Move over Palm, Sharp has got the right idea!
I have been the owner of two Palm Pilots. They served me well for the many years I owned them. When my Palm went dead after using it for 4 years I decided to look hard at the market. I decided want I really needed and used was Schedule, To Dos and Memos. Beyond that I wanted to select and capture some emails as I found saving all of them and syncing them up was a chore not worth keeping up with. I discoverd the Sharp OZ-770PC. It has everything I need including a much easier to read display and an easy to use keyboard. I also discovered it was easy enough to create a folder in my Outlook for selected emails and using some free ware from MyWizard.com a site provided for users of this organizer I was able to get those selected emails I really needed. I highly recommend this organizer as long as wireless is not your direction and your not buying it to play golf games and such. You can't beat this value, nothing short of remarkable!

    Great Organizer!!
This organizer is so great I don't know where to start. Pros: Easy Typing, you can type so much in the memo, Todo is easy to use, as well as Calculator, Calendar, Schedule, and everything else, plus you can download games and data via mywizard.com and sync with Microsoft Outlook. Also has Local AND World Time, so if you're a traveller and you're in Paris, you can see what time it is at home.

Cons: Conversion not very easy to use.

This organizer is so easy to use!! Much better than Palms and Cybikos (Cybikos have a little keyboard, and one button is about the sizer of 1/4 of a watermelon seed). Like I said, conversion is not so easy to use, and the manual didn't make it any clearer. When I thought I figured it out, I went to a web site to check it, and it wasn't even close! I like the fact that you can type so much in a memo, so it's almost like a word processor. Their games are great, you should go to MyWizard.com to see what they have!! Some of their games are Minesweeper and Alien Hunter. You can create your own programs too! They have Infotogo, which enables you to copy and paste text from your computer into your organizer. Syncing with the DayTimer desktop software and Microsoft Outlook is easy, plus you can backup your data to the computer. This is an excellent organizer, much better than Palms, and I would highly reccommend this to a student or a businessman.

    Great basics!
This is my second electronic organizer. The first, a Psion, was fancier, with a touch screen, more memory, and much fancier OS. But it's downfall was that it used a NiMh battery, which was non-replaceable, and wouldn't hold a charge within about 6 months. The Sharp uses AA alkalines. I'm still on my first set after a month; no recharges, no hassles.

The Sharp was very easy to learn. It can store all the different types of files the Psion did albeit in a simpler OS manner, has plenty of memory although its just 3 MB, and the keyboard is very large compared to anything else that expensive PDA's are offering. It's backlight is a joy, and it's been 100% reliable. What's not to love?

    • Replaces or complements the USB HotSync cradle that comes with the Visor Deluxe

    too long and wrong product
it took me a month to get my order and then it is the wrong cradle. the seller did not specify which cradle this was for in his discription and i recieved the wrong color i recieved metal gray not "ICE". all i can say is thanks for nothing!

    USB or Serial
Excellent cradles either way. I use the USB cradle at home and a serial one at work. You can't tell the difference in speed. The hot sync button on the cradle works like a champ.

Must have for Win NT or non-USB equiped PC Owners
This is a must if you don't have a USB port, or if your running Win NT. Goes without saying that synching with a serial device isn't as fast as with the USB cradle, but it does get the job done. I use the USB cradle at home and the serial cradle at the office.

Case Logic Koskin CD Organizer (200/100-Capacity)

    Slightly plastic-y construction, but useful
No surprises here - functional and works well for my needs, storage compartments seem to be non-abrasive on the CDs. My one suggestion would be for the CD pages to be removable, so that one can rearrange/reorganize one's collection more easily. As it stands, the plastic 3 ring binder post does not open to allow pages to be removed and shuffled around.

    almost perfect...almost
i'm basically pleased with the purchase...it does what it's supposed to. the materials and construction are pretty decent and i've found that you can squeeze the slimmer liner-notes into the same sleeves as the cd's [in front of course so you don't scratch the read-side of the cd] which increases the capacity of the case. there's a flap on the inside which holds the binder in place and doubles as an interior pocket if need be. although i don't really tote cd's around with me, i'd feel confident that if i did, this case would keep them secure and unscathed. my only major criticism is that in the picture, it appears that the case uses a standard 3 d-ring binder mechanism which is not the case. you can't remove and re-insert pages which is, in my estimation, a major design flaw for obvious reasons. if you're buying this case to catalogue a big collection that pretty much stays put, i'd look into those packages of individual pages that fit ordinary binders. i would not reccommend this case for dvd's as the sleeves are too short to hold the notes which i like to keep - hell i paid for them, right?

    Great for storing cd's
I got to the point in my cd collection that i had so many cd jewel cases i didn't know what to do with them. These Caselogic binders are the perfect answer. The amount of space you save is enormous, plus, how else could you transport 200 cd's around, you would need a big box if you still kept them in a jewel case. I have the leather covering instead of the Koskin, I think it looks a bit better. Either way though, if you have a lot of cd's this is the best binder out there.

