Nice sound for the size
This boombox has a nice sound and easy to read display. It is compact and fairly lightweight, even with the batteries installed. The digital tuner and remote control are an added comvenience. The small headphones that were mentioned in the editorial review are non-existent. Oh-oh :-( The boombox could use more bass boost. A Bass Port on the unit would have made this boombox an ideal item indeed!!!

Great sound, and portable!
I got this for my birthday and I started playing my CD's. This plays not just regular Cd's, but CD-R's and CD-RW's. It's portable, and has a remote. But on the remote it has no volume control. The only buttons are: Power, Play/Pause, Skip/Search, Stop, Band, Memory, and Play Mode.

It includes batteries for the remote, and has an AC cord for the Boombox so you don't have to waaste batteries. For the radio, theres up to 15 presets per AM/FM. It also has a FM antenna for good reception.

The blacklit LCD screen makes it easy for me to read in the dark before bed. This, I recommend to everyone.

Good looking with great surround sound
Good looking with large LCD display with back light. It is easy to use but also create great sound thanks to surround system. Also equipped with digital tuner is very easy to tune in my favoriate channel.

Volume problems with radio/alarm
The clock is great. I bought it for the dual alarm feature as well as the easy to read numerals. The problem I have had is using the snooze alarm... The problem is that the volume control for the radio is too close to the snooze button, so while hitting the snooze button, I turn the radio volume off. Now I have to use the second alarm with a loud buzzer instead of the radio. Of course, I could stop using the snooze alarm, but that's what it's there for. I wouldn't buy it again unless they moved the volume control to the side out of the way of my grasp.

TOO BRIGHT!
Hi, Even though this clock has to settings for the brightness of the numbers, they are just so big they give off enough light that it fills the room. You can read by the light that this clock gives off! If you like to have it dark when you sleep- don't get this clock. The clock has never failed in many power outs, and always wakes me up on time but make sure you are ok for the light it will give off.

Good radio at a great price!
A really good radio with great features. I especially like the looks of it and the dual alarms, it has a great radio with real good reception. Overall this is a winner!!

Cheaply made - don't waste your money
I bought one of these about a year ago (not from Amazon) and had problems immediately. Within a month the volume control went haywire. By six months it barely played a CD without problems. I am now replacing it after one year because it has stopped playing altogether. I will never buy a Philips boombox again.

Cool
This Bombox is so totally cool. It plays cd's, tapes, and the radio. The color is so cool too it blue and purple mixed togeather. It is easy to turn the volume up the the perfect place because to it's volume nob unlike the buttons you have to push. It is great to bring to the beach because it is light, easy to carry, and you can put in batteries. And if you don't want batteres in you can just pull out to plug out of the wall the the bombox. Oh and one more thing you can tape a cd song on to a tape on this bombox and it picks up no background noise!!!

Perfect for the Office.
I was looking for a CD player for my office, and this one caught my eye primarily because it's attractive -- I like the curved design and the color scheme. It also works great. The sound is clear, and I've never had any problem with the CD or tape decks, or encountered any problem taping things from CDs. I occasionally have problems picking up radio stations, but I attribute this largely to the fact that my office is in a deep, dank basement where signals may be faint at best. The thing I love most about this box is that it's very compact, but the sound quality is great whether I'm playing Nine Inch Nails or Boccherini's cello concerto's. I also love the fact that the small size makes it convenient to take along to the classroom, should I decide to use music in my lectures. If you're looking for something fancy, you might want to try another unit. If you're looking for a compact, attractive unit for simply playing CDs or tapes, then this is a great choice.

Great alarm, okay music player
If you need a versatile alarm clock first, and a CD/radio player second, then this is the model for you.

ALARM OPTIONS GALORE
This little model packs some great wakeup, sleep, and nap features. The dual alarms can be set to any combination of CD, radio or tone. You fully control the waking volume, CD track, and station, regardless of your last listening settings. Even the alarm tone is pleasant with a beeping that gradually gets louder. The 9V battery backup is also an invaluable option.

