Best I've Ever Had
I just bought the MDR-CD770 Headphones from Sony, and they are the best i have ever tried, the soundquality is exellent and they really prove themself when you have maxed out volume and listen to songs with low, deep bass (for example NIN's "Piggy" and "The Fragile"), the only drawback is that it tends to get a bit sweaty after a couple of hours but not as much as the cheaper low-quality stuff out there. A definite must have for the average audiophile!

Great Phone system
My son gave my daughter and me this four line V-Tech system. It is great. You can carry one phone around with you while the others are on the bases so you don't have to run to the phone when it rings. We had a cordless phone, but these phones are small. If you misplace one, you can call it and find it by its chirping. Also, if I need to reach my daughter, I can call her through this system. You can store phone numbers, redial, look to see whom you called. It has so many features that I don't think we found them all. This was the best gift I have received!

My new favorite headphones
I am a true audiophile so audio quality was of utmost importance, but I also wanted a smaller type of headphones since I don't like walking around in my Beyerdynmics or Grados... I am also wearing glasses so comfort is important. After several days of listening to the PX100 I must say that they satisfy all my requirements - incredible sound for the price and size, small and very comfortable, and even look good!
I give them 4 stars for two main reasons: 1) the connector is not gold plated - for Sennheiser I would expect this. And 2) the frequency response is not very flat (the lows are raised to high) so these will probably not sound very good unless you equalize, but most audio gadgets today have an equalizer.
Finally, a word of advice: don't judge these headphones as soon as you get them, let them burn in for several hours.

Early Impressions
I decided to go with Sennheiser after using some work headphones (the $200+ "480p" model). For forty dollars, these are definitely worth it.

I've had the headphones for about a week now. I wanted to go with padded earphones rather than those that "cup" your ears.

Audio quality is excellent. They have ample/impressive bass for such flimsy looking headphones. I tried these with my iPod on the "Rock" EQ setting, listening to every genre: orchestral, electronic, acoustic, etcetera. Every track came through quite nicely. I'm not a hardcore audiophile, but I do like to hear my music clear and (sometimes) quite loud. So far these have delivered.

I mention that these are flimsy, but in a good way. The earphones are loosely attached to the main headband, which is flexible metal. They remind me of comfortable Plantronics headsets I have used in the past, so they don't "clamp" down on your head. They fit nice and snug.

The included case is a nice plus for travel - it took me a few moments to figure it out, but it comes in handy when toting the headphones from place to place.

So far I am very satisfied.

Hardly know you have them on!!
Very nice headset, hardly know they are on and yet the bass is very rich and soothing!! Nice!

ouch
I had this other headphones plugged into my computer. Then when I got this one in the mail, I unplugged the old one and plugged in the 497. I almost went deaf! I didn't expect it be so loud and crisp... and I had the treble set too high on my sound card. I was hearing things that I never heard through my other headphones. he HIs are amazing on this unit, and the LOWs are just enough that I don't feel drowned in a sea of bass.

It's pretty comfortable... but it gets painful wheN i wear this with my glasses on. The legs (is that what they're calle?) on my glasses dig into the side of my head when I have this on. People tell me I have a big head though, so maybe that may have worsened the effect. It's pretty comfortable without my glasses though. The only thing being that I'm as good as blind without my glasses... so listening to music and working on my laptop is pretty hard to do.

Quality phones, fairly valued
One of the charms of headphones is that they're a lazy person's no-brainer technology. No programming, digital settings, or instructions are necessary to using, benefitting from, and evaluating the product. Consequently, I now have along with broad experience in cans more of them than I require. The only pair I've been absolutely and completely satisfied with are the Sennheiser PX100's, which can be transported safely in a back pocket and worn and enjoyed interminably. But they do require careful folding and storing, and I thought the top-rated (by Cnet) HD-497's would be handier for my studio work at the radio station.

A few observations about comfort. They're light enough but also just a trifle tight--something you certainly notice after the first hour of wearing them. Any of these phones that sit on the edges of your ears are likely to produce heat and sweat after a limited amount of time. This is as true of the 497's as of my heavier Sony MDR V-600's. For extended listening, the best bets are extremely lightweight phones like the PX100's, which don't sit on the "rim" of the ear, or phones that completely encircle the ear. I've got some heavy, loose-fitting Panasonic RP-HT660's that can be worn for hours because the weight is on your head, not your ears.