Can I use a TRENDnet 10/100 Mbps PCMCIA Fast Ethernet Card ?
I bought a TRENDnet 10/100 Mbps PCMCIA Fast Ethernet Card to use it with a Compaq Notebook. Can I use this card with the Compaq iPAQ PC Card Expansion Pack in a pocket PC iPAQ 3630?

    Do you need this?
This expansion pack for the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC will extend the features of your iPAQ -- taking it from the toy catetory to a productivity tool.

You will need this accessory if you want to:

    - Use the PC Cards you currently own, such as a modem, ethernet card, wireless card, cell phone modem, barcode scanner, etc.

    - Have the only device currently available that includes additional battery power. The iPAQ has a non-removable battery. This is the only way to add battery to the iPAQ, short of building your own batter extender and lugging it around. The extra battery is required to support the power needs of a PC Card.

This expansion pack is bigger than the compact flash expansion pack -- it adds 3.5cm thickness and 132 grams of weight to your iPAQ, more than doubling its thickness.

You want this if you currently have PC cards that you'd like to use with or iPAQ or if there is a card that you want to use (such as a wireless one) that is not available in Compact Flash format.

Bulky is true, but very usefull......
This sleeve is bulky. There are reasons though. For one, you get a battery built-in that powers the adapters or storage devices without draining the main iPAQ battery source. This pack also has a power port that allows you to plug-in and charge the PDA battery and its own.

I bought this expansion pack to run the Compaq WL110 wireless LAN adapter, so I am a bit envious of the Toshiba e740 Pocket PC that has wireless built-in. Even the latest iPAQ does not come standard with wireless built-in. I suppose Compaq wants to continue the Expansion Pack sales.

There is a wide variety of Compaq Flash Card adapters. I would consider getting the CF card sleeve over this one if I had the choice over. The reasons would be the smaller size of the adapter cards, the standard CF memory cards which I use for a number of reasons such as digital photos and file storage, would fit natively without a CF card to PCMCIA adapter. Compaq makes a dual PCMCIA and CF card Expansion Pack. If you have the dough, that is the probably the ideal way to go.

    New PDA user--love the Platinum
Ok...I admit. I'm a brand new PDA user. I came into some money, and bought myself a Handspring Visor Platinum. And I love it.

While I won't say, "I can't figure out how I lived without it." I admit it is great.

I have owned it a week. It took me 20 minutes from walking into my house to entering data in the address book, and most of that time was spent unpacking the box.

Good points: Large memory. 8 megs is a lot. I am a law student and have downloaded alot of the laws that I work with in my classes. I have downloaded a free image viewer and a couple of images. I have 3 or 4 games and other utilities that are just for fun. And I still have about 6 megs of memory left.

Speed. I can't say much to Handspring's claim of "twice as fast as the Deluxe", but it is fast.

Quality. The thing feels good. It has a solid feel, and it has taken a week of my beating on it. The stylus is a joy, although I will get a full sized pen stylus. It would be nice if the plastic cover was a flip cover, but I can take it off the front, and put it on the back of the Platinum.

Springboard. While I haven't gotten to use it, I think it looks like a good idea.

    PalmOS. Enough said.

Bad Points: Battery Power. The battery life in the batteries that came with it are probably only going to last another week or week and a half. A rechargable battery would have been a nice addition.

Leather Case. Its good leather, but kinda cheap in its design. I'm buying a new one soon.

No flash ROM. Realistically, I don't think this will be a problem. I talked to a number of PalmOS users who really don't do much upgrading of software, and software patches work well enough. But I figured that for the sake of completeness I'd add this.

I bought the Handspring instead of the Palm models because of the Springboard module. I bought the Platinum for looks and speed. I know, speed isn't so important yet, but I suspect it will be.

Overall, I am now officially addicted to PDAs, PalmOS, and Handspring products. I will never go without one again. :)

    Handspring Visor Platinum (VPL) review
As a long-time user of PDA's (circa 1989), I must admit that the VPL, next to the Newton MessagePad, is quite affordable and versatile. And with the inclusion of the VisorPhone, I now carry only one device. Comparing the VPL to a Pocket PC is similar to comparing a Honda with a Lexus. Sure, both will perform the same function of getting from A to B, and the Lexus will carry one in style, but the Honda is more practical and less expensive to own and maintain. That's how I view the VPL. For what I want to do, the VPL does it, plain and simple. Heck, my life is in it: checkbook (Accounts & Loans), budget (QuikBudget), database (ThinkDB), eBooks and newspapers (PalmReader and AvantGo), daily notes (DayNotez), life organizer (LifeBalance and DateBk4), outlining thoughts (ShadowPlan), my office (QuickOffice), email and casual web browsing. While the VPL can do all this, not everyone would want to necessarily. The fact is, it's affordable and versatile. I can't wait for the next PDA incarnation!

