A Great RadioIf you are looking for the most bang for your buck, this is it. In this price-range you just cannot beat the performance and features of this radio. The compact size is perfect for tight spaces and the modern design looks great. I highly recomend this CB.
AntennaThe previous review that mentions antennas are key to a good CB setup is correct. For a normal CB user I would recommend either the Wilson lil' Wil or the Wilson 500 antenna. Both are magnetic mount antennas. The lil' Wil antenna is a relatively small antenna and it's only around $39.00. Actually any Wilson CB antenna will be fine. Also, to do a good job at setting up your antenna you should purchase an SWR meter. They are not expensive. You only need the meter connected inline between the radio and antenna when you are adjusting the antenna. Once you are done adjusting the antenna you can take the meter out of the connection and connect the antenna directly to the radio. Don't be fooled by cheap ordinary CB antennas like you will find at radio shack. Do not settle for anything less then a Wilson antenna. Cobra and Uniden both make fabulous CB radios so either make will be fine.
Best CB radio on the marketThis CB is the best CB I have had in my life time and I already had 3 CB's besides this one and this one is the best of them. Its unique design and mobility can set up to a cigarette lighter in your car or truck although you might want an adaptor since it only comes with the cords and nothing to plug into the cigarette lighter. When you are talking to someone else your voice goes to them crystal clear and there voice is crystal clear too. I have not found yet why it has a sound tracker system since it does not clear the signal up anyway all it does is make it louder. Although it clears it up a small bit of the signal. When talking to someone squelch becomes useful to get rid of the static. This Cb is a best buy especially with the super saver shipping and no tax

Great Starter or Back-Up !!!I am partial to Uniden anyway, however this CB is great for a first time user or as a back up to a more expensive unit. I have been using CB for about 10 years and I always make sure I have a Uniden 510 available for a back up, or use it in a second car. It has superior range when used with a good antenna and the received audio is decent. I would suggest using an external speaker unless you have a super quiet vehicle. The anl switch cuts through static really well to improve reception, although it sometimes dulls out the audio of the person you are trying to hear. You can use it with a cigarette lighter plug with an adapter from radio shack for a few dollars. They will even show you how to hook it up. It all boils down to being a great CB at a great price. Remember a simple rule of thumb... An inexpensive CB on a good antenna will perform just as well as a high-end CB on a cheap antenna. Don't forget to tune your antenna and have fun!
COOL!THIS CB ROCKS! IT REACHES UP TO 15 MILES WITH MY TINY ANTENNA, VERY COMPACT ***** STARS LOVE IT! BUT IT NOW AND EXPREIENCE THE EMOTION OF CB

increasing tech. dataIt would seem, even to a non-tech, that someone has switched your Uniden mobile/base tech. data around. Secondly, terms such as "standard" mean less than trustworthy when applied to sensitivity and selectivity. Please don't feel I berate these 2 fine products. However as I am a com/tech. I would like the actual bench test measurements for an informed recom/purchases.Also I would like to know If Cobra 1000 or 2000 series are availible as they still have the best selectivity and sensitivity that I have had on my bench yet.Thank You
good radioi've only had my homebase acouple of months and it the best one i've ever had and i've had a few over the years.

you really dont want oneThis is a good radio dont get me wrong however, let me explain. I have had one for about three years then the problems started. The main thing is now it transmits intermediately and the problem is in the new design. It seems to save money (not yours) they have put a couple of small circuit boards with non repairable components on the main board. eventually with the bouncing and jarring these crack. My tech. cannot repair it and cobra doesnt want to sell him the parts. So i basically have a small boat anchor. Plus he told me that the sound tracker models are mainly junk. the only two he recomended were the classics and he told me that for the money the unidens are best deal and withstand the abuse better. (he doesnt even stock a cobra). I am a truck driver and the radios do go through some rough riding. I have switched to uniden!

Not good enoughThis would have been a great ear piece if only it fit into the walkie talkie. The prongs were spaced to far apart to be compatible. But the length was good.
Wow!This earbuds are the best I have ever used. Great sound quality. I would definately recommend them.

Quality Radio for CheapI recently bought one of these radios for my semi tractor. I immediately fell in love with the backlit controls. Years ago, I owned the Cobra version of this radio, but I didn't like it as much as this one. The controls are laid out very logically and have a nice feel. The Delta tune has a center detent for "eyes free" operation as you drive. The weather channels are a welcome addition to a long drive, keeping you informed of changing and/or severe weather ahead. The only things I didn't care that much for are the Dynamic Squelch feature and the front mic connector. DSC doesn't seem to work too well, but I drive with the squelch off (to hear distant signals), so this doesn't detract from an otherwise great radio. Having owned various Cobras, Galaxies, and other "big" radios, I can honestly say I like the Uniden PC78LTW the best.

It SucksSince I have had this unit it works only when it wants to. I have had it into several CB shops and they all say the same thing. It Sucks. STAY AWAY from this unit.
GreatI have only had a short time, and I am very happy. The features are great, especially the weather channel. I think this is a great value! I do agree with another review do get a good antenna, and you will enjoy it more.
Good CB radioI bought my 77-115 about 5 months ago and it has been wonderful. I also have a K40 5'6" whip on my car and I love it.

Read this it'll help.I have ordered this product (the Midland 75-785) and it is great I can hear everyone talking on the channels and the ones who are in range I can talk to. I'm glad I got it. The shipping was faster than I expected. I'm very happy with my product. And if you order one I know you will be too.
Midland 75-785I bought this as a replacement for my fullsize cobra unit that was "borrowed" from my car without my knowledge. Overall I really like this unit. It is small, compact and can be easily moved from vehicle to vehicle. The best part about it is that you can either have it wired in the car or run it as a handheld. The only downside to the unit is the fairly small speaker, but if you turn down the radio there really is no problem. In terms of performance, I think this little radio works better than any I have had before. I am able to pick up the NOAA weather stations much clearer than I was before. Overall a great product for the price.
works as I suspectedTo me this radio works better than the small two way radios, thats why I bought it. Yes it's a little bigger than the 2 way radios, but what I really wanted was more clearly transmission and a longer range which is what I got.
