The program won't do motion menus, and it tells you when you start up that it wants to run with only a few colors instead of normal resolution so you know that it isn't very advanced. Then I have tried several different hardware configurations and I am using XP with several different codec settings and the dumb program keeps crashing, I'm not really into updating into the beta versions of software but I think you going to have to in order to get your moneys worth out of this program. I have gotten it to work with really common compression settings like Microsft DV AVI but nothing else though and really small movies, not large ones. I'd say it's more like $10 rather than $500.

The features supposedly supported by this program sound great, but the program crashes or errors out every time. A major disappointment for a piece of software this expensive.

Bottom line: There isn't any decent DVD authoring software yet that doesn't cost thousands of dollars. If you want to burn decent DVDs right now, use a Mac!

The TDK portion of this may work OK, I don't know, because the software that comes with it, ArcSoft ShowBiz, is some of the worst software I have ever encounterd, doesn't work. I have a 6 month old almost top of the line dell, so I meet all the requiremets. The sofware crashed my computer every time! I would have to manually re-boot! I have been to ArcSofts' web site, and they no longer sell the version that comes with the indicapture, but they will sell you the upgraded version for 50 bucks!

I eded up purchasing Screenblast software made by Sony. It works great!!! It is so intuitive that I was able to make a DVD without even reading the instructions. Indicapture seems like a good idea, but until the software gets an upgrade, I would steer clear of this one, folks!

If only I knew where I could unload this turkey.....

First off let me say after totaly exhausting tdk tech Support the product still dosn't work. My computer in which greatly exceeds all Requirements for the unit still dosn't reconize it. tdk finally said that it simply didn't work with some computers. So buy at your on risk but what ever you do don't get it though office depot on this site first they fill your oder though tech depot which dosn't take returns on this product. I finally got most of my money back but it wasn't easy. So If you try this product please go with another store.

I was skeptical after reading a negative review here, but noticed that almost every analog to DV converter invariably gets disgruntled feedback. I decided to trust the TDK reputation and appreciated the product descriptions on their own website. This device works much better than I anticipated and delivers terrific quality that doesn't take up much space on a hard drive. I'm very pleased with this purchase and the bundled software from ArcSoft also seems terrific. I'm glad I made a good choice as TDK knows what they're doing. I had one minor question about a driver and their telephone tech support was helpful.

It does what it says it will for a reasonable price. According to AverMedia tech support, it only captures with NeoDVD, which is lacking in many options, like lightening the input. Windows Movie Maker 2 on XP Pro works, but captures in low res-only. Nero won't work at all.

NeoDVD files are MPG2, but are pretty large still. The TV tuner works, but the audio is poor when playing back a recording.

Bought this today, and was all excited about being able to watch my daughter's footage on my laptop. I went through the setup and the only result I got was some color shadow - Nothing worked, and I could not see anything.
I tried the following:
- changing various display formats (such as ntsc)
- reinstalling the driver and software
- removing direcx9 since it needed directx8
- Increasing the USB system resource
- downloading amd Installing patch from Avermedia's website (suprisingly they only list XP as supported platform although in the box I puchased stated 2000/XP)
- No other information was provided on their website

Now the average consumer won't even go half as far as I did. I work in IT as a software engineer.

This product not only does not work, but Avermedia does not provide enough support information when you are having problems.

When you pay money, you expect things to work. I will return this piece of crap tomorrow and go with something else.

Product reviewed well in PC magazine, and installed easily on my IBM laptop - very nice display of 16 channels (still shots) at a pop, video really pretty good after tuning each one...but you thought perhaps you'd get AUDIO piped along with it? Well, think again. I suppose somewhere in the specs it says your laptop needs to have a line input (3.5 mm stereo jack in) but I missed it. Line input means relatively high voltage (up to volts) while the microphone input (usually mono) wants millivolts so be careful. If I were using a desktop with a sound card (which have line inputs generally) I'd give this thing 4 stars. There is no, NO online support - the product manual is not on the CD and the link to it on the website is dead. So I can see fine, and I can hear fine if I bring headphones. You can record video but in my case, not audio.

This review is for Dazzle DV-Editor DM-6000.

This product does not work. I could not capture video from my Sony DCR-TRV20 mini DV camcorder using this product.

On its outer package it says "capture video from any digital camcorder". There is even a picture of Sony camcorder on the package (of cause they removed the brand name). I checked Dazzle's web site and found an article saying that there is compatibility problem when using Sony camcorders. I sent them an email asking if this product really works on Sony camcorders. They replied that if the problem is posted on their web site, it means the problem has not been solved. What a joke.