    THE BOMB!!!!
Everyone should be lucky enough to own this PDA. Keeps my (...) straight!!!

Targus CompactFlash 56k Modem best kept secret.
I have had a Pretec modem, which by the way I never could get to work, and now I have a Targus. Targus is much smaller, and I had it working in 10 Minutes. A very simple setup makes it easy to get online. I played with it till the early hours, accessing all my favorite websites.I paid a little more, but it was worth it. I am using a Jornada 545 with the Targus 56k modem, and the addition of the modem has changed my whole view of the possibilities of my pocket pc.I strongly encourage any Jornada user to try the Targus 56k modem.

    Outstanding Modem!
This is an outstanding compact flash modem for pocket or handheld PC's running Windows CE version 2.0 or higher. With the Targus Compact Flash 56k v.90 Pocket Modem there is no need to set it up, just plug it in, create a connection profile and you are set and ready to browse the Web. I bought it for my Cassiopeia E-125 (perfectly compatible)and I have been surfing the net with speed and easiness. The small dimensions of the modem allow you to carry it on your own pocket or in your pocket PC Case since it is also very slim. This excellent modem is a little bit expensive yet. Anyway, and in spite of the price, this is a must if you want to stay connected to the internet with your pocket pc wherever you are.

Compatible with HP iPAQ 1945 POCKET PC?????
i need it, but i not sure if this will work with my HP 1945... somebody help me!!!!! please!!! Thanks .Mara

LandWare GoType Pro Keyboard for Palm Vx
Pros: solid keyboard with no folding -- harder to damage than the Palm rendition.
The keyboard is slightly smaller than a normal keyboard so is a little hard to type comfortably for longer entries, but for most Palm entries, it works fine.
Cons: It is larger than practical for me for most uses since I got a palm to avoid carrying a laptop/bulky stuff. So while it is nice that is one solid piece, I don't use it as much as I would if it fit in my fanny pack.

    Lots of extras
I'm really impressed with this product.

First, it's about half the price of the Palm product (which I've used) and I like this one better. I prefer the one piece (non folding) construction - can't put it in your pocket, but easily fits in a briefcase or backpack. Just feels solid, whereas the folding ones feel flimsy. Excellent docking base for the Palm, supports it really well.

It came with some nice extras I wasn't expecting. It came with a full functioned Word Processer (complete with Spell check, a thesaurus) capable of saving in .doc format, then loading directly into Word upon HotSync. If bought by itself, this software is about the same price of the keyboard - here, it's a great free bonus. I also appreciate the fact that you can HotSync directly from the keyboard, something many other models don't do.

This is a great keyboard, and truly does make the Palm function more like a mini-laptop. Well worth it.

    Great product for traveling
I use the Landware GoType! Keyboard for my Palm V, and it is just great! Not only is it great for typing, but when traveling it dobles as a hotsync cradle, it comes with cords for power and a serial cord for hot syncing.

it works, but it is not really fast...
It works, it simply works. I can pick up my pop email from any location with an analog phone connection. (watch out, many offices have digital phone systems, which will not like this little modem) And I can also send my pop email with some freeware available out there. So all in all a great product. I can even just peek on the server to see if any relevant email is waiting out there, or if it is spam and spam again. (i am using a commercial software for this feature, so be prepared to spend a bit more money) It is nice to sit in a hotel room somewhere far from home and to read email on your little palm V (or better Vx)... it feels like working on the very first macintosh. It is all very cute, and all the words in the emails seem really important. Hmm, but there must be other solutions. I could think of wireless solutions, or solutions which would use a cellphone as a wireless modem. (look ma, no wires)... This modem is a cute solution for the wired traveler. Emails feel very fuzzy and warm. And you can write them anywhere and then send them off from almost anywhere. Oh, and before i forget, yes, you can also surf the web. (using some other commercial software which is listed in the manual). Hmm, surfing the web on a palm is a completely different story. It just does not feel right. Amazon actually is quite surfable, but many other sites are not. It feels a bit like leaving the house but never crossing any streets. Not quite there yet, it seems. :*) Get it, if you insist. :*) I am keeping mine. I like it.

    A must-have for all Palm V owners
I love gadgets. My Palm Vx became a constant companion and vital part of my wardrobe, and the modem follows close behind. On business trips or any other time I'm on the road, it has served me very well. The ability to keep up to date on e-mail, news, and HotSync stuff while on the road, combined with a pre-paid phone card, means that I'll never need to lug around a giant laptop! Woohoo! (...)

    Palm V
Excellent service from Palm, shipped immediately, also at his expense shipped accessories as we didn't exchange e-mails in time, would recommend them highly.very prompt.
