It does it's job
The radio is great for what it is. I bought it because I wanted a cb that I can use in more than one truck. The only draw-back I found is when the power cable and the cable for the magnet-mount antenna are both attached it can be hard to handle. I like the fact that the radio has all the additional stuff like the 10 NOAA channels and the high/low power switch and that the display is digital. This is a good buy but if you are going to use this in only one car or truck I would go with a hard mount cb because you don't have to hold the whole thing. But over all a good buy for the money.

very clear and strong reception
This is a great unit. I had no trouble understanding a guy that lives in Boonville (30 miles) from me. The NOAA weather info is very helpful for vactions and long travel. When using the magnet mount antenna the reception was very clean.

The best cobra road trip cb radio
Im glad my dad bought this product because we take two cars on trips and we have two cb radios, i could hear each other very good and we could get a good listen of the weather too. we got A great deal even used. it was worth the money!!!!!!!

"Breaker one-nine. . ."
Yeah, 10-4, good buddy, I've got a Cobra by the head. That's right: the Cobra Weatherband CB Radio.

By the way, what's your twenty? I just passed a hungry bear with a radar gun over by the 299 marker, and it's not Krispy Kremes he's cravin'.

Say, this Cobra radio's got 40 channels. Let's drop down to channel one-five, 10-4? It's easy for me to do, good buddy, 'cause all of the controls are right here on my handset. Why, this radio's as sweet as the pickled pig's feet you can order at Paul's Pork Palace on the state line.

What's that? Come back, good buddy, you say you want to know what the weather's gonna do? You're in luck, 'cause my Cobra CB radio has access to 10 weather channels. Looks like we got a squall line formin' right on our backside; you'd best put the petal to the metal and catch up with us or you're gonna get wet. And don't worry about that pesky bear: I'm westbound in my Freightliner, along with two bullhaulers and Krazy Ken, who's drivin' a tankard full of diesel. We got us a little convoy, 10-4, so you bring your little Chevy in here with us and we'll be your rockin' chair!

So come on up, good buddy, and I'll tell you more about my Cobra Weatherband CB Radio. Remember to keep the bugs off your grill and the lot lizards off your tail, and let's roll this truckin' convoy!

Quite a Handful
The Cobra 75 WX ST Weatherband CB provides an incredible amount of functionality in a very small package. Installation is fast and easy - with a couple tools, your antenna mounted, and little skill, you can have this radio up and running in an hour or two.

CB radios are limited to low-power broadcasting at 4 watts or less. This radio provides maximum power allowed by law and is capable of some pretty incredible range under the right conditions. With a properly tuned, high-quality antenna, I have had coversations with others using the same radio up to 9 miles away. Under normal circumstances, 1-2 miles is more realistic.

As for features, this one has several:

- Scan (all 40 channels in sequence)
- Dual Scan (two channels of your choice)
- Memory
- Lock (so the hand controls don't get reset by accident)
- Weatherband (10 NOAA frequencies)
- Last 3 channels
- SoundTracker (like Dolby noise reduction)

I use mine in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler where there is little extra space for another device. It fits perfectly on my console with the small box hidden away inside.

I can listen to truckers while I am on the highway, talk to my friends when we go off-highway, or scan the channels for both when driving to and from the trails. In the two years I have used mine, it has never given me any problems. It is very sturdy and should stand up to hard use.

I purchased the optional external speaker so that it would be easier to hear but many people find the unit works well right out of the box!

There might be bigger, badder CB's out there, but this one is a peach!

A MUST HAVE CB Radio - GET ONE!!!!
After researching CB radios to put in my 4x4 for an extended 3 week road trip/off road trip, I purchased this CB radio 1 1/2 years ago because it takes up very little space and it has all of the controls conveniently integerated into the handset/speaker. (perfect for manual transmission drivers like me) Also, it has a weather radio (which picks up transmissions from the National Weather Service around the US), which some other models I considered did not have. If you travel around the country, you will use the weather radio function occasionally. The CB itself also works great, of course - I traveled with a large group and was on the CB all day long and the speaker is clear and loud in my noisy vehicle. Gadget lovers, there is not a CB radio out there as cool, completely functional, and space saving as this one - perfect for those who do not want to drill into their vehicle to mount a large cb unit, the "box" for this unit is about double the size of a box of matches, tiny enough to easily fit under any dashboard or in a glovebox, out of sight from thieves and out of your way. And because all of the controls are on the handset you will be a safer driver as you do not have to take your eyes off the road to adjust the cb controls. The quality and finish and value of the unit is excellent - this CB is a total winner - I wish I could give it higher than a 5 star rating - if you need a CB, get this one!

Replacement CA-25 Info
The Radio works well for a plain Jane CB Handie Talkie. Other reviews state that a CA-25 is a hard item to find. I am using a 12VDC@500 mah AC to DC adapter I had in the junk box for a charger. The Voltage is up about 15-16V unloaded which the 9 nicads at 10.8-12 Volts after internal circuit drop yields a safe slow charge rate to charge the nicads overnight. I found that the charge LED gets dim after the radio is "charged". This has worked well for a radio that is rather inexpensive and works well for the price. Other than a squirt of contact cleaner on the volume pot.. I have had not problems with mine..

Let me know if u find the charger... I need one too... lol.
If you find the ca25 for the hh28... please let me know... on here or whatever... thanx.