This package is great for video game players who want screenshots/ movies/ audio for web sites. The screengrab feature is easy to use, and the resolution can easily be adjusted. The audio encoding is also noteworthy, as it can record in several popular formats, including Real Audio. The stand out, however, is the MPG encoding, which is relatively easy to use. Grabbing video from camcorders/ game systems is great, and the encoder puts them at a decent size while maintaining good image quality.

Overall, it's a good purchase, but for a special brand of consumer. Pick it up if you don't want to shell out the cash for a capture card (This review written based on "last year's model", the Parallel Port version).

The 6-in-1 Reader did not work. The video program kept crashing. But the worst part is the essentially non-existent support from Pinnacle Systems. Couldn't find an answer on their troubleshooting website; after 2 weeks of sending e-mails in a futile effort to get some help, I bundled it up and sent it back!

The video capture quality for this thing is only 240x320. 2 stars on video capture. Card 6 in 1 reader is awsome. 10 out of 5 stars on it.

There are many things wrong with this product. As an A+ Certified tech, installation should be a piece of cake. Wrong. It has been a couple of days and no go. I will have to hook it up to one of only 2 USB ports on the motherboard to see if that would work but with a powered USB hub, it will not. But the big surprise is the (what I feel)lack of product support. You have a choice of 1. a forum 2. faq 3. email. The manual is all of 8 pages and it starts on Page 2. Better to use a PCI capture card and leave the USB headaches behind.

Actually a mixed review from my experience. I found it easy to install (with a Sony Vaio > Sony camcorder as my gear). In fact I had a DVD made with some cool special effects in under four hours from opening the box. I am not much of a computer hack either, so easy to use. Hence four stars for this half pf the review.
HOWEVER....manual and support is VERY slim. Also certain to read the product info closely (as I did not - stupid bear) as you can only go from analog to digital and not the other way around. Now I have some DVDs that only certain family members can use and I am looking hard at the Dazzle Hollywood as another investment ([price] plus) to be able to edit on my Vaio and return to VHS. I will probably review that product in a week or so, so if you want to make use of my trial and error (or success) hang on.....

I cannot speak for PC users, but this product was absolutely worthless on my Mac. Although my computer met all system requirements and I followed the directions, the adapter simply did not work at all. The software included is amateurish and buggy, no user manual was included (despite advertisements to the contrary), and the read-me files contained on the CD were unhelpful and written in broken English. I contacted QVS tech support for assistance, and they attempted to solve my Mac problem based on their (limited) knowledge of the Windows version, because they didn't have access to a Mac. It seemed that anyone with a basic working knowledge of computers would have been better suited to provide tech support. In short, stay far, far away!

Works fine with Win 2000, video capture quality satisfactory, but captured audio doen't have low frequencies.

Finally bought an AIW 9600 AGP Board (Retail Pack). Paid almost $200.00 and thought the good times were coming. Asked for help with installation (Friend a real expert with computers) and carefully followed the installation directions which were vague at best. After many frustrating hours, card worked for a few hours and then the TV Tuner just stopped working. Nothing, I repeat, nothing including a total re-installation worked. No help from ATI. Downloads (Drivers) very confusing and no tech assistance. What a nightmare. Never do it again.

After hours of frustration, I finally found this paragraph I am pasting directly from dazzle's web site...

Currently DVD Complete cannot capture Audio and Video using the DCS 200, DVC 100, DVC 150,or DVC 80. We are aware of this issue and are working towards and update for DVD Complete that will allow capture directly into the DVD Complete software.

...At least the card reader part still works, albeit a very expensive card reader!

Even after installing the last version (2.1.5.0 November 2002) of Movie Star 5 the software that comes with Station 200 I had a major struggle to make a home movie of 5 minutes duration. Retrieving a saved project with "centered" titles and an intact time line was impossible.

After looking at all the reviews given here and on other sites, I still decided to give this system a try. I have no problem installing the hardware. For the software, I only installed MovieStar 5 and downloaded the patch from Dazzle. They all worked great on my Windows ME and Windows XP systems. May be I am lucky, it doesn't have the problems people mentioned using this system. The video captured is good without lost frames and the audio is acceptable although the volume is a bit low. I used a third party software to edit my movies (that means I only use Dazzle's included software to capture and output to valid format) and I used Nero to burn VCDs out of the movies.
