Poor Design
Great case for the iPAQ Pocket PC!
The little PC that could!I am not a computer geek and therefore didn't expect anything other than a round trip back to the store to return the unit (I had gotten it as a birthday gift from my wife).
In short order, I was up and running. I was able to actually swap Excel files, download outside programs, etc. from my laptop in addition to using all the normal built in computer functions. This, in conjunction with using the voice recorder, handwriting note taker and so on made me a believer.
A final note...I compared the Compaq IPAC3835 with its HP counterpart (since they share the same OS and price). The Compaq was far and away the better item. The screen is about 10% larger; the recorder playback is far superior; the overall appearance is better.

Works smoothlyAnyway, I got this cable because my office PC runs NT, and it doesn't support USB. The serial cable works perfectly. It doesn't charge your Palm (I have the T2), unlike the USB charge/hotsync cable, and speed is low compared to USB, but it gets the work done.
There is, however, one caveat: you cannot transfer MP3 files with the serial cable, because Real Player cannot recognize it. Palm should really move away from Real and opt for something better; Real is all about bloatware and spyware -- I don't know a single soul who likes its intrusive "message center" annoyance.
The workaround is you'll need to copy the MP3 files to the SD card directly, into the "\music" folder on the card. If you have a laptop with an SD slot, you'll be fine. But chances are if you are still running NT, your laptop won't have the slot. Also all SD card readers are USB. So in the end, it's probably best to upgrade, or borrow your friend's win2k or XP machine.
In short, this cable is cheap and light and seems durable (if you take care in disconnecting the Palm).

I wanted to like this neat little gizmo...The keyboard is great--using 2 thumbs is infinitely faster than Graffiti. The screen is somewhat easier to read than a Palm IIIe.
BUT-- for almost the same price as a Wizard now, you can get a Palm IIIe, which is tried & true and far from obsolete.
Why am I returning such a neat organizer?
1. It is impossible to program in weekly occuring events without writing in each week at a time. (Wizard's customer support confirmed this.)
2. While the Palm will display my entire day's schedule at the push of 1 button, the Wizard will do so only after pressing at least 5 or 6. (3 buttons to get to today's schedule & another 2 or 3 to scroll down the entire day) This also was confirmed when I spoke to Sharp's technical support.
3. The desktop DayTimer software is inefficient and interfaces poorly with the Wizard. (For example, you can put weekly recurring appointments on the desktop, but it won't transfer to the Wizard.)
4. Yes, there is a Wizard website with additional programs, but they don't even begin to compare with Palm's. I sure appreciate the versatility of the Palm now. I'm going to hunker down & get better at graffiti, and spend the same money I spent on a Wizard to get a keyboard attachment for my Palm.
LOVE this organizer... but problem with screenThe problem is the screen goes bad. Vertical lines show up. I believe it must be too sensitive to heat. VERY VERY disapointing as this is by far the best organizer I have ever used.
Can anyone recommend a similar device without the screen problems???
Try it!This is a first rate product. I have average sized men's hands and I can touch type using the keyboard as long as I can rest the organizer on a flat surface.
The memo section is limited to 2k. And as another reviewer noted, it's annoying not to have warning when the limit is reached. But it's effortless to carry this 7oz organizer around all of the time. I often use the memo feature to take notes in lecture situations. I use it to compose letters outside the office. What makes all of this practical is that the organizer docks with any P.C. so it's easy to transfer data to my computer at work or home.
The reason I don't give the Sharp Wizard 5 stars is that the interface is kind of clunky. Another reviewer noted that if you have a reminder such as a birthday at the top, you have to scroll through the hours of 12 AM, 1 AM, 2 AM ... to 9AM to see the rest of your schedule for the day. With all due respect to the 3rd shift, I doubt many Sharp Wizard users are making appointments at 3 AM in the morning!
But here's a tip. When I have a reminder notice at the top of the screen on a particular day, I "book" an appointment that lasts from midnight to 8:00 called "sleep". This eliminates having to scroll to see appointments for that day.

Had to return mine, screen doesn't respondI did get my new, replacement from J&R. I was charged for it and I'm still waiting for them to credit me for the one I returned to them. The new one works MUCH better! It's a pleasure to use. I've only let the battery run down once; it stays pretty good, 4 or 5 days with normal use. This screen works the way it should. It responds well and it's really quick. I restored from a backup on my CF card and was up and running in seconds. I really love it. I like the CF and SD card slots and the fast processor. I like it much better than the iPAQ 5455 I had.
I love mine, more pros than cons

It worked with my Palm m105I run a Mac operating system, and the camera works well on it. I had some problems finding the pictures on my hard drive, but I called the (800) number for Kodak, and a representitive assisted me in finding my photos.
As far as the quality of photos, I bought it to take pictures of my wife and children to e-mail to the grandparents. It works great for that. It is easy to use, although sometimes the pictures are blurry. I don't expect to win any photo contests with it, but that's not what I bought it for.

Here's some help though if your having problems:
I had problems at first but what you need to do is backup all your information. Then do a HARD RESET: AFter that Don't re-load anything back onto your palm EXCEPT the PalmPix Program (goto the program files folder and then delete all the .prc files so they won't go back on or just move them for now) Then re-load the other programs, this is what I had to do and have since had NO problems.

A waste of money.I waxed my screen. That's right WAXED IT! I had a bottle of ArmorAll Fast Wax handy. That is liquid, squirt it on car wax. I used a little dap and rubbed it in. I works GREAT! The screen is slippery and smooth as silk. It seems to repel finger prints and dust and wipes clean very easy. And it is cheap!

Bad designed and poor quality
Just a tiny step upThe case has a hole in the clip where you're supposed to be able to attach the USB cable, but the cable head doesn't fit so it's always coming out. So to synch the iPaq with my PC, I have to remove it from its case.
The case looks cool, but that's about all it does. I'm wishing I'd gone for the leather case, and I don't recommend this one.
Lacks alot.
