TA 280 SLK Headset
This headset is far more comfortable for extended periods of use than the earbud set. The requirement to use the push-to-talk button on the radio can be awkward at times but I usually have the radio in my shirt pocket. It's easy to find the PTT button by feel when it is parked there. I would have rated it one star higher if it had a lapel push-to-talk button. Of course that feature would raise the price but it would be worth it. I find it to be a worthwhile accessory

OK for travelling
This is a light and compact item perfect for travelling. The sound quality is OK for a small radio. Missing a snooze button which would have been very nice. The flip clock pannel is fragile.

after 15 years, quality is worse, not better
I recently purchased the RQSW88V after I dropped my 15-year old Aiwa HS-T65 once too often. I listen to jazz and classical music, and thus depend on the nearest NPR FM stations in Boston, 45 miles from where I live. If I stand still and position the RQSW88V just right, I can barely hear the stations, but static is overpowering. Obviously, the purpose in owning a portable is to use it on the move, not stand still like a scarecrow. The normal/city switch doesn't help, and there is no FM mono switch, which would help clear up the static. The headphone wire (i.e., the FM antenna) is not the problem, as I have three excellent sets of headphones and tried them all. The audio quality of the RQSW88V is good except that on the default setting the bass is a bit lacking. Unfortunately, when you turn on the S-XBS bass, the bass is overpowering, tubby, and unnatural. There is no belt-clip. There is no clock. There are no controls to adjust for different kinds of tape. In other respects, the unit is ok. In contrast, my 15-year old Aiwa pulls in the Boston stations, has separate treble, mid-range, and bass controls, an FM stereo-mono switch, a Dolby switch, a metal/CrO2 switch, a removable belt-clip, and a clock. Before buying the RQSW88V, I searched the web and supposedly the RQSW88V is a top of the line product. Although electronics products quality and value have improved immensely in the last 15 years, the RQSW88V is clearly going in the opposite direction. I am greatly disappointed and would be furious except that I bought the unit for $50. At $119, it deserves to be discontinued. I have seen from other reviews that the RQSW99 is the same as the RQSW88 except that the RQSW99 has brain-shaker bass. I recommend these units only for people who want to have their brains shaken.

Good little traveling companion
Hi folks , Vince the radioman with another review for you . I've been a buff for many years and have a large collection . I love to do side by sides . This is a pretty decent radio for the money . It is analog , but the tuner selectivity and sensativity are surprisingly good . It has a digital clock and alarm specially designed for the traveller ( ...separate world time and EZ time zone adjustments). Its good on battery life( 3 AA ) and is lightweight .It has FM stereo and a DC adaptor jack . The sound is ok through the built in speaker and not bad through the phones . It is far better than the Sony SW12 , which is overpriced , the controls are too small ,there is only and ear phone jack no FM stereo and no DC jack. Sangean did not fall into this trap .....it has all the bells and whistles needed when traveling .The PT633 covers most SW bands with an emphysis on listening to the big broadcasters . This radio is about half the price of the SW12 ....no comparison , this is the little traveler you want with you on those long trips. Buy it!

Not bad, but should have shopped around more...
The CDX-CA810X is a pretty good unit. I wish now though, that I had gotten one that plays MP3/WMA. Also, for the money, I'd have expected a little better construction. The faceplate seems a little flimsy and is dificult to reattach.
    Pros:
    Changing colors is fun
    3 Preamp outputs
7 EQ presets are real nice
    Cons:
    Detachable faceplate not worth detaching
    No MP3/WMA decoding
    Tuner doesn't sound great

    Final Thoughts:
Unless you're partial to Sony and will not want to play any MP3/WMA CDs, you'll want to look elsewhere. You can get a good CD/MP3 receiver with similar features in the same pricerange, I recommend Kenwood or Panasonic if you don't want to pay too much, or if you don't mind a bigger price tag Pioneer or Rockford Fosgate make great receivers!

Good price, but my CD player broke in about a year
Good sound and a good price, but quality is an issue. The CD player broke after about 1 year, and the unit was well maintained. I am in the market again for another boom box.

A Very Bright Display But a Good Clock
This is a pretty nice little clock from Sony selling for a pretty nice price. I found mine at Wal-Mart three nights ago and I was impressed by its performance. It's a standard alarm clock in the Dream Machine series, but it has all the features you'll need out of a digital alarm clock. The clock itself has a sleek, sophisticated appearance, a medium-sized LED display, a single alarm which you can use with your choice of buzzer or radio, sleep and snooze functions, full power clock back-up, and of course the radio itself. It also has a small build and a large frontal display, which means it can stay out of the way while still giving you a good-sized display. However, there are a few cons about this clock radio, the biggest of all beingthe LED itself. The LED is bright, so during the night it can light up the room pretty well. If you like to sleep in total darkness like me, this can be a problem! However, if you turn the clock around so it faces the wall or put a book or something in front of it, it isn't as much of a problem anymore. Another problem (at least for some) is that the sleep and buzzer volume functions are preset and are unconfigurable. This isn't a problem for me though since I never use the buzzer or sleep function. All in all, if you're looking for an inexpensive clock that is reliable andhas all the features you're looking for in an alarm clock without all thebells and whistles, this is your clock!

    Not for voice recording
I would have to return this one. When recording from the built in microphone there is loud motor hum. Buttons are hard to press - much harder than on dedicated $40+ SONY voice recorders. The sound of the built in speaker is loud enough. Radio is on the weak side. I was quite surprised this unit was so cheaply built for a SONY Walkman. Even the battery door was made of mismatching white plastic.
In short - looked, felt and performed as some cheap unknown brand.