AVERAGE MUSIC LISTENING
Expect the audio quality of a clock radio, despite the RP3750's hi-fi look. The CD player has basic SKIP/RANDOM/REPEAT functions and can handle CD-R's. The radio boasts digital tuning and presets, but it's a little weak picking up signals. I do wonder about the CD player's durability. The plastic door seems a bit flimsy, and I had to exchange the first unit I bought. My initial purchase struggled (and often failed) to find CD tracks, straight out of the box!

EASY TO USE, EASY ON THE EYES
All the buttons are well placed and pretty intuitive. The LED display glows green, clearly illuminating the time and alarm settings. The machine is actually more attractive than pictured here. The plastic is pearly white, not yellowish like shown above.

On the whole, the RP3750 is a wonderful alarm clock with a passable CD player and radio. Stylish and well-priced!

A great clock radio!
I purchased this clock radio to replace a 10 year old Sony Dream Machine. I wasn't looking for something with a CD player but ended up getting this one on sale and couldn't turn down the deal. After reading through the owners manual on how to set it up, I was very pleased with the radio. I love the green numbers, and the white with chrome look is so sleek, it looks like it belongs in an office, not a bedroom. A big change from my black Sony. I love the ease of setting the alarm, the forward and back time setting, the choice of waking to a CD or radio (or the horrid beep-beep!) and the digital tuner. The digital tuner wasn't something I was orginally looking for, but I'm so glad I got it. You can program up to 10 channels into it's memory and pick one station to wake to, even if it's not the last channel you listened to. Overall, I'm very pleased with this radio.

excellent for kitchen countertop
I am so happy with this little unit. I bought this CD/radio for use in the kitchen. I have never used the alarm features, so I can't say how they work. However, I LOVE the size and the speaker location and the way the CD opens from the front. The light color of the unit is attractive, not the usual dark black colors common in clock radios/CDs. I bought a second one for my husband's desk at work. Easy to turn radio off and NO CDs have skipped. Yay!!

It lasted for one year then the switch broke
It was fine until just over a year almost daily use. The slide switch which changes function doesnt work, so it can now only be used as a CD player.Unfortunately its out of guarantee.

Buy a NEW one for [$] not a USED one for [$].
I have this Boombox and its great and [$] is a good price. The only thing that would make it better is if it had an indicator light to show that the CD player is on. My kids leave it on all the time.

Great player for kids.
My 8 year old son bought this CD player for himself based on looks and price, and he's been very happy with it. It's easy to use, sound quality is very good, and it is priced well.

What makes a GREAT player?
I originally wrote a very wordy review, but deleted that in favor of stating just what you need to know. The RD2211 is small enough to be easily portable. It's easy to find and play the tracks you want to hear. The sound quality, even at its dismal 75 db signal to noise ratio, is sufficiently good for everyday use. The solid state construction means it won't skip while jogging or simply walking to the train platform. Let's skip past all that, and get down to the real issues.

First and last, this player is usable only with WMA files. The advertised MP3 compatibility is accomplished via the included software: it converts MP3 to RCA's proprietary MPX format. You need not read farther if your music library is predominantly MP3.

The advertised 128 MB total memory is supplied as two 64 MB CF cards. This is unacceptable. I have not decided if it's enough of a deal breaker to take advantage of Circuit City's 30 day return policy. My intention at the time of purchase was to swap the overly generous 256 MB CF card in my camera for the 128 MB card. This is no longer feasible, and my options are to return the device, or purchase a 128 MB card.

The CF card is removed from the player and inserted into the supplied USB CF card reader to upload music. I perceive real longevity issues related with doing this on a regular basis. The player "boots" its playback programs for WMA and MP3 from the CF card. In theory, this should make software upgrades easy. In practice, it's one more worry on two fronts. The player sometimes has difficulty reading the CF card; the card needs to be removed and re-inserted to "boot" the player. This gives rise to the robustness issues I note above. The second concern is that the required files are not supplied (that I can find) in the software installation. I made several copies of the player software in several locations on my harddisk, and even archived a copy on CD-R. (I find this last to be the most ironic; I recently retired a CD-R MP3 player because of the incessant skips.)

