Should be considered by experts only
it works pretty good
Great way to get the most out of your PDAOk here are the caveats. 1) It's a little slow loading webpages, but that could be due to my pda hardware or the network at my school which I found to be slow using the wifi on my laptop. 2) I once had a problem that it suddenly wasn't recognizing the networks. However I reinstalled the driver and it worked perfectly. 3) Sandisk doesn't yet have a driver for Palm OS, a problem that my Palm friends complain about relentlessly. But it serves them right for choosing Palm, right?
Nevertheless, I give this card a 5 star rating because the flaws are rather minor and in the ever-important areas of cost and convenience, it surpassed all my expectations.

Two defective units in a row/unacceptable copy protectionI returned the second unit to Amazon and ordererd a Garmin 76CS. I will throw away the Magellan accessories I ordered to give my father-in-law.
Unless I have confirmation that Magellan's hardware and software quality control have improved a lot I will not consider them for any future acquisitions.
Warning: Product does not meet specificationsHOWEVER, the specs say that the unit is IPX7 compliant, which means accidental submersion underwater for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter of water. I was in a kayak, got hit by a wave with the Meridian in my pocket, and was in less than 1 meter of water for less than 15 seconds, and water made it's way into the unit.
I sent Magellan/Thales navigation an email and gave them a call but was not given much help, even though I own multiple Magellan products (including the GPS companion, etc...). They noted that I could have it serviced for $150, which is what an new unit cost (this was not the platinum edition, but it is the same form factor and same case). All customer service would tell me is that sometimes water may enter through the keypad area. Well, if water enters through the keypad area, how can they advertise that it is IPX7 compliant?
I may be an isolated incident. However, with the customer service I received, I don't think I would ever buy another Magellan product, and will probably get rid of the rest of my Magellan products. I think the product design, features, usability, and intuitiveness is great, just the product does not perform up to expectations or promise. I would also consider customer service as well.
Super productPros: I will never be lost again, Expandable memory, Color screen, Turn by turn directions, Nice sized unit that easily fits in my jacket pocket, Quick to pick up satellites, Intuitive menus
Cons: Battery life could be better, Comes with a serial connection for the computer A USB type would have been been better since most computers do not use serial anymore, Magellan is vague about availability of map updates but so is Garmin so it's probably the norm for GPS companies.

- Stylish leather protection for your Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC

Only for covering a naked iPAQThere have been reports of some iPAQ owners managing to stretch the leather enough to use it with the CF expansion pack, but others have reported that the increased pressure on the iPAQ itself has resulted in problems with the screen. If you do decide to use this with a CF pack, be sure you use something other than your iPAQ to stretch it. Of course, once you've done this, you can't use it to hold a pack-less device.
Overall quality of the case is pretty good. This gets a lower rating because it doesn't work with most iPAQ accessories - cradle, expansion packs, etc.
Too Troublesome
Buy it until something better comes alongOne possibly major problem: I use screen protectors (Fellowes 98026 Writeright for Pocket PC, available right here, buy some now-you need them) to keep the screen from scratching. Every time I put my iPaq in my pocket for a long period of time, the coarse inner lining of this case scuffs the protector so badly I have to replace it. It may or may not do the same thing to an unprotected screen, I don't know and I'm not going to find out. If this was lined with a soft flannel it would be much better.

The official leather case is definately a better product. The metal case is solid and does its job well. However, it has the following major CONs:
1. Block half of the IR port.
2. Hard to push out when removing and ofter leave black marks on the back of the unit.
3. Need to remove the flip cover when using the metal case.
It is a good product compare to any generic case. But as a Viso edge owner, I'll go with the leather case.
Nice looking, has to be pushed up for chargingIt's not as protective as some of the zippered vinyl or leather cases for sale, but it beats the cover that comes with the edge. For one thing, it won't fly off if you drop the Edge. I also like the little window in front that allows you to see the silent alarm go off. You can beam synchronize easily, just by opening the cover flat (took me a while to figure that out though.)
On the other hand, you have to slide it up a bit to use the regular charger, or even the travel charger. But I don't see how that's much different from other cases, where you still have to take the Edge out to charge. Because the Edge snaps into the case, it takes a little force with your thumbs to slide the case up and down, and yes, it could shoot off suddenly if you apply too much force. I also wish there were a case that could accommodate the module!
The main thing about this case is that it looks pretty sexy and goes well with the Sumdex silver padded case, which is also matte metallic with dots. I have put some velcro on the back of this case, attaching it to the inside of the sumdex. This way there's both rigid support and padding, and I don't have to get the velcro adhesive gummed onto the back of my Edge.

Such Potential -- Gone!!!
Have had it for over 3 years and love it!The size of the wallet isn't a problem for me, since I don't seem to wear the kinds of clothes that have big enough pockets for even a slim PDA anyway. It fits in briefcases and in all but the tiniest of purses, so it's small enough for me. After close to 4 years of daily use and overstuffing, it's finally starting to wear out, so I'm on the lookout for a new one for myself and one for a family member who also has a Palm III.

WARNING
Not up to Palm quality standardsFor a premium brand they should have looked harder to find a better product to complement their PDAs instead of making a quick buck on a cheap product probably made in China.
Do it before you ruin your screen!A little difficult to apply, but if you carefully apply one edge first and slowly roll it on while smoothing with the included cloth, you can get it on perfectly. It will make the screen slightly less bright and can look poorly when the palm is off, but when the palm is on they are unnoticeable. Believe me. As the owner of at least 8 different Palm models, this is an excellent investment in your $300+ Palm. Get em!