I can't speak to the durability factor of the HD-497's, though I'm somewhat surprised to see how tightly-fitting the detachable speaker wires are. Whether they would save you a broken set of headphones in the event of tripping on the cord (I've lost one pair that way) remains to be seen. Also, I've discovered no shorter wires made available by Sennheiser, so the detachability factor appears to be no more than a slight advantage. As for convenience, these phones can't be folded and stored in a little storage bag, like many of their larger competitors, so I wouldn't judge them to be good travelers.

As for the most important consideration, they sound great. Adequate bass (with no sense of artificial "boost," like the more expensive Sony's) and clear, brilliant highs (discernibly brighter than those of the Sony V-600's). They're a tad more efficient (louder) than the PX-100's, and they tend to bring mid-range instruments--the piano, for example--more forward in the mix. Indeed, the sound is transparent, clear and crystalline. Still, I almost prefer the more democratic balance of the PX-100's, which place you mid-center instead of front-center in the concert hall. The HD-497's are great for shorter listening episodes, but for going the distance, give me the PX-100's any day. (They're also 25% less expensive. For that matter, the Sony CD-180's, at one-quarter of the price, compare quite favorably in every respect with the HD-497's, with diminished treble being the major difference.)

Would Be Excellent For Twice The Money
I bought these for my Rio Volt SP250 portable. I am very picky about speaker/headphone quality and find these to be outstanding considering the source and the ... price. You can get better sound but be prepared to pay four times as much to do it, and the high buck ones probably won't run off of a portable.

The 497's get plenty loud even driven off the Rio Volt, but really need a more powerful source to deliver a solid bass punch. I'm looking at portable headphone amplifiers to fix this minor quibble.

They really are much more comfortable and smoother than my Sonys but could still be a tad more comfortable. That's because with their limited padding they still press (50%) against my normal sized ears. They are also too bulky and hot for the gym. I save them for home and walking the dog, and sweat up the Sonys at the gym.

Great Headphones, But Not for Travel
I bought these headphones at circuit city and they have great sound, bass, cancel out some noise even though they aren't noise cancelling. They are ok in the comfort zone. They are good for maybe an hour but then they start to feel a little tight. I used these playing halo on the pc and they sound incredible. But sirprisingly I am returning them tomorrow because they are horrible for travel. They do not fold up, they are large in size, and they don't cancel out the noise for airplanes as some other headphones do. And most of all they look plain stupid. I also own the audiobahn over-ear headphones and they don't look as close to retarded as these do on your head - I was to embarrassed to wear these out of my house. Only would recommend for pc gamers who arent using for travel.

Excellent headphones!
Wow, when Sennheiser said the HD-212 were tuned for bass they weren't kidding. The overall soundstage is VERY OPEN and the BASS is deep and tight. I am a high end audio nut and now I find myself listening to these on my laptop more : / I honestly did not expect this kind of sound from headphones in this price range. I should also add that they are very comfortable and fit perfectly over my ears. I can listen to them for hours (and I do!) and not experience any fatigue. Another thing that is real nice about the HD-212 is you don't disturb anyone else in the room when using them. I highly recommend the HD-212. Easily the best value in the Sennheiser line, especially looking at the ungodly prices on their higher end models.

SENNHEISER HD 212 PRO
Briefing: Most high end headphones operate above 32 Ohms, meaning those headphones that require more than 32 Ohms will require an amplifier. The amplifier of course will set you back at least another one hundred dollars. With that said the HD 212 PRO requires 32 Ohms, meaning you won't have to purchase an amplifier if you don't already own one.

Performance: If you do buy these headphones make sure you give them a good burn in session before you evaluate them. I noticed the headphones sounded better after playing a variety of music for about 10 hours.

Sound: The sound is definitely bass heavy; however the sound produced does not sound muddy, rather the sound produced is crisp and clear.

Portability: The headphones are not all that portable, since they don't fold.

