Overheats
This charger could not charge the Visor without overheating after 15 minutes. Either it had to be unplugged and set aside for 10 minutes, or a fan had to be directed against it to be able to charge the Visor. The housing is poorly constructed.

For Diabetics using the Freestyle Bloodsugar Tracker Module
from Therasense, this provides the flexibility to travel! The cradle for the Handspring Visor Pro that came with this blood sugar monitor/Diabetes Management System stays hooked up to the back of my computer so my test results can be hot-synched to the computer; it is awkward to unplug. I wear an Insulin Infusion Pump 24/7 and the Tracker lets me fine-tune my daily insulin doses to my actual blood sugars. With this small, lightweight cord that plugs into any electric outlet, I don't have to worry that the Visor battery will run down while I'm away from home. Attaches easily to Visor, no overheating problems here. Freedom!

This charger is just what I wanted for traveling
Charges as well as a cradle but is much easier to carry around with me. I read ebooks while I am away from work or home and the batteries for my prisim wear out before I have a chance to get back. I recommend this for anyone who buys a visor and is not at the office every day.

Reassuring, but...
While a nice idea, what I didn't realize was this module won't load my Palm AFTER a hard reset. I still needed to hot synch to load the MemorySafe "drivers" before the Palm and the module will exchange data.

I think it was a waste of money.

Nice insurance for your Palm Vx
I got this free when I purchased my Palm Vx over a year ago and have used it regularly. Simple to use and it works as advertised. Similar to a memory card for the XBOX, this little portable ram module lets you dump the entire contents of your Palm Vx (or selected portions) safely where you can upload it again if a crash/hard reset or general disaster occurs.

The module comes with a CD with driver software to enable the unit and to give you the ability to set parameters and manipulate data. Keep in mind that this is not like a Sony Memory Stick or the new Palm SD cards...this is strictly for backups and cannot be used as a "memory extension" where you shuffle data to and from like a mini-hard drive while working.

Is it something you'll need? It depends on how often you use your Palm Vx, the amount of valuable data you store and your proximity to PC/sync cradle access. If you travel alot, the module is a worthwhile investment since you can get you Palm Vx up and running again without access to a PC or cradle. If you primarily keep your Palm Vx at home or shuffle it between home and office where you have a sync cradle at each PC (like I do), then my advice would be not to bother since you'll more than likely have 2 concurrent sets of data to backup from.

That said, I use mine often and keep data backed up regularly in the event that I ever download that one bad app that renders my Palm useless. For the low price, it's definitely something to consider getting.

Secure backup
Password-protected, this gadget offers the best secure backup around. It's not helpful in a cold crash situation becuse some software must be installed on the handheld before the gizmo can be accessed; but it does eliminate the need to store sensitive files on your PC, a serious problem for some of us.
To defrag, recycle first and then reload files from the gizmo.

Nice case. Wish it had a belt clip
I just got the case. It has a nice feel to it and is very well constructed. I'm happy with the purchase. This price is very good.

Pros

Heavy Duty Zipper.

Well made.

Great protection.

Stylish

Cons

No belt clip. I don't really miss it but it would be nice to free up my hands and stick it on my belt. (but then again, I will look less like a geek.)

Makes Palm III more bulky. Difficult to keep in pocket.

Not much room inside to store anything besides a business card and a couple of scraps of paper.

Velcor mount for Palm III not very secure.

I love it!
I just got my Palmglove (and a 3-pack of the nice metal stylus)in the mail today, and I love it. It seems to be really well made (no unfinished edges or leftover sewing threads)and very sturdy protection for my Palm IIIxe. Though it provides plenty of protection by itself, the great thing about it is that it holds the unit very snugly with or without the flip top attached -- a plus if you want extra protection for the screen. Not too bulky, a pretty sporty package. Like other reviewers, I think a belt clip would complete the package.

Great Product..Great Value, and a lifesaver!
I have had my PalmIIIe for a month, and this case has saved its life twice. The first time i left it in my tent all day while camping, and it got really wet. The case, however, has a water-resistant inside, and spared the life of my palm. The second time it fell off my kitchen counter, a fall that cracked my freinds screen. The padded case once again saved the day. It also has a nifty spot on the inside for money or whatever, and I use it as my wallet. The price is very reasonable, too (Look at the prices of some other cases) And it is by far the best looking.

