Motorola 50225 TalkAbout Remote Speaker Microphone
REMOTE MICROPHONE
If you get a TalkAbout 250, you must get this microphoneThs microphone unit works both as a speaker and as a microphone. The speaker in this unit is superior to the internal speaker in the talkabout.
This unit allows you to put the radio in your pocket, or clip it on your belt and still be able to hear and talk on the radio. The microphone contains a clip that you can clip to your collar or shirt pocket that keeps the speaker close enough to your ear for you to hear anything, as well as close to your mouth for talking.
I strongly suggest that if you buy a TalkAbout 250 that you also buy this microphone.
This microphone does not work with the TalkAbout 280 which has different size microphone/headphone jacks.

Line-In Makes All The DifferenceNow I plug in a "real" MP-3 player (or my laptop) for MP-3's. I also use the Line-In in my hotel room for my laptop to watch DVD movies. They are SO much better with decent sound, and internet streaming radio sounds great too. I even plugged the headphone jack from the hotel room TV in and had much better sound than from the single 4" speaker on the TV.
Downsides:
1. Not a lotta Boom in this boombox, but also not a lot of weight.
2. No backlight on the LCD display. Actually gets pretty annoying.

Solid value for the priceWhat I like about this model:
- sleek design, compact, easy to carry
- cassette player/recorder
- 4 pre-programmed sound modes
- Mega bass and Mega expand options that give better sound quality (combine these with the "Vocal" sound setting to get best sound quality for most rock/pop music)
- Radio tuner is easy to operate, with a digital tuner/display and presets
- Line-in feature very useful to play MP3s remotely from a laptop or MP3 player.
- CD-R/RW playback that gives you a viable option to burn MP3s into audio on any ordinary CD
- Fully functional remote
- Headphone jack, not found in some of the other boomboxes that I looked at
Cons:
- Sound is biased towards higher frequencies in my opinion (resulting in a distinct hissing sound if you go close to the speakers, even at low volumes)
As you can see, I have not had much to grumble about with this piece. Good buy for an average priced boombox. Note: I compared the sound quality of this model with some of the Phillips boomboxes and the Sony was far superior (perhaps due to the 4 preset Sound modes)

ShockWave Will Be Missed, But Not ReplacedLast week I finally lost my ShockWave radio, though I will miss it, I plan on trying my luck on something a little better. I could have swore that in the late 90's when you paid between $40-$60 dollars for a walkman you used to get something of slightly better quality. Now all you get in this price range is garbage. Is this progress?
The best little radio yetDownsides: Memorizing a station requires a Mensa certificate, no auto-off (do any of them?) - but these are minor. Great choice for a commuter radio.
I love the ItemPlanning to buy another one just in case, coz i know they don't distribute this anymore. do you think i reccomend this ? , you Bet. i bought a armstrap to put in , and it ready to go. try it , you will love it.

Not a happy camper
Very impressiveI'm very impressed by the richness of music played through this unit, especially CD and (surprisingly) cassette tape. It has good midrange and depth. The stereo separation is poor, mainly because the speakers are so close together. The "mega bass" button does a good job increasing the bass, but it's not so noticeable when playing classical music or when listening to pop via FM radio. I always use it when playing compact discs. The tone control's effect is more modest, but still useable and useful.
The cassette player plays with surprisingly little hiss, especially considering there's no Dolby noise reduction.
Music from FM radio stations sounds a bit thin, and clearly inferior to music from CD. The "mega bass" option has little effect improving this.
So overall, a great little boom box with good sound quality. I originally intended owning this machine for a short period and then selling it, but now it's a keeper.
super value and sound
