Good but better/cheaper versions to be had
Handy little device... but don't rely on good reception. For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with this little, durable device. The only defect I have noticed with my radio in the year that I've used it is the channel buttons occasionally get stuck and have to be pried out using a pen cap or other small instrument. Annoying, to be sure, but the radio continues to work as expected. Battery life with normal AA batteries is good, although I tend to leave my radio turned completely off unless I suspect weather is approaching or am heading off on a trip.

- Easy-to-use, accurate thumbwheel tuning
- Dual alarms
- Snooze control/repeat alarm
- 59-minute sleep/slumber feature

Not what I expected....The battery back up has worked when my power was out for a few hours, but when I lost power for 4 days, the back up didn't work.

OK for the price but missing several major features.A balance control is a necessity if you put the unit's speakers in any place other than the "ideal" positions. The lack of bass and treble controls can be tolerated if you are happy with one of the nine preset equalization settings. The problem is that you can select only one of these at a time and cannot "mix and match" combinations of them. I am not particularly happy with any one of the preset settings, primarily because they all produce too much bass for my liking. A separate bass control would correct this.
Although the unit has 5 CD trays that are nicely arranged, a single cassette deck would be beneficial for recording from CD or the tuner. If it at least had "line out" jacks you could pipe the output to another device. The headphone output can be used for this but then the sound is muted. Since I only paid about a hundred bucks for the unit I decided that it was not worth returning it but I will probably relegate it to the guest room as soon as I find somrthing better. Electronics wiz
Uncomplicated eleganceThe headphones fit snugly, and the static is surprisingly low for a radio that (is so inexpensive)! It is extremely easy to switch between the modes, and you dont need to be ambidextrous like me to do that. Use either hand, its a snap!
Also makes a nice surprise gift for that person "who has everything". Nothing can kill the radio star!

- Miniature FM/AM radio (1.5 by 3 by 0.6 inches)
- Includes stereo ear buds, neck strap, and trailing antenna
- DBB (Deep Bass Boost) heightens musical impact

small radio, small sound
Small radio, large ccapacity!radios, for I shift to web-based radios through the Internet.
However, sangean was my favorite shortwave radio brand for:
1, goog sound quality;
2, capable of receiving lots of more-than-you-can-imangine
radio programs, for example, English speaking north Korean
news program.