Comfort: The headphones are comfortable, but not so comfortable to be worn hours on end. Note that if you plan on wearing glasses while wearing these or any headphones with ear cups, they may or may not cause some discomfort.

Roundup: The HD 212 PRO is very nice, producing excellent sound quality for headphones under sixty dollars, all without the use of an amplifier. Lastly the bass heavy sound makes it ideal for more upbeat modern music, such as pop, rock or trance.

Note: The information provided is my opinion, based on my own personal knowledge and experience. Therefore I can not guarantee that you will have the same opinion of this product.

Waste of money...Terrible sound
I purchased these headphones because of the acoustic reflector feature that is supposed to offer superb bass. All I could hear was distortion. I didn't even notice any difference in the amount of bass. I now have a pair of Sony over-the-ear headphones and the bass is way better and there is no distortion.

Great Sound
I've been looking for a good headset for working out and have been disappointed until I bought these.

I bought and returned 5 other headsets at various stores (5 of which were more expensive) and finally lucked out and found these at Target. They have excellent sound (especially the bass response), are fairly comfortable (little discomfort over the ear after about 1.5 hours of continuous wear), and they are great for running (light weight and secure fit).

I actually run the cord (5ft long) behind my back to my MP3 player so it's out of the way (if you try this with ear buds they usually pull too much and loosen in your ear or fall out). Also found they work great and stay out of the way when behind the back when I'm mountain biking.

If you plan to use these while sitting back in a high back chair where your head touches the seat (i.e., airplane, car, etc.) you'll have to minipulate the band behind your neck up or down to keep the speakers comfortably on your ears. Sooo, don't get these if you do a lot of traveling and want to listen to music), ear buds or over the head models are a better choice for this.

Can't give it a full 5 stars only because of the long-term wear issue mentioned above.

Overall, definately worth the money. Like I said, they were much better than many more expensive models.

Best Headphones EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been searching for a pair of behind-the-neck heabdphones for the longest time. These behind-the-neck headphones are by far the best. I've tried brands like sony, coby, etc, but these brands hurt my ears. My Top Ten Reasons to buy these headphones are: 1. Comfortable 2. look 3. sound quality 4. Compatibility 5. features 6. price ($15) at the store 7. Brand 8. One sided cord (Relieves Tangled Mess) 9. Pull Relief System (Cable Connection that extends life of headphones) 10. Because they are from Target I reccommend these headphones to anyone.

Good sound, bad construction.
Maybe it's cause I'm spoiled by the Koss SportaPro headphones that are $10 cheaper and fold into streetstyle wear, but these just seem damned flimsy. Mind you, the SportaPros aren't much better built, but they're at least a little more functional with the same great sound quality. I expected a lot more for the $50 I spent (with shipping). They *do* have very good sound, but I feel like I'm gonna break them by mistake carrying them around in my backpack. Like having a really expensive pair of glasses in a mosh pit. My advice, if you're using these outside your home, go with the cheaper sportapros. They can go streetwear style which can be a real advantage at times and they're the same quality sound at a cheaper price.

Great value and sound
I originally purchased these for use when exercizing, but they were not well suited due to the amount of external noise encountered at a gym. However they are great for any other application. The sound quality reproduced is amazing. The only negative as detailed by others is they are not the the most sturdy headset you will encounter, but for the price, I have found none better.

SUPERB!!!!
I bought a pair of these based on a recommendation from a fellow online (a 4th year electrical engineering student) and the reviews. These headphones more than amazed me!!! I've owned many pairs in the past (mostly Sony) and these come out on top for the price. I didn't think headphones could sound as good and loud as these driven with so little power, these are VERY efficient at 101 dB sensitivity. I've only listened to earphones for a long time because they are efficient, but these headphones can peform almost as loud as high sensitive earphones (they sound so much better and livelier than any set of earphones I think). I own a Sony D-NE510 mp3 discman, and they sound really good compared to the crap that came with it. If you have sensitive ears these have 3 adjustments for the pressure of the headphones against your ears (mine are rather sensitive so I find them rather discomforting after awhile even with the light setting). The sound quality far outweighs the discomfort issue (did I even mention the bass on these things???). Hear to believe!