The CF card reader connects to the PC via USB, and appears as a removeable drive on the file system. The supplied driver is not specific to the RD2211; I used the card reader to download pictures from my camera (although it makes no sense to, since the camera connects via USB also, obviating the wear and tear on the card and connector). This works fine for me, since I still run Windows 2000 on my primary PC; the driver didn't work on my XP notebook.

Uploading music files is a simple drag and drop operation in Windows' explorer. (WMA files only; see above about MP3.) This, at least, was as advertised.

Will it use all flash cards.
I want to get an 128MB and maybe 256 MB for this device. Does anyone see a problem with this.

Very easy to use!
I''ve gone through many different mp3 players. this is the only one that has lasted me more than a mere week. i've had this for almost a year and so far it has been the best! A real good thing is definitely the radio. even though many people say that it doesn't work, it really does and works well.

It is very easy to use and it comes with a remote so it makes it even easier! But, unfortunately perfection does not come in most mp3 players. this product does have some drawbacks. this player is a little big. also, the cf (compact flash) cards that come with the playerare 2 64 mb not 1 128. Other than that though, this mp3 player is great! u should definitely buy it!

Above And Beyond
To those who speak ill of this portable, all I can say is...get a mini-system instead, because if THIS doesn't satisfy you, then NO portable will. I have only seen THREE portables with a subwoofer...this, the GT30 (has no remote) and it's higher-model relation; and they do not just have a subwoofer; it's a POWER-DRIVEN woofer with it's own amplifier. The result? The thing sounds almost as good as a bookshelf system! You get rich bass and a clarity of sound that goes above and beyond what you expect from a portable

My workhorse
I own five CFDGT50 and am buying more. I check them out to folks at a university AV shop. They have a strong amp, good tone, and we have not had one damaged in any way in 18 months use. The metal speaker grills and sturdy case help. The only thing I don't like is there's no built-in mic, but there is a line-in jack.

NICE LOOKING, AWSOME SOUND .NICE TO LOOK AT
I'VE SEARCHED AND SEARCHED AND ARE THEY NOT MAKING LITTLE PORTABLES ANYMORE . WELL THERE BACK IN AND I'VE TRIED THEM ALL AND IF I HAD TO PICK IT WOULD BE THIS ONE AND DONT LET THE SIZE FOOL YOU .THIS SOUNDS WELL TO THE EAR SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A MINI BOOMBOX GRAB A HOLD OF THIS . ITS UP THERE IN PRICE BUT ITS BETTER THAN BUYING A CHEAP ONE AND IT BLOWS OUT . GET THIS IM GLAD I DID.

OK, but uncomfortable
This works fine, but I wish I had tried it out in person before (or instead of) buying it:

- the way it rides on the ears is uncomfortable

- the neck strap rubs against my collar, so if I turn my head, it pushes the thing, rubbing more against my ears

- the way it sticks out on either side is a bit goofy looking.

Not as it appears
The Sony SRF-H11 headset radio has better than average reception (though I notice a very slight hiss even on local stations) and excellent sound. The big, and I mean big, problem with the headset is that it's, well, BIG. Sony does a nice job of always showing images of the radio from the side, or - when on a model - from the side of the model's head. This leads you think that the radio looks like their standard "sony-style" headphones. Great, I thought, I can listen to the radio without cords, or a radio strapped to my arm/waist/bike. Which is true, except that I look like Woody Allen in Sleeper. The radio sticks out approx 1 1/2" from your head. To give you a visual of what that looks like, it sticks out about 1/2" farther than my bike helmut (which is about 10 years old). Sorta like having a couple of extra large grade A eggs stuck to the side of your head. If you think form the picture no one will notice it's a radio, think again. The radio is very light, except that after 30 minutes of hanging from your ears, you'd think it weighs about 5 pounds.

