284 advertised on the box. In fact, you'll be lucky if you could get it to capture frames at 15fps at 172x144.
It wouldn't work with Windows Movie Maker or any other video capture programs properly if you're not logged in as a power user. Pictures will become clipped in Windows Movie Maker or other programs if the resolution is changed from within the program. Changing the settings in Windows Movie Maker or other programs will crash the programs in question. Also, one has to run the provided capture program first, close the provided capture program, and then run the desired program (i.e. virtualdub or Windows Movie Maker) to get it to work. Otherwise, the desired program will hang. Sound and Video loses sync after a while. And more.
So far, I've e-mailed Lifeview, and they told me that they're working on a solution. But that was over 3 months ago and I still do not see any updates on their website today.
In a nutshell, unless you're under a ultra-tight budget and you need a USB video capture device to make stills of TV broadcasts, go for it. Otherwise you should avoid this unit and go for better ones. This one's more of a toy than a tool.

A real nightmareIMPORTANT*** Don't believe me? Check out Pinnacle's own home page. All the problems are documented there in the MP10 forum. You have MSCE's and system administrators emailing Pinnacle with their problems stating that they are unable to get it to work.

a terrible product
difficult to install, virtually no support, buggy softwareThe Guide Plus software that it comes with which allows it to function as a VCR is not supported by ATI or the company that creates it, Gemstar. I noticed the Bravo network is not included in the list of stations. There's no way to add it and no place to get support to find out how to add the listings, or to get Gemstar to add it.
This puppy is going back.
TV at lastIt supports TV guide (free) and I use it to do timer recordings hooked to my VCR, without the complicated VCR setup.
The actual TV image is good at the sized rate recommended, but drops off as the picture is enlarged.

- Scan channels easily with a built-in 125-channel TV tuner
- Watch TV on your PC monitor on a full screen or in a window
- Capture more video and still images in MPEG-2 format than ever before

- Create a “TV magazine” with saved images and text from selected TV programs

Make sure you have an ATI Radeon graphics chip FIRST
Check compatibility before buying
Decent productOn the other hand the setup was a mess (I'm using Windows XP).
a) The CD that came with the hardware didn't have the same folder/directory structure as described in the manual. Had to browse and locate the XP drivers myself.
b) TV viewing and recording worked pretty well the first time, but the captured images had a totally green tint (red objects appeared black, so somehow "R" was missing from RGB signals). At first I thought the hardware was defective. Really freaked me out.
c) ATI.com had downloads for a newer version 8.8. I forgot to uninstall the CD's 8.2 first, and 8.8 didn't recognize 8.2 and got everything mixed up. Eventually had to uninstall both 8.2 and 8.8 and reinstall 8.8 (Urgh).
Anyway, after all this, it started working pretty well. Picture quality is decent. Video encoding works well on my humble P3 machine.
The software is not great but okay with me (I just want to watch TV and occasionally record and capture stuff so what do I care). The user interface is not very pleasing to the eyes by the way.
For $65 it's a pretty good bang for the buck. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the trouble I had. I'm gonna burn a CD myself and keep it for downloaded 8.8 stuff instead of that sorry CD.