Sounds good
I've gone through probably 20 ear buds throughout the years, various brands and different models and currently use these and am quite pleased. I like to listen to a variety of music that requires a good frequency response and these do a good job without spending too much. The sound is more than adequate with a range suitable for most music with a bass that isn't over the top. You get just enough bump and thump. The fit is the best of any I've used. A snug fit that closes the external sounds pretty much and cancels out unwanted interference to your music with the exception of wind when you are moving fast. When you are still they are perfect.I get plenty of use on the road with at times jarring movement and find that they do not fall out like many other models. Although the manufacturer does not recommended them for cycling they are perfect for tunes on the road. A good choice for comfort and above average sound reproduction. If you're looking for something to put in your ears to listen to your tunes than these indiscreetly stylish ear buds are for you.

Absolutely amazing
These are by far the best headphones I have ever used, and I've tried a lot of them, believe me. The bass is incredible. I keep hearing new, very low sounds in music I listen to that I never heard before when I played that same music on other hardware (speakers or earphones). Very cool.

They fit comfortably in your ear and don't fall out (unlike the ...Sennheiser MX300's that came with my iMP SlimX), even when 'active' like cycling. They block out a lot of external sounds, but you can still hear loud sounds.

There is practically no sound leakage, even at higher volumes, so you can use these in public places like trains or a bus without bothering other people.

I'm very happy with these earphones, and definitely recommend them to everyone, even though they are a little pricey ... They are worth every cent.

I love these earbuds
I use these to listen to Flamenco music and television. I found them to have terrific sound quality. I had no overwhelming bass problem as one other customer described. I have never been one to turn the volume up extremely loud, so my hearing is good. I compared the sound on these to three others, including a pair of expensive Sennheisers, and found these not to be lacking.

Big, heavy & uncomfortable
I bought these headphones and they are huge. They feel like your wearing a brick. They sound decent but should sound much better for the price they are sold at. I think that these headphones were not made to the greatest standards by a company who normally makes high quality headphones. They do have an upside, they are durable and can withstand a beating aka traveling. They play audio at at good intrevals from high, medium and low without being scratchy or too heavy on the bass. For these to sound good, you do need a high quality audio source, mp3 players might not cut it, and computers may sound amplified through these headsets. The ear cups are full cups and quiet but due to air and sound mixes they give ear fatigue fast. So if you have time pick what you want, but not these. Others sound better.

mediocre sound, poorly constructed, very uncomfortable
When new, these headphones crush your head to such an extent that wearing them for more than a half hour is a real test of will. After a few months the cheap, flimsy plastic headband will splinter apart with spider-webbed cracks and this will make them more comfortable until the headband completely disintegrates. Also these are overpowered with bass -- much more so than my old sony v600 (which I could wear for 4+ hours in perfect comfort, and which I believe had significantly more accurate sound reproduction, despite what the anal-retentive "audiophiles" claim). At half the price these would be a ripoff. You don't realize how important comfort is until you don't have it.

great sound, a bit too tight.
I like these headphones. However, one of the challenges of selecting headphones was finding units to try before purchasing. Some stores had SOME Sennheiser phones but no store carried THIS model OUT of the box, available to try-on first. Therefore, I bought these through Amazon WITHOUT trying them first.

They sound they produce is satisfying. The fit is tight.

Of course the whole idea of closed-cup is to screen-out extraneous sound while creating an sanctuary of sound under the phones. Designing a set of cups to accomplish this while keeping the phones comfortable is one of the challenges.

For me they serve the purpose of blocking most noise in my office and creating a world of sound. Also, others cannot hear what I am listening to. I have not tried wearing them while on an airplane yet. That is next.

Subtracting from the overall listening experience somewhat is the pressure the phones apply to the side of my head, especially while wearing glasses. I'm good for an hour or two, that's it.

The lesson I learned is NEVER to buy headphones, no matter what the reputation of the company, without FIRST finding a store that has them available to on. I started out with good intentions but caved at the end and took a chance.

In time, they may fit better. If that is the case, I will give them my highest rating.

Until then, three-stars.