P.S.--My freind with the cracked screen bought one soon after!

room for improvement
Yes these styluses (styli?) are perfectly function and more importantly they fit in the HP Jornada cover; however a company that made brightly colors ones would win my dollars. I often write in places that are not well-lit (it's impossible to see the screen in sunlight), but it I drop my stylus in a restaurant or bar or on a train it is hard spot and find. I wish someone would make a bright red, orange or green stylus. Or better yet, how about glow in the dark?

Well, they never run out of ink!
And they fit in the slot for my Jornada 548. Of course, I stopped losing styli the day I got this 3 pack, so they just sit in my desk & car, waiting for their turn.

HP Jornada 540 Series Stylus Pens
Well, I bought this recently simply because I got sick of having to retrieve the stylus (which came with the unit) from the hood, whenever I was syncing or charging the unit in the cradle. So, I bought the set of THREE stylus pens. Granted, it's very helpful to have another ONE pen. Yet, for some reason they are sold in threes, for 12.99 a set. The other two are sitting in a drawer doing nothing (and probably will be doing nothing for another 10 years). Other than that gripe, the extra stylus pen is very helpful!

A must-have for a 540-series Jornada
I've never used the serial cradle, because I got this USB cradle when I bought my Jornada, so I can't compare the two, but I can say that this is definitely worth the money, whether you purchase it as part of a package or separately. USB connectivity is a must these days, especially if you intend to sync your Jornada with one or more PCs. That's how I use mine, and I find that the USB cradle allows me to quickly sync my Outlook information and other files with my PC, in addition to charging it when it is in the cradle. The weighted base helps keep the cradle in place and allows me to keep it under my desk on top of my tower PC when it's charging.

However, as with most products, the USB cradle is not perfect. I share the concerns of other reviewers about the fact that the screen stays on while it's charging (wonder if setting the power-off setting to a lower number would help; I've not tested that before). Also, I would have preferred a cradle that would help you align your Jornada with the connectors - this is more like a cell phone cradle because you slide your Jornada into it. HP does advise that you use both hands to do this. I think it would have been better to make the connector work more like a game controller or other peripheral, with the connectors housed within the cradle instead of having one side of them visible, so you could plug the Jornada into the cradle securely.

One thing to keep in mind - occasionally, my PC has had trouble locating my Jornada, making it difficult to sync my items. Every time this has happened, all I had to do was reboot the Jornada and the PC recognized it on the next synchronization attempt. Make sure you know how to do a soft reset on your Jornada and you should be fine.

Pays for itself
A USB cradle or cable is a must have for your Jornada. Its SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the serial cable the 540 comes with. Especially if you transfer a lot of MP3s or web pages, this cradle will pay for itself with the time you save rather quickly.

The only downside is that it doesn't come with a power cable. You either have to use the one your 540 came with and plug it into the cradle or buy another one.

Two is better than one!
I bought a second USB cradle (one comes with the 545) so that I could use it at work. It's much better than the serial cable (faster and you don't use up a serial port). It integrates with the AC adapter so that you can keep the PocketPC charged while it's on the stand. The AC Adapter is sold separately, so be sure to buy one of these too if you don't have one already.

HP recommends to use the USB cradle with only Win98 or W2K. Get the serial version if you are running Win95.

The following comments have nothing to do with the cradle per se, but do affect how you use it...

The only drawback that I've seen is that the screen will stay on while the unit is in the cradle and connected to your PC (it won't power off automatically). I'm afraid that the screen will burn in if left on for several hours while it is in the cradle. You can either turn it off (this disconnecting from the PC) or blank the screen by pushing the light/button on the top of the PocketPC. I prefer to blank the screen so that it will stay connected to my PC and continue to sync information automatically as I make changes to Outlook.

Because I'm synching at work, I now have three identical copies of my contact information because the PocketPC carries additions and changes back and forth as I synch at home and at work. This is really nice as I totally rely on Outlook to keep track of people. If you want to, you can set filters so that "business" contacts won't replicate to your home PC and vice versa but both will exist on the PocketPC. This is also nice, but a pain to maintain the categories for each contact entry.

...
I was excited about this product when i first saw it because i needed another cradle and i wanted to take my palm on the road. I though the idea of using batteries to power the Palm Vx was great. I got the BattPac and started using it. At first it worked great. After two sets of batteries the batteries started falling out becuase the clips holding them in are made of very thin metal that bends beneath the weight of the battery. Then the clip on the battery cover cracked off. ...

I would hope that... the product would be of much higher quality.

Did its job
I've seen friends carry around their palms, and I've considered obtaining one of these toys along with the battery charger. It seems more cost efficient to simply order one of these in preference to buying an endless supply of batteries.