Cobra HH-28 review
This is a very high quality radio for the price. The range and clarity are great. The only problem I have is that I can't find a CA-25 charger for the unit. Any ideas? ....... Thanks.

Excellent CB
This CB is perfect for any person interested in CB radios. Mounted it in my 94 Ford Explorer easily. Every aspect of the CB is useful. The dynamic squelch is very useful for beginners when they're not quite sure how to set the squelch just right. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a CB.

My first CB Radio
This unit looks and works great. Installation was easy and the performance has been great. Has all the adjustments that I was looking for plus the weather channels. I didn't really want the weather channels at the time of purchase, but I'm glad I have them now.

The cosmetics are great -- chrome dials, silver face, green back-lighting, analog signal meter.

The unit is not a compact unit, but I was able to fit it under the radio in my '96 Ford Ranger without too much trouble. The 9' microphone cord seemed really long to me when I saw that on the spec sheet, but it is actually about perfect.

There are a couple of downsides: The Dynamic Squelch Control is completely useless. As far as I can tell, it just automatically sets the squelch to a higher-than-appropriate level. With DSC on, you miss all low-powered transmissions and some high-powered ones. DSC works great if you're only interested in a ~300' radius. I never turn mine on.

The other downside is that it's nearly impossible to determine the knob positions by sight. That is, you can't easily look down and see that the volume is at 1/2 and squelch is at 1/8, etc.

Neither of these downsides are that big of a deal, though.

BTW, I use the RF Gain control much more than squelch to fine tune my reception. Don't buy a CB radio without RF Gain.

This thing has great clarity, both transmitting and receiving. However, make sure not to skimp on your antenna.

Great Radio
I had this radio in my car and worked great. It is a Clear talker ... but remeber , to recieve and transmit well you must have a good antenna. A good radio is useless without a good antenna.

Outstanding Buy!!
An outstanding CB radio for my Jeep. For under $40, there is no reason to purchase a higher priced model for your portable needs. I would suggest a magnetic roof top mount antenna for increased reception. However, the factory antenna is adequate for 3 to 5 mile reception on level terrain. This model accepts ear buds which greatly extends battery life because you are able to monitor at much lower volume. A must for travelers.

Fabuelous
This product will go through sleet or snow. It has 15 mile range and is a great deal. I can't believe how cheap it was.

Great Performance at a fantastic price!
We ordered two of these Midland units through Amazon and LOVE them. We use them in tandem with friends on camping and road trips and have found them reliable, light, and providing great audio clarity plus weather reports. We also got rechargable batteries and a lapel mic unit (Radio Chack) which compliment the unit's versatility. Absolutely recommend it as a first-time buy or for a more seasoned user.

Full Feature, great price
All the complaints I've read about this scanner are pretty pointless. This is the best Hand Held scanner I've ever owned. Go to Sears or Best Buy, see what HH CB's they have in, Probably just one, the Cobra 37 ST. Does that have channel scan, 5 memories, memory scan, freq. display, REAL mobile adpater not just a car power cord, NOPE. How much do they want? $40 in Best buy, and get this, $79.99 in sears, check their website.

The problems with range come with any handheld. I dont see the problem, take any hand held in a car and its range will go way down, But midland is only company that provides you with an external antenna hookup/power cord combined and make your radio the size of most mic's, you cant go wrong. The best you'll get from others is a DC power cable, but no way to connect an external car antenna to it. and they will still be full length.

You could also MOD this unit to pick up 120 channels CB (all you need to do is solder one connection...) if your more experienced, you can mod it to pick up 400 channels (dont believe me, try a search engine and type "Midland CB Mod"...

This scanner is the BEST on the market, and I cant belive the price. Would be nice if it has USB/LSB but hey, you cant get everything. It covers all the bases.

GREAT RADIO
This is a great radio. It is really easy to use in a car and out of a car. If using in a car you should buy an external. The attached antenna doesn't work well with the metal from the car.

Excellent CB Radio! Amzing Value.
This is an incredibly awesome CB RADIO. I have been using CB's for years. This one has great features and great reception. I was so impressed I ordered two of them! A must have for any CB Radio enthusiast.

Antenna
The previous review that mentions antennas are key to a good CB setup is correct. For a normal CB user I would recommend either the Wilson lil' Wil or the Wilson 500 antenna. Both are magnetic mount antennas. The lil' Wil antenna is a relatively small antenna and it's only around $39.00. Actually any Wilson CB antenna will be fine. Also, to do a good job at setting up your antenna you should purchase an SWR meter. They are not expensive. You only need the meter connected inline between the radio and antenna when you are adjusting the antenna. Once you are done adjusting the antenna you can take the meter out of the connection and connect the antenna directly to the radio. Don't be fooled by cheap ordinary CB antennas like you will find at radio shack. Do not settle for anything less then a Wilson antenna. Cobra and Uniden both make fabulous CB radios so either make will be fine.

Dog-gone Good Radio
Bought this CB about a month ago. Works like a dream and buries anything else I've tried. Bought an antenna that picks up weather-band to go with it, reception is crystal clear and weather-band comes in just as well. Looking for a good all around radio? This is the one to buy!

Awsome
This is a awsome Bye. The front facing speeker is the best part. It is a vary durable cb vary easy to use and small enough to fit in any car with out taking up a lot of space. The Black face alows it to blend with any color. Thank you and God Bless
