Excellent Product, you will never put it down
They say two miles, but I think you actually get more. It's durable and very effective. I rarely ever hear static. I use them in the woods and camping and hiking trips when we have separate groups. No matter what you need them for, they will serve your purpose and you will definitely get your money worth. I reccomend that you get two today.

Absolutely Awesome
I use these radios in an all weather field environment and they have proven to be extremely reliable. I have maintained clear communications with others at almost 1 mile in broken hilly terrain and over 2 mile in open flat terrain.

The only drawbacks I see for military operations is the constant blinking red light, which can be reduced with duct tape, and the constant exposure to rain which could damage the radio. Otherwise they have been provided nothing but Convenience and reliability.

I strongely recommend this radio.

Rechargable batteries are a must
This is the coolest radio I have ever gotten. In fact I have 2. The design, durability & performance of this Motorola are unmatched. The NiCad battery allows you recharge it as a cellular & it lasts long enough for one full day out in the woods or where ever you are. Plus you don't have to keep buying new batteries for it.

I play paintball in the woods with friends a lot and started off with the 250s. I like these even more. You can easily get 2 miles of coverage in the woods between friends with these. If you plan on using these in the woods I would recommend using an earbud and mic or the headset with boom mic to allow the VOX system to operate more effectively. With the limitations of the paintball mask I can only use the earbud with mic. We even plan on using these during hunting season this year, but that is another story.

A pleasant surprise
I purchased a pair of these, from word of mouth reviews. They were our first FRS radios and the Motorola T6320 pleasingly surprised us. I highly recommend this radio for its clarity, durability, outdoor features and it also has a cool design. I've used this radio in Sea World and San Diego Zoo and the noise reduction is great. We frequently hike as a recreation. In the mountains we will use them to communicate with each other on the trails, as we both maintain a different stride and one always gets ahead of the other, the vox will be great. The altimeter and weather features will be the second best feature in the mountains. The only other feature I can think that would be useful is a sound signal that scares off bears and mountain lions:-) I think the belt clip could have been a little more secure, but we shall see, so far so good. We believe the T6320 is a true performer and it will meet most of our needs.

One of the Best and Better than the Rest !
This is a very interesting radio. It replaces and way exceeds the now obsolete M-series Motorola Mu24cvs 4 channel radios. The M-series radios were so good that the XTN would have go a bit to beat them. Beat them it does.

A few points: These new radios are six (6) channels selecting from a library of 56 internal frequencies whereas the M radios were only four (4) channels selecting from a library of 8 internal frequencies. The XTN radios also can use the digital (DPL) privacy or private line codes that were not available to the M series. The XTN radios are compatible with the M series and they do work well together. Battery life is double for the XTN units: nearly 16 hours use before recharging. The old M series radios barely did 6 hours. The output power is a solid and full 2 real watts something sadly one never finds on the M series radios after only a little use. Those old guys only test out at about 1.4 watts average on the bench. The VOX really works on the newer XTN's and was pretty poor on the M series. Also VOX will work with the internal radio mic if desired which is a plus not found on the M series. The charging systems are way advanced over the M series systems and the batteries are amazing and last seemingly forever.

The bottom line is the XU2600 is one of the best UHF small business radios Motorola makes. They are nearly impossible to kill by dropping unlike the M series. The XTN radios produce a killer receive volume level making them useful in the nosiest environments; they also speak in a low whisper so very clearly. The transmit audio is truly great and the operating range is tops with the new compression and transmission algorithms. Side by side no M series radio of the same wattage talks nearly as far.

About the only things we find on the down side is that the antenna cannot be removed, so an external antenna impossible, and the volume control knob can be knocked off with the right accidental bump.

These radios are not toys and operate on assigned business frequencies/ A valid FCC license must be obtained prior to use. The license can be applied for online at the FCC website but it is way better to simply pay a frequency coordination company to do this complex work for you.

dandy radio,value price!
Most of the FRS radios, that I have used on the job were not as good,or as inexpensive,as this great little FRS radio from southwest bell!It will actually tell you what privacy codes are in use on a particular channel, while scanning.this is a feature that no other FRS radio I have ever seen, has! The size is just right for a body glove FRS radio case(I recommend the case,to protect the radio)also available from amazon.com,in the FRS accessories section.Battery consumption is not that bad,and the radio has a built in power save circuit, that actually works.I've gone for 22 hours on alkalines, and still had a good charge left to use!I think that if you dont want to spend an awful lot of cash ,buying a decnt FRS radio, then this is the one for you!

Great buy!
I was skeptical that such an inexpensive shower radio would be of a decent quality, but I just love this product! The design is extremely good and it's worth much more than this. In fact, I've seen it elsewhere for twice as much. Scoop this up.

    This device is indestructible.
It seems to run forever on one AA cell. I've dropped mine on tile floors and pavement many times, causing the doors to fly open and the battery and tape to be ejected and the battery door to detach.
When retrieved and reassembled, it just keeps on going.

      Gotta Have Gadget!
My husbamd just had to have this radio. We live in an area where the power goes out all the time. We're also big campers and we thought this would be a good radio to travel with. It is self-powered so all you have to do is wind it up. It does take a lot of winding (the only drawback) so you wouldn't want it for everyday use but it is great in emergencies.