Fantastic accessory!
This is going to make my life so much easier. I had been taking my recharger/cradle to and from the office every day to synch/charge at home, and this nifty accessory now solves that problem.

Furthermore, I do a lot of international travel and was worried about recharging/synching my Palm while on the road and also avoiding dangerous fluctuations in voltage that could fry the unit. Requiring only 2 AA batteries (available everywhere), I now never have to worry about running out of juice.

For those who travel, this is a must!

It's Mostly OK...
I originally bought this joystick to play Tetris but there are not enough controls for the game. I can't turn the piece around with this joystick. It's good for everything else.

It's ok, but not great for the money
I got this a while back for my Prism. I didn't realize at the time it was just a faceplate that pushes the application buttons on the Visor, so I was a little disappointed--seems like a lot to pay for that. Still, it was nice for games, making gameplay faster since the joystick appearance is more intuitive for games than the buttons alone. The SnapNType by TT Tech is way better though, it's an actual interface that snaps into the port on the Visor and has a Palm OS driver, rather than just being a button-pusher. Hopefully Amazon will carry that soon!

Hmmm...
This was a well built product. The only problem lies with the fact that you are paying [price], for a piece of plastic with buttons that you push to push other buttons. It doesn't really help on all games either - some don't have configuration that work with the d-pad. But if you would like to impress people and if they flaunt their "Game Boy Advance" at you, just get an emulator and you have just one-upped them. Worth a buy if are a gamer.

Oh yeah, It comes with Zap2016! This buy the way, in my opinion, is worth just as much as the gameface if not more.

iConcepts Hotsync Charger
Not impressed. Charged fine but the adapter to my iPAQ was not secure at all. Any slight motion of the cable and the pda lost connection to my computer. So, unless you plan on not bumping your cable or ipaq EVER while syncing, i'd steer away from this. Also ran into power issues with the iConcepts cradle.

Works Great
Overall I've been pretty impressed with my ipaq acccessories from iConcepts. I travel a lot and didn't want to tote around my desktop charger. Then I found this guy that charges with the USB port. I don't sync it w/ my laptop when I travel (although I should) but it charges just fine. The cable is a tad stiff, and I'm careful not to bend it

Convenient But..
Very handy idea works good but connect is not secure (iPAQ 3630). On an older lap top it shuts down and pops up an error that the iPAQ was drawing too much power. All in all it beats the bulky cradle.

Different stokes for Different folks
A little less than i expected. Not necessary a good look for such a nice piece of equipment. Made the Palm Pilot look pretty cheap. But if you really, really need a change of pace, they are not the worst product you could buy. Plus they give you 3 extra stylists and Graffiti Alphabet stickers.

Good looking, but otherwise useless
If you really need to replace the shade that came with your Palm III, get this product. Otherwise, it is totally frivolous and has no real electronic value. It's a shame that Amazon will ship it at the price of electronics, though.

Great way to personalise your palm
Ever noticed the problem of a sea of palm pilots sitting on a table when you go to a friend's house. Well, that won't be a problem when yours has one of these bright covers on it. Adds a bit of fun, and you can pick one to suit your mood or your clothes!

A not so good Internet connection
Well, it is very useful if you use it to download emails or send them while on the road, but.. If you want to surf the web for a long time... I do not reccomend it, it disconnects after a determinate amount of time. I prefer a wireless option, that is, using your cell phone as an wireless modem, this way it doesn't matter how much time you spend online...

PalmModem Connectivity Kit in question.
To use the Palm Modem you have to belong or sign up for unlimited service to: AT&T, Compuserve, Earthlink, PSINet or if networked at work, Unix Verio Windows NT RAS server.

When connecting to the Avantgo.com, the modem will sync to the site for just download enough informtion for the e-mails or web site. It appears in order to go to another web clipping, the modem has to re-connect, which seems like a hassle.

However, for limited internet usage, and could also be used for stock market symbols, the modem will connect to the web clipping and then shut off.

The modem has limited uses and is only a land line with no wireless use. The modem also uses 2 tripple A batteries, without recharable option.

Reliable Connection
Ever since Palm began releasing modem products for their PDAs, having one as a backup connectivity device has been a priority for me.

Sure you can do a litle web surfing but that is not its' true calling or intention. Checking your eMail is what this modem is all about and where it shines like the true star it is. Setup is easy and the supplied software is not the best but will get you where you want to go.

Battery life is great and that makes it always a good device to carry along on any business trip.
