- 14-channel FRS 2-way radio
- Up to 2-mile range
- Backlit display
- No FCC license required
- Built-in carabiner clip; pair of radios
List price: $59.99 (that's NaN% off!)

Sturdy, works great, easy for kids to use.
Great product for its price !The radio's look very cool. And they work on 3 AA batteries. You can buy 4 Nimh rechargable ones for just 10 bucks at any target store or here.
The best part about these is that they don't have any antenna hanging out (to be broken with use) and they could be conviently hung with the clip they already have. They don't come with all kinds of fancy features, just the necessary ones.
Even if the quality is not the best, they have the best looks & comfort of use compared to other FRS's around.
And finally they are much cheaper compared to others, you can get one between 10 to 15 dollars at circuitcity or here.

Very good but one flawHowever......
One night I noticed that it was humming. And it wasn't a low volume hum, it was noticeable. So after a sleepless night (i found it hard to get to sleep with the hum) I returned it.
I got a replacement model and it too had a hum.
So sadly I got my money back and I am searching again for a new model.
Even wakes up MY wife!!This clock also has the obligatory battery backup, a must-have feature in the podunk town we live in where electricity reliability is questionable at best.
There is also a built-in radio which sounds adequate, but frankly we rarely use it. The wake-up alarm can also be set to a radio station to wake you up to soothing music instead of the blasting crescendo alarm!
Great for the money

I'd pay 5 Times as much!First off, the receptation is good to excellant anywhere I have taken it. I notice that the AM stations also are not plaqued with static from other devices like some radios.
Second, the headphones are better than most people have stated. True, I replaced them...but they still are pretty decent sounding compared to what I expected.
Third, the EQ setting (Both TREBLE & BASS). These are nice features on a 3 dollar radio and work adequetly. They really don't do much but let you adjust out some hiss you may encounter, but are still handy when fine tuning a station.
Getting almost 20 hours on my first set of AA batteries was also a nice surprise. This sucker is pretty dang durable as well, taking numerous falls on the pavement.
I really can't say too much more but BUY THIS RADIO and you will no be disappointed...
Easily worth the money

Grundig
I love DXing
If You're Serious About Shortwave, This Is The One For You.Though nominally a portable, it's one big, butch radio: as big as a microwave oven and absolutely eats batteries. You'll want a permanent place in your home for it, and mostly run it off A/C power.
If you live anywhere other than the eastern part of North America or Europe, you will need to put up an external antenna. It's well worth it, though; with a proper antenna this radio will bring you the world.
The FM tuner is very good; mediumwave AM performance is also better than average, although there are other models you should consider if long-distance AM is your primary interest. Airband reception is only fair; I don't know why it's a feature of this radio.
The Sat 800 did have some quality control problems in the beginning (2000) those seem to be resolved now. For this price, you will not find a better performer on shortwave.
If you spend any time at all tuning the shortwave bands, this is your radio.

Just a toy...

Some annoying features; good value, though
Great clock for those of us with bad eyesight!REALLY load alarm! Kind of jolts me awake... which can be a rather bad start to the day, but beats sleeping through the alarm (which I've done with my old one).
Gets great reception, too.
Only negatives (as far as I am concerned) is that it has an analog (rather than digital) tuner, and it doesn't have a day-of-the-week function like my old alarm did (so I could set the alarm to only go off Mon-Fri.
I think it's a GREAT value for the price!
Good, but bright
- 22 channels
- 2-mile range
- 38 sub-channels
- Charger/NiMH battery packs included
- Backlit LCD display

Great bargain but what's the point? But bare in mind that using GMRS radios require a license. If you are buying this for a child and not getting a license. It is like teaching him it is okay to break the law. And if you know what you are doing, why bother breaking the law for a half-baked GMRS radio?
An Excellent Product and Value
Best Value for 20 bucks ever. What I was not prepared for was the price. I found these on a shelf below the GMRS peg wall at Wal-Mart, with no price indication. All the other GMRS packages with batteries and chargers were priced at $59.99 and above. I took this package to the register to ask what it cost. When the man scanned it he said, $20.
Needless to say, I bought them. Now whenever my family goes anywhere--to the park, to the mall, wherever, I have one of these and my wife has the other. They have no problem covering an entire mall while remaining intelligible. Outdoors, they are even better. There is absolutely no way any other brand new $20 product can touch these.
Sure, you can spend hundreds and get GPS or greater range, better clarity or longer battery life (these are actually very good in the battery-life department) but will it be a hundred dollars better? Only if you have to have GPS. In that case sure.
If you are like the other 98% of us, these radios will satisfy you in all the ways that matter, and any extra money you spend on fancier versions will be wasted.
