I liked it for its slim, light-weight design, digital tuner and extended battery life. But it lacks some features such as AVLS, Dolby NR and metal tape playback capability. The anti-rolling and key-hold features are useful when exercising. The radio reception quality is OK, but not great.

When I was looking for a inexpensive walkman I decidede to go with Panasonic since my dad siad it's one of the best. I went to their online sight and found it for $59.95 and after I had seen the other prices I went with Amazon because it was the lowest. Since I am only 15 I of course went for the looks. But since Iwas spending my own money I read reviews and payed more attention to the technical stuff. Since I am a very active person the capabilities and endurance of this model makes it well suited for the activities I engage in. I really like the idea of only using one battery because it saves me and my parents the hassel of having to go out and buy more. Overall I say that this product is very good and would suit anyone who is active and looking for a great buy.

I was looking for a Boombox with the following features
- Should play mp3 files,
- Must have tape deck and
- Must have a remote
This was the only boombox that met all those criteria. It recognized my mp3 files without any problems. Sound is pretty decent. I give 4 stars instead of 5, because it did not sound as good as some of the similar sized Sony boomboxes. Overall I am very satisfied.

I have had this CD/tape player/radio boombox for several years and I like it. I listen to both music and audio books on it and I'm pretty happy with my decision in buying it and I enjoy the CD player a lot more then my old portable CD player which kept skipping and draining the batteries after only listening to a couple of songs and turned out to be defective. It's also nice to use this as I can plug it in the electric socket when I don't feel like using my Sony Walkman and wasting the batteries so that way I can save the Walkman and the batteries for when I travel or I'm out walking. The sound quality is pretty good, I just have a horrible pair of headphones right now and will be looking for a better set that sounds better with this boombox.

My mother bought this CD player for me for my birthday, and I was shocked that this portable player filled my dorm room (a very large one) with sound much better than my big stereo system did. The cd player, cassette player, and radio all work great, and it looks really cute, too (I got it in blue).

Only two small things kept me from giving this one 5 stars. First, the sound seems like it's lacking something if you don't use the bass boost. When you do use it, though, the sound is great. Second, I had planned on slipping the player into a backpack to take to the beach, but I found it to be an awkward piece to pack. It's easy to carry, but if you had wanted to pack it away don't count on it unless it's a large bag.

Overall I highly recommend this player because it has an amazing sound for its size. If you're looking for something small but effective, this is the one to buy.

The reason i didnt give it 5 stars was because the remote cannot actually turn the unit on, or change from CD to Radio Mode. There is a switch the must be moved by hand to change modes or to get it off of tape mode (off mode)

I was shopping around for a one-piece boom box that had more than the average amount of bass response. I had a Sony which sounded OK, but didn't have very much on the low end of things. I didn't need a remote and I didn't have the money for a more expensive machine like the JVC Kaboom series. This one seemed to have met my need sperfectly and had all the features I wanted, including a digital AM/FM tuner. The bass response is wonderful. Even at the first of the two bass boost settings this thinng just rocks. Any music will be enhanced by this machine, and it adds bass without making the madrange boomy as well. There's a surround sound feature on this machine which is to me just a gimmick at best. I'm only giving it four stars instead of five because the tuner, especially on AM is not very sensitive. If you want to listen to AM on this thing, you'd want to get something like the Select-A-Tenna or similar AM loop antennas that can sit next to your radio. The cassette deck plays well, but the recordings are a bit noisy, due to the use of permanent magnet erase heads, but I'm sure that's pretty standard on any boom box these days. Overall, though, it's a very fine machine for those who do want full rich sound on a budget.

Most units with these features cost a lot more, so I am very pleased with the value and performance. The sound is very good, but then I expected that after reading the many good reviews for other Philips products. There is a little hiss when playing some tapes with the bass boost but it really is only noticeable when sound is turned way up and you're close to the speaker. The bass boost is the only sound quality adjustment. Simplicity is a virtue in this case!

The radio reception is excellent and digital signal lock-on is much better and faster than with dial tuning. Setting up radio presets (30 each for AM & FM) and changing stations is a bit of a pain since the remote and unit buttons do not allow for direct numeric entry (forward/back only). There is station search.

The remote is small and fits well in hand or pocket, and works well enough *for what it is*. But, it doesn't allow changes from one feature to another (i.e. radio to CD). For that you have to go back to the box. There is no mute button.

The unit looks really heavy but is not- it is just the typically bulky speakers. The speakers can be seperated and moved further out to provide better sound or for a larger area. The only caveat- the speaker wire is very thin and the end connected to the speakers is buried inside, so replacement would mean light disassembly. This is no big deal for me since I plan to use it mostly all together, but for someone else you might want to plan to improve the wire from the beginning to avoid breakdown at an awkward time.

Not a bad unit for the price. I've seen better units that cost more, and worse units that cost the same. Overall decent value

The use of all the power generated by this machine was amazing. I think the design concept is lacking. The shape of the machine could have been more "modern". I think the performance of this particular receiver is second to none. THis is why I gave it four stars.