For their function, they work great.
I will first start off by saying that yes, indeed they are a tad bigger then normal behind the ear headphones but they have a radio in them so cut the design some slack. They aren't that heavy unless they are used for a prolonged period of time, 2 or 3 hours is about when the headphones start to feel heavy. If you are worried about them looking goofy then you need to do two things. 1) Realize that they are for sporting, bike riding, running, hiking etc. 2) Don't be so full of yourself that a little added width is going to throw off your perfectly balanced figure. All in all, these headphones are perfect for their function and price.

    This product 2 years later
The problem that I have with this system is after I have had it for about 2 years the cd player stoped reading cds! What is the point of haveing a cd player that will not work.

    Fills the bill
I work at a remote site which provides housing for me every weekend. I needed a small sound system to play CDs and radio, and especially to boost a pitifully small (by today's standards) 13" TV so I would at least THINK I was enjoying it! This system fills the room with sound, and fits into a large nightstand cabinet. I found hookup to be very easy, especially considering that the speakers have two pairs of leads apiece (one pair for the high/midrange component and one pair for the built-in subwoofer). The sound is awesomely solid -- and the three pre-set EQs can tailor most styles of music. Aiwa makes almost no mention of the surround speakers (a single mention in the manual, buried halfway down one page; nothing on the shipping box). I hooked up a pair of small A/V speakers and found that, from the video source, I was getting true surround signals when they were present. My points off are for the cassette decks -- though CDs can be auto-programmed to fit a cassette, it would be very helpful if the recording deck included auto-reverse. But for the price, it's a versatile system that can also double as an alarm clock. It does what I need -- and it makes watching videos on that 13" TV enjoyable!

    It's Great!
I have reallt enjoyed this boom box. I have no complaints!

Fine, while it worked, but then....
I've owned this tape player/radio for just over a year now, and for a while it was a welcome traveling companion, fitting neatly into my briefcase. While on trains, planes, etc., I could either tune in to local radio or listen to tapes of my choice.
Then after just about a year, and for no apparent reason, the radio suddenly began to act like it was one of those old fashioned coil jobs you made in Scouts. In other words, it couldn't pick up a signal even if you were ten feet from the transmitter.

Okay I told myself, call the Manufacturer to see what it might cost to get repaired (the warranty naturally having expired shortly before the radio did). And as feared, I was greeted with Voice Mail Hell... Press One if you are a Dealer, Press Two if you want parts, etc. One of the options was for Repair Estimates, and once there, I learned I must either "hold" for at least ten minutes (six calls), or "Due to Unusually Long Waiting Times, We are Unable to Take Your Call at this Moment. PLEASE call again at another time."
So I used their allegedly friendly, new fangled email system, and lo and behold, five days later I got a response from Operator 26 who told me I should call a certain phone number and all would be swell. Number called, wait either "too long, please call later" or longer than I care to wait (e.g. 16 minutes).
So who knows. Maybe Panasonic does really make good products and I got the only malfunctioning one in existence. But then again, who were all those other callers, also on 'hold' awaiting problem resolution?

Think I'll see if another manufacturer offers both a better product and better service.

    great player
This is a very ood player. it is planty loud. It has all the poop and gadgets you'll need. The only drawback is the headphones. They are pretty uncomfortable. But otherwise, i would definetly reccomend it.

Panasonic RQ-NX60V - Excellent Buy for the price!
I ordered the cassette on Thursday and recieved it Monday. A very well made piece of equipment, not flimsy at all. Sound quality is excellent. Stereo came with a black nylon carry bag, with draw string. Battery is concealed inside the cassette area to save room and allow the equipment to be compact. Sized so that it can comfortably fit in your pocket. (The one battery lasts for hours and hours.) Cassette does not skip during vigorous movement. Dropped stereo twice with no dents or repercussions.
